The jagged peaks and barren ruins of this land near the labrynth of the First Floor faded from Lissandra's mind as the walled settlement of Tolbana came into view. "mm mm.." She nodded firmly, "Tolbana is always worth the trip. What a splendid sight~" As the words meant for noone trailed off, Lissandra let the moment last for a while longer, taking in the gorgeous imagery of the land bit by bit before finally taking the step towards the gate which opened promptly.

Lissandra made her may confidently accross the city's main thoroughfair, a popular tune from the outside world was playing back in her mind. Usually, she tried to be more restrained in her enjoyment of this world, but today was a special today. Today was picnic day. Picnic day was a sort of holidy Lissandra had made for herself, unlike holidays from the outside world, Picnic day was not restrained to a simple annual schedule and was instead celebrated whenever she felt a picnic was in order. As one is to do from time to time.

It was not long until she had arrived at the part of the city dedicated to the purchasing of goods, and it was not long after that the girl hit a rather unfortunate conundrum, deciding exactly what to eat was beyond her today.

So Lissandra wandered from stall to stall, stuck in a fuque of uncertainty. After a while she came to a stop entirely. She rubbed her chin. She tapped her foot. She pursed her lips.

This was most likely the greatest bout of indecision she had had since the dreaded 'Swimming or Hiking' incident of her second year in Aincrad..

Today, Chase was on a quest. A quest to go around every floor and look for vanity potions... and maybe some food cooked by the NPCs while he was at it. As of now, he'd finished with the Town of Beginnings at a grand total of literally nothing, moving onwards to Tolbana to make sure that he'd gotten a look through every settlement. With every quest finished and little work to be done, nothing better than fill his inventory with more junk.

Chase DBP Default.pngDespite all the shops that filled Tolbana with buildings and the like, nothing really stuck out to him as a 'must have' like the rest of his potions. Vanity effects could go a long way if you really just wanted to have fun, after all. So the result was, the bluehead just moved towards a stall with food where there was nothing but bread. Dry, cheap bread. Honestly the least moving food he could go for, but then again that's how he started, spending all his money for lunch in the form of dry and stale, tasteless food. And then there was the greenhead wandering around. She also seemed to be looking for foods, and quite frantically too, so that meant she probably knew better. She skipped from stall to stall, making it hard for Chase to catch her standing damn still for one second, but as soon as he did he let out a less than subtle cough. "... You're looking for food too, right? Anything you recommend?"

A heavy motive of fatigue still racked muscles, joints still outcried with a day's work with lead. The anvil had put him through quite the routine, but everything was up to par and cleared from his plans. A moments break, his familiar could consume metals but he could hardly do the same. The city was quite lively in its content, an ode to the time of day. A chattering of a crowd, forming an anthem of white noise that casts the convincing argument of a well stocked village. Pale white bricks and dust beneath a light blue cloudless sky.

To the rather frequented stall with the older gentleman offering a small sum of col across to yield a fair share of loaves of bread in a bag. Out of the corner of his eye, a woman racked with confusion. Could she be lost? "Do you need directions?" The voice came across rough with the question, an accent thick of german descent. A look into her more straight gives back lime green locks on a lanky frame. Her gear seemed standard, perhaps a player that hadn't left the walls in some time. Unsure of the context given she should be rather familiar with the place by now if she was a town hugger, Griswold was a man to offer despite the issue.

A shuffle of the bag in his arms, an adjustment and a scratch at the back of his head. It dawned on him, that it was customary in japanese customs to like bow first. Folding a bit awkwardly and only slightly like a nod, he tries to follow the still foreign customs "Oh uh, I'm Griswold."

First down then up, two very different voices called out from behind  Lissandra and startled her out of deep thought. "Oh my apologies, how rude I have been to take up the road as such," The young woman spun and curstied to the two strangers. "I am Lissandra, just a level one layabout wasting her days away on the first floor." She first looked down to the blue haired player, "Well that is just the thing you see, today I am celebrating Picnic Day, but I have not a clue as to what I should take with me.. but before I lose my train of thought, If you could do me the pleasure of introducing yourself, I would be happy to meet you!" She gave him a soft smile and wait for his answer, thinking on each word carefully and ensuring he felt listened to before turning to the larger fellow.

