-Physique:

Faustein is 5' 7" tall, weighs 148 lb., and has a medium-heavy bone structure. His skin is mostly sallow in complexion due to a certain degree of melanin deficiency that he inherited from his parents. That said, this pallor is offset to some extent due to the weather-beaten texture and color that his skin now has due to all the exposure it has had to the elements and other harsh environmental conditions he has had to face as well as from the effects of the multifarious, strange chemicals and other such exotic substances which he constantly tests on himself in his always unnerving and disturbing experimental work over the course of his ongoing research, both in the past and in the present, and well into the future. Apart from that, he has very thick, coarse, dry, brush-like hair that spikes up with two locks of hair that drape over his face and which is ivory white at its base and lower middle sections and slowly changes to a light green-dark green gradient towards its upper middle and top sections. Naturally, the two locks of his hair that drape over his face also have this same color scheme.

However, he never bothers to care for his hair or even keep it tamed due to his inherently lazy nature and because it tends to get disheveled over the course of his research. He has a generally ovoid head with mostly unremarkable features like any other regular human. That said, he does have some distinctive facial features such as: gaunt cheeks with high-set cheekbones, a high and wide forehead (though this is somewhat obscured by his bangs), as well as thin, roughly almond-shaped eyes with the usual round pupils and crimson red irises. The last of his distinctive facial features are his gently tapered chin and his somewhat strongly set, somewhat sharply defined jawline. He has a slender, slightly longer than normal neck with a prominent Adam's apple. His back and shoulders are decently broad and somewhat well developed with lean, well defined, decently visible musculature due to his own basic physical conditioning and because he often exerts himself physically during his travels and research. Across his entire torso, both the front and back aspects, he has no more than an ounce of fat anywhere since he almost constantly forgets to maintain a proper meal schedule, especially when he is engrossed in one of his long-term research projects. His upper limbs are of average length and just like the rest of his body, they too possess somewhat lean, decently well-defined musculature. Due to his medium-heavy bone structure, his wrists are slightly larger than normal, and his hands are also slightly larger and somewhat more muscular than average too; with this latter aspect being due to the near constant use in his various physical exertions. In contrast, however, his fingers are longer than average and have a rather skeletal look to them. 

He has a narrow waist and hips, again due to the veritable lack of body fat, especially the abdominal type. Below, he has lower limbs which are longer than average and like the rest of him, his lower limbs also have not more than an ounce of fat anywhere. As a result, like everywhere else on him, his lower limb musculature is also clearly visible and well defined, but also due to the impact of his physical exertions and specific training as well. Like his wrists, due to his medium heavy bone structure, his ankles are also slightly bigger than average as are his feet. However, like his fingers, his toes are also quite spindly in appearance. The rest of him is similarly well endowed due to the genetic gifts he has inherited from both sides of his family.

-Attire:

Faustein prefers to keep his outfit as simple and practical as possible, though he does give in to occasional flights of fancy due to his flair for the dramatic. When at home, either alone or with guests, over the usual male undergarments, he always wears a simple t-shirt and shorts combo (both non-pink) while going barefoot most of the time. If pressed to put on footwear, then he usually prefers closed toed sandals or otherwise may use traditional geta shoes as well. When out in the city or otherwise just traveling somewhere, his outfit of choice is some light-colored, full-sleeved, hoodie shirt with a thin dark-colored fleece jacket over it with a simple pair of dark colored jeans and sneakers below (all of this over the usual male undergarments, and non-pink). His work outfit is of course that of any other standard physician-scientist. Namely, over the usual male undergarments, he dons a formal light-colored, full-sleeved shirt with a red necktie and a typical white lab coat with multiple pockets over that while having formal dark colored pants and patent leather shoes below.

