Amidst the chaos of battle, the roaring of thunder, the howl of the wind and the symphony of blades clashing Xion was left with little to do. "I'm outclassed here...trust me to go into the one fight where howl doesn't work normally..." he muttered under his breath as he scanned the area, trying to find the best target to attack. The blonde couldn't help but chuckle. It was strange for him to even be considering attacking his enemies, usually he would just have to howl and let his foes do all of the work for him due to his thorns. His eyes continued to survey the chaos before him before something caught his attention, the flash of a sword art and a particularly large explosion of crystals. "Wha-" he said before turning to see Lowenthal strike the boss down with his dagger, Xion smiling as the ginger haired dagger user's actions had brought them one step closer to victory. "What is an army without a leader...useless!" he said with a large grin on his face before facing one of the remaining Phalanxes, the tank figured that since the main boss  was down for the count he could draw the attention of the phalanxes as he usually did. Letting out a loud bestial Howl Xion drew the attention of the third Phalanx, the blonde raising his shield afterwards as he braced himself for the next attack. He didn't know if he had made the best move in Howling at one of the large groups of spartans but he wanted his contribution to the fight to be something more than one pathetic attack.

A soft yawn escaped his mouth as he had already taken it upon himself to get into a comfortable position on the ground. He had reclined against a rock, but still propped himself up enough to be able to watch the battle going on across the field. Compared to when they started there weren't very many Spartans left and even if their group was still outnumbered it was pretty obvious who would be winning this particular battle. With their victory basically guaranteed one thought was all really came to mind as he watched the last of the phalanxes be eliminated: The 18th floor. It was not like he had any real ideas about what the layout of what the next floor might have been though. Thus far every level of Aincrad was different from the last so it was really anyone's guess as to what challenges awaited them up above.

As he shot another lazy glance at the players fighting the phalanxes he couldn't help but smile. It was a pretty amazing sight and the only thing that would have made the event complete would be if he had some starter bread to snack on.

Despite the situation they were into, the last 72 Spartans remained loyal soldiers on the field of battle. Deciding to ignore those who had stopped battling and opted to cowardly watch from the sidelines. The proud warriors let out a fierce war cry and began banging their shields in unison, they shall fight until the last man as Leonidas would've wanted. And if... or rather, when they will fall by the hands of the enemy, they will be rejoined with their king; it was their programmed 'belief' that they would feast alongside him and the other 218 of their fallen brothers. Underneath their helmets a smile could be seen forming at the near thought of that actually happening. Despite being treated like beasts, put to fight like gladiators in front of a crowd they would focus their attention at the only two that had the courage to face them. 

Half of the remaining Spartans went for the blonde that dared challenging them. An smaller avalanche of spears than before, found its way into the boy's shield. Some tried to breach through but found no avail. The soldiers pushed with all their might until some spearheads found his exposed back. Meanwhile, the other half once again assaulted the redhead girl, but despite her apparent lack of defense like before, she didn't show signs of receiving any major damage. The collective minds, programmed by the Cardinal system made the Spartans think of her as someone blessed by Apollo himself who had send his flames to aid her in battle.

With the battle continuing to progress Calrex watched as the phalanx formation he had drawn the hate for be felled as he gave a small sigh, putting his free hand in his jacket pocket. Leonidas' current defeat had rendered him only capable, for the most part, of simply gaining aggro, but it seemed that even that wasn't a complete necessity, as the amount of damage the Spartans dealt was negligible, "So...what do I do now..."

Giving a small sigh he raised the Grand Blade II skyward, the sword swirling with the aura of his <<Howl>> skill before he targeted one of the two remaining formations, "Xion's got it covered, but I might as well help him out in the meantime. Teayre seems to be alright so far, but if push comes to shove and I take the hate of that formation as well."

Slamming his sword into the earth the energy shot out, radiating towards the third phalanx group. Retrieving his weapon the bluenette watched around the area, "Now the question is if this battle will really be over once these minions fall."

