[F21-PP] Another test (Nature's Treasure)

A road most traveled, for few but he. The city of Tomoika was all too familiar in its littering of multi hued crystal that acted like lanterns, the smell of damp stone and variable sulfur that stuck in the air laced with that of soot. This small settlement was displaced and outside of the scope of what was frequented, surely seeing the boost in activity when it was fresh but has sense tinged to dormancy. The nomad was no stranger, moving through the mostly NPC filled walls toward the board for which he never offered pause.

No, for this was a day by day and if he brought conversation with him the NPC would have surely known him by name. But it was more fitting: the silence, for he'd not waste his prospects on idle chatter. The board chimes, and with one fluid flick it scrolls at a blinding pace. Locking it dead with muscle memory and a pressed index, Nature's treasure occupies the right side of his screen. Back to bolstering the base line, while in the same breathe he'd understand himself just a bit better.

Walking into the thickened yellow fog, ushering himself deeper along the winding paths that lead north via memory. It was written in his little black book, but ripe enough in his mind that he knew where to head. Removing from its scabbard Auric Sol, which hummed in the light as the swordsman drug the pillar fragment down the blade to amplify it. It would serve as a torch as well as a tool for reaping the wheat. He'd given them too much time to bolster their ranks, it was due to clean the plate.

The insistent chattering of teeth and spiny sharp legs gave way to the location of said entity: Spiders. They had made a nest upon the ceiling in thickened varied webbing but took to the ground to hunt. What, the swordsman could only offer speculation. With a sudden and almost violent tear, the ground seems to shake as one wide blow shreds through a fair portion of what they had. This newfound speed was adding more fuel to the fire, causing them to scatter like a smoothed stone upon a lake.

They begin to peel from the floor, limbs snapping a bit trying to regain their buoyancy and stand. They seemed weakened but determined. Good... rung through the wanderers head, for if they expired to hastily he'd have no ample dataset to compare. Flipping his grip and priming for a rebuttal as his opponents, the enemy force began to set upon him in droves. Now to test his defenses.

The first leaps and is battered to one side, as it scrapes down the blade in a shower of sparks before glancing to one side. The others were not so lucky, being swat from the air and snapping against the cavern walls. The last going for his heels finds steel as Raidou shoves the blade down blocking it before ripping and twirling the weapon through its back with a crunch. Although damaged, it lunges and scrapes his thigh in rebuttal doing a minor tick of damage upon his health bar. "That will do you no good, although I must commend you for attacking while my guard was down."

Raidou Recovers 81 HP via BH

It continued to dig away at his leg, doing less damage than his health was recovering. He'd pay it a quick swipe after ripping free his blade, which fails to dislodge it before he is forced to right his grip and spin the weapon back. His companions, languishing on empty did their best to aid its efforts. It would not matter. Flashes of steel in yellow cause scattering data and pops in sequence glow of blue as shards of what seemed like glass sent in bouncing array to the stone around them. Gusts of wind cause his crimson robe to flutter aggressively.

Raidou offers pause and looks down, fixing the frames upon his nose before the word "You should probably let go, your options are running low." Spoken as the chattering of more begin to press in. It releases and hisses, backing away having just realized it was isolated and seemed smart enough to wait for reinforcements. "Let them come, I need a larger sample size."

Raidou Recovers 81 HP via BH

As quickly as his rival soldiers come, the red wanderer acts in silence. A hum of a sword art is the only spoken word, the first to connect being that which was retreating. The blade connects and carries clean, through the opposition before tearing it in twain. Coils of black fire from his back scooping those around close in proximity, pivoting and continuing the stroke it passes smooth like a hot knife through butter. Armor meant nothing, resistance meant nothing.

He was becoming absolute, finally reaching the climax he so desired to consider himself fit. Where such finality had stemmed? time... persistance... endurance... and power. With a spin of his body and changing his domanate leg, vaulting, and building distance his weapon tore up in a diagnal hold. Into a defensive riposte stance, they would regret a counter should they choose to make one. This was his truth, a lesson that the system had still failed to learn.

Another tear against that which had risen to meet him, a blinding flash of yellow cuts sections of HP bars away in one terrifying swoop of his blade. To half, it connects, while others take a moment to duck instead of swing. It glances and casts sparks against toughened hide that act as shields. They then choose to aim for a counterattack, a foolish endeavor. The spider took turns lunging and bouncing off of his own stalwart defenses, giving him more proof with each successive parry that they could not breakthrough. Raidou was not one to be prideful, to allow ego to cloud his judgment but this was proof that his mind was still keen, clean, and absolute. They falter and wane landing off center from the point of impact, a twist and a hiss brought them realigned to their intended prey. But they were the prey in this little act.

