[Special Dungeon]Norsing Around.

Recommended Posts

Zandra was excited to fight a new enemy. They had never fought this thing before, so wit was a complete new experience. She saw Itzal using one of the debuff crystals on the boss. Zandra glanced on its healthbar. It would probably not be needed yet, but she kept that thougth to herself. After him the rest of the party all followed up, dealing quite a huge punch of damage together. When Zandra saw Oscar swinging Teseleths fury, the special feeling came back to her. The feeling of swinging her weapon against the enemy. And with strike after strike, steadily beringing its health down, until totally vanquishing íts health down to zero. And that was what she was gonna do with her partymembers today against this dude. And with that she attacked again, let her weapon fall on Hrym. She didn’t dealt that much damage on the bar as she usually do on wemaller weaker mobs, ofcourse. But enough for them all to finish this relatively quickly. ‘’Keep up the preeassure! We are taking him down.’’

‘’Keep up the preeassure! We are taking him down.’’

And they most certainly were. Oscar was surprised at the rate in which the team they'd put together was shredding the boss. They were even down a member to boot! Heeding Zandra's words, Oscar rushed forward, Tesseleth's Fury ablaze with ebon fire. He stepped forward, entering into a batter's stance. And like a trained baseball player, Oscar swung up and around. His axe clocked Hrym under the chin, a burst of black fire punctuating the blow. The already-battered health bar of the giant took another significant dip as Oscar's blow connected, leaving the creature open for one of his allies to deal the killing blow. With much pomp and fanfare, Oscar stepped aside and beckoned the path up to the boss in an overstated and haughty manner. If he’d had a trumpet, he would have heralded the potential last hit with a blast from it.

"Alright, who's gonna get that last hit?"

When no other Players claimed the final hit, Lessa lifted a gauntlet-clad hand. “I guess I volunteer as tribute,” she stated, then paused to roll her shoulders beneath her heavy armor. The battle was proving far more straight-forward than she had anticipated, and their little party was doing a fantastic job whittling away at the boss’ health. Lessa never could have imagined that they would have him down to nothing in only a couple of attacks each. Would their luck hold, or was this TOO easy, and a signal that things would only get harder?

Hefting Scarecrow’s Sickle up to eye level again, the blonde poured energy into the blade. Only when it burned as hot as the ore in her forge did she explode forward, slashing wildly. In a heartbeat, Hrym’s health plunged into the negative. Now it was his turn to explode, showering Lessa with bits of shimmering data. “Got ‘im,” she exclaimed, grinning.

A smile on Zandras lips as she see the last of Hrym’s HP disappear and the big man starting to shatter into a sea of blue and white crystals. ‘’Easy peasy.’’ She gladly say to others. ‘’Well, this was a pretty eas…’’ but she got interrupted right in her sentence as she getting thrown to the side. She tumbles a few feets on the deck before she stops. She is pulling herself up with the help of the railing on the ship, and keeping her grip tight since the whole ship had started to shake. The barrels and crate on the deck got thrown around. When she looked over the side of the ship she saw the source of the storm. With no captain to steer the ship, they had gotten trapped in a whirlpool. ‘’Hold tight everyone! This is going to be bumpy ride.’’ She said as she sat down and tightly hugged a nearby pole. Suddenly Zandra see’s something in the water, but before she can spot what it is, everything darkens and her mind fades out into nothingess.

When she wakes up she is surrounded by fog. Her eyes scanning the surroundings, looking for her party members. After some time they are all together and continue their journey. Suddenly they arrives in a large open chamber, with a throne on the opposite end. The woman on the throne that she first thougth maybe could tell them where they were, suddenly made sure to know that she was their enemy. ‘’Oh god, that is something we cant leave alive.’’ Zandra said and without waiting for an answer, she exploded forward, hitting the woman with a stunning hit.

Jailer of the Damned [Passive] - Hel begins the battle with three spectral soldiers - spirits that belong in Valhalla - chained up around her throne. So long as one soldier is bound, Hel will restore herself to full health upon reaching 50% or lower as a post action. Hel cannot be defeated so long as there are any bound soldiers.

