Any Floor
<<Nature’s Treasures: Little Eden>>
Party Limit: 4 | 20+ Posts
Repeatable

0rJpxw7065MOI-p9vvyB-zHbdQJi3MWyVAD7BvFh

Quest Rewards:

  • Any materials and loot that you find/gather.

Requirements:

  • Speak with Nemo about a special dungeon near the edge of the floor.
  • Roleplay travelling to Little Eden (minimum of four posts) with Nemo.
  • Optional: Defeat rare monsters for loot.
  • Optional: Go fishing in the river for treasure.
  • Optional: Search for chests.
  • Optional: Search for materials throughout the garden.
  • Defeat  <<Nemo, Wind of Gaia>> (only available for the first time clearing this quest).

Summary:

A rumor has begun to spread far and wide across Aincrad. Players and NPCs alike speak of a special dungeon that offers great wealth and riches for those that can defeat its guardian. Players speak of a lonely NPC that cares for the garden held within its depths, and guides anyone who requests to enter it. However, NPCs warn of a powerful monster that lurks within, attacking players who dare to “steal” from the garden, leaving them gravely injured, or simply killing them outright. You search out the NPC, seeking to enter the garden, and gather materials and loot. Eventually, you come across the NPC introducing himself as Nemo. He guides you to Little Eden, showing the way to the garden within the depths of the dungeon.

As you begin to gather materials, loot chests, fish in the river, and defeat monsters, you notice that Nemo seems to be growing more and more agitated with your  actions. When you make ready to leave, Nemo forcibly stops you, demanding that you return what you have taken. Your eyes focus on his name and health bar, and, much to your horror, you see that somehow his health pool has grown significantly larger, and his name has changed. It seems that the boss was really Nemo in disguise.

After defeating Nemo, he concedes to your strength, and gifts you a special crystal that activates a warp panel at the center of the garden, allowing you to leave the Garden.

Outline:

After accepting the quest, you travel alongside Nemo to Little Eden, and make your way into the depths of Little Eden, reaching the garden at its very core. You have the option of fighting rare mobs, each of them offering their own challenges and granting increased rewards upon their defeat. <<Gilded hands>>, which are rare mobs not spawned by usual means, grant a bonus 1000*Tier col and 3*Tier Materials upon their defeat.

Upon trying to leave the dungeon, you will be unable to find the way that you came in, and will have your way blocked by Nemo, who transforms into the dungeon boss.

The following bonuses are applied when performing the following actions in Little Eden:

  • Searching | LD rolls of 11-14 give 1 material.  LD rolls of 15+ give 2 materials. The Gatherer Skill is added to this roll as well. All CD thresholds for the Gatherer Skill are reduced by 1.
  • Fishing | A natural CD roll of 1-3 fishes up a <<Gilded Hand>> mob. All CD thresholds for the Fishing Skill are reduced by 1.
  • Treasure Chests | A natural LD of 1-3 results in two <<Gilded Hand>> mobs.
  • Looting Mobs | Mobs that satisfy the loot minimum always drop (HP * 4) col and 1 Material as default drops, before other upgrades and aspects of the loot table are taken into account.

Gets upset with the player if they kill mobs while he is nearby, expressing pain at their actions towards the creatures of the garden.

"Oh, you're done already..?" Nemo called out, tilting his head at the players. "It feels like you haven't even been here long at all! Do you really have to leave so soon...?" As the player nods, he lets out a dejected sigh. "Figures... not much I can really do about it, I guess." Nemo sighs, his gaze falling to the floor.

"Make sure you visit again, okay? I want to be able to talk to you again!" Nemo moves to the center of the field once more, and taps the ground with his foot, revealing a beautifully made warp panel, formed from a blue-green material that glittered in the light. "Stay safe, out there, and visit again soon! You know where to find me!" Nemo begins waving goodbye to the players, before moving off deeper into the garden.

Outside the stony walls of the complex that made up Shield's home and shop, the roaring falls filled the air, both with sound and spray. It created an ever-present haze that hid shadows of loomong stones and precariously perched trees and their sprawling limbs that hung over cliffs, creating shadowy giants and monsters that hung just out of sight in the fog. Inside of the shop, the air was clear and warm, and for the most part, silent. The only noises were those of the shopkeeper tinkering around with a peculiar weapon. Balanced on Hermes' Scales, a strange sword, simply named Orgoth's Legacy, weighed down the arm on which it sat.