[Takao 0]

Takao's ear twitched at the call of his name and his eyes drifted sidelong, watching Macradon take out the remnants of his Phalanx. A low growl rumbled in his throat and chest, entirely inaudible amidst the sea of other sounds raging on in the background. The brunet hoisted his sword up onto his shoulder and rested it by the flat, jade-hued eyes shifting to glance over the remainders of the battle. Two Phalanxes remained, their numbers lingering above half of their full strength yet their advances unwavering despite the fall of both their leader and several of their other ranks. A breath left his lungs and he turned, refocusing upon the next few monsters to be taken down. Rest wasn't something within his grasp just yet, there was plenty more work to be done. He utilized the familiar combination of Charge with a sword art and set about carving through another twelve members of the nearest Phalanx, effectively chopping them into colourful fragments.

Teayre stood still laughing as the remaining Spartans hit her to no avail. “Is that really the best you’ve got?” Grinning from ear to ear she raised a hand slamming her weapon into the ground. “I’ll give you another shot. Perhaps you can avenge that pathetic king of yours.” Her eyes flashed for a moment as her muscles tensed as her battle healing took effect rejuvenating some of her health. A cry came from above, looking up she saw a very familiar Peregrine and what looked like a snowy eagle flying together. Tears began to form into the crimson maiden’s eyes. “Beleram.” She whispered, clasping her hand around the hilt of her katana she quickly grips it and spins. “BELERAM!” her voice yells out, flames wreathing around her from the Spartan’s attack. Her katana striking nothing but air. “I’ll avenge you. I’ll save you Bel.” Swallowing Teayre looks the fourth phalanx in the eyes. “No one else shall interfere with out fight, or I will kill them myself. No matter who it is.”

[Macradon 0]

Seeing as it was going great, Macradon would continue his killing spree as it went on. Macradon used his <Charge> to close the gap between him and the 3rd Phalanx as quickly as he could possibly do it. Within less that a blink of an eye, he was already close enough to execute a sword art. With 6 foul sweeps at the phalanx of soldiers, Macradon would take out 12 of the remaining 24 soldiers, leaving but 12 left to be slain. Macradon was quite sure that they would all go on living after this boss fight, at least he hoped so. With a sigh, he would look around to get the feel of everything, to feel how the fight was going. Takao had headed to the 3rd Phalanx and was helping out as well, which seemed to be great. Staying here for now, he wouldn't want to get near Teayre after what had happened the last boss fight, if he stayed away from her, he would probably be safer than if he had gone to the same Phalanx.

The battlefield was much quieter now as the numbers of the Spartans was reduced to but a handful of their original 300. Leonidas' army had been mostly destroyed but his warriors still fought with the fury of Lions, each of them being an army in their own right. The remaining 12 of the third phalanx looked at each other and nodded as they were challenged by the blue haired player that their king had personally dealt with earlier on in the raid. Half of their number attacked the aforementioned bluenette while the other half attacked the blonde player who had been the target of their last assault. Bellowing with fury the Spartans lashed out with their spears over and over again at the two players, some of them finding away around their guards and striking the bodies of the players, dealing little damage but every point of damage that they caused mattered to the warriors who ignored the sting of thorns, instead continuing their relentless assault. Meanwhile what was left of the fourth phalanx resumed their attack on the read headed girl, the heads of their spears piercing her digital form and leaving red gashes in her as they tried to push her back, relying on their numbers in an attempt to overwhelm the katana user. While they felt the burning of fire on their skin they, much like the warriors in the third phalanx ignored this, truly believing that they could fell the player if they simply continued to attack.

AS the battle continued to unfold, the scarlet spearman watched and waited for the onslaught of the remaining Spartans to ensue. AS one by one they fell by the dragoons comrades, the blonde evaluated which group to finish off. 'Well the fourth phalanx has more... but they seem to be damaged the most.' he thought to himself as a smirk danced across his lips. "Guess that leaves the third phalanx for me to finish off." He stated as he bent his knees. Drawing back his Highwind, it began to glow silver and gold. Finally the man pushed off his back foot, with <Charge> activating he raced across the battle ground to appear before the Spartans. Swinging his spear, <Weeping Moon> initiated and with one massive swinging turn, the tip of his spear sliced through the digital flesh of the Spartan, splitting them in two. [Baldur 0]

Baldur saw how low the HP was on the final surviving phalanx as they attempted to overwhelm Teayre through pure numbers. While other players within the raid seemed content to let the godlike amulet wearers make everyone feel like wasted space on the raid, Baldur could not sit idly by while someone else fought.

