[BR - F24] Paving the way to Floor 25 (Floor 24 Boss Battle - Leviathan)

Recommended Posts

Kairi had looked over to her party, when it seemed as if they had been alright for the most part, Pinball and Ruby had been hit extremely hard after. Kairi had opened her eyes and let out a puff of air seeing the damage that was being done. However... there was just nothing Kairi could do about this sort of damage that was being done, all she could do was follow the orders that Hestia was giving to her. Kairi had looked over to Hestia and simply nodded her head letting out a cute puff of air then picking up her Buster Sword pointing them at the four Sagahins. After a moment letting others get their turn, Kairi had lunged herself forward and landed a few hits ont he group of the Sagahins dealing as much damage she could, however critically striking one of them which was appreciative by the system. However she looked at her Energy pool after the attack, she was already VERY low on energy.

Neo nodded once more in agreement with Hestia's plan. Though she may be following a little bit blindly, this was her first time in a fight on such a scale. There was the labyrinth guardian, but it was already nearing death when she got there as well as it wasn't so large. Going towards the segment, she was unsure if she was going to be able to hit it before the buff wore off. Though it seemed like it might be impervious to her attack at the moment, she hoped that the others were going to take the remaining sahagin out as quickly as they could so her attack actually counted. Seeing the beams of her sword art turn black, Neo let out a little smirk knowing that if this did connect, it would be hurting quite a bit. And once her attack went through, damaging or not, SHe prepared for the onslaught of the rain that was still pelting down towards her skin.

OOC Announcements:

Spoiler

The torrential rain effect only lasts for the turn, therefore they are not stacking on each other. Also note to use the effect in brackets if you hve survival (which should be everyone except Ruby and Pinball)

Players Have 88 Hours to post

[Deadline: 5/3/2019 12:30 PM]

The rain was pouring heavier than ever, and as another sweeping wave of cold came over the battlefield, the rain once more turned to an icy, stabbing cold. Though there was little that the players could do to stop it, it was going to begin causing casualties if nothing was done to prevent it soon. A blade could be heard pinging off of the diamond hard scales of the leviathan's scales, and more sahagin poured out of their tunnels. The tide was coming in favor of the leviathan and their supporters. As the head of the monster came swooping down, it sprayed pressurized water towards the party, knocking two of them off of their feet.

These pitiful humans are already nearing death and they've barely witnessed a fraction of my power. There will be nothing left to stop me once they are out of my way. I will be able to meddle with their affairs even more. With the power of the sea and an army of seafolk under my command, the land dwellers will be unable to stop me.

Last Round's Results:

Neo's damage is negated

Spoiler

Room Effect: Torrential Rain
A terrible storm rages on the seas, growing worse by the minute. At the start of each of Leviathan's turns, players are progressively hindered. Those with the <<Survival>> skill active take reduced penalties (noted in brackets). ACC and EVA reductions only last for the rotation they were applied:

Rotation 1: 50 mitigatable DMG [25 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 2: 100 mitigatable DMG [50 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 3: 150 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn [75 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 4: 200 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn [125 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn]
Rotation 5+: 250 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 2 for a turn [175 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn]

<<Leviathan>> (Targetable for 1 turn(s))  [Stun CD 2/3]
[
                    ]
[                    ]
[                    ]
0 MIT | 2 ACC | 0 EVA | 14 PD
Takes double damage from all sources excluding Burn damage.
Leviathan is out of reach and unable to be targeted except for howl, focused howl, and other abilities that only generate hate until one of her Segments are downed.

Passive:  Queen's Ire
Applies to a player when they deal damage to Leviathan. Reduces all sources of health and energy restoration by half (rounded down, to a minimum of 0). Destroying a Segment immediately removes Queen's Ire from its assigned party.

Ability 1: Hydro Jet
[Uses every turn]
An attack that pierces through the toughest of hides, the sturdiest of ships, and densest of armor. Leviathan rears back and launches a jet of concentrated water at the player with the highest hate. Deals 500 DMG and reduces the hate of that player against Leviathan by 3. On a non-critical hit, a player may choose to expend 5 energy at the start of their turn to ignore this hate reduction.