"Well, you're definitely unique," Shield remarked to himself, and tapped the magnifying glass icon in the item's menu. Within moments, the results came back. "Yup. This is certainly a DoT user's dream. Looks like this might fetch a decent return on the market." Without wasting a beat, he began penning an ad for the notice boards.

FT: Boss Drop Unique Sword - 3 DoTs | LF: Unique Shield/Armor with Auras

Item Specs:
Type [One-Handed Straight Sword]
Tier [4]
Enhancements [Burn/Blight/Bleed]

If interested, meet on first floor at the following coordinates. I'll be fishing there all day today. NPC named Nemo will lead the way.

The post made, he closed his menus with a flourish, stowed his item, and took out a crystal, crushing it in his hand. "Town of Beginnings!"

-

Nemo was easy enough to find. He was plain, but pleasant, and with a nod, Shield accepted the quest offered to him and followed where he led. It was odd. The pockets of unique loot and safe fishing had dried up as of the completion of the most recent boss battle. From the little correspondence he had done with Hikoru, this seemed to be the quest that took the place of those special zones. However, the more Shield heard Nemo speak, the more apprehensive he became.

"A boss?" Shield parroted back, confirming what the NPC had told him.

"That's right. Likes to defend its treasures for anyone who would attempt to steal them."

This was a little troubling, as Shield had not counted on combat being part of his trade arrangement. As they walked, he pulled up his post and tapped the 'Edit' option.

[Edit: Come geared for combat. NPC has mentioned a potential boss. Risks seem minimal, but come prepared]

By the time he had completed his edit, he looked up and found that they had been transported to a garden. It was quite a sight, alive with foliage and flora, the light that poured into the garden seemed to leave everything faintly haloed. Whoever had designed this scene did so with a real sense of artistry. He thanked Nemo and made his way over to a nearby pond that was overhung by a flowering willow tree. While the Fishing skill had been removed from the game, it seemed that fishing in general had not.

"Here goes nothing."

Fishing - ID# 188074 results: Craft: 12 + Loot: 17 - Chest Found!

Casting out his line, he waited for the weight to pull his hook all the way to the bottom. It was lost to sight under the glassy surface, but once the reel had finished feeding out, he began to slowly retrieve his line. The reel clicked lazily for a few moments, the line feeding smoothly back onto its spool, but with an abrupt tug, the line caught, pulling back with the same force Shield applied.

It couldn't be... first cast?

Pulling hard, he felt the telltale drag of a chest scraping along the pond's bottom. With a wide grin, he proceeded to fight the resistance of water and muck, pulling and reeling until a convex lid broke the surface of the water.

"This new quest may be even better than my old spot!"

It did not take much time at all for the black rogue to see the post his friend made on the board. It took him even less time to get moving towards the meetup point. What surprised Itzal was the coordinates directed him to where the nature's treasure quest used to be. According to what he heard from the brokers, the quest had been reformed into a dungeon so to speak, but that it's monsters weren't a necessity to fight at all. He had yet to see it yet, as he had been far too busy trying to grind back some of his levels and reobtain some of the skills that he'd lost... Or rather, replace his old ones with energist. He needed the additional energy with all the changes that were being implemented, namely the reduction in maximum energy due to level cuts.

He soon arrived at the location the coordinates lead to and after checking around the vicinity for unwanted players who might prey on them, he approached Nemo who then began leading him inward towards the dungeon. Once he lead him inside, he closed the gate and walked back to his own personal garden. Itzal didn't move at first, using the reveal and detect mods of his search skill to scan the area for individuals. There wasn't anyone here save for one individual, and from the way they were postured, it looked like they were sitting beside a large pond for fishing. Walking towards him, he moved through the flora filled gardens without making a sound. Once he was within earshot he had confirmed it was Shield. "Greetings Shield." He said simply, not approaching any further. He wasn't here as Itzal, but as Are. Still garbed in the black cloth armor with black leather chestpiece and pauldrons, black cowl and shadowy mist covering his face. Itzal moved his hand nimbly and opened his inventory, pulled out the heavy armor and closed the menu in the span of two seconds before planting it on the ground in front of him, holding it steady with his hand. "I believe this is better suited in the hands of someone who can not only appreciate it, but use it. It's nothing but decoration in mine."

