Some he knew better than others, but it seemed like an overall good group of people. Only time would tell of course, but Koga had a good feeling about them. In fact, he was even going mob hunting with one of them today. Koga had arrived a bit earlier to Nature's Treasure than he'd attended, but that was fine with him. He didn't mind a little bit of quite every once in a while. The man leaned against a wall of the garden, a hand on the pommel of Kuiaratame as he chewed on a reed of grass that stuck out from his lips. Koga was a little bit ADD, and he'd developed a habit of chewing on things. At least this time it was grass and not his nails, as usual. Welp, Koga reasoned, NIGHT should be here any minute now. Her stores were near depleted (she felt), and so today, she'd decided to go hunting with a new friend. Apparently, word had gotten around that there was an isolated garden somewhere in town, where materials were bountiful and aplenty -- and that was her destination. NIGHT hoped that she wasn't going to be late. On the contrary, she'd reached the venue a whole minute before the intended meeting time, searching around eagerly to find Koga, who was leaning by a wall and chewing on some grass. Jogging over, she waved to him, giving him a shout. "Hai! Sorry I'm late!" Reaching closer, she took a moment to catch her breath, before looking around. There was a garden near by, sure, but she wasn't exactly impressed with it -- not yet. Pointing, she commented, "So is that the place? Take this lightly, but it doesn't seem anything spectacular to me," she paused, thinking about the possible extents of the garden. "Not yet, anyway. We'll track down and take out as much as we can, yeah?" I dunno why, but I've seen it myself, way more materials and stuff comin' out of here than in other places. We can start grabbing whatever ain't nailed down as soon as you'd like." Last time Koga had been here, he'd come away with some pretty good amounts of loot and materials. As the brick road transitioned to grass, the once densely packed garden changed in her eyes, stretching further and wider, down the side of town. She watched as a handful of other players strolled through the gardens, idly picking up shinies as they so pleased. "Woah," she breathed, unaware. "Okay, where're the enemies..?" The garden was much more peaceful than she had anticipated -- flora of varying spring colors brightened up the area, a sign of obvious and delicate care (on the part of the System, she assumed). Looking around a few patches of trees, she could hardly find signs of one at the entrance. "Maybe we should try further in?" NIGHT was clueless, but she wasn't afraid to give her theory a shot. They were bound to find something eventually after all. And find a something they did. As NIGHT delved further into the labyrinthine garden, with Koga close behind, they came upon three yellow markers. Hostile NPCs who hadn't noticed them yet. Alright, perfect. Koga took a quick peek around the corner to get a better idea of what they were up against. Buzzing in the air were three gigantic Wasps, each head the size of a large beach ball, their wingspan at least twice Koga's height if not more. "Three Giant Wasps. One's a soldier, so more health and damage," Koga informed NIGHT. "Ready? Let's go." As soon as NIGHT was ready, Koga turned the corner and began sprinting at the smaller of the three Giant Wasps. Koga had drawn his sword by the time he got close enough, and with two quick slashes, the Giant Wasp was already in the yellow, with two little symbols of burn and blight appearing next to its name. That one would be dead by the time it attacked again. "Alright, lets just worry about the other two." "Two Giant Wasps," he informed, tracking their movements. "W-Wasps?!" "One's a soldier, so more health and damage." W-wait, I'm no good with bugs-- "Ready?" Koga confirmed, glancing at NIGHT, who was looking on with widened eyes. Seeing no objections from the stunned girl, he proceeded into battle. "Let's go." He ducked out from his position, sprinting behind the shrub. "Ah-- Y-Y-Yeah okay!" NIGHT struggled over, cold sweat running down her skin. She could hear the faint sound of buzzing urging her to back off at every step, and the strikes that Koga was already dealing to the enemy. Pulling out her sword in a novice technique, it shook in her hands as she walked past the shrub, spying the large enemy, partnered with a smaller one. "Alright, let's just worry about the big guy," Koga called out, standing by a burning dead corpse. R-right, I can do this. Shuddering, NIGHT raised her sword up to her cheek, getting into position for a sword art. Ping! In a flash, she cut past the side of the large wasp, tumbling away -- further away than she'd like -- to avoid it. She landed her strike successfully, but fell, and tumbled