To Valhalla - To free the soldiers, Players must distract Hel by forcing her to heal herself or by applying a disabling effect (stun, paralysis, freeze). Then, while distracted, they must roll a collective LD of 40 in order to free a soldier. After all soldiers are freed, Hel can no longer heal herself.

It was very easy to say that Itzal, wasn't really that much of a use the last fight they had. That being said, the boss was at least defeated really easily. Thus that wasn't all too much of an issue. Even still, he wanted to find ways to be as useful as he could. When the ship began to toss and turn, Itzal immediately shifted his posture so that he could grab one of the robes and placed his feet against the deck of the ship and the railing to stabilize himself. Once he did he surveyed the area and saw a storm. He just nodded when Zandra called out to everyone to hang on tight. Between his real life parkour skills, his acrobatics mod, evasion enhancements and the survival skill, and the fact that he wore lightweight armor and not heavy set plate armor, this storm didn't really do much against him.

When Zandra charged and struck the woman on the throne, stunning her, Itzal's scout eyes immediately noticed the chained up figures that were around her. Frowning and his eyes narrowed, he rushed to the edge and pushed off, swinging his blade with a flourish over his head before thrusting it down into the leftmost chain, taking out a big chunk of it's durability. He also noticed the LD bonuses flashing on the edge of his vision. He smiled. So then his biggest advantage as a scout was actually of use here? Perfect. Then he would be useful AFTER all.

Smashy smashy, Oscar thought as Zandra smacked the second boss with a stunning Bull Rush. Thus, the party was freed up to try and release the captives that the enemy had chained at her throne. Where Itzal had busied himself with the leftmost chain, Oscar made a beeline straight for the middle. Deft fingers worked at the locks and links quickly, managing to undo over half of the bonds in a few seconds. But, he could only do so much in the time he had and Stuns never lasted very long. He would need to content himself with the fact that he'd done good work in such a short span. With a word of apology to the unthinking, unaware soldier, Oscar ceased his ministrations and rose to his feet. Weapon at the ready, Oscar wheeled around to face the boss. Somehow he didn't think that this next round would go a smoothly as the first.

Awe, an a tad bit of jealousy, came into Lessa's lake-blue eyes as Zandra plowed into the boss like a runaway freight train. How a single Player could hit so hard was absolutely astounding. Even the boss itself appeared off-kilter, and a few seconds later, Lessa recognized it as a solid stun. Insane, she thought to herself, then shifted her attention toward her other companions. Both Itzal and Oscar had shifted to the chained soldiers, and were doing what they could to break the chains.

"Chains," Lessa murmured. "Right. Gotta get those." Jogging over, she wasted a few precious seconds examining the bonds. They were tricky ordeals, and short of hitting them with a Sword Art (something she knew she couldn't do without killing the soldiers), breaking them would be difficult. "These are no joke," she commented to the others while they worked diligently to free the struggling NPCs. "I wonder where a boss would even pick up heavy-duty chains like this. I don't figure Aincrad has any Home Depots."

A light reflection on his eyes, a sudden discharge in red begins to mix with the white fog of the chamber. A blade torn from its sheath as it twists to that same hue, a click of heels and a crimson tear against a line held taught. "Sorry I am late." he quips toward the group, a flair of fighting spirit in a shower of sparks. The chain breaks, the soldier collapses off to the side before it ceases to exist. An intense stare into Hel's familiar visage, correcting his blade at an angle and watching. Waiting for that bolt of energy as a counter attack from her. He'd done this before, and she'd have no tricks to produce that he'd yet not seen. Diving headfirst into this party on request, he'd play the part and see it through.

A whisk of purple as she began to rise, violet on the air in scatters and pops before she snaps her fingers and sees a fork of lightning toward them. A twist of his steel and a flutter of a robe, a raid ready blade and a determination to match. A smile on her face fades as he corrects with a stone cold emotionless brow. He was not entertained.