Ability 2: Frostbite (2/2 CD)
[2 Turn CD]
Leviathan breathes deeply, unleashing a wave of extreme frost over the area that coats players and solidifies into ice (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Frostbite" (This is not a post action and should be rolled after scald if applicable). On a LD 1-14, they suffer from the Freeze condition until the start of their next turn (Removes their action on the current turn and removes all EVA properties. If they are hit by a successful attack before the effect ends they take an additional 40 unmitigatable Frost DMG.). A frozen player's base DMG is reduced by 3 for one turn after the freeze effect ends (this is negated if the effect was purified). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect:

  • +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active.
  • +2 for having the Flame Aura, Flame Thorns, or Burn enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, burn effects granted from consumables do not apply)
  • +1 for every 2 EVA the player has.
  • Having the Antifreeze makes the player automatically succeed the check.
  • Suffering from the Burn effect from Scald makes the player automatically succeed the check.

Additional notes: This will proc anti-oxidants and antidotes before the roll. If a player neglects to roll for this effect, the boss will make the roll at a -5 penalty (and will apply retroactively). And though it is stated earlier, once again, this does not cost a post action. I will know you aren't reading these abilities if you ask me if it takes a post action. You cannot quick change to gain immunity either, as it takes place at the start of your turn.

Ability 3: Scald (1/3 CD)
[3 Turn CD] (starts on cooldown)
A sphere of heated volcanic ocean water is lobbed and splashes against all players in the party. Deals 100 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the highest hate, 50 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the second highest hate, and 25 unmitigatable DMG to all others (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Scald" (This is not a post action, and should be rolled before frostbite if applicable). On a LD 15+, their base DMG is reduced by 1 for one round. On a LD 1-14, they suffer from Burn, taking 40 unmitigatable Fire DMG at the beginning of their turn for two turns (This is affected by the snowfrost effect). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect:

  • +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active.
  • +2 for having the Frost Aura, Frost Thorns, or Freeze enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, freeze effects granted from consumables do not apply)
  • +1 for every 2 EVA the player has.
  • Having the Fireproof enhancement makes the player automatically succeed the check.
  • Suffering from the Freeze effect from Frostbite makes the player automatically succeed the check.

<<Segment 1>> [Diamond Dust]
[                    ]
50 MIT | 2 EVA

AoE attacks cannot include more than one segment. Though they die and respawn, Segments cannot be affected by Charge more than once, and effects like debuffs will continue to affect a downed/respawned Segment.
One segment is assigned to each party. When a Segment is destroyed, Leviathan lurches forward and becomes targetable for 1 turn for all parties (stacks with other segments being destroyed). The destroyed Segment immediately respawns with a set of Sahagin adds. These Sahagin only target players in the party that they are assigned to and can only be targeted by players that they are assigned to. A respawned Segment has the <<Diamond Dust>> buff until all paired adds are killed.
Ability 1: Diamond Dust - Leviathan’s scales shimmer like diamonds. A Segment with the <<Diamond Dust>> buff is immune to damage.

The storm above the players continued to increase in severity, the droplets of rain pelting them like sharp daggers falling from the sky. Jomei's battle healing was back to its full amount, so the damage he took from it was nothing he needed to worry about. However, his soaked clothing, and now slick blade made it a bit more difficult to move and wield his rapier properly. Fighting against the added weight, Jomei began to rush forward to deliver another attack, avoiding the few new mobs that had jumped from the back of the Leviathan to intercept his team. Jomei's boot, however, became lodged in the sinking, wet sand, and the man fell flat on his face. "Dammit." he cursed under his breath, "We need to find a way to get this rain storm to stop."

Suddenly, Jomei's clothing began to become covered in frost as the boss let out another thick fog of cold air. Jomei grunted as he pushed himself to his feet and quickly strode backwards to shake off the creeping frost.

A predictable gust of water minimized by the presence of his skill to reduce the damage given to him, a successful result if he was unable to dodge it. It did lower his hate levels a slight bit, but they were not going out against Leviathan yet, so he could handle it. All he had to do was start screaming at the big bad boss again, right? Well, yes and no. He would love to, but upon facing the breath of Leviathan yet again, he would find his skills completely blanked out and his stats modified to a dangerous level, his evasion specifically. No skills and he could barely move from the default level of movement a player had, this was going to make evasion harder, and there was no parrying that could assist him now. The best he could do was hope that he did have the speed needed to avoid whatever Leviathan threw next, but at least the adds weren't present now. Just the segment, that of which would need to be tapped into first.

