[PP-F02] A Mothers Call << Let There Be Light >>

Recommended Posts

Ruby had stepped down from the floor teleporter on the second floor and looked around, she had come to this floor to finish some quests she had not quite finished just yet to gain more Skill Points and frankly to just grow more in levels for the frontlines. There had been one more quest that she could think of that she didn't finish on this floor and to be frank, she needed to grow a bit more hopefully before the next boss, however she was at a good enough level to be useful to the entire cause. With a puff of air she had looked around the area, she had needed to find a woman that is panicking about her child, however she hadn't seen the woman... perhaps walking around town might get her close to the woman with time? She was quite unsure, however how else was she going to find the woman. With a few steps Ruby had began to look around the town.

Tsu had been trying to wrap up most of the quests on the lower floors before moving on to some of the quests with actual challenge behind them. One of the last ones she had to do was the Let There Be Light quest. So now here Tsu was, looking around for a woman trying to find her child. It was difficult to do that in a way, since the NPC wasn't always in one set place, just somewhere in town. It would be easy to spot a lady looking for her child compared to any other NPC. But it was still a lot of ground to cover. Tsu needed to get a few more levels, mostly to catch up and get enough skill points to improve her weapon ranks, as she wasn't in a guild anymore. As Tsu walked, she looked at every individual person, before spotting another player who seemed to be looking for the same NPC"Hey, ribbit. Are you trying to find a woman with a missing child by any chance? I'm trying to find that woman for a quest, rrribbit. We can work together if you wish. I'm Tsu by the way, rrrrrrribbit." Tsu introduced herself, offering to help. Tsu recognized her immediately as Ruby, a player from the frontlines. After visiting Morg's library, she had learned a little bit about each of the frontliners, so Tsu would try to show as much respect as she could to Ruby.

Every time he had tried to take on this underleveled, presumably boring beginner quest, something would come up, preventing him from completing it. He had to have come here two or three times prior and accepted the same quest from the same woman, though he had never actually stepped foot into the cave her child was supposed to be found in. Needless to say, he had gotten a good idea as to where he would be able to find the quest giver. He happened upon the woman as he walked through the second floor's streets, where he had met her once before. Pinball stifled a yawn as the NPC went over the details of the quest, throwing in an uninterested, "I'll find her for you." when he was prompted to speak. He accepted the quest without much of an issue, and a lazy but determined Pinball took a few steps back. He sat on a bench, sorting through his inventory, repeating to himself the specific location of the cavern. He leaned back into the wall of a building, closed his menu, and took a deep breath. "Alrighty~.

Ruby had looked over to the female that had approached her asking if she had been looking for the woman in question also asking to work together, Ruby had gotten a bit annoyed with her extensive use of a word and her ignorance to just come up to anyone expecting them to be friendly. Ruby had simply said "If you must know, yes I am looking for the woman you speak of. However you come up to me believing that I would just be friendly enough to join with you. If you do that continuously with the wrong people you'll find yourself in a deadly situation." she had turned away from her and began to walk "Don't walk down a path that can get you killed, only speak to those you know are friendly. Never strangers. If you are coming, then come. Just keep those words into your mind next time."

Tsu wasn't too surprised at how Ruby responded to her offer. Tsu had already felt that she was a bit too open with her offer, but Tsu just nodded in agreement with Ruby and followed behind her. "Sorry, ribbit. I already knew a little bit about you, so I figured you were safe to talk to. But I will keep your words in mind, rrrrrribbit." Tsu apologized, before looking around the floor for the woman as they walked. Maybe someone had already found the woman, meaning the would have to wait a bit for the quest NPC to reset. That was the only solution Tsu could think of as to why they were having a bit of trouble finding this woman. Tsu didn't want to say anything else however, as Ruby already seemed to be a bit aggravated, so Tsu didn't want to push her any further. Silence was usually a better option than trying to fix things, at least that's what Tsu had learned from her time in this game so far.