Hel was as disturbing as she appeared hypnotic. A gargantuan woman rested over a throne, with three soldiers shackled beside her. They posed as an obstacle, guarding the woman in front of them. She recalled her last run of this dungeon. Once Hel's health reached a certain threshold, she almost leeched the life force from those soldiers surrounding her. They served as an endless generator of fuel to the creature. The big, bad guy would come last. The woman fixed her attention to the shackles on the soldiers. That would be their only way to her. She gripped her blade and targeted the soldier on the far right. The others were swift to release the soldiers. With only one remaining, it wouldn't be long till they faced Hel. Haine reserved her energy. A basic attack was all she needed to get through those chains. She sprinted up to the throne, and with a step to the side, the blade clashed against the chains. A dent in the middle and the chains seemed worn out. It could only take a hit or two more.

The stun faded and the party's brief intermission was over. Not wanting to give the boss and room to get an attack in, Oscar dashed from his soldier and brought Tessleth's Fury down on Hel's neck. She let out a loud shriek and recoiled, in so doing knocking Oscar away and pulling his weapon free from her digital flesh. A jagged red gash was left in his weapon's wake, a lingering remnant of the damage that he had done. Oscar tumbled backward, sliding across the stone floor and eventually coming to a stop as his momentum petered out. "Damn," he began, rising from the dirt and rolling the tingling from the pain dampeners ouf of his shoulder. "Old girl's stronger than he looks. Take care when you go in guys. Can't get that last soldier free until we can get her distracted again." Looking at things, Oscar doubted the boss would survive the three rounds it would take to be able to stun her again. There had to be another mechanic in play. Those soldiers were just too conspicuous. Regardless, there was nothing they could do other than lay into her and hope for the best right now.

Within a short amount of time the group had managed to free two of the three soldiers that the boss seemed to be draining life force from. So that's how it was. They couldn't kill her until they were all freed and out of her reach. He watched as the stun effect of Zandra's bull rush faded away. She didn't seem to have much mitigation though, so perhaps if they could drop her health to a low enough point, they could effectively immobilize her again. It was after all very possible that it took her a period of time to heal, rather than as a passive action. with that in mind, Itza rushed forward. He didn't have the vanish mod, but he could do his best to stalk in the shadows. The worst thing was his attack nearly worked, but not because of his skills. If he had to make a guess, Hel didn't see him as much of a threat to her. And she'd be right for the most part, but honestly he just refused to be dead weight. Which he ended up being when she dodged his blade, albeit barely, resulting in a failed attempt at triggering his sword art.

Lessa glanced over her shoulder just in time to watch the boss rip Oscar's sword from her neck, and send the man flying across the room. Though he slowed to a stop, seemingly unharmed, the woman winced. "You okay?" she called out to him, momentarily distracted by show unfolding behind her.

When Itzal peeled off as well, she considered doing the same. In fact, she turned away from the chains, but the NPC's cry grabbed her attention again. Panic, and raw desperation, weaved through his breathy tone as he called out. "Please," he begged, "please don't leave me behind. Don't leave me alone here."

"We won't," Lessa assured the man, even as she took a step away from him. "I won't. I'll be right back. I just need to-"

"Please!" came his strangled plea. "You freed them, now free me. You can't leave me here. You can't!"

Pain and conflict stormed across her face as she turned back to him, and missed her opportunity to strike.

This was only the beginning of it. The gargantuan creature was reminiscent of a reptile, with greyed, scaled skin and pupils like slits. It felt as if eye contact would turn her into stone, like those mythological stories. Hel's peaceful rest on the throne was disrupted by a sword wedged close to her jugular. She moved, and with that, the ground shook. She ripped out the sword with relative ease, with as much ease as picking a hair would. Haine rolled her shoulders. This would be... a hassle. It seemed like the creature was almost impervious to their attacks. Maybe there was something else to be done first.

The woman readied her glaive, drawing her sight to shackled figures behind the throne. The shackles glowed a crimson color, leaving the figures in a perpetual state of weakness. Some didn't have the energy to thrash around, while some others fought on their last straws. Interesting. It seemed as if those shackles sucked the life out of them. For now, Haine drew her attention to the boss. Unless other orders presented themselves, she focused on the big guy. She charged her glaive and moved in to attack.

