[PP-F21] Tag Team Challenge! Part 1: The Grind <<Nature's Treasure>>

Recommended Posts

As Vigilon was getting back up, Krysta would finish off the second Goblin Soldier. That was one, who knows how many remain? Whatever the case, it was time for another Area of Effect attack. Problem was, it went just as well as the last, meaning he wasn't able to take down the first one. He did, however, manage to strike the other two, inflicting status ailments on them and ticking them off in the process. The first Goblin Soldier would use its spear to trip Vigilon in midair before he could land a hit against it. It laughed at Vigilon for failing to hit it not once, but twice, then it turned around to attack Krysta, basically, unwittingly, committing its own demise due to her shield, and probably immolation, too. That was two, now to take down the remaining two Goblin Soldiers who Vigilon and Krysta were fighting. "Looking good so far, what say you, Jewel?" Vigilon asked Krysta.

Vigilon would utilize his Area of Effect Sword Art once more, damaging and paralyzing two of them, not to mention inflicting bleed on them, but he missed his original target, which tripped him in midair and laughed at his misfortune. That Very Goblin Soldier would then turn its gaze over to Krysta, and it would move in to strike. Krysta raised her shield, and the Goblin Soldier would perish upon landing its meager blow. Krysta would then ready her weapon, and finish off one of the remaining Goblin Soldiers. Of the eight Goblin Soldiers that remained in the vicinity of this combat against all the teams, only one was left facing Vigilon and Krysta. The Goblin Soldiers, by the looks of things, were starting to realize they had lost this battle. Some of them began to try and flee from their opponents, but surely it would be to no avail, due to the players' side of the conflict having their motives. Vigilon asked Krysta a question, which she would answer with, "Victory is at hand!"

Krysta would finish off the third Goblin Soldier, and answer that victory was at hand. Vigilon charged up his Sword Art, Delayed Sword, and finish off the Fourth Goblin Soldier. As Vigilon was doing this, the other remaining Goblin Soldiers were killed by the players fighting them as they tried to flee, knowing this was a losing battle. "And that's the last of that bunch." Kanari remarked after finishing off the last Goblin Soldier. Dazlea seemed a bit suspicious, though. "These Goblins...they were like some sort of defense blockade. Were they always here, waiting, or did they find us, seeing a reason to form one? Who knows what the answer could be...aside from that, It's time we move forward." She said.

"Word up." {Scarlet} responded. "See you guys later, We're going on ahead!" She said as she rushed towards the depths of the Cavern. "What's with the rush? Given the amount of Goblins we just fought, she'll probably get swarmed if she just rushes in on her own like that..."

Vigilon would strike down the last of the Goblin Soldiers that he and Krysta were facing, and the other goblin soldiers would be slain as they tried to flee. Once the battle was done, some of the players remarked that the soldiers seemed to be some sort of blockade, and were theorizing as to why. {Scarlet} would rush in towards the next area blindly, as Shadowynd followed her lead. "Perhaps they were guarding something nearby." Krysta guessed. She would take a look around the room of the cavern, but there was nothing to be found, save for the pathway to the next area of the depths. "Clearly, we must press onward if we are to find anything at all. We mustn't let Team Rogue gain the upper hand, should they know how to deal damage against groups of four, slowly slaying all the goblins around." Krysta noted, in case the course of action was not obvious.

Some shouting could be heard over from where Team Rogue had rushed over to. Sounds like there was more than some simple fighting going on. "Yeah, we should definitely investigate, since there's no other route to take just yet." Vigilon agreed.

The teams would head down the only available path, and when they arrived, they would see a ruckus. Four players were present, two of them being Team Rogue, and two others that hadn't been spotted yet today. One of them was a familiar face. "April?!?"

Indeed, Auranika was there. With another player, trying to fend off the Goblins surrounding her, her ally, and Team Rogue. "We would have had them if you two hadn't shown up and devastated our chances." Auranika called out to {Scarlet}. Clearly, the two players must have had this complex plan and the arrival of Team Rogue wrecked it. "I'll at least try to keep us alive to the best of my ability!" Auranika's ally offered.

"How about some reinforcements?" Vigilon suggested from a distance, catching the attention of four Goblin Soldiers. Here we go again...

Vigilon knew that he might have the upper hand if he both struck first and timed his attacks well. He would manage to deal damage to all four with Tornado Kick, paralyzing three of them with well-placed attacks. While the damage might not have been ideal, he was satisfied with what he could accomplish. The other teams rushed past Vigilon to engage in combat with the other Goblin Soldiers surrounding the four cornered players. Time for Team Castle to shine again, it seems.

As the two players entered, they found Team Rogue and another duo within a dispute in the middle of combat. Krysta turned her head towards where she and Vigilon had just come from, and called out, "A swarm of enemies are upon four players! We must come to their aid!"