Hikoru felt himself enter stealth after he struck down the segment. He gave a small smile as he waited for a moment before striking the creature where it counted, a gash that he had been eyeing on the Leviathan since their fight had started. He Charged forward, striking right where the gash was, his dagger stabbing into the small gash on the large creature and digging into the soft flesh underneath. He smiled as he gripped his dagger tightly, dragging his dagger and causing the gash to deepen and widen, pixels flying everywhere as he finished his sword art, the creature's health dropping in the largest drop that he had seen this whole fight. He chuckled and smiled. This was the damage that he had been craving, what he had been building for. He wished that he had a Holy enchantment, something that he had been searching for, hunting for the perfect weapon. Only one person had that, but Mac was retired, and he was sure that he wouldn't give the weapon to him any time soon. He retreated to the group and looked at the others.

"Go ahead and head after whoever, but if you got AoE, it'd be great if you took out these.... things." He said, eyeing the creatures that were trained on his party.

The torrent of water that slams into me i just grin to myself not being bothered by the attack seeing it as just something that isn't that worthwhile to get worked up about. Since in theory i should be able to keep myself up in terms of energy, and that way Ruby can worry about the others. I then see the frost breathe crash down towards me as i just grin feeling confident that this will just pass over me as i get ready to move i feel the water that has continually pelted my armor, and my shield as i find myself not moving. Looking down i can only curse to myself mentally as the ice stops myself dead in my own tracks to try and activate energize on Kairi to keep her in the fight. Just forced to accept that i can't do anything at the moment except continue try to put more pressure against the ice that has crawled over my gear to keep me at a stand still. taking a quick glance i see that i'm about a fourth of my health gone which is fine surprisingly since there are two healers in this group.

He watches as the moment to attack comes as he quickly rushes towards the leviathan to get an attack in against the beast, but before he could move against the pounding rain against his body he watches as two things happen. One the team leader falls flat on his face which is embarrassing to say the least, and than secondly he sees that Hik manages to take off a chunk of the creatures health with a singular strike, or more to say a singular sword art. Not one to allow himself to be out done he rushes forward towards the leviathan and quickly strikes against its face once more with his own sword art. The blade carving against the creatures as well with a flurry of strikes with a smirk across his face rather glad that his first attack missed since it allows him to have more energy against what is actually important. When he gets back towards the group he looks back towards HIkoru and just nods at him. That was rather..impressive. I would like to figure out how you did that in the future. He says with a forced polite tone as if what he said was like pouring acid along his skin.

Itzal watched in..  Albeit surprise as Ariel did exactly as requested of her.  So she could follow orders and advice from others in the heat of battle rather than ignoring and insulting them.  That was a very good sign and he was a bit more relieved now than before.  Itzal turned to Zandra who seemed to have a lot on her mind right now.  He really wished he could talk to her but he knew he couldn't, not in the middle of battle.  As a result, his confliction would rest on his face...Though only Zandra and Domarus would be able to see it if they paid close enough attention.  Itzal held another debuff crystal into the air, and threw it at the boss.  Right before hitting the monster, it flashed and vanished, the song playing in the air, forcing the creature's evasion to drop to negative two.  Anyone who was having issues hitting the d*mn thing would have a lot more help.  "Everyone!  Target the Leviathan!  We can hit our segment once it retreats!"  And with that Itzal charged forward.  As the ice wave came he braced himself as much as he could.  Afterwards he leaped into the air and thrust his blade into the creature's body past it's scales before retreating back to his allies.