Righting himself against the tide that Hel attempts to produce. An amythest light bleeds from the tips of her fingers. That same fire reflects against the lenses on the swordsmans face, who places a soft word upon the faltering man trapped within binds. "Hold fast, and wait in turn. You'll be freed before not too long." He murmurs with a few steps past toward the charging energies of the boss. A spray of red lighting from a withdrawn blade from Hel's neck and her attentions shifting ever so softly to the rest of the party. A pump of crimson slides along her very alter, and with it comes a blindness that washes her eyes in white. The pupils begin to fade from those slits in her soul. Blind to all but the man in red, and with a sudden spark that energy is cast. It finds purchase only on a rapidly removed bit of steel, and composed behind the whirling edge was Raidou fixing a pair of lenses.

This really was a hassle wasn't it? No one seemed to have paralysis on hand, and they had to wait a full three rotation rounds for them to be able to stun the boss a second time. That meant that they needed to deal enough damage to this boss in order to get a chance to free the prisoners yet again. Even still, the boss didn't seem to be very strong damage wise. If anything, this was just another boss that took a while to take down. Not much of a danger, just annoying really. With that in mind, he proceeded to deal his pitiful damage to Hel in an attempt to help them out. However, once he struck her, he noticed a change in her behavior and blinked. Wait a minute... Had his attack actually done some good? It turns out that it did. She was focusing on healing herself now, leaving the prisoners open for the rescue. With that, the fight might actually end soon he thought.

Trembling hands reached for her, finding purchases on her wrists, where they squeezed like twin vices. "I can't stay here," the NPC stammered. He vibrated with terror, humming like an exposed wire, and likely as dangerous. Were he not chained, she figured he would be thrashing for his life.

"I know," she murmured. Her voice softened, adopting a gentle, motherly tone. "And we're going to get you out, I promise. We won't leave you."

"Please-"

"We WON'T." Even as her own fingers shook, fumbling hopelessly with the chain links, she forced steel resolve into her words. "We won't leave you. We're going to free you, just like your friends. Just wait. Please, trust us." There was no possible way that she could free the soldier now, what with Hel hovering over her. But she couldn't bring herself to abandon the man either. So instead, Lessa preserved her energy, and prayed her companions would deal the damage she could not.

One more soldier left. Some focused on whatever was left of those chains while others drew their attention to Hel. Each shackle broken was one less reserve for Hel to pull from. Her fury heightened with each of her pawns claimed. Where were her soldiers now? The blue haired woman split her attention between the last chain and Hel herself. There were plenty back there to work on it. For now, she had to stay vigilant and conserve her energy for an all out attack. Hel, in a fit of rage, moved for the chains. That wasn't good. They were to draw her attention away from it. "Over here, you piece of shit!" the woman hollered out, charging her blade for a swift attack. She moved in close quarters and jabbed at the creature's claws. Half a nail chipped off. It wasn't anything efficient, but it was enough to prolong her reserves. Hel's next action, from a fear for her life, was to drain more of the poor soldier's life force.

(OOC correction, base damage from Z, Hatred on Itzal's attack), Focused Howl CD [1/2]

The chambers lighting seems to dwindle, as if what little was there was being drained by the boss. A pump of purple energy from her finger tips as she clasps the one remaining chain. A hallow exhale from her as if catching her breath sees the attached soldier wince in pain and fall to his knees. Raidou adjusts his lenses, rips his blade towards his chest. "It's now or never." he quips in a soft tone to the group as that violet pulse brings about a shade akin to a cloud blocking the sun. The glow reflects off those shields of glass that protect his eyes, as that slight crimson light bleeds from his weapon showing stamina being pumped into it. One chained remained, and once it fell Hel would soon after. The group just needed to finish the job, and Raidou would keep her attention and his own defenses up should they be needed.

Raidou activates Vengeful Riposte!, Parry CD [-/2], Vengeful Riposte CD [-/3]

Hel uses Jailer of the Damned!, Heals to full HP & Becomes [Distracted!]
