[F24 | SP][PT] Bull by the Horns | <<Field Boss: Piasuhon>>
Acanthus replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
Despite the damage, Piashuon showed no signs of slowing down. The Champion grinned, preparing to bear the brunt of the charge with her shield. The rhino connected, and the Champion felt the air leave her body all at once. Haru had been hit by a car once while running late to work; the force of Piashuon's impact made that accident feel like a gentle tap on the shoulder. Her feet lifted from the ground momentarily before skidding back into the dirt. Her shoulder braced the shield, and her other hand wrapped around Piashuon's horn. Good thing I didn't take the stupid thing off. Bit by b -

Acanthus replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
For the first charge, the Champion rolled out of the way. Piashuon clipped her as he sailed by, but even the sliver of connection was enough to send her sailing across the dirt floor. The entire stadium gasped at the upset. "A minor setback," she growled. Her mistake was attempting to get out of the way of a moving mountain. To get reset and prepared for the next charge, she'd added about fifteen seconds to her estimate. Not that there was any danger of defeat. Her only metric of success was how quickly she could kill the damn thing. Piashuon rounded the corner, ready for a second hi -

Acanthus replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
Piashuon could tell when it was being mocked. It bellowed and reared up, sending the two handlers flying. One bounced through the dirt and landed with one hand twisted behind his back. The second tumbled and cracked his head into a wall, tumbling into the spectators. The audience was now crying for blood. Pianshuon lowered its head and charged. The Champion had already planned her approach carefully. The horn could be sawed off-in one hit, with good timing and a little luck-but damaging the horn did nothing to Piashuon besides reducing its damage. She had enough health to not worry about -

Acanthus replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
A pair of handlers led Piashuon into the darena. The rhino bucked and growled even as the meek handlers guided it to Acanthus. "That's it? I expected him to be bigger!" The rhino was by no means small: in fact, it was the size of a small shed, if the shed were wrought of thick hide and pure muscle. Every snorting breath pulled the heavy iron chains across its belly, kicking up dust that the rhino stamped back down. Haru would have been frozen in terror. Acanthus would have even experienced some trepidation at the two tons of animosity staring her down. But in the coliseum she was neither. -

[F4 | SP][PT] Cold Shoulder | <<Absolute Zero>>
Acanthus replied to Acanthus's topic in Beginner Floors
The girl stumbled back into the Tavern, heading immediately for the fireplace. Alex couldn't keep the smugness out of his voice. "Looks like you're back for those directions, aren't you? Maybe the quest is a little bit out of your league. I think Kindle needs some extra firewood if you want a simple gathering quest." "Kindle? No, I think I've done that one already. And I'm not here for directions. I killed Absolute Zero." "...Really." The seemed far too disinterested to be lying to him. The system provided concrete proof, marking her as eligible to turn in for quest rewards. "Bu -

That bartender really didn't seem to like me. The thought trailed Acanthus as she hiked the southern slope of the mountain. Absolute Zero's location was common knowledge at this point: accepting the quest had been a formality. She did not care to stay and listen for directions. Maybe that was why he didn't like her? Or maybe that she'd asked for the whiskey in her cider. (Oh, excuse me: the "grainol." The game's desire to replace perfectly normal terms with fantasy ones annoyed her endlessly.) The strategy guide mentioned Alexander was a warm and intelligent NPC, though a little stan -
[F11 | PP] Relax and Report <<Tracker's Alliance Check-in>>
Morningstar replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
[MORNINGSTAR] — lvl 108 — It was important that Acanthus lead their inaugural guild check-in. Morningstar was occupied elsewhere. What was he dealing with, you ask? Bees. An ocean of bees, buzzing electrically, filled the ravine to its rim. Clammy fingers tapped against a glass jar. "Not doing it," Morningstar said decisively. "I don't need that many. Even twelve bees would do," came Kingsley, trudging up the hill, clutching his walking stick and groaning with each step. Morningstar watched with one brow raised. "You're not that feeble." "Age comes for us al - Today