His hands are covered by disposable light-colored surgical gloves. His eyes are protected by durable protective goggles if he is in the lab. This outfit is what he usually wears when moving about outside in any dimension as well, both on his research trips and when taking on client requests, jobs, or missions. If he needs more bundling up, however, then he also wears a white trench coat with a matching white hat over this ensemble. When attending some formal occasion, like anybody else, over his male undergarments, he wears the usual formal attire with his being either a standard three-piece black suit ensemble with a white formal shirt, red necktie, and his standard patent leather shoes, of course. Lastly, his winterwear consists of some light colored full-sleeved shirt with a 6 feet long red scarf which is wrapped loosely around his neck; a moderately thick, weatherproof, Sherpa type jacket over that while below he wears some simple pants and a pair of shoes with good traction.

This above outfit is also the one that he tends to wear when called to be a Teaching Assistant at his alma mater. Obviously, as in all other occasions, under this outfit are his usual male undergarments as well. For other types of inclement weather or special situations such as the beach he uses the appropriate clothing for the situation. Of course, the attire described thus far is that of his real world self and thus included his wearable electronics, but when he first acquired the VRMMORPG called SAO at some point after his graduation from medical school and his official entry into the professional world of a physician-scientist, and started setting up his in-game avatar, he chose to use most of his real world attire preferences for his in-game avatar as well just like he decided to use his exact real world appearance as a model for all the various appearance settings he chose to have on his in-game avatar. Naturally, the wearable electronics aspect was the only thing he did not transfer over to his in-game avatar’s appearance from his real-world look.

Virtues (THESE ARE JUST THE TOP THREE OF HIS DEFINING VIRTUES):

- Hyper-Curious Observer:

Since childhood and beyond, Faustein has been trained in the real world to be one of the intellectual elites of society and his progress in this aspect has been aided by his prodigious mental prowess and has permanently endowed him with an insatiable curiosity and a keen analytical observational ability with regards to the world around him. These traits allow him to pierce right through to the essential elements of virtually any problem he encounters and lets him quickly devise a handful of optimal solutions to achieve resolution of said problematic situation, more so than would the average person, a fact which has translated to his behavior in the VRMMORPG world of SAO since his entrapment inside it.

-Hyper-Focused Worker:

Since childhood and beyond, Faustein has had the innate gift of being able to tune out everything and everyone around him whenever he has had the need to concentrate on any given task(s). This trait is what allows him to ward off virtually all distractions and prevent them from obscuring the path to the achievement of his objective(s) in any given situation. Thus, he is consistently able to maintain laser-like high accuracy and precision when producing results for whatever he may be working on at any given time and thus, this increases his overall work efficiency to a level that is far greater than that of the average person. As with the rest of his personality traits, this too, has translated to his behavior in the VRMMORPG world of SAO since his entrapment inside it.

-Ultra-Detached Logician:

Since childhood and beyond, Faustein has been both innately endowed with and later rigorously trained in the real world to always try to keep himself detached from whatever situation(s) he may encounter and to always try to entrench his thoughts, words, and deeds as unshakably as possible in the foundation of cold, pure, and absolute logic regardless of the moral and/or ethical concerns/demands of any given situation. Consequently, since then he has become a logician the likes of whom almost always cannot be moved by anything other than the pure logic of the situation and/or the choices available in it as well as the perks and/or risks associated with said choices. The only other thing that can possibly move him to act would be his hedonistic urges or his insatiable thirst for new, exotic, and unfamiliar knowledge. Therefore, Faustein is one who can almost always be counted on to immune to emotional pressure and to keep cool and stay calm in even the most trying circumstances and choose the most efficient choice and route to the resolution of the situation and like the rest of his personality traits, this one has also translated to his behavior in the VRMMORPG world of SAO since his entrapment inside it.

 

Flaws (THESE ARE JUST THE TOP THREE OF HIS DEFINING FLAWS):

-Amoral Tactician:

Since childhood and beyond, Faustein has been known to have a total disregard for the morality and ethics of a situation with regards to the driving factors behind his thoughts, words, and deeds. Of course, he still ensures to operate within the confines of the law of the land, but other than that, he is totally devoid of any modicum of respect for fair play, honor, and other such things that would normally be considered as metaphysically significant in the eyes of others. That means that Faustein is one who has almost no qualms whatsoever about the methodology he employs to achieve his objectives in any given situation, especially if it involves his insatiable thirst for and eternally relentless pursuit of ever greater heights and depths of new, exotic, and unfamiliar knowledge. As with his virtues, this flaw has translated to his behavior in the VRMMORPG world of SAO since his entrapment inside it.