"And as you must have overheard by now, I am in need of ideas for the celebration of Picnic day. Since I have you all here.. hmm." She took a moment to think, "Well first of all, please let me know your name at the very least." In the same way, she nodded and listened intently as the man responded, making sure that he felt heard before speaking again. "Well, if your offer is still on the table I would love some help, and if you two are willing to join me for the celebrations; I would welcome the company." Lissandra smiled softly and waited attentively for their replies. If they accepted this would be the first ever Picnic Day she celebrated with guests and that in and of it self was rather exciting.

'Take up the road'? 'Picnic day'??? That caught Chase off guard, and if anything, the way that she spoke felt similar to his own. As in one spoke too little to the point where he was too abrupt, the other kept running her mouth and sounding like she was trying to imitate human speech. They both sucked at talking, that was already off to a good start. "Er... S-Sure, Picnic day.", he responded awkwardly before shaking his head and stretching a hand out.

Chase DBP Silent Awkward.png"Chase... r... But just Chase is fine. I also suck at holding conversations.", he introduced himself, running his eyes up and down her figure now that they were up close. "So that's how Ariel knew I was a newbie, the armor is a dead giveaway...", he thought in the back of his mind before looking over to the other side of the woman, seeing the blacksmith that had taken care of most of his items earlier up to now. "Oh, bear guy.", he murmured and even though he wore Firm Anima's badge, he felt the least likely to fit in there. He was fine with Griswold if anything. "What are you doing here?", he asked him and blinked curiously, looking at his bags and then back at his gruff face. An odd run-in, but at least it wasn't two strangers he'd run into and probably interrupted.

"Picnic day?" Griswold turned his head slightly at the notion, was this some strange Japanese holiday he wasn't aware of. There had been a few, the Tanabata festival being one of them so it wasn't really a surprise to him in the slightest. Looking to Chase as they started holding an exchange of words, it would appear that between the two of them there was a strange mesh of oddity he couldn't help but see. It was pretty awkward. The language, both bodily and verbally was disjointed.

"Just pickin' up some bread. It's cheap here." His attentions shift to Chase with a pull of one out of the bag. "I'm not much of a foodie, just eat what's filling and is edible somewhat." He gestured one of the baked goods to the girl if she wanted a bit as a form of show and tell. "Needed a break from the anvil, and a shopping trip was a good way to get the lead out." A glance back to the girl with the offer of an invitation, Griswold's head looks to Chase with a shrug. "As long as there isn't anything weird on the menu, I got some time to kill." The two rather flashy looking players of the three were getting a few prying eyes, it wasn't often that high level players in their obvious custom equipment were seen in floor 1's starting towns and villages. The NPC's recognized the smith sure, but usually he was in an out before the ruckus.

"Maybe staring at the grasslands was a good idea at first but man this got boring after 3 hours" Plini's thoughts revolved around worrying about Orca, stocking up in his shop, and wanting to taste that slice of cake the girl in the tavern made. For a taste test it was enough to convince him to looks for her but that is easier said than done, especially with Plini gazing at the boar pups and their mums grazing on the field before him. His attire was still the same, a cream-colored jacket that looked like it had splashes of chemicals in it, a black shirt, and pants that matches the color of the coat. his trusty sling bag beside him that Swiper will never get a chance to swipe.

"Oh well, I guess stretching my legs might just be a good idea, but still-" he gazed at the fields again "be careful out there Orca" he thought. The settlement was busy enough for him to know everything is quite stable in this area. Some may have overpriced goods but the cheap ones always stand out. "Let's see, I should try to find some rope or scissors, makes things easier for me" he rummaged at his sling bag for anything he listed but then he was unaware of his surrounding that he bumped into someone.

"As long as there isn't anything weird on the menu, I got some time to kill."

Plini was almost pushed back with how muscular the guy is, hell he can even knock Plini out with a soft swing of his arms for sure. "Sorry Magni, didn't mean to bump... into-" he looked at the two more players in the group , a girl with green hair and a boy with blue hair "gatorade?" he thought "is there a witness protection program going on here?" he asked them.

