[PP:F7:NK:Complete] Continuation [Beat, Shield, Soredell]

Recommended Posts

Anemone had to remember that she was with a group of players with varying backgrounds. Each one of them had a past of their own before this game took flight and each one a personality as different as the next person. When they were confronted with the serpents, the woman made a small scowl as she looked them over and shook her head, "It is not my day...I have feeling this heat thing is gonna be difficult to turn away for the next few weeks." She said popping her collar to allow more of a hot breeze to strike her flesh. Taking several steps back, she watched as each person took a crack at the four mobs. Soredell's frustration was showing and she cringed and bit down on her lower lip when he said "Jesus," again reminding herself that they all came from varied backgrounds. And she would not simply get on his back for saying the word, although she herself would never take the Lord's name in vain.

With her eyes on their health bars, there was not much she could do except stand there and act pretty useless for them. Red eyes on the other players, "Just think of it like this. We are more than half way through the dungeon and we can get out of here soon. Keep a positive attitude everyone! We can do this!" She gave a very small cheer to hopefully send some of her positive vibes towards the group of people. She had to do what she could to help them, even if only for morale support. @Shield

While Beat had landed a significant hit and the beasts were actively in the process of bleeding, they were still in their green health bars, which meant that the lion's share of the fight was ahead of them.

"Well, might as well get back to it," he sighed to himself, taking a half-hopping step to take off towards the fray.

His axe sung through the air and cut though the edge of the nearest serpent. As expected, it barely registered as damage, bit if he had been lucky, it would have extended the bleeding effect by at least another turn. Now all that remained was to let them deal their damage to him. Unfortunately, they did so a little too well. Numerically, Shield suffered about as much as his last target had, but the strikes had each been precise enough to rob him of his thorns damage.

"I need to get myself some flame thorns... I hear those proc even on a critical hit," he grumbled to himself. "A couple of ranks of that, plus an alcoholic beverage, and I'm sitting pretty for that fight..."

"Yeah, but Flame Thorns are so rare. I bet a lot of tanks builds will be jealous if you ever manage that." Beat said encouragingly as he wiped another handful of sweat from his brow as the molten lava serpents continued their assault, managing to zero in quite well against the tank.

"Okay, a couple more should do it...I think." Beat said, hoping his energy reserves would hold out long enough to finish the fight. He leaped into the air and spun quickly, the snakes being out of range to be hit by his foot, being struck by the expanding shock wave that cut just as fiercely into their semi-solid bodies.

Beat landed and stopped to catch his breath, his fatigue matching his low energy bar, "Damn, not to self: Never under drink." He said between deep breaths, regretting the decision to not drink his more powerful alcoholic consumables.

"Quite honestly, I'm just about done with this heat, whether its from the dungeon, its mobs, or enhancements. Even though we have the Survival skill, which mitigates any environmental damage like heat, it's still so stuffy and uncomfortable here. I want to get to Floor 4 where its cold as hell if it means we get out of this heat." Soredell mutters bitterly under his breath.

Soredell allows the others to make their own attacks against the hot serpents before Soredell makes his own move against the molten snakes. He watches as their health bars slowly dip into the red. He readies his sword and goes for an attack against the first Molten Snake that he sees, only just missing his attack. The radiating heat is too much for him at this distance, and stumbles back. "Crying out loud, it feels like my skin is being microwaved. We need to get rid of these things, and preferably soon for our sake." he says to the others.

"So much for keeping up with the positive attitude," Anemone had thought looking back at Soredell with her familiar smile. He had been complaining of the heat and had every right to do so, mentioning he had the Survival Skill which she still had not gained. Her red eyes focused on the people's health bars, steady green as always and Shield keeping up with the hate of the magma colored serpents. She had snapped her collar a few times to let some of the hot wind brush against her 'glowing' skin. She dare not call it sweat, but she would be thinking about it. It was difficult for a woman to be in this kind of heat especially with three men around, she hoped against hope she didn't smell bad do to her perspiring body. She gulped and froze in spot with such a thought in her head of all times to have such ideas. There was not much else she could do here but watch and wait, cheering them on seemed to have little impact on morale and Anemone had nothing on her to help Soredell through his heated misery. So she would stay back in the rear and watch as the others would pummel the mobs, they seemed likely to die in the next round which meant moving on and getting away from this place.