-Oblivious Introvert:

Since childhood and beyond, due to his innate ability to and extensive training in the art of keeping himself as completely detached as possible from the situation at hand, Faustein has been cursed with the burden of almost total obliviousness. This not only influences his personal habits and routines, but also his interactions with others. In his personal life, it causes him to almost totally ignore the usual personal maintenance protocols followed by other more normal people. These include failure to keep a proper sustenance intake schedule and elements therein, ignorance of his bodily urges like sleep, and this even goes as far as forgetting to maintain proper personal hygiene, but only really apply when he happens to be caught up amid some one or another of his many and multifarious, ongoing, and ever-burgeoning mad science research projects. The only thing that can break him out of this is if some external agent forces him to pay attention to these personal needs and/or if his body finally reaches the verge of entering its physical breaking point due to exhaustion of its reserves. Regarding the effects of his obliviousness and predilection for introversion on his interactions with others, they make him almost completely ignore the usual social norms, mores, and so on. Additionally, they cause him to be totally insensitive to the emotional needs of others, especially if those are of the romantic sort. The last effect of these traits is that of total lack of verbal filters which causes him to never sugarcoat anything he says to make it palatable to his audience unlike any normal person who would try to soften his/her words towards others.

-Unpredictable Eccentric:

Since childhood and beyond, due to the innate traits that he inherited from his parents, Faustein has become quite the unpredictable and eccentric man. His unpredictability causes him to constantly change his plans and decisions on a whim and align himself with either good, evil, or neutral parties as and per the dictum of his mood at any given time (e.g., one moment, he may be found saving some village or person, and some moments later, he may be discovered ransacking or terminating the existence of that very same village or person). This can be very taxing on those among his allies who tend to have great difficulty adapting to sudden shifts in situational flow. This troublesome quality of his is exacerbated even further by his unbridled eccentricity which often causes his thoughts, words, and deeds to thoroughly unnerve if not completely repulse other around him. 

 

Complete Personality (THIS COMPLETE IC REAL WORLD PERSONALITY HAS TRANSLATED FULLY OVER TO HIS AVATAR’S IN- GAME PERSONALITY WITHIN THE VRMMORPG WORLD OF SAO):

Faustein is a stereotypical mad physician-scientist in thought, word, as well as deed and his various personality traits still apply as much in battle as they do outside it. Specifically, due to his insatiable curiosity, he pursues knowledge at any cost and views the whole world and everything in it, including himself, not as individuals worthy of respect and care but merely as experimental specimens to use in his eternally ongoing and ever-burgeoning mad science research and development efforts. As if this were not egregious enough, he blatantly disregards the personal rights of others (especially his specimens and/or research volunteers) and brooks no complaints from them, either about his research or the methodology therein regardless of any aspect of their background. This already reprehensible aspect of him is exacerbated further by his utter lack of inhibitions or qualms of any kind which could possibly regulate the methodology of his unstoppable quest for ever more knowledge.

Due to the rigorous demands and high focus which his research and work as a physician-scientist requires, he is strictly objective almost all the time and can be moved to act only by the cold logic of a situation or by his desire for knowledge. In keeping with this strictly objective view, his face usually looks stern, distant, and inscrutably emotionless almost all the time and his voice bears an almost constant neutrality to it which only ever changes when he is confronted with anything or anyone that interests him greatly (e.g., by being an excellent potential research specimen). That said, he is very protective of and is wholly invested in his research.