Opening Chest - ID# 188150 results: Loot: 5+9=14

  • [12-15]    100 Col, 5 Crafting Materials, 1 Rare T4 Weapon, 2 Rare T4 Consumables

Shield did not straighten up from his task right away. He had been making a good deal of noise dragging in his newly found chest, so it was not surprising that someone had arrived without his immediate notice. He held out his hand, and from his sleeve, a small, colorful head emerged. Two large, slitted pupils examined the lock, and a forked serpentine tongue flicked into the keyhole. The muscular body of Shield's familiar, Lilith, squeezed his forearm, and he interpreted her pressure that this was a fairly complex lock.

"I will be with you in a moment," Shield said to the newcomer, rummaging at his hip for a large ring of golden keys. Flicking through them, he settled on one and held it out to the lock. It melted into the air, dissolving into a small cascade of glittering dust. With a tinkling of precious metal and a loud click, the lock opened, as did the lid. A readout appeared detailing the chest's contents and with a satisfied nod, Shield collected its contents with the tap of a finger before straightening up.

Turning around, he recognized the player. He - or a player similarly shrouded - had been in Shield's shop on a previous occasion, as well as in the last boss fight. Although he felt the urge to scowl slightly, he was more polite than that, and his features remained impassive. "You have me at a disadvantage. You clearly have knowledge of me, or at least my name and the location of my shop, but I have yet to be introduced properly." There was a shield on the ground between them, but he wished to know more about the person who both was and was not a stranger. There was the more pressing mystery.

Remaining unmoving and still while Shield finished working on the chest he was attempting to pick with the help of his familiar, Itzal kept scanning the area with his eyes. There were several monsters roaming through this dungeon, however they were passive. One even watched them as it walked passed, but had no hostility in it's eyes. That meant they had to engage combat with it before it was willing to fight. Aldion glided down from the branches of the trees as Shield stood up and turned around, landing on Itzal's shoulder. "Caw!" Itzal stroked his familiar's head a few times to calm him down. When Shield pointed out that Itzal knew much about him, but that he didn't share that advantage, he couldn't help but give a soft chuckle. "Apologies. It's part of my "job" to know who's a potential enemy, and who is not. And admittedly no one has asked me about myself up till this point. You can call me Are. It is a pleasure to formally meet you Shield." He said as he placed his empty fist on his chest and gave a slight bow to the tank. "May I ask, if you're subtle aggression is towards my appearance, or my actions?"

Fishing - ID# 188215 results: Craft: 8 + Loot: 18 - Chest found!

Shield considered the introduction for a moment before turning back to the pond, casting his line back out into the water as the durability of the last chest gave out. The box shattered into polygons, and Shield mulled over his words. "If aggression is the word we're using to describe it," he began, slowly winding his line back in as he spoke. "It would be towards the action of crafting such an appearance. Distrust I think is a more apt word, though."

In the water, there came another snag, much like the first. The new quest, though much more complicated at face value than the little profitable zones that Shield had made a point to fish into oblivion, was proving to have a much higher potential for profit than its counterparts. He began the process once again of landing his "catch," adding  between heaves, "I appreciate privacy as much as the next player, but if someone is to trust me enough to do business with me or, perhaps more vitally, to trust me to not stab them in the back during a boss battle," he leveled a brief gaze into the hazy obfuscation that hung over where Are's face would be. "Well, in that case, I should at least give others a sense for who I am and what I'm about."