away. The two Wasps took this to be their opportunity and advanced upon the downed girl. "Look out!" Koga tried to warn as they attacked. Much to Koga's surprise, the mobs took more damage than she did! Well then...Koga could work with that. NIGHT, evidently, could not, as she scrambled away in terror. The man rushed forward and slashed at the Soldier, his blade glowing crimson with the power of his Han'ei, but the Soldier saw it coming somehow and moved out of the way as the attack passed by. That was fine, Koga was where he'd wanted to be now at least, between the Wasps and NIGHT. "What's going on? Are you okay?" When she looked up, Koga was in front of her, back turned. His head tracked the nasty bugs that buzzed and circled around him, wary. NIGHT swallowed, her throat dry from fear, and responded, "W-wasps..." Slowly rising from her fetus position, she got into an improper stance, shaking from her fear. The system registered her intentions anyway, however, and shot her past the smaller of the two bugs. As she crossed Koga from behind, she yelled, as loudly as she could, shoving in all her contempt into her words --- "--- I HATE WASPS!!" With a swift strike, she tore a white-and-red light through the smaller wasp, aggravating it enough to chase her. NIGHT then proceeded to scream, tensing as she refused to turn around to check, running away as the two wasps pursued her comically. These guys were fast. Really fast, this could be a problem. If Koga couldn't hit- "--- I HATE WASPS" A red and white light shot past Koga and struck the smaller Wasp, NIGHT tumbling away from it once more. As she got back to her feet, the Wasps turned towards to attack, and in a fairly ridiculous manner, NIGHT started to run away, the Wasps chasing after her, dealing little more than chip damage, while she mysteriously dealt back even more damage. Koga let his katana fall forward as he stared at the scene in bewilderment. Koga wasn't sure if he should laugh or step in. The man stared for a few more moments, not really worried as it seemed that NIGHT would kill the Wasps by running away long before they got anything done, before he decided to help the terrified girl out. Koga positioned himself right in the path of NIGHT and the entourage of wasps. NIGHT passed by him first, and once she was clear, Koga swung. His katana slammed into the smaller wasp, cleaving it in two. NIGHT sprinted past her party member, hoping to gain distance on her pursuers. On the other hand, Koga slashed at one of the wasps, causing it to fade into obscurity and sparkling lights. He hollered back, watching her run, "Only one more, NIGHT!" "One more really big one!" Reaching the other side of the garden wall, NIGHT turned to face the lone wasp, trying to keep steady and cut past her foe once more. But she miscalculated, and fell onto the large bug's abdomen when she jerked herself forward, expecting a soar through space. The wasp, buzzing angrily, only added more fire to the fuel as it tried to sting NIGHT through her armor. It came up short instead, save for the girl's flailing and floundering. "Why... why are there giant wasps in the garden?! It's nice and peaceful except for you!!" NIGHT rolled back on the ground, stumbling away after she'd escaped the face-frontal encounter with the wasp, trying to outrun the large, still pursuing beast. NIGHT shouted back as she ran herself right into a corner. Honestly, wasn't worried about NIGHT dying anymore. The Wasp couldn't really deal any damage to her...what he was worried about was NIGHT having some terrible mental trauma from all these flying insects. The woman tried to lunge past the Wasp, but somehow landed square in the middle of it before being stung and rolling away from it. Of course, the fixated creature continued to chase her as she shouted, "Why... why are there giant wasps in the garden?! It's nice and peaceful except for you!!". This was probably a good point to bring this fight to a close. Koga rushed forward again, his blade a blood-thirsty crimson, the Han'ei eager to grant it. As his blade cut through the wasp the first time, Koga spun on his heels and slashed again before backing away, the Burn and Blight symbols appearing next to the Wasp's name. And that was that. That's what NIGHT thought, skidding to a halt as she reached the other garden wall, ready to pounce. But when she saw the critter's stripes, speedy wings and absolutely monstrous size, fear absolutely seized her yet again, she quickly changed her mind and bolted the opposite direction, screaming in terror. As she zoomed past Koga at lightspeed, the wasp had decided to give up chasing it's retreating prey, suffering from the effects of its previous hit. It's wings started catching fire as the whole bug fell to the ground after slowing, exhausted -- as much as bugs could bee -- barely managing