So, he usually tends to be very reclusive and reticent about the exact nature of his research. He was also quite paranoid in the past as he believed most people around him wish to restrict and oppress him. Nevertheless, this aspect has been lessened in more recent times due to the positive influence that others he has met have had on him. Still, his allegiance lies mostly with himself, his familiar, and of course with his specimens, research assistants, and guardians. His allegiance to everyone else is secondary to this priority. Furthermore, he has an incorrigible superiority complex towards others which often gets him into trouble with them since it makes him act in a condescending manner towards them. However, this is only towards those whom he is certain are less capable than himself. Despite this, he realizes that nothing and no one in the world is perfect. In fact, he abhors the concept of perfection and ridicules anyone and anything that claims to be perfect since to him, perfection is a completely stagnant state which cannot accommodate any further improvement. Additionally, he is usually highly manipulative of others, including his familiar and any allies as well.

Of course, in the latter case, he does hold back a little on his manipulative aspect since he knows that he needs their support and eternal allegiance for his research to truly reach success. Apart from this there is also his egregious hedonism which causes him to crave and try to acquire or experience all the finer things in life such as gourmet cuisine, vintage wines, expensive imported cars, etc. This is especially true since he has known it all the while from childhood till present day due to the ultrawealthy, influential, and far-famed status of his family and clan. So, he tends to enjoy these things, but he is still rather uncomfortable in formal settings due to his introverted nature and his obliviousness to common social mores. That said, this aspect has decreased somewhat in recent years due to external influences, so he is able to tolerate formal settings which usually include such high society life at the very least. However, he would attend such occasions only to satiate his hedonism or if he is forced to attend by someone else superior to him. To his credit though, despite having all these defects, he does have some saving graces, though some may consider these to be a blessing and a curse simultaneously.

The first of these is his determination which lets him persevere till the end in all his ventures, for better or worse. However, this is also a drawback since it does also cause him to have a rather stubborn mentality at the same time. As a result of this headstrong aspect, he can be quite intractable to any attempts to sway him toward any path other than the one he sees lying before him. Then, there is his objectivity of view and his ability to stay emotionally detached regardless of whatever may be going on around him. While this does help him keep a calm and clear mind in all but the most trying of situations, it also means he is utterly oblivious to the emotional needs of others. Besides this, he can be quite passionate, driven, and focused when he is engrossed in something he is working on and/or is curious about and this give him the advantage of being able to avoid many common distractions which may otherwise impede his research. However, it can also be a negative thing because it does cause him to ignore everything else, like the basic everyday things such as personal maintenance, for example.

In addition to this, he prefers to be as efficient as possible in thought, word, and deed and this is a boon since it allows him to delegate resources properly to where they are needed and saves time which he can then spend on other projects or studies, but it also makes him speak very bluntly since, to him, hiding the truth behind any kind of façade just to make it palatable to his audience is a waste of effort. Naturally, this tends to get him into trouble with others, especially those among his audience who may take issue with his lack of verbal filters.

When confronted with most emotional issues, especially the issue of romance (and especially when dealing with amorous advances towards him), his face tends to turn blank and clueless. Then, there is his tendency to warn people of potential dangers when he sees them coming, but if it is a knowledge source which intrigues him enough to want it, he has no qualms in lying and doing whatever he has to acquire said knowledge source, even though his actions may cost him and his allies a crucial victory or even if doing so would lead to massive casualties on his side. In a sense, one could say that he is ruthlessly cold in thought, word, and deed. After that, there is his innovativeness as well as his cerebral and eccentric nature. His innovative side and his cerebral nature do give him the ability to solve most if not all the problems he may face, but they also give him that insatiable curiosity which causes him to want to take apart and analyze everything and everyone around him if they happen to intrigue him. This tendency to want to analyze everything when combined with his innately observant aspect of his nature leads him to lurk about observing everyone and everything around him to glean any valuable intelligence about them which he can put to some use or another and so, he can notice things most tend to overlook in their surroundings, and he can usually do so with consistently high precision and accuracy if his whimsy does not end up taking him over in said situations.