The arachnid was foolish enough to assume they stood a chance, and the swordsman aimed to evidently prove it although his opponent would hardly understand or remember such a thing. The proof lies upon himself, another account to which to refer and grow was the goal. He'd never assume his strength but test it, and it was little bouts like these that allowed the exam to commence. Practiced as skills only did some of the work, it still took a level head and observation to fill in the gaps. His stats were fair, but he'd make damn sure his wit and reflex matched them. Although he despised the notion, his background had taught him that becoming fluid and acting correctly on reflex cut down on a more active approach. For the chosen action came at a reduced pace, one he could not afford it to take. But reflex, muscle memory came instantly.

As fast as his opponents fall the number replenishes, as expected they were given just a bit too long to regrow in the count. Suitable it was for this little pull, checking his statistics for effectiveness. Sprint triggers and fires him forward as if shot from a cannon, a displacement of dust in a ring around where he stood as he took to the offensive. The first he connects with shatters, the momentum carrying its now shattering carcass and the bladesman who had wrought it forward. A drop of his heel against the stone beneath as he anchors and turns. A blinding rotation rips Auric sol in one wide sweep. One is smart enough to hunker down, while the other two get blindsided and scatter to the walls about. Slamming into roughened walls as HP plummets, it was fierce and gruesome but upon Raidou's face was a calm and placid expression.

His targets bend and slide down the walls, seemingly concussed by the impact of the vanguard captain. Overwhelmed they attempt to group up, moving close together before attempting to storm the figurative gate. This plays in a way that the cardinal had not predicted, as Raidou sways and drops the blade low. Turning his back as a feint and using his perceptions to gain where they were. It appeared as though all this listening, watching, and reading had done him some good. He could judge distance without sight. As they closed upon him, he rips the blade up as he twists on the ball of his heel and like a cleaver the blade pounds through the mass in one fell swoop. Crushed flat under the sheer power as provided by the system, they languish and struggle as fake green tears show upon their frames. The spiders had lost this fight.

Before the creatures can right themselves, Raidou flourishes the blade across his body to the left side. A hue of yellow painted upon it bright enough to illuminate the area. "You've lost, best to just accept it." they squirm and one manages to its feet before it falters and drops. A tear of the blade across causes two to shatter, the prompts upon his HUD proving their demise. "And then there were two." Spoken as an observation, no hatred, no pride it felt plain. The respective HP totals dwindled, one so critically in the red a sharp breeze would end it while the other within a threshold Raidou knew it would die to the next hit. Spinning the blade in his grasp, the onslaught still reactive as they lay succumbed to their own weakness. The player had proven his superior tactics had worked, leaving those that remained as nothing more than a loose end to clip, burn or tie up.

With his still plain expression, he does them mercy whipping the blade back with relative ease. They had no defenses to punch through, helpless and prone. They expire in a parade of blue glass shards in a spray, the detonation casting his robe into a violent sway. Taking his finger to his nose to correct his glasses a muttered word: "So I stand while you do not, efficient and as expected. It would appear, you lost the moment I came to you." he'd speak to the absence of a corpse as if it would respond. Spinning the blade in his grasp before it takes hearth behind his right shoulder, next to its brother in darkness the black star. I will need to check the numbers, keep them culled and manageable but first... thought as he takes an eye to his stamina, knowing that he'd need to let it refresh beforehand.

Relaxed EN Recharge [1/2]

His weapon sheathed he'd move from where he may be interrupted, down the winding paths back toward the mining town of Tomoika. The soft glow of the pillar fragment guiding his way, to which he finds his alcove to which he always enjoyed a peak. It was as ripe as expected, untouched by all but a select few and his careful hand. To a patch of gold that was today's chosen growth, Raidou moves and begins to pluck away rather quickly. It was here he began to analyze the flow of combat, how it may be changed, or righted to become even more fluid. The key to his success was constant action met with reflection, his gains shown upon his stats like wildfire. With a deft hand, they are ushered to the satchel after tapping on his thigh, placed in the leather pouch until they were needed later to make more defensive strengthening draughts.

Rustling about as he combed the patch of Golden Thread's, lapping up rather rapidly what it had in store. Each with a rhythm of being plucked, tapped to his thigh, and then placed carefully into his inventory it showed his methodical and learned approach. A show of a shift of his stamina bar showed upon his HUD, alerting him that it was time to switch gears again. Drawing Auric Sol and ripping the pillar fragment down its length, it begins to glow again. "It's time I finished this, I have more to attend to." Raidou mutters as he ushers toward where the beasts took up a hearth, the nest would soon be nearly empty. To his senses, the clattering of feet was still ever present, showing that the count was still quite large given the distance. He'd not slay them all but rather, cull it down to a manageable size for if a player needed them they'd be here.