He didn't want to go quite yet. Even on the second floor, there was something about doing quests alone that didn't feel right to him. Sure, he had done plenty of quests by himself in the past years. But as of late, he usually found that he had some sort of companion accompanying him. He frowned. But if it was something he was fine with doing, why didn't he leave right now? What was he missing?  What was he waiting for? It's really not like somebody is going to come up and ask to do the quest with you. He stood there for a few more seconds, staring at the street. Finally, he shrugged, grumbling. "Ah, to hell with this." Pinball pushed himself from the wall. He adjusted his cloak and shoved his hands in his pockets. The long cloak and consequentially long hood both hung low; the end of the cloak itself hid his arms and a bit past his knees, and while he wasn't wearing the hood, it usually hung well past his eyes, obscuring his features.  I'll do some gathering on my way there. Get this over with. Go home and sleep.

Ruby had simply shook her head and continued to walk forward, she didn't like direct approaches as such immediately asking for a quest. She knew she hardly knew Ruby, and as one that fell for the same trap it makes her only more angered to see that people still make the same mistakes she had done. Ruby had walked past the man in a cloak completely ignoring the fact that he had even been there, and went straight to the woman that had been handing out the quest information. Ruby had simply kept her hand on her hip as she had listened to the woman speak about how her child had been stuck in a cave that had monsters infested within it. Ruby had looked over to the area in which the cave was at then back to the woman, with a smile she spoke out to her "Well, we will make sure that your child comes back safely, if not we'll make sure revenge will be planted at the very least."

Tsu didn't say anything to Ruby from there on, only occasionally ribbiting for her own reasons. Tsu didn't feel like getting Ruby possibly any more irritated or annoyed with an explanation for the ribbits. It usually took a while for anyone to get it. But thankfully they were able to find the quest NPC woman shortly and Ruby told her they would find her child, and they would make sure that revenge would be planted. The revenge part worried Tsu a little bit, but other than that it seemed they had their objective. Looking at they cave they had to go to, it didn't seem like there was that long of a walk to get there. "So are we going to head straight there or did you need to take care of something before we go, rrrrrribbit?" Tsu asked, looking up at Ruby once they had left the woman. It didn't seem like too big of a rush, since it was an NPC, but it was sometimes fun to actually go along with the story of the quests.

Pinball shuffled through the dirt and leaves of the forest, appreciating the ambience. Birds were singing and bugs were buzzing along, and Pinball could've sworn that in the distance he heard rushing water. All of these sounds, along with the steady crunch of his boots along the forest floor contributed to a meditative atmosphere. Pinball was half tempted to set up camp right now and take a nap in the woods. All of the mobs here would be easily defeated, and it'd be nice to sleep somewhere that wasn't the floor of his shop. He slowed for a moment, seriously considering it... Nah. I've got to do this first. And so Pinball pushed onward, brushing along trees as they passed. Eventually he found himself thinking about the past. He wasn't a terribly social person, but somehow he had managed to meet a few friends in his time here. Reinholt, Mars.. but he hadn't seen them in a long time. Maybe they didn't want to be around him? He had his moments of iffyness, to be sure. He still regret what he had said to Froppy to this day. He shook himself out of it. "The cave should be up ahead," he mumbled to himself, his heart suddenly feeling heavy in his chest.

Ruby had went into her inventory and re-equipped her gauntlets and equipped her Focus Bangle after speaking to the woman that had handed the both of them their quest. Ruby had looked over to the woman who had kept overusing a word, and with a sigh she had said "I don't have anything else to take care of, unless you have something you need to do, then we are going immediately to the cave." she had said out to her before looking back down making sure her Gauntlets were on straight. After a moment she had just waited till Froppy had been finished, even though she wanted to just get this done and over with, she is a part of her party and need to let her get done with whatever she needs to do. She would wait patiently to whatever that she needed to get done, however if there wasn't anything she needed to do she would immediately begin to walk toward the cave in question.