Besides this, there is the cautious aspect of his nature which he now has because he not only inherited it from his parents, but also trained steadily since childhood. This means he never even enters an area or situation without researching it thorough through remote means, whether it is by sending his familiar ahead of him, planting hidden surveillance devices on one of his purported allies, or some other ways as well. He usually ensures that he at least has a handful of main action plans, a handful of backup plans for the mains, contingency plans for the backups, and escape plans for the worst-case scenarios. This cautious nature combined with his innate, insatiable curiosity causes him to use all situations he enters as field tests for any new techniques, gadgets, or anything else he is developing them. To facilitate this testing, he usually attempts to use himself, his allies, and any opponents/enemies therein acting as the lab rats.

Alternatively, he may also try to trick his allies or his familiar into taking his more hazardous battle plans and experimental test plans so that he can have them shoulder the potentially risks of implementing said strategies, techniques, and the like in his stead while he remains totally safe at his/their base of operations and can remotely monitor the consequences of this testing and collect the salient data to add to his research results database later after processing them. To this end, he tends to keep his distance from his opponents while gleaning information on them which he then puts to use to overwhelm them slowly but surely over the course of their confrontation. Of course, if it means getting his hands on some exciting source of any new, mysterious, or otherwise unfamiliar knowledge, this cautious aspect of him tends to take a backseat, though he will still try to maintain some modicum of it even when hunting said knowledge.

Finally, there is his extreme, unbridled eccentricity which can be quite beneficial because it allows him the flexibility of resourcefulness, the ability to constantly outwit and outmaneuver all but the most discerning targets/opponents, and the capacity to entertain allies and other such affiliates to stave off their boredom. However, it can also be quite the obstacle in his interpersonal relationships since he is not only highly unconventional and prone to doing things which others find rather disconcerting, but also because it makes him an exceedingly difficult subordinate for any authority figures who/that tend to have trouble accepting such supremely whimsical behavior.

This eccentricity extends to his practice as a physician-scientist and when combined with his amoral outlook, means he usually employs highly unorthodox treatment methods. These may come with some unsavory side-effects as well for any patient that puts themselves in his care even though they are undoubtedly efficacious. The last effect of this eccentricity is that he occasionally tends to behave in a very uncharacteristic way, which may surprise others around him. Some examples of these include things like making esoteric puns and references and trying to fluff some particularly fluffy entity (whether it be his familiar or otherwise) when they least expect it and uttering a booming maniacal laugh like some stereotypical supervillain/ mad scientist when one of his research projects comes to fruition. Other cases of these may involve him displaying a disturbingly high level of excitement along with a feral grin when encountering sophisticated technology or anything completely unfamiliar to him and making impromptu and unorthodox changes to battle plans while still in battle.

In other situations, this peerless eccentricity of his may cause him to become more light-hearted and gregarious, and he may end up making jokes at his own expense and having a mirthful laugh about them afterwards. In his interactions with others, it may cause him to be irritatingly smug or selfish, even more so than normal, and so, he would purposefully upset them just so that he can rile them up with his facetious antics. Even when entering combat, if he should be under the effects of this eccentricity of his, he would be even more ostentatious than usual in his self-introductions, even striking kabuki poses and giving melodramatic speeches worthy of the finest theater. Finally, if some individual(s) interrupts these intros or his other eccentric and whimsical behavior when he is under the influence of this eccentricity, then he would be quick to express his annoyance at the responsible party.

Background:

Faustein Kuroyakushi’s story begins with that of his parents, his father being a man named “Siegfried Faustein” and his mother being a woman named “Izanami Kuroyakushi”. They had met during a medical conference in the U.S. and so became increasingly entangled with each other. Initially, they hated each other’s guts, but eventually they did warm up to each other. Their respective families noticed this, and after a thorough cross examination of each other, decided to unite them in a sort of political marriage which was intended to be a steppingstone toward a future where the two sides would be allied with each other and be sharing their respective stores of knowledge, resources, and so on with each other for the purposes of advancing their fame, wealth, and influence in society. After their union, Siegfried and Izanami settled down in Siegfried’s hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

Once everything was in order, they then set about establishing the U.S. branch of the alliance between their respective sides and the associated U.S. branch of the business conglomerate owned by Izanami's parents and clan. Just as it was with the parent keiretsu, this branch was also called the "Kuroyakushi Group" in accordance with the combined wishes of the elders of both sides. Once that was finished, they started their private practice as a physician-scientist couple and even started up a chain of associated, privately owned research labs, both of which eventually became quite famous. Then, in due course, they brought their only son, "Faustein Kuroyakushi", into the world and since he was the only child of these two current heirs to the sides, the elders agreed to make him the next heir to the future leadership position of the alliance as well as of the two respective sides and to the next CEO position of the business group.