One of the healthier serpents seemed to be sizing Shield up, bobbing its head from side to side like a snake being charmed by a piper, its eyes hat burned with an intensity outstripping the rest of its body, stared him down as if trying to burn a hole in him. It inched its was closer, but he cut it short with a swipe of his axe, which clipped the end off of its snout.

Not prepared to suffer such indignation, the serpent hissed and reared its head back, its companions doing the same as they mirrored its hatred. One by one, they struck, glowing fangs gleaming as they bit through various parts of Sield's body. Each strike drained away significant portions of the attacker's remaining health.

"We're coming up on the end here!" he called out. "One more is all we'll need, Beat!"

Although he knew the potential for jinxing his friend, he was not opposed to providing extra reason to razz him should the final attack fail to be as final as they might hope.

"Right, one more. I don't even need my best shot here." He kicked off of the ground and soared high into the air, turning over once before launching a kick through the air towards the four molten serpents. A wave of shimmering energy escaped his leg, screaming down towards the ground and crashing into their enemies.

"Gotcha!" Beat said as he descended back down to the ground to admire his handy work. The four serpents had been destroyed upon impact, which left nothing but a small fissure in the ground. Beat's eye perked up as the spoils screen came up, adding more mats to their total. The weapons and armor were relatively inconsequential to him, but the money and materials were always useful.

"Heh, more mats. Definitely nothing wrong with that." He said as he turned to leave the room. Though the temperature was improving, it was not nearly at a pace Beat was willing to wait around for.

SWAPPING EQUIPPMENT

+ Hunter's Vestige (+3 BD)
- Sin of Greed (+3 LD)

The room around Soredell seems to cool down as Beat finally eliminates the last of these molten serpents. Although the temperature begins to drop, it's still far too hot for him. He goes down onto a nearby rock, which thankfully doesn't burn his ass too badly, and takes just a moment to breath. He looks over to his HUD, looking at how he and everyone else is going so far. Everyone was still up in the green for health, and if something did happen, @Anemone would just heal the group back, he had no doubt in her healing abilities, even though he hasn't actually seen her in action yet. The main concern for the group was their energy. Defeating these enemies took a lot of energy, and many in the group needed the time to rest and get their energy back up before they could even consider pressing forward. "We should take a break, either now or soon. Get our energy reserves back up before we continue. Sound good?" he says between breaths.

Anemone nodded her head and smiled, with a small back and forth motion with her hands behind her back, it seemed that Beat was able to extinguish the remaining enemies which helped alleviate the heat problem in the room. But not so much as it was a direct change, "Excellent job, everyone." The woman said with her small lavender laced smile. She had turned to Soredell and nodded at his comment,"A rest for the troops sounds like a good idea. But resting in this room seems like a bad idea." Beat had started on his own path and Anemone quickly went after him to move to a new location, she was just about ready to pop with this heady heated room. Along the way there were several molten rocks and ash scattered about. There was a small sparkle on the ground which signified something to her eyes as she knelt down and collected a group of items and placed them in her satchel.

Sweeping the hair from her face, the woman had something to say, "We are almost there it seems. And we have faced each challenge with head on. You guys have done very well." @Shield

Shield nodded in agreement with the sentiments of wishing to get to cooler locations, swapping out his combat gear for his loot finding equipment as he followed behind beat. As Anemone commented on the success so far, Shield gave her a nod as well.

"Well, say what you want about combat ability, but I wish finding dungeons and materials were as easy for me as they are for you," he sighed, using his fingers to pull back the matted curtains of sweat drenched hair that covered his forehead and hung into his eyes. "Beat and I haven't encountered many challenges that put us in physical danger, but we've spent many unnecessary hours searching for things that would have been much better suited to a scout build, or at least a partial one."