These two seemed very kind, and more than a little confused by Lissandra's overly formal way of communicating, she decided to tone herself down a bit for their sakes, as that was the polite thing to do. "Well, I am sorry for getting ahead of myself. I should explain," She shot a beaming grin at the two of them, but as she opened her mouth to speak yet another stranger stumbled into the conversation. Lissandra stopped herself and smiled at the new person, "Well hello! The three of us were just discussing a possible social outing. You see," she took the opportunity to explain her little 'personal holiday' to all of them at once. "Without getting into my life story, I have a little tradition I keep up to pass the time on the lower floors, well a number of them.." Lissandra trailed off and took a mental note to invite these people to beach day next week if this went well, "but regardless, this little 'holiday' as I call it is Picnic Day. It is mostly self explanatory, I come here to Tolbana and spend the day at my favorite little spot in this region enjoying a nice picnic. It is nothing too extravagant, and until possibly today?" Lissandra's tone almost indicated that she was re-inviting all three of them with this statement; "I have celebrated on my lonesome. I was mostly just trying to decide what to bring with me when we all bumped into each other. I truly do think it would be lovely if we all celebrated together!" She beamed once more, Lissandra spoke with a calm grace, under-toned with genuine happiness that seemed to fill her entire soul. It was true that being trapped in SAO was the best thing that ever happened to her from her point of view and while many had found this strange, in a few cases even insulting, in the past; Lissandra couldn't help it. Video games had already been her life before all this, so SAO was a dream come true to her. Above and beyond any of this of course, Lissandra was truly elated at the possibility of finally making some friends in this beautiful world. The countless possibilities of their future adventures together swirled in her mind as she heard each of their replies to her. Like always, she would take the time to listen completely to each of them and anything they had to say. It was just too exciting to be meeting new people like this!

The worst thing about the First floor of Aincrad were all the people who loitered there. Since most of the people had graduated to scaling the tower to some degree, the leftover dregs spent their time wasting away anywhere between the Town of Beginnings and Tolbana, and while he had some contempt for that kind of person, Corvo also thoroughly enjoyed having a laugh at their expense.

Cheap laughs were the only easy thing to get in Aincrad, after all. He was still low level himself, a product of enmity for his surroundings and existential emptiness that combined to drag him into a depression that lasted several long years. As a result, now he hated himself as much as he hated all the other people who had pissed that time away.

The natural recourse was, naturally, to lash out. To go out and look for the people who were lolligagging around and promptly rain on their parade was his vengeful respite. Today, he found it in Tolbana, surrounded by a Cadre of Players he had never met. Some of them didn't look new. In fact, some of them looked like they were strong, and suspiciously like they had no real business here at all.

He sneered as he looked among them for any of them who seemed like they did belong. The firebrand could smell weakness. He licked his chops as he slid into the group like he'd belonged from the start and listened for a moment, gauging the conversation.

Was there anything here worth taking the piss out of?

The conversation kept rolling with everyone, but it was growing to be a cluttered mess quickly. That wasn't the real problem- the actual thing he was worried about was that they were way too in the middle of everything. "... Let's move. We're still in the streets. Take it somewhere more open.", he proposed to the group and gestured them towards what seemed like a plaza further in Tolbana, so they could stay near the stalls to buy whatever they wanted, but not where people would have trouble walking by them whatsoever.

Chase DBP Silent Unsure.png"... There is so many people here, I swear... Just relax... And keep your trap shut with the new guy.", he tried to calm himself in the back of his mind before making his way to the plaza, expecting the rest of the school of fish to get here anytime now. They were all bunched up like salmons after all, right? With a quick glance about the town, it was easy to tell apart which of them were players and which weren't. Putting aside the indicators that Chase wasn't fully used to still, their hair colors were all over the place- at least Lissandra's and his own. So this was the 'protagonist' effect, huh? Gris could probably blend in as some form of local blacksmith, but Plini teetered towards the opposite end of what most NPCs in Tolbana looked like. And so, they all stood, sticking out like a sore thumb after all. "So... Food, right? Any proposals? Bear man has bread. I've nothing but I wanted to buy... stuff. S-So."
