[SP-F1] Here We Go Again!

Ronin had done well to help the Blacksmith and become one himself.  Now that he had the basics down, it was time to take a break from his job duties and head back out into the field.  He had gained a little experience and felt like he was a little more capable this time of trying out the combat system.  Whether this would turn out to be a mistake or not, was yet to be seen.  He hiked up his britches and nodded his head, a look of fierce determination in his eye.  He wanted to do the best he could and he wanted to do it fast.  He headed back out of town for the grassy plains where he had spotted the wild boar earlier.  It was time, to give this another shot.

WILD BOAR

Stats:

Health: 4

Mitigation: 6

(Floor Level x 4 Health, Floor Level x 3 Damage), mitigation that is at least 1/4 of the mobs HP and at least half the health of the highest player in the thread..

 

Still out roaming the field, the same wild boar from earlier was eating grass as per usual.  Well, perhaps it wasn't the same one from before, but Ronin would never be able to tell the difference.  For all he knew, there could've been other players in this area since he was last here and they could've killed many of these creatures and caused them to respawn afterward.  Ronin shrugged his shoulders and the wild boar continued to eat.  The creature lifted its head after taking another mouthful of grass into its teeth and looked toward the approaching swordsman.

Ronin unsheathed his weapon and stretched his arms overhead, holding up his two handed blade.  He narrowed his gaze on the animal ahead, noticing how peaceful and carefree it looked.  He sighed and lowered his weapon.  This damn beast didn't give two craps about him and he knew it.  They both knew it.  He needed to get stronger, and fast.  The only way to do that, was to give this his best shot.  Hopefully he wouldn't fall victim to such a low level creature, but there was only one way to find out for sure.  He had to engage it in combat and find out what he was really capable of with this battle system!  "Here goes nothin!" he cried out, before charging toward the creature and launching his attack!

Ronin's sword cut down through the air with great speed and power, slicing into the boar's hide and causing the creature to cry out.  He grinned and prepared to attack again, but was suddenly caught off guard as the boar lashed back at him, slashing at him with its tusk and making contact.  The swordsman's eyes shot open wide as he was sliced and he jumped backward gritting his teeth in annoyance.  "Damn boar!  I'll show you!" he promised, gripping his sword tightly and preparing to strike again!

This time Ronin's sword found its mark again, but the boar did not!  The swordsman cackled as he connected and tore through the beast's hide before springing back and regaining a fighting stance.  This was going well so far, despite that first attack he had taken the full brunt of.  He knew that this damn boar was just a low level opponent, but he couldn't help but feel like he was still a tough one.  He knew that things were going to get much much harder from here on out and he needed to be ready!  "Come on!" he cried out, before lunging inward and pulling his two handed sword through the air in a diagonal slashing fashion.

The tides had turned in this battle and now the wild boar had misses two attacks in a row.  Clearly the creature was feeling the effects of Ronin's attacks and it was beginning to slow down.  The swordsman could feel victory approaching and he grinned widely in anticipation.  He couldn't wait to deliver the killing blow to this creature and win his very first battle in the game.  He had already done well in his mining escapades with the female Blacksmith, now, he was proving himself at least adept enough to handle his sword on the battlefield!  "Alright!  Take this!  I'm going to win!!!"  He cried, before attacking again and hoping to finish the wild boar off.

The swordsman's two handed blade drove downward through the air with insane accuracy, landing for the forth time this fight.  It slashed right through the wild boar's hide and this time the creature wasn't going to be coming back for more.  Ronin smirked, but suddenly felt one of the creature's tusks stick into his leg.  "What the hell!?" he cried out, figuring that he had already delivered the killing blow.  To his surprise, it seemed that though the animal was defeated, it still had one last attack in it and the swordsman considered himself lucky that it hadn't been strong enough to kill him.  He made note of this for the future and vowed not to be so careless next time.  For now however, he would enjoy the spoils of his first victory!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Ronin's eyes widened as the wild boar burst into a shower of shard like confetti, showering through the air and dissolving right in front of him.  A small window suddenly popped up in his view with the word Congratulations!! plastered across it, announcing his victory over the creature.  He had done it and he let out a long and deep sigh of relief.  "That... was... awesome!" he cheered, before accepting his spoils.  Unfortunately, the wild boar hadn't dropped anything too good, but he was just glad to have survived the encounter.  Ronin was now hooked and he looked around for his next encounter, hoping to do it again!

Looking across the grassy field, Ronin spotted an identical looking wild boar roaming a good distance away.  He decided it was good to begin making his way toward it and give himself a chance to catch his breath, or whatever the alternative of that was in this virtual realm.  He went over the battle that had just unfolded in his mind and was pleased with how things had gone.  While he wasn't the most revered swordsman yet, he was glad that he had managed to hold his own against the creature and deliver the finishing strike in truly awesome style!  Hopefully his next battle would go along just as smoothly...

Once he made his way across the field, Ronin peeked back over his shoulder to see the area where he had slain the boar moments ago.  To his unending fascination with this world, the wild boar he had just taken down was already respawning there and beginning its usual habit of walking around and munching on grass.  He shook his head, unable to believe it.  "Wow, this place is really somethin..." he sighed, before turning his attention back to the boar he was approaching.  This creature looked no different than the last and he hoped that his sword would once again land true against this next opponent.  Looking down at his blade, he took another moment to collect himself before he would begin.