<<Charging>> forward, Baldur unleashed his <<Gen Getsu>> AoE sword art, trying to cut down as many as possible. They might die against Teayre's flame thorns enhancement faster than he could kill them, but he would help end the fight as soon as possible any way that he could. Staying to the outskirts of the fight, the blue light of the sword art left streaks of light where his blade sliced through four of the spartan soldiers and shattered them into thousands of polygons.

At least I finally killed some.

Lawfer had cleaned up the ones Baldur had injured at the beginning of the fight, so the least he could do was the same now. Baldur wondered idly if Teayre's flaming aura thing had done more damage in this fight than anyone else had in general. With that amulet, battle healing and a couple of pots, she might have been able to solo this raid, and that was a troubling thought.

"I'll rip out your tongue and use them to wipe my ass!" Opal had roared out over the measly squabble of thirty-six Spartans. With no leader, they were nothing more than a weak bunch of rabblers ready to meet their demise. The Mobs of zeroes and ones, finally met their match. With a little bit of effort, this so called Spartan War was now trickling off and the floor boss would eventually be finished. With her blade a lit in an ominous purple, Opal's thick black lips churned into a smirk and she raised her blade high above her with both hands, "The Gods demand vengeance! Now die!" Shuttling across the battlefield once more, her blade vibrant and poised ready to strike, she launched herself forward into the air and began slicing and dicing through the last remaining thirty six. Sword, spears, axes and shields met her blade. Sweeping them left and right with each battle cry from her voice. Her blade thirsted for the battle, taking out one man and then another. She shifted her weight, gave a mighty battle cry to startle them and took off once more, skewering one in the leg and then other in the rib cage. The long Masamune ripping through flesh and bone alike in this digital world before two more vanquished before her in a array of colorful confetti. The woman turned violently flicking her blade to the side, "Yeah...here comes more trouble..."

One by one, the leaderless spartan like warriors fell by the sharp edges of the players weapons. The overpowered amuletusers realy was a scary sight to see when they plowed thru the hundreds of enemies, seeming unstoppable. Now there was only twentyeight of them left. Zandra looked down at her whip she held in her hand. She slowly shoke her head and let out a sigh.''Oh my oh my. One day guys. One day I will play in your league as well, just you wait.'' she said, more to herself then anyone else in particular. Then she looked at the few soldiers left.''Well, why not.'' she pushed herself up.  Then she darted forward, aiming for the nearest soldier.''I cant leave without killing even a single enemy.'' she said when she activated her <charge> skill and her speed increased. When in range, she activated one of her sword arts. The whip was swung in two powerful swings, making a religious cross over the spartans shield. Zandra watched as the health ticked down to zero and it exploded into crystals. Without a single word she went back to her spot to let the others do their attacks.

The sound of blades against armor roared upon the battlefield as the Spartans valiantly took everything the players thrown at them, not yielding even to the blasphemous taunts coming from the woman who tried to seduce their king. This were to be their last assignment, to stand until the last man. That was the will of their fallen ruler and they will honor it bravely. Launching a unison battle cry that echoed through the valley, they assaulted the redhead yet again, this time somehow managing to not be affected by Apollo's flames. This was a sign that the gods favored them in this battle and that they would truly meet their king and fallen comrades, in the afterlife. Poor pixelated beings, they did not know that they were but complex code used by the mastermind behind SAO. Having them face the players for his own amusement. Still, they fought like true Spartans.... managing to make the goddess blessed by Apollo's flames, bleed yet again even if it was just in form of lowering her HP bar by 1.

"Tch. There are still a few mongrels to be put in their place. To think I'd have to actually help clear these things," mused the annoyed blonde as he reached for his rapier once more. Drawn and glowing, he darted across the field and stopped before reaching four of the thirty-odd Spartans still holding up. Crimson eyes en-flamed at the thought of their existence and should he procured one of the amulets, he surely could've wiped out half of their ranks; however, since he bore no such item, the four before him would have to suffice. Activating his Charge skill, a golden hue enveloped the blonde as he worked through the motion of Twilight Resurrection and ripped into the four creatures.