She then drew her weapon, and joined Vigilon in facing the four Goblin Soldiers that he had managed to strike. She attacked the one with the highest remaining HP, using the Sword Art known as Over Radiation. The monster's HP fell into the red, it would not be long before the battle was over, now that more of the players were arriving to put a stop to these creatures. Vigilon seemed to know one member of the other duo, so perhaps Krysta would speak to them once the Goblin Soldiers were defeated. At least the players' priorities were straight, as of the moment.

Auranika was a bit surprised to find players coming in droves so suddenly, with Vigilon and his girlfriend arriving first. Then again, seeing how these two players who disrupted the original plan unwittingly whipped the goblins into a frenzy, she didn't mind this surge in reinforcements. "We actually could use your help right about now." She remarked in response to Vigilon's offer. Those words, while appreciated, were not necessary, as all the players had already arrived to take on the excess Goblins by now.

Krysta severely weakened one Goblin Soldier, and Vigilon attacked all four enemies in the opposing monster group, finishing off the one Krysta damaged as he did so. "One down, three to go!" He thought aloud as he noticed that there were no more excess goblin soldiers at this point. Each one had a duo to face, and they were all in groups of four. This whole thing just might be easier than expected.

The other teams arrived, and the "moderators" who were to keep an eye on what was supposed to be an organized raid found themselves amidst the chaos of battle. every player in the vicinity was now in combat, and whatever they had hoped to achieve before, was no longer of any concern. There were only Goblins and Players, struggling to be the only ones standing. One Goblin that was without a combatant, emerged from his little hole in the cavern, and saw what was only imminent failure. If anything, his allies should die with high morale, that their deaths would not be in vain. He took hold of his crudely made "staff", and climbed up to a ledge, where the whole battle was in his view.

Krysta was ready to make her next move, but what she did not expect was the presence of this one Goblin atop the ledge, which had only one thing to utter out aloud, the voice of the creature being loud enough for all in the battlefield to hear.

"Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Krysta stopped, and looked towards the creature, who repeated this call.

"Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The remaining Goblin Soldiers all raised their spears, repeating this apparent war cry.

"Lin! Lin! Lin! Lin!"

With the Goblins' morale restored, the one Krysta was fighting was ready for her attack, and managed to disarm her. All this time of using this weapon, and yet here she was, still being disarmed often.

Chaos. Just Chaos.

Oh, and Goblins, too.

As the battle raged, one Goblin who had no opponent, climbed up to a ledge and raised its crude staff, calling out towards the battlefield. This rallied the Goblin Soldiers, for whatever reason, and the enemies started chanting whatever the one with the staff said.

One thing, though...what the heck did "Lin" mean?

Vigilon watched as one of the Goblin Soldiers disarmed Krysta. "Oh no you don't." Vigilon thought, before jumping right into their formation and attacking with Tornado Kick. The attack caused all three enemies' HP to drop into the red, and with all their rage, they all tried to jab their spears at Vigilon. Unfortunately for them, he'd proven himself to be a nimble opponent, angering them even further, due to not being able to reach him. "Try and get me if you can!" Vigilon taunted, seeing that he had the enemies' attention. He quickly moved to the side, and handed Krysta back her weapon. "Won't be long now." He reassured.

Vigilon would turn the tide back in the players' favor, severely weakening the three Goblin Soldiers he and Krysta were in combat against, and returning Krysta's weapon to her. "This battle shall be over shortly."

She would use a simpler sword art, Rip Ravine, to finish off one of the Goblin Soldiers. Now only two of the four they were facing remained, and both were weakened greatly. The Goblin with the crude staff clearly wasn't in the mood for remaining in a losing battle, and with a scowl, he raised its staff, pounded it against the ground of the ledge he was on, and then he was gone.

The other players continued to clash against their enemies, and the Goblin Soldiers were starting to dwindle in number. The battle was practically already won, but the Goblin Soldiers who were still standing continued to fight the players, despite their imminent defeat that would soon arrive.

Goblin Soldiers were shattering one by one, clearly the players had already won, and were finishing off the last of the enemy forces. Vigilon activated Tornado Kick one last time, and it was over. The last two Goblin Soldiers screeched and shattered, and only players remained in the vicinity. With the issue now handled, Auranika decided for her and her ally to have a peaceful conversation with Vigilon and Krysta. "Well, now that those goblins are out of the way..." She began, before looking to Krysta. "I don't believe we have met. I go by many names. The Golden Dragon, The Angelic Warrior, Auranika, Lady April. Feel free to call me what you prefer." She introduced. Her ally seemed to be the cheery and energetic sort. "Hi~! I go by Serafi, nice to meet you two!" She said to the two players. "Nice to meet you, Serafi, I'm Vigilon." Vigilon greeted.