Firefly sat in her chair quietly while waiting for the rest of the group to flow in. Her fingers picked through her hair until Acanthus spoke up on the reason they were summoned. It what she feared. She wasn't entirely sure she was ready to share the story of her near death experience, or at least what she felt like in that moment. In fact, the entirety of her Calming the Soul quest had left her in shambles. Sharing that wasn't on her list but she also didn't want to keep secrets from her closest friends. Acanthus would begin to tell them that these meetings weren't mandatory, also that i

[F11 | PP] Relax and Report <<Tracker's Alliance Check-in>>
Wulfrin replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
Wulfrin rubbed his eyes as he sleepily made his way to the included rendezvous point for the early morning meeting. For now he was alone, though he had attempted to coax his loving wife out of bed to attend, but she insisted on "five more minutes" that quickly became another hour. Wulfrin was exhausted as his days had grown rather busy as of late. Sentinel Armaments was undergoing its expansion, the country club was becoming more and more of a daunting task, and on top of that he had guild duties. The ability to find more than just a handful of hours to rest and relax was becoming more and mor -

OOC: In an effort to accrue Guild Tokens, I'm running a monthly Guild-only private thread where any member of the Tracker's Alliance is invited to post. These threads will open on the first Monday of each month, and I will close and submit them on the following Monday. If you want to join, your only obligation is a single, minimal effort post describing any guild efforts they've taken since the last meeting. Players are welcome to make three posts to meet the experience minimum, but it is not expected. (Because I'll be making the opening and closing posts, I'll probably make a habit of sn

[F11 | PP] Two Truths and a Lie | <<I Know a Guy>>
Wulfrin replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
Wulfrin leaned against the walls of his guildmate and colleague's office, watching as she slowly descended into madness. Literal mountains of paperwork framed her scowling face on either side as Acanthus moved as efficiently as she could. It was a stark contrast to Wulfrin's own workspace. Here at guild headquarters, his "office" was a small forge out back that had only the bare necessities for maintaining guild equipment. All of his work for the guild funneled into a workbench to the point that he tended to work mostly from home now, the rapid expansion of his shop becoming not just a priorit -

Luke sipped and ate absent mindedly. He looked around wondering if he would actually dance. The idea wasn’t repulsive but there was only so much food that he could eat. Eventually one’s taste buds would get overwhelmed. He debated getting into a fight just to spice things up. He decided against it, ultimately, because he didn’t trust what his brain was telling him about his mental state. It would be a shame to survive all this time just to die from a stupid pvp bout. “Maybe I should just get going,” he sighed, looking at the exit. He realized there was only so much fun to be had on any g

With her little music number come and gone, the stage had already become occupied by another. The little block of ice in her mixed cocktail had begun to melt causing the glass to sweat, watering it down and leaving it dilute and a mirage of what it once was. The flippant intoxication in Simmone's blood was just as fleeting, allowing the murky thoughts to twist around and begin to discover logic. Finding a seat away from the active crowd and their telltale trades of heat and love. Some even genuine and real, to which those would be the most obvious to her. The ones that she fixated on. Into the darker recesses of mood lighting, where scents elude to how clean the floor must truly be. Without his glasses on, the man would fit in snuggly as a mundane addition to a crowd that chose not to take an active part in the dance floor. A sip of deep red, the stuff stung swiftly on his taste buds and was strong enough to leave them numb. The nomad's eyes jump to the ceiling as they trace the beams of light that dart too and from, finding the device that was producing them spinning wildly in sporadic and inconsistent movements. "Clever. Very Clever" He'd comment loosening his tie slightl

Ascension nodded at the woman with the black hair, "Enjoy your drink." He knew what Cascade liked, and while the woman may have been right, he wasn't about to torment his love. His arms wrapped lovingly around her. She spoke. "Cas, it's fine. You're not the one who should be apologizing." He got down on both knees, arms still wrapped around her, eyes still met with hers. "Please, my love, forgive me for not arriving on time." He looked remorseful, almost as if he felt like he had let her down by being so late. *** PH