His childhood started off being fairly normal, and thanks to his excellent genetic heritage, he showed great promise right from childhood, especially in his scientific and mathematical aptitude, and business acumen as well as in his high IQ, which was clocked at 200+ points. Seeing such an enormous degree of promise from such a tender age in Faustein brought great joy to both of his parents. However, during this time, the previously hidden dark side to his scientific curiosity also managed to rear its ugly head in due time and caused him to start delving into some rather disturbing experiments on various specimens, or whatever specimens were readily available to him at the time. Consequently, this soon turned the great joy and pride that his parents had been feeling upon seeing his progress in the realms of scientific inquiry and his other lessons to great consternation instead.

So, his parents decided to bring him onto the fast track to prepare him for capitalizing on that aptitude for business, science, as well as mathematics and to permanently curb the rapidly ever-increasing encroachment of this dark side of Faustein’s curiosity upon his psyche. The path they chose to accomplish this by was trying to enter him in rigorous private tutoring sessions dealing with the beginner level knowledge in business strategy, various science disciplines, and mathematics as well. However, much to their surprise, he stubbornly resisted their efforts to fit him into their envisioned mold since he wanted to enjoy his childhood like other regular kids. Realizing that they would not be able to convince him to reconsider, his parents decided to let him do as he pleased instead as they were confident in the fact that, sooner or later, he would learn about the dark side to the world around him and would come back to them so that they could enact their original plan for him. In the meantime, he did enjoy doing the things that other kids normally did for quite a while. Apart from this, whenever they had time and he had a considerable amount of vacation time, his parents took him on camping trips in various locales in the U.S, usually during the summer. They did this not only to be able to spend time bonding as a family, but also for the purposes of teaching him basic outdoor survival skills.

They did this so that he would not be without recourse should he ever need them at any point in the future. In this manner, time marched on for them until finally he came to high school and became a teenager. It was during these years that he became acquainted with the darker side of those whom he had considered his friends up until then. There had been a series of events during his sophomore year of high school which led him to realize that the people he had considered to be his friends till then had been just exploiting his talents for their own benefit. It was then that he understood that they had never considered him as their friend, but rather were just putting up the façade of friendship to hide their ulterior motives. Naturally, he was quite broken up about this, but instead of taking revenge or anything edgy like that, he cut them off unceremoniously without giving them any preamble or warning. Not only did he cut them off, but he also vowed to himself that he would never bother with anything cheesy like emotions, friends, or even a social life ever again. Instead, he threw himself almost entirely into his studies from then on and to this end, he accepted his parents’ proposition of fast tracking him into the business, science, and mathematics realms of knowledge through private tutoring. This steadily developed his knowledge bank over the course of this period. Additionally, he was also taught the various aspects of high society life during this time since his parents wanted him to be familiar with such areas of sophistication. Whenever he was not doing these, since he did still have his craving for watching anime and reading a variety of manga, so he tried to stay in touch with them by watching as many anime and reading as many manga as possible whenever he needed a break from his studies. Furthermore, he also did indulge his interest in strategy and war games, mainly through playing offline solo player versions of games like Age of Empires and the Civilization series as well as various VRMMORPGs.

This helped him in two ways: the first was by offering him pure relaxation and the second since it let him pick up basic strategic and tactical skills. Thus, his high school years came to an end and he finally graduated with honors due to all the effort he had placed into completing his studies. Alas, this success came with the downside of reawakening the formerly suppressed dark side to his curiosity which then spurred the birth of an all-consuming insatiable thirst for knowledge at almost any cost in him and caused him to indulge in the same kinds of disturbing experiments he had begun so long ago during his childhood. Of course, he had learned from his experiences in his past that this sort of thirst for knowledge was looked upon as unacceptable by the rest of society, and thus he ensured that whenever he did do these kinds of experiments, that it was on the sly and far away from any eavesdroppers and prying eyes, especially those of his parents.

