[SP-F4] Seeking the Beast on the Mountain

Recommended Posts

Ethereal fell into a snowdrift. Again. This was possibly the most laborious journey he had been on, and he had crossed El Perdido! He felt himself shiver as he tried to push himself off the ground, "Stupid <> skill, not leveled up properly.." he grumbled at his own stupidity. 'You don't need a good <> skill when you're hunting Yetis, oh no.' he scolded himself mentally. Once he got up he looked through the raging blizzard that was spinning around him, one arm over his face, and began plodding through the treacle-like snow towards the fabled Mountain.

He had bought some information from a travelling storyteller that apparently a large, immovable skull lay frozen at the top of this very mountain. As he ascended he heard a ringing starting quiet and gradually getting louder as he ascended. 'What on Earth is that?' he thinks to himself as he takes another small step up the side of the cliff. After around half an hour of pure hiking Ether managed to get to the top and collapsed in exhaustion, he looks up to see a small plateau with a black marble pedestal mounted on it. On top of that was a huge skull.

"Argent, am I dead?" he complained, "No you're just a weakling." he replied. Ether snorted into the snow in annoyance, "You know I'm your master right?". "You keep thinking that, bud.". Eth struggled to a standing pose, snow stuck in the plates of his armour. He plodded towards the skull. "That ringing is really starting to annoy me." he said as he stopped in front of the skull. He realised that it was the skull vibrating at a high speed, causing the sound to be made. He reached out gingerly, touching the skull. Immediately the sound stopped, and Ether relaxed, the affrontation on his ears ceased. "Phew.". A few seconds later another, more feral sound was heard. Ethereal turned to see where the grunting, beast-like noise was coming from.

Two <> seem to have been activated from the interaction with the skull. "Alright then." Ethereal said as he drew his blade. "Which one of you sorry dogs first?" he shouted, charging forwards. He brings his blade down on the first of the wolves. Argent jumps forwards, wings outstretched as he attacks the first as well.

A flurry of white feathers are vomited from the snow. Argent shakes off, still hanging upside-down. He turns, looking down his beak at his master. "Care putting me down now?" he asks curtly. Ether drops him and he lands beak-deep in the snow. "You bloody old bird." he sighed. Argent tugged his head from the drift.

"Why do I even bother with you anymore?" he says jokingly, brushing the snow off his familiar. "Maybe I should get a new rabbit or something." he says as he hold out his hand. Argent hops onto it, as Ether brings the hand to his shoulder the raven says "In your dreams, son.". "Shouldn't we be searching for a yeti or something?" he sighs.

Ether rises, brushing the snow off his armour now. He glances around, having forgotten the skull and the plateau. His eyes lighten as he finds it again. He strolls over, nothing around other than a few large piles of snow. He takes a long look at the pedestal again.

11-20: He finds something