As they walked down the passage, he drew level with a crystalline formation growing out of the wall, like some sort of odd, blue faceted weed growing between slabs of pavement. He tapped the item and selected the option to store it away in his inventory.

"Oh man! That's no joke!" Beat said, slapping his forehead with his hand, making a slapping noise that echoed through the large corridors of the dungeon, "It's been really tempting to deviate from my build and invest in search and detect, but I think focusing on your core build is more important in this game. Once you reach a high enough level, then you can go for extra things."

Beat walked over to the wall and took a seat, his ring beginning to glow the moment he touched the ground. He looked around for a moment and found a small pack of valuables resting against the wall beside him. Most of the contents were vanity items, but a small prism with a material tag was of use to him. He quickly stashed the item and looked at the others.

"Okay, so we should be near the boss room by now right?"

Soredell gets up from his temporary resting spot and follows the others, agreeing with @Anemone's sentiment about moving to a cooler location temperature-wise. The familiar chime that would have come with the ring finding any sort of materials during their ventures would not come, seeing as Soredell had swapped out <<Sin of Greed>> for <<Hunter's Vestige>>, now giving him a much more helpful bonus to his attacks, as well as giving him an opportunity to begin testing out the effectiveness of his planned 'glass-cannon' build. He had no intention of searching for materials without his other ring, but he wasn't concerned with getting the materials right now, or getting his other ring out after he just made the switch.

As they walked, he realized that even though they needed to rest and get their energy, they weren't actually 'resting'. He deliberated on whether or not to say anything about the matter, but they all seemed to be so invested in their own discussions on builds and materials that they've gathered that he thought the better of it and kept quiet.

Just as soon as it was mentioned the rested party had come across a room lined with mythic inscriptions in a frozen blue color that seemed to pulsate with life every other moment. Red eyes scanned the wall as the area became a bit cooler if not a bit more oddly worldly as well. There was a small sinking feeling in her heart when they came across the room and she needed to check up on that gut feeling. Sweeping her hand to access her menu, the woman stared at the Intermediate Dungeon Map and it seems they were coming up on the boss room.

"Yep, this is the place alright. Whatever is inside is our last obstacle. They went to pretty far extremes with the lore on this dungeon though. I was reading the lore when the pop up came up, apparently we'll be fighting some kind of Siren. You guys will need to be in your best mindset. But we don't need to go in immediately, we should rest up and get your energy levels up. Also a change of equipment if you need it before battle." Anemone did not have anything to change out from. She was no combat suited warrior by any means and thus she smiled with her lavender lips and crossed her arms to her back feeling the cool breeze that was escaping from the next area they would embark which would be the Dungeon Boss room. @Shield

Shield nodded his agreement, noting that Beat's recovery was less than half completed at the moment. He touched his back to the wall and used that as a steadying point as he slumped himself down to the floor.

"It's been a while since we've made it to the end of a dungeon," Shield said, calling over to Beat. "Rain carried us through one at the end of our first quest, and we've never really finished one since."

If he was being honest, he knew that someday, that's the majority of what he and Beat would be doing together, since after a while, there would not be many well-known quests to accomplish in order to add to their skill point totals. This had not been an easy fought path, and it would only get harder as they leveled more. He managed to keep the concern from bleeding out onto his face. This hadn't been a bad experience, so there was no need to make it seem as if he thought it was.

Rest 2/3

@Soredell

Beat look up at Shield with a grin as he recalled their first quest that had turned into much more than simply breaking a rock to unlock his now masterful skill of martial arts. They had not heard much from the senior player who had carried them through their first dungeon that day.

"Man, that seems like forever ago. That was our first quest ever if I recall. Wonder where that guy is at now? With his strength, you would think he would be near the frontlines..." Beat said, the thought quickly becoming more sobering as he realized that it was possible that Rain could have been killed. He made a mental note to check the wall of obituaries that resided in the city on the first floor, hoping that he wouldn't find their first ally's name written on it.

"I hope he's alright...I haven't even heard about him in a long time. Have you?" He said, looking at Shield hopeful for some good news.