He listened to the shrewd merchant as he explained the emotions that lay behind his eyes not as aggression, but distrust. Was that all? That was a lot less of an issue than outright aggression. And he had indeed seen it in some of the other frontliners, especially after he spoke up against Hidden and the other woman in the meeting. Nonetheless, that was in the past and he had spoken to Baldur about it, who seemed incredibly upset with him regarding the issue. With that resolved, he felt everything was ready to move forward. Of course Shield rose a good point, but it was due to his lack of understanding of Itzal's position. And that was honestly part of it. "I can understand where you come from. However my identity is hidden not out of lack of trust with any of you. I hide it because the men I track down, fight, and put in chains are many and powerful. I've made a great many enemies, and I cannot allow them to harm those I care about. Therefore I refuse to let any of my personal information leak that could betray that identity." After that the rogue moved to sit down, Aldion steadily balancing himself on the player's shoulder as he moved to a cross-legged position. "I do however agree with you. Actions speak louder than words, but if you have questions I shall answer to the best of my ability."

Opening Chest - ID# 188277 results: Loot: 14+9=23 [Applying Multipurpose] 23+1=24

[24+] 250 Col, 12 Crafting Materials, Perfect Weapon (1), Perfect Armor/Shield (1), Perfect Consumables (2)

Shield listened, noting the role as a vigilante of sorts, but something still didn't sit right with him. "So, Are, let's use the analogy of superheroes - Batman and Superman, if it's all the same." With one final heave, he pulled his next quarry up onto the shore and knelt beside it, allowing Lilith to inspect the lock. "The purpose of Batman's cloak and cowl is to provide insulation from vendettas while Bruce Wayne is living his life. If he wore the disguise all the time, there would be no separation between the vendettas and his work and personal life. Now Joker is just following Batman to work and social functions and harassing him there."

With the squeeze on his wrist, he knew enough to guess that this lock was heavy but simple. He took a particularly fat key from the ring at his waist and held it out towards the keyhole. Another jingle and a click, and he was in. The display list was much longer this time and had a much more valuable selection of items. "Much better,"  he thought aloud and gathered the contents, making a mental note of his running tally.

"The question is, do you wear the costume while playing the hero, or while going about your day. You can be Batman and wear the costume while you fight crime, or you can be Superman and be yourself during the crime fighting and assume an alternate identity when of duty, so to speak." He straightened up and gathered his fishing pole. "However, if you're wearing the costume all the time, that seems like you're not really protecting anyone anymore. People just make note of whoever you ally yourself with while they see you out and about, and those become the new targets."

"That,"  he added, bringing his point back around to where he started, "is why your actions read as questionable. You're hiding your identity while doing nothing that would make you enemies, so either you're Superman and wear your real face while you hunt, which seems improbable, or you just don't want people to know who you are."

Hearing this much about batman and superman was interesting, especially since Itzal hadn't actually read any of those books. He'd heard of them from other players, and promised himself he'd read them when he returned to the real world, but he had never, ever actually read them. He didn't know who this joker was, he didn't know that superman did everything without a costume or mask, and he wasn't informed on anything of batman except that Are reminded people of him to some degree. However what he was able to comprehend, was the concept that Shield was trying to use with this metaphor. That it didn't matter if you had an alias if you were that alias all the time. On that area, the two of them were in agreement. "I only don my alias when I am in a floor raid or event, and when I'm hunting down player killers to send to the prison. In every other scenario I remove my garment and live life as normally and peacefully as I can." He had hoped Shield would believe this statement as it was the truth. Itzal was very overprotective of his identity, and made sure to keep players from spotting him changing gear, or acting like his alias without his armor. Additionally, he couldn't count the amount of dates and days by the lake he'd spent relaxing and hanging out with Zandra as Itzal, and not as Are. "I do not make my work of putting killers, rapists and kidnappers my life. It's nothing more than a self-invented job of mine. I can't stand by and allow the lower level players to suffer the way they do. Especially when I can use this job and skill to locate the base of operations of the much larger, more dangerous guilds such as laughing coffin. In that regard you do not need to be concerned." After this there was a moment's pause before he added something more. "As your last comment suggests however, there are one or two additional reasons I created this alias in the first place, but player's protection took priority back then as much as it does now."

The last chest expired, breaking into shards of light and melting away now that there was no longer treasure inside of it to justify its existence. With that, Shield was already casting his line out once again. He was not entirely sure how much of Are's response he could believe. By the nature of being a man in a mask, he was in the habit of concealing things. It was impossible to judge just how deep or shallow that tendency ran from two minutes of conversation. However, in the mean time, the player seemed pleasant enough.