The duo that had apparently been within the area before the players rushed in had approached Vigilon and Krysta. One Greeted Krysta in particular, while the other greeted both players. The one who greeted Krysta only, why, she looked familiar... "Indeed, we haven't met. However, I do recall having seen you...that grand party over in the first floor, your ally announced your arrival, did he not?" Krysta remarked. "I would prefer your username for the time being. Pleasure to meet you, Auranika, I am Krysta." She introduced.

She then looked to the other player. "And a pleasure to meet you too, Serafi." She added with a smile.

Mitria, meanwhile, was looking around this room of the cavern, seeing all kinds of markings. "Wow...what were these Goblins doing, I wonder?" She thought aloud, lost in her research for but a short moment. "Oh, that's right, I should probably speak about..."

Mitria climbed up to the ledge, and decided to try announcing something. "So, It looks like our calculations ended in some kind of failure. We'll still compensate you, don't worry! After all, with all the Goblins gone, my friends and I have a brief respite we can use to study this place! ...Say, there might be some other things you could do for your little competition...if you're still interested, that is." She said to the players, who were all in the room.

Auranika smiled, appreciating that she had been recognized, despite not being met just yet. "Glad you remembered me...I do recall seeing your face, too, now that you mention it...I will admit, your singing talent is a good one, you actually surprised me on that stage. It may have been a while since I last sang, but I want to see how well our voices do when we sing." There was an ulterior motive to this, as Auranika wanted to have a chance to prove herself greater for the sake of her reputation. And Vigilon could tell, for he had been around her long enough to figure that out...and Vigilon knew that, at least in his own personal opinion... "Try as you might, April, but I'll always think her voice is better." He said, finishing his thoughts aloud. "Pay no mind to that remark, Krysta...after all, competition like that is between Vigilon and I specifically...Alex, have you been hanging around that scourge again?" Vigilon placed a hand on his forehead. "April, Amelia's not a scourge, you two just don't get along due to opposing ideologies." He responded.

Mitria spoke, but the thought of potential competition got Auranika to raise an eyebrow... And while {Scarlet} seemed upset over not claiming Victory on this day, the thought of potential victory later on still seemed feasible. "Well in that case, keep us posted, you kinda owe us." She remarked.

Auranika decided to respond to this. "Competition, you say? I'm interested."

Auranika recognized Krysta from the time she sang at the party's stage. From what Vigilon saw in her words, she was hoping to compare her voice to Krysta's. Auranika asked that Krysta pay no mind to the remark, and- Ah, that's right, Vigilon and Auranika were rivals. The two then seemed to speak of Kanari for a short moment, from what Krysta could guess, as she had indeed revealed her real name as Amelia, which Vigilon had mentioned. "Opposing ideologies?" Krysta repeated. "Are either of you willing to give me some context about that?" She asked.

Before Krysta could get her answer, Auranika listened to Mitria's words, and decided she was interested. "Oh, hey, haven't seen you there! I'm Mitria of the Aincrad Research Commission, nice to meet you!" Mitria began. "We gather Lore and Intelligence on Aincrad, for our own purposes, and to serve as a collective group of informants for players who need the info we find. This little competition started with a need for these players to test themselves, so we kinda volunteered to be the moderators in exchange for being able to research the area without danger as they cleared it out. As I'd stated, they'll still be compensated despite the er, issue. There's more places to research where that came from, so feel free to sign up if you'd like! I just need the username of yourself and one ally, as well as your 'team name' for this Tag Team Challenge!" Mitria explained.

Auranika looked to Serafi, who nodded in agreement. "A Challenge like this should have many benefits for all parties involved. I am Auranika, Leader of the Angelic Brigade. My ally here is Serafi, a fellow Guild member." She said to Mitria. "As for the team name, you could just put down 'Team Seraph'."

Vigilon, meanwhile, as Mitria was explaining the scenario to Auranika, decided to talk to Krysta about her question. "About that...Amelia and April...are Enemies. Maybe not to the point of Bloodshed, but you could say they don't tolerate each other. Amelia has a Chaotic, all-freedom ideology, while April prefers a more organized system...that acknowledges her and her worth. Amelia sees April as a malevolent conqueror of words, while April views Amelia as a malignant, disorderly scourge." He revealed. "As a result, they hate each other."

Akudo scratched his head as he thought for a moment. "We're both informants, but unless we join them, it'll be too easy to see them as competitors, wouldn't you think, Keita? I mean, I won't join them if you won't, but there may be some benefits from working with others...if you're alright with still being part of the same team as me, maybe I could find a better way to greet ya next time. Whaddya think?" He asked his teammate.

Vigilon explained to Krysta how Kanari and Auranika were enemies. It made sense, they clearly seemed to be opposites in their own regards. The only thing Kanari seemed to take pride in was her sense of freedom, and her apparel gave the impression of a raging storm, but it was also similar to what may have been reminiscent of a female biker's outfit. Auranika, on the other hand, practically wore arrogance on her person. No practical armor would be forged from gold, and what kind of statement would those metallic wings give? Did she truly see herself as angelic? Clearly this woman knew nothing about such things. However, was there a reason she desired to be acknowledged in such a way? Was it truly self-centered, or was there something driving that desire?