Soredell sits himself atop a boulder while the rest of the group take a moment to rest. Although he's fully rested and ready for the final confrontation against this dungeon boss, and for all the sweet loot they'll get as a result, he knows the main damage dealer and tank, Beat and Shield respectively need to prepare themselves. He then silently looks over to @Anemone. If these dungeon bosses were tough, they would be dealing some serious damage, damage that even mitigation won't be able to stop, which would make her a valuable addition to the party. He looks over to the others as they talk. "I gotta ask, who's this 'Rain' you mentioned? Were they a friend of yours, in the same guild as you guys or something, or perhaps just part of a PuG that he carried?" he asks, curious as to hear their story of their time in lower levels.

There was no reason to fret, the party was well equipped with whatever would be behind that door. And she knew she had enough practical use that, if Shield needed it, she would be able to heal up in no time at all. Red eyes stared at the door as the others 'took a knee' and reminisced over another memory from their past. She smiled and looked down at her hands and feet, wiggling her toes within her boots as she stood there and listened to their story. Maybe one day, she thought to herself, someone would think about her and see how she was not completely useless to them. She blinked away the notion, it was selfish was it not? To want to be remembered why others would not live with any more memories. She took a hard gulp and shook her head, a smile on her face as she turned around and leaned on the wall next to the others.

A word she would not say, she had nothing to say now that they would soon becoming up the most dangerous part of this sub dungeon. She entwined her fingers into themselves and stood their motionless as a rock, she had her own thoughts at least. Where she would go from here? And what was going to be her next step forward. @Shield

"Rain was the guy who carried us when we needed help the most," Shield said. "He was good about lending a hand. He was clever too. I doubt he went and got himself into trouble, but he might have burned out and retired from the front lines. He was pushing pretty hard back then."

Rain was one of the few players who had ever really kept pace with himself and Beat. It was sad to have gone so long without hearing from him, but no matter what, there would always be an admiration for his selflessness. Shield checked the party HUD, realizing that Beat was nearly at full again. He took one last glance around for any materials he might be able to collect before giving up on that pursuit and changing out his gear.

The trusty Bloody Hell axe in hand and his Pain Drinker at his side, he was once again geared for combat. The gravity of the situation finally came into focus. Although he was sure he had done his calculations correctly and that they should have no problem weathering the fight, it was still unnerving to think that the last time he had been in a boss fight he had been too weak to even take a swing.

"Time to make Rain proud," he said giving Beat a quick elbow in the arm to get his attention before holding out the signature fist that was their calling card around significant combats.

@Soredell

Beat stood up and readied himself next to his long time partner in combat, tightening his wraps around his hands and staring the the boss's door as it slowly swung open. The widening crevice between the two halves of the door was too dark still to catch a glimpse of the boss, but he still stared ahead, focused and excited for what he expected to be a good fight.

"Yeah. Gonna four man this like a boss!" Beat said, his excitement raising the volume of his voice as he completed their signature fist bump, commemorating their first dungeon boss fight since they were still level one.

He looked to Anemone and Soredell and gave them each a thumbs up, looking to raise morale for the fight in case nerves were less than steady. Beat had a natural instinct about morale and how to maintain it. It was an important aspect of any fight where lives were on the line and it was this aspect of Beat was what had made him a great guild leader in Crossreign.

Soredell stood up as the gates into the final room slowly began to swing open. He pulled his katana out of its sheathe and readied himself, stretching for a moment before stretching out his fingers with a satisfying crack that quietly echoed throughout the room. "Ahhh..." he mumbled at the satisfying crack before straightening himself as the doors swung further apart. Giving his sword a little flourish by swinging it around, he says "Lets kick this mob's ass guys! We got this easy!" he cheers, perhaps a little overconfident on his part. He gives @Anemone, Shield and Beat his own thumbs up trying to raise their confidence as much as he could. Any confidence or morale boost within the group would be much needed for a fight where their lives are on the line, and since there are less people to rely on compared to boss raids or events where there were scores or players around, everyone here would need to rely on each other if they wanted to live to see the end of this fight.