Once his bobber was bobbing contentedly in the water and had settled into the calm motions of the gentle waters of the pond, Shield stepped over to the shield that had been offered to him. He tapped the face of it to summon the item's menu and inspected its properties. "A slot each of every elemental aura and thorn. This is certainly as rare as players spoke of the boss drop being." He swiped through his own menu, summoning out Orgoth's Legacy. The sword materialized in the palm of his hand and with nary a flourish, he stuck it point down in the soft ground beside the shield before grasping the fishing rod with both hands and beginning to reel in once again. "I'd have to say that your item is more valuable on its face, so I'm more than happy to negotiate with any of the spoils I find fishing. I have no intention of shorting someone if there is a way to make a deal more fair for them. If there's something you're looking for, let me know."

As if on cue, the end of his pole bowed and the line went taut. However, instead of a chest, a small fish popped out of the water and flopped on the shore. Shield retrieved it and prepared to cast again.

It took a while, but eventually Shield had turned his attention over to the heavy armor Itzal had brought to trade. This of course meant that he at least trusted Itzal to some sort of extent now. Or rather, he was putting some of his trust into Are. The thought of telling Shield his actual identity had crossed his mind, but he wasn't sure if this was the right time or not. He'd been acting on impulses with his friends for so long, and it was time he pulled the reigns on those impulses, and instead take things into consideration and process them for a while longer. Giving himself time to go over it and decide whether it's worth it or not basically. He listened as Shield went over the four enhancements on the armament before pulling out Orgoth's Legacy. The blade was black which Itzal had been hoping for, with minotaur horns being the guard of the blade. Honestly he was just happy the color scheme fit his armor's. Itzal reached over and tapped the item to check it's enhancements: It was a powerful DoT weapon for certain. One enhancement of blight, which reduced the target's mitigation by five per tier, or in this case twenty, for the duration of the effect in addition to the damage it dealt over time the duration. One enhancement of burn, which dealt the most damage out of all the DoT effects, and the bleed enhancement, which although nothing but an ordinary enhancement, was still yet another DoT to add onto the pile. The only issue with DoTs for Itzal was that over half of the fights he was always in, he had the worst luck and rarely ever triggered it. This was why he planned to obtain different enhancements that would be far more useful for a player of his personal luck and skill.

Before he could reach out and accept the item however, Shield continued, stating that it was an unbalanced trade in Shield's favor. As a result, he offered to help Itzal with anything should he need it. He smiled under the cowl as he let go of the shield for his friend to take. "He may be shrewd, but he's also an honest merchant through and through." He thought to himself. "In that case, all I ask is to keep your doors open to me. I plan on grinding much in order to obtain the unique enhancements I need. This sword can be incredibly useful against bosses, but it isn't the enhancement combination I'm looking for myself."

Fishing - ID# 188557 results: Craft: 12 + Loot: 4 - Material found!

Reeling in yet another smallish catch, Shield began to resign himself to the idea that his initial luck was just that - luck. Sighing, he cast out his line once more before addressing Are.

"There are a few paths to top tier DPS on the front lines," Shield said, adding onto the thoughts regarding Blight. "Several schools of thought address how to make the biggest hit. However, one or two schools of thought circumnavigate that question entirely and focus on getting damage around mitigation rather than through it. That weapon is an extremely solid beginning to a DoT build. On a crit, or on successful use of Trickster, the player will stack up every status effect on that weapons, and all of those effects add up."

Shield did some quick calculations in his head, working to figure out the best application for the new shield to be applied. Although potent on its own, most likely the optimal incorporation into his build would be to combine the auras onto an existing armor and eschew the additional thorns.

