He slowly reeled in, absentmindedly turning his crank as he thought through his memories of the situation. "He's a player by the name of Hirru. A good man, though he was... confused." When his first cast yielded no results, he began to lengthen his tosses, straining his eyes against the dimness of the cavern. "He had always been an unusual player, but after that fight, I and some of his closer friends spoke to him and... it turns out our situation in SAO had at one point been too much for him and he lost touch with reality, or rather with virtual reality. He believed the bosses - and all mobs, for that matter - to be real, living beings." No returns on his casts. He sighed, deciding maybe it was time to check their perimeter once again. Raidou 1 Posted June 20, 2020 #142 Report Share Posted June 20, 2020 Keeping a watch on Shield's gear while he would retract, attempting to glean and consume the ideal and sentiment left with it as well. It was interesting and odd, that one could be so sickly that a detachment from reality so great would twist an entire perspective. It was clear that this Hirru was sick, and held no place on the front lines or in combat in general. Numbers were not everything, and the ability to act upon them was absolutely the major factor. If one could not hold a strong force of will and mental fortitude that level and strength would amount to nothing: a weapon not swung was as if it never existed at all. It was clear that his companion cared for this individual, having been spoken about twice it would bring to question how Shield saw his ailment. Was it curable? Was it visible when it was? This time, he had been more careful to make sure his pole was nowhere near the water, setting it behind where they had been fishing. It was far from his mind now, which was where he wanted it. With a mountain of loot, only a handful of it potentially useful, Shield continued in hopes of adding to it once again. It's odd that a thing can sit in one's inventory unidentified, then as soon as its looked at properly, a world of possibility can continue to unfurl. We have some high stakes situations coming up. I can only hope that we find quite a lot of interesting possibilities somewhere in this haul. The wider patrol yielded better results. When stepping around the edge of a boulder, Shield noticed that it was in fact only a hemisphere, as if cracked in half long ago and separated from its twin, but where the other half might have been, there was yet another chest hiding in its shadow. Raidou 1 Posted June 20, 2020 #144 Report Share Posted June 20, 2020 A guardian from the water abruptly peels free from the lake, unfortunately for it the chances of it dealing anything notable to either player was abysmal. Even if it could actually deal damage, Raidou was convinced that he could handle it which placed Shield much higher into a spectrum of security. A tiny minnow wiggled his line again, another nuisance eager to create unrequested turbulence. A soft exhale as he simply shook the line until it dropped off, the beast pops upon a stone below. It may have had a use, but given the fact that this was a game of speed not method he'd rather not waste the time preserving it. From the line, Raidou spins it like a sling and releases allowing the bottle to carry it back out. With a plop it disappears beneath the surface rather quickly, the makeshift weight playing its part upon the pole. The lid popped open and a readout of new loot appeared before him. "You know what?" he said slowly, thinking over all of the finds for the day thus far. "I'm okay with all of this. I think we did well for today. It's been long enough that it's probably a good time to stop and drop off our finds to inventory for later." He nodded and collected the contents of the chest, dismissing the window afterward. Rising to his full height, he dusted off and turned back to Raidou. "This was a profitable trip, both for the sake of loot and I think we both also ended up with plenty of new information." He nodded towards the exit. "Care to walk with me back to Tomoika? I see no need to cut the interaction short just because we're done fishing." He stopped by the beach, packing up his gear and banishing the mundane items to his inventory for later trips. "I'm sure we'll find excuses to venture together in the future. Good sounding boards are valuable, as are fervent hunting partners. I know that all these fish will at least play into the market well, need to offer them, and aim for more materials for alchemy. Got a bit of a large order for the frontlines." Raidou remarked giving a bit more information to his partner than he would most, knowing his part to play in the larger fights it was probably more obvious than it would be to most. "I am heading that way myself, I feel as though I've spent a bit more time here than I first anticipated but it all worked out in the end. Thank you for helping me sort my own thoughts even if it was not the intention. You've given me quite a bit to consider. I am sure that when I make this delivery to Jacob's Ladder on the frontlines I'll see you there." he spoke packing up what he had wrought to keep tow with Shield. He knew that Baldur had placed an enormous order with one of the crafting-centered guilds, but then when Jacob's Ladder was mentioned, his suspicions were confirmed. "Well, we can call this serendipity then," he said, opening up a transfer window. "I happen to owe you a large amount of materials for what I believe is that exact same order." He opened another display, which was a ledger with notes regarding how much the guild had decided to put towards each of its many endeavors to equip the front lines, including this order, and began to transfer the amount that Baldur had outlined. Spoiler Post Action - Sending Materials to Raidou: T1 Materials: 256 T3 Materials: 66 Fortunately, he had already had the materials earmarked for the transaction. He just didn't expect to run into the crafter responsible for completing the order by chance any time soon and was planning to make the trip shortly thereafter. With a hint of a flourish of his finger, he sent the items, throwing in a cut of the gold from the chests as well. "I appreciate your help fishing up chests. Hopefully some of the Col from the drops will serve as a thank you, both in patience for payment on the guild's order and your assistance in finding the extra equipment. Here's hoping there's something in this haul that will advance the guild forward." With that, he quickened his pace, making for Tomoika and the teleporter therein to begin going through their finds. There's got to be something worthwhile in this haul...