This obsession and his indulgence in his dark experiments only grew stronger once he had gotten admission to Harvard U. for the usual 4-year liberal arts undergrad college education. His entry into his college life went off well enough and since he started to distinguish himself right from freshman year though since his focus was mainly on studies, nobody managed to catch on to his secret yet. Since he made a point of avoiding having a social life throughout this time, his freshman year was mostly uneventful besides the excitement he got from being involved in basic science research as part of his biology major curriculum. Then, during his summer vacation, like always, he spent time with his parents going on camping trips where he had the chance to put his outdoor survival skills to the test. To this list, he also added basic knowledge of MMA skills which he started learning from his mother who was quite proficient in it from having been instructed in such by her parents who were known masters of the art.

He underwent this training with his mother whenever she and his father were not busy governing the family and clan’s multinational business conglomerate and its various associated branches elsewhere. Of course, during this time, when he was not busy advancing his knowledge of the sciences or mathematics, he was kept busy with more and more advanced lessons in business strategy and other related aspects of that realm of expertise as well such as high society life. After this came his sophomore year, during which he formally declared his interest to be a dual major, one in biology and the other in business since his parents felt it would be useful for later entry into medical school, future practice as a physician-scientist, and for his eventual takeover as the next heir and CEO of the Kuroyakushi Group as well. Along with these, since there was a high-level humanities program at Harvard, he was able to make a bit more progress in his knowledge and skills in general linguistics and other humanities disciplines too which he had started taking in his freshman year like most of his peers.

Thankfully, due to his ability to manage his time effectively, he was not only able to complete his daily scholastic assignments and tests, but also continued his involvement in basic science research under the guidance of his professors. This fed his obsession with the quest for knowledge even more. This, in turn, eventually caused him to try delving into ever more obscure and disturbing kinds of experiments, and this would ultimately lead to his downfall, not that he was aware of it at the time. In the interim, however, his sophomore year also went by with him luckily still being able to indulge his obsession with offline solo player war and strategy PC games as well as various VRMMORPGS occasionally whenever he was not busy with his research projects or his regular coursework. As always, when he returned home during the summer months, he was able to spend time with his parents going on camping trips when feasible or working on learning his mother tongues some more. When not doing either of the above, he kept continually progressing ever farther in his practice of MMA, although it was still fairly basic because he couldn’t spend as much time on it as he used to before due to his now increased academic responsibilities.

Then, came his junior and senior years where, as per the usual trend, he started prepping for even higher studies and as a result, he ended up putting his hobbies and other extracurricular activities on the back burner with the intention of returning to indulging them when he had a bit more time on his hands. As a result of focusing more on his studies and on the basic science research he was involved in, he was able to get a high GPA and eventually graduated again with honors. However, for the time being, he figured he would take it easy for a bit while trying to figure out what he wanted to do next in his academic career. Still, he did not completely relax and to ensure he would not lose sight of his endgame goal of quest for knowledge and to narrow down his preferences for possible future careers in the healthcare sector, he took some time to enlist in a shadowing program over the course of the next year or so. When he was not busy with this, he was made to accompany his parents whenever they had various business meetings with the leaders of other companies or with the Kuroyakushi Group's Board of Directors so that he could gain valuable, practical experience in the field. Apart from this, he also accompanied and assisted his parents at their clinic whenever there was time in his hectic schedule. This went on for a while and during this time, his secret mad science experiments had reached a point where he could no longer hide them from his parents who eventually managed to catch him in the act of performing one such mad science experiment. As expected, they were absolutely horrified that their only son would ever involve himself in such nefarious research and took him into custody immediately after said discovery of his terrible secret and attempted to reform him to the best of their ability.