He couldn't help but let a big bright smile fill his face as he listened to Shield going over the advantages of the 'damage over time' effects should one go down that dps route. In some ways it was like looking into a mirror. Always analyzing every potential outcome, going over every number and the like. But no matter how much you crunched the numbers, experience taught you things that the raw data could never show. "Yes, it very much is. And I'll be using it to the best of my ability. However over my time in this game, I've noted that my luck in applying such effects has been unfortunately low over half of my battles. Especially so in the boss raids. Others however, have been seen to have better luck, and more frequently land critical hits, trigger holy enhancements, as well as applying their DoT effects and paralysis. While this blade will not go to waste, I wish to hand it over to someone who could use it's advantages far better than I once I obtain a blade that is less fickle in my own hands." "Caw!" Aldion added his own voice in agreement, and Itzal looked at him, sensing a hint of mockery in his tone. "You don't have to make fun of my luck my friend." "Caw! Caw!" Itzal was less annoyed with his raven familiar and more so just making light conversation with him in reality. Turning his attention back to Shield he summarized. "The DoT build is powerful if done right. But not everyone is fit for that path either. And I have to be incredibly careful when using these weapons against player killers, as if it triggers too late, it could potentially kill them by accident. Ignoring my lack of good luck in applying them, there are other factors to consider on my end."

Shield nodded, his eyes more focused on the surface of the water as he cast and reeled in yet another attempt at treasure finding. "Of course. When dealing with human life, playing the lottery is risky. If you want to be able to subdue, paralysis and accuracy with consistent damage is best. That means no DoT, and no Heavy Momentum farmi-"

Shield, in attempting to pull in his line, yanked something from the depths of the water. A moment later, a hand had slapped him in the face - a large, monstrous hand. The golden gloved monster sprang up onto its feet - or rather its fingers. Where its wrist would be, the creature abruptly ended in a masked head. It jittered nervously on its fingertips before springing up into the air and slapping Shield across the face. He flinched back, more out of shock than anything else. The damage he sustained was minimal - considerably less than the hand had sustained in the attempt.

"Well, that's the first time I've fished up something like that." He turned to Are. "Would you mind lending a hand here?"

They were still in the topic of damage over time effects, and it seemed that Shield was now aware of one of the key factors in Itzal's choice regarding it, however he wasn't able to finish his thoughts when a weird monster erupted from the chest. The mob was wearing a gold glove and slapped Shield the instant it jumped out, before landing and making a stance to attack him with. Itzal had his sword drawn and his battle pose laid out by the time the mob had landed. "Makes sense." He said in response to his comment on never running into a monster like this. "The update apparently changed almost every aspect of the floors, and made serious overhauls to several of the quests and questlines. It only makes sense that we'd see monsters previously unknown." With that he ran forward before Shield could finish his request. Holding his blade out, he charged up the meteor break skill, and unleashed it's might against this hand mob, dealing over half of it's health in damage. He was worried for a moment that loot minimum mobs would take paragon levels into account, but they apparently did not. That made this a whole lot easier of course. Once he sliced clean through this 'golden hand' he slid to a stop and prepared his next charge at the monster. He kind of felt sorry for the monster. It didn't have much time to react at all. Then again, it didn't show Shield any courtesy either, so he supposed karma was the answer for this.

As soon as the creature took the hit, its health plummeted into the red, and it its shift stance took on a new quality. It was frantic, trying to make a break for it. Shield took one long stride and cut off its exit. "Skittish creature, isn't it? Looks like it has no problem acting tough when it starts, but doing any real amount of damage gentles him down pretty quick." He held his fist aloft, and his hand glowed a faint, royal purple. Moments later, an identical aura surrounded Are.

"He seems a little flighty," he said keeping his eyes on the creature and his body in its path. "That might help you a little if he's moving around a lot." It was a new buff, and one he had only used once before. It was not the most impressive of the new battery of buffs that had been added to to his menus, but the others had more long-term impacts, and this fight didn't seem likely to last long enough for them to make a difference. "It looks like an awfully fancy hand. It had better have some special rewards if we manage to put it down."