That mystery would need to be answered at another time. "I...see..." Krysta responded.

Keita listened to Akudo's words. True, she and Akudo could both benefit from receiving intelligence from fellow informants, and vice versa, but because said intel would be spread to all members, the one who gets paid would depend on who was the most likable of the informants, or even chance, like a roll of the dice. Intelligence would become common, rather than valued. It would be difficult to put a price on intelligence if it were to become common. "The offer has its pros and cons...I'll think about it, though the likely answer is no. Go ahead, though, challenge yourself to be a better man to all those women who you desperately seek out. Whether or not you'll get anywhere with me is still a mystery, but for now I won't stop you from trying." Came her detailed response.

Kanari made her way through the small crowd of players, with her partner Shuliik following close by. When she was close enough to speak to Auranika, she remarked, "Well, well, well...how nice of you to join in. Your main rivalry might be with Alex, but personally, I can't wait to kick your a** in this little game." Shuliik also had something to say on this. "She's serious on this one, Queenie. We've had some time to develop our teamwork, so you'll need to give it your all if you wanna beat Team Typhoon, let alone the Power Couple, Red Eyes and Princess, known in this little challenge as Team Castle." He added.

"Castle, hm? Why that name? I'm just curious is all." Auranika asked. "Red Eyes: Dragon. Princess....uh...Princess." Shuliik answered. Auranika laughed. "Why not go with 'Team Tower' if that's the theme they're going with?" She replied. "That's Dragoncist!" Vigilon shot back upon hearing that. There was no way Vigilon was gonna just let that stigma slide like that. Not way. At all.

Aside from that little moment of chaos, Dazlea looked to Morgan♥, who had been a dependable ally during this battle. "I wouldn't mind Team Rose continuing on with this Challenge, what do you think?" She asked.

The two enemies appeared to be more than willing to compete against each other. At least they appeared to be capable of keeping it civil, as there was no need to bring it to any form of bloodshed just yet. Auranika made a demeaning remark on the reason behind the team name Vigilon and Krysta had chosen, and laughed about it, too. Vigilon shot back at her, clearly unwilling to put up with the usual stigma. Not all dragons were bad, but people loved to tell stories about slaying them...perhaps there were ulterior motives behind such things within folklore... Krysta wasn't too happy about the demeaning remark, either, as it also referenced her in a derogatory manner. "I may be easily seen as a Princess...but do not dare think for a second that I would ever be the helpless sort."

Morgan nodded in agreement to Dazlea's words. "Team Rose will win the later Challenges. We can consider this to have been practice, I guess."

Shadowynd looked to his superior. "Don't sweat it, we can bamboozle these idiots. I'll see what I can do to learn about this 'Research Commission', see if I can't get us an advantage..." He whispered to her, as to reassure her.

The squabble of words over Auranika's remark was swift in its arrival, but it ended just as quickly, for silence followed Krysta's words. She would have had a greater effect if she had drawn her weapon, but there was no enmity between her and Auranika as of yet, so it was for the better, actually. Well, there was a disrupted competition, but it wasn't like it was all for naught. There was some loot that Vigilon and Krysta had gained from their battles, and there were more chances to prove their worth to the other players coming up.

{Scarlet} thought about Shadowynd's words for a moment, then she shrugged and said, "Well, prolonged as it may be, I'll be the winner of this little side plot...one way or another..." A smirk formed on her face as the gears began turning in her devious mind...

Vixie looked to her ally, Laida. "So, you wanna stay teamed up for this little thing?" She offered.

Vigilon looked around him, seeing all the players he'd be competing against in a friendly challenge yet to come. Then he looked to Krysta. "What do you think of going for top three? You, me, Team Castle. Let's do this thing."

This may have been the end of an unexpected mess, but it was the beginning of something else. Where would this lead?

Laida was willing to continue working with Vixie in this Challenge. "We'll do our best!"

Team Typhoon, Team Nightshade, Team Rogue, Team Rose, Team Autumn, Team Seraph, and Team Castle.

Seven Teams, Fourteen Players, and an unknown amount of objectives.

It all weighed heavily, but through perseverance, Krysta and Vigilon just might be able to pull this off. There was much to do ahead of the players, and now...

Vigilon looked over to Krysta. "What do you think of going for top three? You, me, Team Castle. Let's do this thing." He suggested. Krysta smiled. "I accept that challenge. May we manage to claim victory, and may all teams manage to grow stronger in this Challenge." She decided.

It would be a long time before the challenge could actually begin, as life in Aincrad had yet to change drastically...