The rain kept pouring mercilessly onto them with no sign of stopping. The blonde would examine the weapon on her hand and pull on her spartan cape, the sharp black obsidian and blood red colors were beginning to get tinted by a horrible rust tone. She would feel her movements get sluggish with each passing second: "This isn't how I imagined my return." she muttered as the blonde pulled up her inventory in hopes of finding something that can possibly help revitalize her. "Maybe I missed something out..." she hoped but to no avail. She would hear faint cracking noises around her, too late noticing that the boss' latest attack managed hit her harder than before. " Hnnngggrrrr. " she futilely tried to struggle against the encompassing ice forming on her equipment. Soon enough her actions were sealed in a block of ice, similar to she had seen happening to people around here. She'd notice a set of debuffs appearing next to her HP bar. All she could make was a enraged expression before completely becoming a ice sculpture.

Domarus watched as the boss came into full access for the players to strike.  He was about to launch forward on impulse before something flashed in his mind:  What, about when the monsters came back?  He looked at his energy meter and realized if he continued to attack nonstop then he would have no more energy later on.  At that point the tier three players would be focusing their attacks on the minions as well as the final boss.  He didn't want to slow the fight down because he was reckless and wasted his energy.  After the frostbite blast hit, with Domarus wincing and gritting his teeth but otherwise fine.  He turned to the other players and found that Ariel was frozen.  At least she was helping them instead of going rogue as players did the last fight.  "Hey guys!  I'm going to leave hitting the boss to you!  I'll focus on the small fry.  If I'm going to be use to you further into the fight I'll need to reserve my energy as often as I can.  It's the best way I can think of being useful to you."

The fight was progresing... Averagely. He felt a blast of cold air go over him, though he was lucky, his body shook it off, unaffected by the frost. He used the heat he got from breaking out of whatever it was that tried to overcome him, and went straight for the Leviathan. He punched it right in the face, before running back to the others. He hated this.... He wanted to have a harder challenge.... He looked ath is health, which was consistently going down due to the torrential rain. It was ridiculous... This, this fight was rediculous. He didn't know what to say... He wanted to go back, see Alisea... He had to honor the promise he had made to Katherine, he couldn't break it, he had to get everyone home. But... It might be a release. If he died here, he wouldn't be bringing everyone else down. But, the guild would fall apart... He had to be strong, he had to recover, he had to survive, and he had to improve.

As the incoming high-pressure blast of water came into striking range Calrex quickly stepped to the side as the attack slammed into the sand where he was previously standing a moment ago. The impact kicked up sand left and right until it concluded, the bluenette looking forward as he gave a calming breath, "Now would be as good a time as any..."

Preparing to activate his <<Quick Change>> ability the Grand Legionbane began to glow, but almost immediately afterwards the Ultramarine Knight had to stop to raise his arm as Leviathan's main body unleashed a second blast of frost. Raising an arm upwards to block his helmet he gave a sigh, "Well that was a quick follow up."

Getting ready to move suddenly he felt his entire frame slow, glancing at his status bar as he saw the familiar icon for the Freeze effect, but it seemed to look a bit different from before. In fact, this time felt different from when he fought the revamped Avalanche field monster. He was definitely frozen in place, but the ice seemed to appear sharper than before, not forming large rock-like chunks and instead shaping into fierce icicles over his armor. Metal could be heard creaking as he attempted to move, but nothing seemed to budge at the moment.

"Well, at least my health's fully recovered for now, but I'm a sitting duck for another attack. This would have been a good time to be in my protective gear. Will need to quickly act once I get out of this."

Ruby had got once more pretty hard in which she didn't appreciate at all, Ruby had looked over to the rest of her party that had taken a handful of damage as well. She had sighed, she wanted to spend her action attacking the Segment or even the boss... however her anxiety and her worries is kicking in and she just needed to heal some people. That being said she had activated Field Medic healing her entire party including herself. However looking at Pin it didn't heal him as much as everyone else including Neo. Now she was more than a little worried to her own teammate dying more than ever, if anything she knew that she would have to dedicate her next few turns healing him to prevent his untimely death, even if he had been a little bit of an ass the entire time.

Kairi had looked around as the battle progressed, while Kairi wasn't taking too much she knew that the people around her was in some pretty bad trouble, Pinball and Ruby mostly in her group. She looked over at the Segment and thought to herself that there had to be a reason that it existed there and maybe was connected to the lack of Healing Ruby did toward pinball. So her target shifted to the Segment to take it down, and moving forward with a slash to strike it... she had missed. Her eyes widened a little bit seeing her miss the objective then looked back to everything else. She had sighed and was a little upset toward her failure, however there was just nothing else she could do about it and she just took steps back joining the rest of her party for the things that were to come.

