[PP| FL 1] A ripple in time - pt 2

Recommended Posts

A month had passed since the initial announcement of the game being misled to becoming a horror movie brought to life. He had met a few adventurers that seemed interesting. A particular one named Miku had stuck beside him. She had been helpful a handful of times and was able to keep up with him. But it was not the same. Not even close when she was around. Haine made it feel like the game was just a game to him and the stress melted away. Perhaps it was because she was new? Or maybe she needed some of his guidance. Whatever the case may be, she was with him most of the time.

Today’s destination was outside floor 1. The wargs were just their starter type til they were able to master the fluid of battle. Between Ruri, Haine, and him, the monsters were cake walk until they ran into the greater wargs. They were slightly bigger in size and a bit more on the heavy hitter.

He was standing there gazing upon the dynamic sisters. They hadn’t agreed to proceed with fighting these monsters, so a consensus was needed among the group to either go or not. “I don’t think we are suitable to fight something that we know nothing of yet. I think taking on one would be dangerous as I think they travel in packs. It’s not like I’m scared of them but more cautious.” He glanced at Ruri and Haine. He didn’t know what they thought of the matter and would at least listen to his reasoning before taking a chance. After all, all three were still greenhorns.

The past month had been, for a lack of words, a wild ride. Paradise turned hell, that ought to have been a headline all over Japan. She wondered if people knew. Maybe they did know, her siblings had yet to shrivel up and die from having their Nerve Gears removed. They were unbothered for an entire month, and a month in this world felt like eternity. She had yet to adjust to the reality of this new world. The concept of death was unnerving. She had yet to witness a death in person, but she heard of horrors within local taverns. She would rather be safe than sorry, within the sanctuaries of floor one. It was a peaceful life, though monotonous, but being close to those she loved made it easier to cope.

That was how she felt until her siblings expressed a desire to achieve, flip the script. She felt obligated to follow suit, to be able to aid and protect them lest that ridiculous... death rumor turned out to be real. She couldn't do it by herself. Fortunately, she had her siblings and Kiluia to help her level. Today's agenda: Warg-in it up on floor one. Battle was new and unfamiliar to the girl. She could barely hold a real sword, though fortunately it felt like second nature here.

The trio stood out on the open plain, at safe distance from a pack of wargs. Haine furrowed her brows, boring holes into the pack of literal... deformed wolves. With everything blatantly realistic, down to the detail of these creatures, it wasn't unnatural to feel freaked. The realization that she couldn't feel physical pain alleviated her nerves.

The woman put on a bright facade, hands planted on her hips. "Good point, Kil. It's either that or the hundredth boar. Don't'cha think we need a change?" She manifested her spear and stabbed it into the soil. "I say we give it a go. If shit hits the fan, crush a crystal and we'll regroup at the town square. Deal-" Haine looked aside to witness the shorter bluenette bounding towards the pack of wolves. "G- For heck's sake Ruri! I guess we're havin' at it after all." The girl chased after the younger.

Before he could react to the situation, the other blue haired wonder already dashed off to the herd. While moving up the chain of command of fighting, he wanted to be sure that they were able to continue with their mechanics of being an all-rounder team. They had been successful in some situations and others they faltered. This seemed like it was going to falter as the herd was a larger pack and they had to pull out one from the group before it had alerted the rest of the monsters.

A grunt was given as he took off running without another thought. The fact that anything could happen would entirely be left up to the gamer gods.  “Be aware of the surroundings! We should talk about traps and luring!” He was trying desperately to shout over the running and stumbling.

The larger wargs came into view and he was anxious. They were a popular monster to target because their drop items were better, and they sold for a higher price. “Look out for others trying to take them out too!” The three of them could intimidate anyone but it was a bluff at this level.

Sometimes the team held their own, structured and all. Sis was out there in the front, throwing the punches, with Kiluia's aoe to back her up. As for Haine? Squad medic who could beat shit up if she needed to. And sometimes? That just went out the window. Like now, when the zealous thirteen year old charged head into a pack of wargs. Haine felt her stomach somersault. All forethought and precaution thrown to the wind as Ruri decided that now was the moment to unleash hell. Oh well. Just a bunch of mangy mutts, big deal. Just think of them as oversized... puppies. She felt her skin crawl as she charged towards the heart of action.

"So we're doin' this, huh?" She chortled and manifested her dull spear. The frenzy evened out into an orderly battle, fortunate enough. They were to remain vigilant with this new challenge, but it appeared their training was fruitful. "Since when could I kick ass this hard?" She punctuated with a jab through a mutt's skull. She brushed the dust off her coat and smirked. Her moment of triumph was cut short by a growl behind her. Amber eyes widened and she exchanged an anxious look with Kiluia. Azure locks whipped as she turned to face a pack of vicious mutts, similar to the rest yet twice the size as before.

"Are you fudge-ing me? Those were the lil' ones?!"

  • 1 month later...

A slink of the rather abysmal basic katana into its scabbard, after lopping off the remaining's head. A burst like confetti and a flash of little fractals "They weren't that tough. Lighten up a bit, Onee-chan." Ruri extrudes with a dismissal. "Let's go after the big ones, maybe they will drop some fat loot or somethin'" Her eyes swap to Kiluia "You don't need to trap them if they're dead dude." Sizing up the large fat things with teeth, she slinks a bit to the side. An intense gaze locked to the newly formed resistance against their little posse. A slide of her feet brings her low, bowing her head and clutching the blades handle.

A single metallic snare *Shhhink* sees a blue solid line phase through the culprit. Man Katana's were OP shit. The first in a group of obtuse, overly gorged wolves explodes into tiny pixels in a shower. The other howls and lunges for her, raking her leg as she attempts to slide off to the side. "Yikes." She eyes her own appendage showing a row of three red lines burned across her shin. A sharp decrease of her HP bar, she'd taken quite the hit. Turns out there were strength in numbers, and diving head first like a lunatic wasn't the best choice.

The trio had run into the larger wargs. It was not as bad as he had thought as there were other players around them attempting to subdue the beasts as well. Good thing they all had green icons over their heads indicating that they had been players who had kept the status of no PK. His eyes glanced over at the other blue haired lass. It was already interesting enough that he knew who Ruri was but here she was just as snarky if not more.

He felt a bit safer for the most part as he watched the spectacle of others dancing around and fighting. Off in the distance, he saw a familiar red-haired samurai. If he were in trouble, he could at least ask for help for the most part. “Guess it isn’t too bad. Luck is on our side today.” He would not attempt to poke the blue bear just yet. Yet. He wanted to at least attempt to make peace if there was peace to be made.

“Go ahead. It shouldn’t be too hard with this many people around.” He spoke to the both of them.