to make it near Koga before fading into crystal as with the wind. Meanwhile, having noticed a lack of buzzing her way, the girl slowed down and paused by a corner to catch her breath. I'll never come back here again. Not to hunt. The man looked at the blade in his hands. The weapon was serving him well. He was glad that he had gotten it now. He honestly didn't believe he could have survived the encounter without it. The man sheathed the weapon and turned around to NIGHT with an amused smile on his face. "I take it bugs aren't your thing, huh?" he said with a quiet chuckle "I don't think I've ever seen anyone run so fast in my life. Are you okay?" Koga began to look through the loot he'd gotten so far from the combat. Not too bad. A really decent amount of Col and some materials. The consumables he might keep, but the weapon and trinket he couldn't really care less about. "You want some of the Col I got from that? Or the rare trinket or weapon? As she took a short break, she'd forgotten that her level wasn't appropriate for the area anymore. She frowned, thinking. "Actually, I suppose I might just have to hang out for a bit," NIGHT posed, taking a squat upon the floor. "I hadn't even realized I've outgrown this place out of habit. Anyway, if the garden's as plentiful as they say, it shouldn't be long until I find something of worth, right?" Expecting something to appear from the ground on cue, she riffled through the grass, busying herself. Although he wasn't about to complain, he did still bad about it. The girl had dealt decent damage, even if she was running for her life for most of it...and she also ended up running through her life for most of it... The woman dropped to her hands and knees for moment, telling Koga that she was going to sit there for a bit. Koga sat down next to the girl, propping an arm up on his knee as she too sat back. Immediately, NIGHT had a flashback through each time a bug had wronged her. She shifted herself to look Koga directly in the eyes, entirely serious. The girl then began by holding up a finger. "One." "It was late at night, and I was just going to the washroom, right? And as I turned on the lights, guess what flew into my face? A roach!! A flying roach!! I could hear and feel its wings beating at my face from --" and she pinched her fingers. "-- this. close." "Two! I'm over at our school's graduation in the hall. We're having a good time. Guess what decides to fly in and bother me in my ear? One. Moth. In broad daylight. The nerve of it all!" "Three!" NIGHT nearly yelled, breathing hard from the continued story telling. "I'm in my room! My own room. I just want a sip of water, right? I take my cup, I put it to my mouth, and the light catches a myraid of ants hanging on for their dear life in the water. This happens," and she blinked rapidly, to clear her tears, and for excessive emphasis, "for one. Whole. Month." NIGHT turned back around, continue her search, which appeared to be simply tearing out grass at this point. "Bugs owe me for what they've done. You know, if I could even afford to kill them..." An amused smile slowly spread across his face as he listened however, he couldn't help it. It was kind of amusing. The man chuckled as NIGHT came to the end of her story, "Damn, those things are really out to get you, huh? At least it's nothing a nice heavy boot can't fix." NIGHT seemed to absently search the ground for materials, so Koga figured he'd do the same, "Kinda makes you wish we had bug spray here, doesn't it. Imagine how much easier those Giant Wasps would've been if we could've just hit them with a giant fly swatter or something." Koga pictured an amusing image of a grossly oversized fly swatter being wielded by the girl sitting next to him as she wildly swung it in vengeance at the beasts. She propped herself up with her arms behind her. "They're big, so they'd be easier to hit, right? The bigger they are, the harder they fall -- as long as they've got their feet in the ground, anyway." "But bugs?" she continued, working her hands through the dirt. "Bugs are light, fast, fragile, icky, and they can fly." Her hands gripped at the dirt tightly, the player bracing herself from her thoughts. "Break through their shiny bug armor, everything comes out. Is their blood even red? They're so small half the time, you can't even tell." Her moment of scavenging had netted her two shinies in the earth. She picked them out one by one, keeping the first in her inventory. "You know, I'm just glad I'm not running into any of them, smaller, in the dirt. But you're right about one thing," she mentioned, holding up the second material found in between her fingers and showing it to Koga. "This garden's got a lot more of these things than outside of town." NIGHT shot him a genuine smile, before stashing away the item. "Thanks, Koga."