Quick change mask of agressive dragoness for handwraps of accuracy (+3 acc, -27 mit, -54 thrns)

Zandra looked down at her axe. She had missed a lot of hits today. Much more then usually. Also, she was still full health. This battle healing combined with a lot of heahlth buffs was really something she would mention on the next boss raid meeting. So, there was something she could do. Her quick change was down now. She quickly pressed the shortcuts buttons that had popped up after she took the quick change skill. In an instant, her face was clear and handwraps covere her hand under her armoured gloves. She gulped. This was making it better. Her confident rose a bit. She released her strongest sword art, the explode catapult, on both the big dragon itself as well as the fragment that was for the party three that she was in. Her face turned red as the axe missed, again. She bit her lip and at least she managed to land a blow on the fragment, at least doing some damage.

And with another wave of icy cold washing over the frontliners, Pinball was again left rooted in place, unable to move as frost covered him in a thin, full body condom. Pinball grimaced. His health wasn't looking too good. How long was this rain going to last for? Was it the entire boss fight? Pinball felt as though he would only be lasting another round at most, the way its intensity kept increasing. He was about to go for a healing crystal, but the unique Frostbite effect prevented him for using the last item in the pouch on his belt. Instead, he was healed, along with the others, by this blonde chick he still didn't know the name of. Pinball frowned even more. Hopefully the Leviathan didn't suddenly decide it would rather not have to crush armor to get to its food.

Neo was hoping to heal with all of this rain pouring down on her, but thankfully it seemed Ruby had that covered. Perhaps it was fate that the weakest players ended up with the party of two support players, but it was probably a bit more intended than she thought. Than again, it seemed Pinball was doing quite the worse for wear. Regardless, she quickly needed to get in another attack against the leviathan before it raised its head once more out of the arena. Scrambling through other players, she charged up her weapon and let it swing on its own against the boss. She was n't outputting as much damage, but once again having immunity to the frostbite effect seemed to be allowing her to at least get a chance to swing at the boss in stead of being stuck to the beach like so many others. She was ust trying to do her own part.

Players have 72 Hours to post

[Deadline: Monday, May 5th, 2019 @ 1:30 PM PDT]

The players assaulted the head of the leviathan, but it gave no reaction. Even the large strike from the blade of the stealthed one only amounted to a poke to the leviathan. It was impenetrable as far as it was concerned. It's Sahagin minions struck chaos into the party it was near as the leviathan itself spewed pressurized and boiling water into the arena it had created. All the while, rain poured from above taking players down to the final slivers of their health.

As the head of the boss monster retreated, small segments of its body seemed to detach and fall into the arena. They were these strange objects that pulsated with life and covered with some sort of veil. Any that approached them would see them flit away in a different direction. As immobile as they seemed, they were actually quite agile objects. On top of this, their watery veil made it difficult to locate the actual target underneath it. It seemed to be absorbing all the water spewing about the battlefield, though for what purpose, that wasn't entirely clear.

Last Round's Results:

<<Leviathan>> (Targetable for 0 turn(s))  [Stun CD 1/3]
[
                    ]
[                    ]

Ability 2: Frostbite (1/2 CD)

Ability 3: Scald (3/3 CD)

Post words

I glance back and my eyes widen when seeing the actual health bars basically everyone being in the red as i quickly activate Field medic as a green light surrounds the entire party and i see the health return, but not by enough to leave me satisfied in the sense of having overwhelming worry. Ruby! I need you to field medic as well. Neo and Pin can you guys deal with whatever that crystal things is. We don't need a surprise from these things. Kairi i trust that you have the segment, or if you want to rest up to prepare for the next Shahuagin that is a good idea as well. I say towards the group as fast as i can trying to keep calm throughout this mainly from the fact that my group almost died. Cause i didn't do enough in the right areas to keep them up in terms of being useful and supportive towards them as a whole. 'So this thing can do dangerous amounts of damage. That is good to know. Note to future self keep a better eye on such things like health.' If any of you need to leave at all use a TP crystal. It isn't a cowardly move to do so! I say towards them.