WILD BOAR

The wild boar looked up from the grass it had been chewing on and gave Ronin a serious look.  Perhaps this one wasn't like the one before that the swordsman had just vanquished in battle.  This one seemed a lot more determined or at least, aware of Ronin's presence.  It kept its eyes locked on him as the swordsman caught his breath and prepared himself for another battle.  The creature chewed slowly, looking over the swordsman and his attire, most importantly his weapon.  Its eyes never looked away and it seemed just as ready for the upcoming conflict as Ronin himself.  *Snort*

Ronin thrust his double handed sword through the air, stabbing the tip of it straight into the boar's chest.  The creature thrashed and cried out in pain, attempting to attack him back.  Its attempts were in vain and the creature's legs kicked meaninglessly at the air as Ronin lifted the creature up off the ground slightly on the tip of his sword.  As he ripped his blade free from the creature's chest he smirked.  He had landed a critical strike on the beast and knew he would finish this boar off even faster than the first.  "Time to die!" he announced, preparing to strike again.

Ronin swung hard, but missed and his mouth fell agape in surprise.  Somehow the boar had managed to duck under the edge of his blade and was now attacking back!  The swordsman's weight was shifted, his guard was open.  If he were hit now, it would certainly do a lot of damage!  He cringed, anticipating the strike to come, but it never did.  He shot a glance down and noticed the boar was simply too fatigued from his first critical strike to do anything.  "Good!  So you are almost done for!  Alright, I won't miss again!"  he cried out.

The swordsman's sword cut right through the wild boar and it burst into the crystal like shards, dissolving right before his eyes.  He smirked and sheathed his weapon, cracking his neck and stretching his arms over head.  He watched as the window popped up in front of him again and announced his success in defeating the creature.  "Man, this is going better than I thought it would!" he said, before looking through his spoils.  "Wow!  I got some loot this time!" he cheered, hoping it was something good.  Ronin decided to keep a good thing going and he looked around, hoping there was another wild boar close by.  "Let's do this again!"

The swordsman with the two handed blade inhaled deeply, his chest rising as the air invaded his nasal passage and finally his lungs.  They ballooned up and he smacked his lips together in a satisfied fashion.  "Man, this is such a crazy world.  To think, I'm just out here in this grassy field, fighting these wild boars, but none of it... none of it is even real."  It was enough to leave him mesmerized for a moment and he took a second to gather himself and refocus his mind on the current situation.  He was having a blast out here fighting against these wild boars and he was starting to get the hang of the combat system.  "Alright, who's next!?" he cried out, turning his attention toward a wild boar that had just spawned nearby.  "...You'll do just fine!"

WILD BOAR

This time the boar that respawned seemed to have a personal vendetta against the swordsman and it immediately looked toward him and swiped its hoof across the grass.  It let out a snort and narrowed its gaze, furrowing its brow and looking toward Ronin with hatred in its eyes.  The beast was preparing to strike and Ronin would have to act fast if he wanted to stand up to its assault.  Unlike the others before, this one wasn't waiting around until he launched the first attack.  It came charging straight toward him and the swordsman's eyes widened in wonder.  "Whoa!"

The wild boar charged Ronin and thrashed its head at the swordsman, not waiting for Ronin to get his [censored] together.  Ronin back peddled, but he was too slow.  The boar's tusk pierced into his flesh and he cried out in annoyance, jumping backward to try and get away.   He tore his blade through the air to try and counter attack, but missed completely and growled.  "Damnit!  What the hell is with this one?!" he cried out, knowing there was something different about this boar.

"DAMNIT!" cried out Ronin as he swung again and missed a second time in a row.  He growled and ground his teeth together, unable to believe it.  He had been doing so well before and now this wild boar was kicking his ass and dodging all his attacks!  The creature wasn't done yet and it charged forth, gashing him with its tusk.  Ronin roared and spat at the ground, hopping backward to try and avoid taking any more damage.  "Man, I've got to figure out something, and fast!"  He didn't want to accept it, but he knew he needed to try and escape!

With things clearly not going his way this time, Ronin knew he had to bite the bullet and turn tail on this one.  He turned and strained to churn his legs, attempting to flee from the wild boar and get away before he was struck again.  To his relief, he was able to engage the muscles in his legs and his attempt at fleeing was a success.  He raced off across the field, away from the wild boar and into an open patch of grass that had no other boars around.  "Damn, that one was tough!" he accepted, looking back toward the wild boar he had just been fighting and allowing his health to regenerate.  He wasn't sure if he wanted to risk going in against it again, but something inside him said he wouldn't be satisfied unless he tried.

Planting his hands on his knees, he hunched over and took deep breaths, still not fully understanding of the system and his avatar's need for air, or rather, the lack there of.  He sighed and shook his head, trying to figure it all out.  Things had been going so smoothly with those first two wild boars, and this third one had really taken him by surprise.  He was just glad he was able to escape when he did, or things might've gotten really sketchy.   He spat at the ground and closed his eyes, knowing in another minute or so, his health would regenerate and he'd be back up to full HP.  Then, he could make his decision on what he wanted to do next.