A blur of red and a flash of yellow, he knew where they were through sound alone. Striking fast and hard, one of his targets manages to leap and latch to the ceiling while the remainder gets bashed and knocked asunder. Raidou brandishes and skids to a halt with a turn, ripping his blade up with a quick spin and anchoring it in front of him with a raised hand. The point tilted toward his left shoulder, acting as both a sword and a shield. His style in defense still ever present, as his aim was stability not extraordinary albeit risky forms of power. Already he was showing force, his opposition being winded and concussed save but one who eyed him from above. It looks on to find an opening, sizing up the wanderer clad in red for an opportunity to attack. It would regret not acting quickly, as his barrier had been formed.

The spider he had missed drops from the ceiling above, a quick flourish rips his blade up like a bar and cleaves a section from it with a compliment of sparks. Those that littered the chamber rushed to aid its kin but did nothing more than increase his yield. As the first rockets away, Raidou pivots and blocks the first attack and offers a jab of his off hand before an upward slash carves through an eye causing it to screech in anguish. The following two blows come from both angles, to which Raidou takes a hasted step back and allows them to collide. Fiddling with the frames on his nose he breathes out in a long exhale, watching the rabble attempt to form some sort of cohesion against him. Like the henchmen in an espionage film, they seemed incapable. Lifting the blade and his left arm in perpendicular, palm facing out with the point following suit in ignites.

The solarite blade held aloft for but a moment before Raidou seems to vanish. A shockwave of dirt and debris in his wake before he slams into the pair that had just collided, one surviving and skipping while the other simply expires into data. Exploited and damaged they all are drained of strength, incapable of picking themselves from the floor enough to attack. The red wanderer was in fact overwhelming, but with it brought no ego. He could always be more routine and more practiced, he hardly considered himself perfection as some might in such an instance. Every experience was an attempt to change and alter how things would play out, and this was nothing more than the fruit made to bear. Righting himself and retaining his stance, shifting from offense to defense on a dime was starting to become a signature for him. He had traveled a long way from the boy fighting a rock for days.

But somewhere deep inside, he was still that boy with nothing more than a deeper understanding and still humbled. He'd swing again and within his attack were two more bursts and demise. This culled all but one lonely and isolated beast, flourishing his steel up and prepping as the final target stood against him. Where it would fall lay as a factor yet to be determined for it was a fact that once cornered these beasts had a way. That way being of more ferocity, desperation took hold. He'd treat it no differently than a pack, for it was just as dangerous and he was not one to take a risk. It lunged and clashed against his weapon all the same in a shower of sparks, but there was no falter upon the red wanderer. He was keeping a clear head and an empty stare, with a correction of the glass on his eyes.

With his weapon connected with the arachnid whose limbs threatened to pour over his risen blade, Raidou backlashes and presses a riposte through its abdomen in a sudden high pitch whir that casts it into the rough cold grey below. It slides and grinds amongst the ground, sustaining even more damage to the point it struggles to stand up. It begins to curl up, for what remained unseen but it appeared to languish as only a sliver of red composed its bar. The nomad, its aggressor began to follow to it in slow and cautious footsteps. He'd assume it was out of the ability to reach him, so he'd have to be the one to close that gap. Lifting the Auric Sol up and twisting his grip, he'd aim to coup de gras with a downward stab in one fair motion, in a meticulous and practice fashion that was nothing more than what he was.

Dropping the hammer in through it's manifested wire, it pierces the stone beneath it. Raidou seems unfazed as it flickers and disperses like ash, leaving nothing more than the absence of sound in his wake. A spin of his blade finds its shelter in its sheathe, removing the light source from his pocket now that his blade could no longer act as a lantern "That should suffice." Raidou comments to the emptiness that surrounded him. He'd head for the clearing, to grab the final few pieces of plant matter that he had sought before returning for the evening. The one thing these little cullings lacked was a fair resource in materials, to which he'd have to bolster carefully as he could not risk the supply running bare. Constant and perpetual motion forward was his drive and a lack of oil to lubricate the machine was the quickest way to have it grind to a halt.

The same cluster of plants still awaited him, and the final few that remained mature enough to be removed were quickly done and added to his bag. A simple endeavor like a chore, but with it a whole new sense of perspective. This newfound speed was proving amicable and the wanderer begins to struggle to see how he may continue to develop. It seemed that his days were taking a toll on his ability to grow in the form of overflowing, but it was a good problem to have. Back to the confines of the city, still rather barren from an activity outside his own which was owed to the timing. An early morning combined with its undesirable local made for a quiet place. Ushering to the board and completing his trek all the same in routine, Raidou takes to the warp gate. A flash of blue removes him, until tomorrow.