Following in Oikawa's steps, the blonde cursed as she didn't have access to te same rapier sword art. "I'll have to make amends with that later." she muttered as she went straight towards the closest Spartan. The foe was a tough one despite being mere cannon fodder as it blocked most of her attempts to hit it. Gritting her teeth she tighten the grip around her rapier and aimed at the man's left knee. Recognizing this pre motion, the system started providing her assistance as, in the same time her weapon started glowing a vibrant pink color. She managed to hit a total of four times, once at each knee; and thanks to the system assistance, she managed to bypass the spartan's shield and hit each of its elbows once. With the last thrust she saw as the proud warrior smiled at her just before exploding into polygons. "What are you grinning at?" muttered the blonde as she lowered her rapier, looking @Lowenthal with envy. If this one was the same as the last boss fights, he would get the LA bonus...

(Xion skipped for missing the 24 hour deadline, and suffers the -10HP penalty)

Lowenthal quickly closed the reward menu that had appeared before him. He spun around, and noted the amount of Spartans that still had to be dealt with. Instead of engaging, Lowenthal stood back, only meaning to fight if he was attacked himself. After a few full force attacks, his energy was dwindling and it needed to recharge if he was going to be useful. And another thing was that he was lacking in the AoE attack department. Judging from the attacks that some other players were putting out, his measly AoE would be next to nothing. It would be better to just stick to the outside, pick off a stray or two, and stay out of everyone else's way. Lowenthal heard someone talking to him through the clash of battle. Turned out, that someone was none other than Ariel. The look on her face showed that she was agitated with something. Probably just as displeased as he was at the length of the boss fight. Lowenthal held his hands up in defense. "I'm not grinning about anything. In fact, I'm quite useless at this point. Boss is dead, and I lack an AoE to do anything worthwhile." Lowenthal said to the blonde warrior.

Seul has been skipped and received 10 damage.

More of the Spartarns fell by the wayside as the assault from the raiding party cut through, the last remains of the fourth phalanx steeling themselves. Shouting a mighty battle cry their blades came forward, crashing down on the bearer of Apollo's coin. Their attack chipped away at the massive health of the katana wielder. However, it seemed that their attack would not go unanswered, as the flames of the Sun God radiated out, burning them.

Even with their burns and massive injuries, the soldiers continued to fight on. They would see their comrades and king in the afterlife, which they would not do so in disgrace. Their battle will continue to the last man, reflecting as their ranks let out another glorious roar that echoed through the barren valley, one that would seem to echo till the end of time itself.

"Guess we're just focusing on getting rid of the remaining minions now."

Calrex looked at the last group. His wife had been doing a decent job so far of clearing them out and keeping their attention on her. The coin that she was given was certainly doing a well enough job of helping her deal enough damage, while the unique armor she had obtained from the last fight kept dealing retaliatory damage with each attack she received. Still, it was better than doing nothing.

Calming his senses with a quick exhale the bluenette rushed forward before leaping skyward, the Grand Blade II crackling with electrical energy as he charged up his <<Lightning Fall>> Sword Art. Coming at the phalanx formation from behind he crashed down, the lightning energy erupting outwards and piercing through four of the remaining soldiers.

Standing upright he breathed a small sigh, extracting his sword from the ground. "Another bunch down."

Takao swung Ragnarok up onto his shoulder, his eyes bouncing over each of the remaining Spartans to count their numbers. Then he looked to Teayre, who had apparently claimed responsibility for the remainders of the boss minions, and had threatened anybody who interfered. He had very little interest in sparking her ire, and much less in making a scene. Instead, he turned his head to the far end of the ravine, eyes narrowed and focused on the staircase laying at the end. He imagined that it was something of an expectation for him to scout the next floor on his lonesome by now, as he had done for the few floors prior. His grip on Ragnarok's handle flexed and twisted, turning the blade on his shoulder as he stared in thought.

The red head’s challenge had not gone unheard. The fourth phalanx surged forwards again attacking her, the glinting steel. The lick of flames. The thrill of the fight. Letting out a yelp of excitement as she was thrust into again and again, the depth not causing much concern to her as if they were wielding daggers instead of spears. Then her raid members ignored her. Baldur, Opal, Zandra. It was to be expected she gritted her teeth in frustration. “I don’t believe it.” The girl mused quietly. Steeling herself as she saw what came next. Oikawa, Ariel. Dashed in killing more of HER phalanx. Then her husband. Shaking her head Teayre grips the Muramasa tightly before unleashing a torrent of cuts. Wind began to shake and radiate out from her followed by twelve high reaching plumes of flame. Standing looks at the remaining members of the group in disgust. “Really? I’ve been wasting my time on you.” Spitting at them she walks past, following Takao as he heads towards the entrance.