Now this was a new one for Itzal. Seeing weird monsters was one thing, but he had never, in all of his time in Sword Art Online, ever seen a monster try to escape the player. He wasn't sure if this was exclusive to this mob, or if it occurred with every monster from hereon out, but it made looting them quite a nuisance. Either way, Shield reacted quickly enough and blocked off it's exit. Itzal nodded and rushed forward with his sword art activating. When he swung the blade down at it however, the creature slammed the back of it's hand against the ground, and used two of it's fingers to grab both sides of his blade just before it made contact. Itzal's eyes widened with shock when he saw this, and his sword art ended there. Seeing the metaphorical sweat coming off of this thing, he kicked the finger off to free his blade. He swung again at the monster but this time it used the gold glove on it's fingers to parry the blade away from it, never letting the edge touch it. Jumping back Itzal gave a 'tsk' before prepping his next sword art. "D*mn thing got a spine after all. Give me a second to charge up my next sword art. Like hell I'm missing this thing twice in a row..."

"Happens to the best of us," Shield quipped, not missing a beat as he ran to cut off yet another escape attempt by the hand creature. "I didn't use a single sword art in a boss fight until this last floor, and the first swing I took was a whiff." As he headed off the Gilded Hand, he inhaled a chest full of air, his ribs expanding to make room for the extra volume. With a howl, he blasted the monster onto its back - if one could call it that. "YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE! SIT!"

It sprang back up onto its fingers and balled into a fist, compressing its body and rocketing towards the stalwart tank. With a slight duck of his head, he directed the attack into a mere glancing blow off of his shield. While he took some damage, the health began to refill almost immediately, while the scratches and burns that his defenses left on the hand's knuckles did not close so quickly. "Worst case scenario, if you keep missing, it only needs to take my thorns one more time. Still, you likely have better looting stats."

At this point he felt like he was facing Karma that he didn't deserve. The update had fixed his number one problem as a player, which was his complete and utter lack of damage dealing. Yet now he couldn't seem to hit a singe... Giant hand in a golden glove. Once again activating his sword art, his blade glowing before rushing the monster, he tried to swing from below at a diagonal angle, then curve his swing at just the right moment so that he'd slash at it's lower... Fingers instead, hoping that the programming wouldn't be able to keep up with him nor see it coming. What was truly humiliating was that not only did the monster not get hit or damaged by this attack, but it did a little hop over his blades to avoid the attack. He didn't lose his balance, his days of that were far and done. However his blade lost the energy it had gathered, reducing to a normal weapon all over again. At this point he was starting to get just a little bit frustrated. He was about to launch his next attack when the creature tried to run away, making sure to put Shield between the two of them so that Itzal wouldn't attack. This time however, Itzal ran up to a large tree to their right, ran up it a bit before jumping with all his might like an acrobatic, and landing in front of the hand as it tried to run. "I can track you. But I'd rather end this here thank you very much."

At this point, the party was at a bit of a loss. The so-called Gilded Hand was just a little too tricky to reliably land a hit on, and with only one player capable of landing a hit, that meant the skittish creature either needed to hit Shield again, which might take a minute, or Are needed his luck to turn around. For the moment, neither reality occurred, and the two of them were stuck playing an awkward game of tag to try to keep the monster from escaping.

"I'm almost wondering if these things are worth the hassle," Shield sighed, successfully heading off the hand as it made a break for the water. "If this thing doesn't offer amazing loot, it's honestly much more profitable to spend the time fishing for more chests than it is to bother with all this mess." He couldn't help but wonder how many chests he would have managed to find this time, either in the water or hiding somewhere along its edge.

Guess we'll never know...

Itzal slammed his sword at the gilded hand, attempting to force it backwards and away from it's escape. It was moving more frantically now, but still was agile as ever. What made things worse was given it's position Itzal couldn't risk making a decisive blow yet, as he could easily miss and the creature would scurry off. While he did attempt to land a sword art on it, the creature nearly used the opening to escape, forcing Itzal to abandon it halfway through, triggering the cooldown and bringing them back to ground zero. "It isn't worth it," Itzal said simply. "Not to us at least. Anyone from tier four won't be getting any loot equal to our tier by any normal loot monster." He slammed his weapon against the monster with the flat end of his blade, forcing the mob back into the center of the field, and began to find a better position to attack it in while Shield kept it from escaping. "Monsters can only drop gear that matches the tier of the floor they reside on. It's impossible to get tier loot from this guy. Materials will be bountiful, possibly more gold bonus too. But tier loot not so much. I did discover the location of a dungeon on the first floor that's the exception to this rule though. However it's incredible difficulty compensates that."