However, all their efforts came to naught because the dark side to Faustein’s scientific curiosity had developed far too potent and persistent hold over him by that point. So, with no other recourse left to them, his parents decided to send him off to Japan where his paternal and maternal grandparents now resided in the hope that their strict tutelage would be sufficient to eradicate this dark side of his permanently. Of course, for him it was a blessing because his interest in anime and manga had sparked a general interest in Japanese culture by this time and more importantly in the newest of the cutting edge VRMMORPGs that were being released in said country by then. To accomplish their objective of reforming Faustein, his parents were all too happy to help him with his application to Tokyo U. wherein he had long since decided to apply to the medical science program, specifically an M.D./Ph.D. type. Additionally, for this ultimate objective, they also used their connections to get him access to several extracurricular activities and accomplishments till graduation time. Due to all this meticulous preparation,  by the time he reached graduation, Faustein was able to successfully apply for and get admitted into this prestigious institution in Tokyo, Japan. Thus, his collegiate years came to an end and he began the next phase in his education and set off for Tokyo, Japan after completing all the requisite paperwork.

Once he arrived, he was taken in by his maternal and paternal grandparents and the rest of the clan and so, did not have to worry about lodging or any other necessities. In exchange, however, he had to endure lecture upon lecture regarding the various companies that formed the Kuroyakushi Group led by his maternal grandparents and even attend business meetings to introduce him to the group's main Board of Directors and the rest of the employees as well. Apart from this, he was also forced to undergo formal academic instruction under the ever-vigilant eyes of a plethora of world-class private instructors who were all renowned experts in various aspects of the business world, all of whom were arranged and fully paid for by his grandparents. As if that were not sufficient, He also had to endure several practical tests of his business acumen, and general force of personality as well as constant exhortation about the importance of leading a morally and ethically rectilinear lifestyle and always having a personality to match it. Naturally, all these reformation attempts were a source of tremendous chagrin for Faustein, but because he was receiving the financial aid and support to attend the M.D./Ph.D. program at Tokyo U. thanks solely to the allowance of such by his maternal and paternal grandparents, he was forced to accept such torment for the foreseeable future.

To the great surprise of his grandparents, however, these attempts at reforming Faustein and end his mad science pursuits ended up backfiring upon them and only served to enhance the hold his dark side had upon him and his desire to indulge in his beloved mad science research as well as his obsession and insatiable thirst for the acquisition of knowledge at any cost. Consequently, they were forced to give up on reforming him and merely resorted to hoping he would not at least actually break the law over the course of these dark pursuits and covered up any evidence of such to avoid destroying the family and clan’s far-famed public image. To sweeten the deal and to make them more compliant in leaving him alone to pursue his mad science research, Faustein did make the promise to them that he would most definitely formally take over as next heir and CEO to the Kuroyakushi Group and the associated businesses/companies therein when the day came for him to do so. Eventually, in this manner, his medical school life at Tokyo U. began and like before, ultimately, he was able to make a name for himself due to his considerable academic prowess. Unlike before though, the time he had available to spend on his non-academic activities declined still further, albeit not completely. So, he was still able to find some time occasionally to indulge his hobbies or work on his supplementary skills and talents. Time went on in that fashion from his first year to his last.

Finally, he was able to graduate as one of the top students yet again and had even co-authored a couple of research papers with some of the more willing/accommodating of his professors. By this time, his tutelage under the instruction in all the various arts and skills related to the business world by his various private instructors in said fields also ended and he managed to pass with flying colors in all the rigorous examinations they had administered to him by then to test his level of proficiency and progress in this professional field. After graduation, he was able to link up with one of the hospitals in Shibuya, Tokyo and formally began his professional life at the age of 27 years and this would continue for the next 3 years till present day. Along with this, he also began indulging his fascination with more and more obscure, exotic kinds of research, albeit all still perfectly legal to avoid unwanted attention from the law enforcers who reigned from on high. This proved to be both a blessing and a curse for him as it brought upon him many accolades during this 3-year period, but also the envy and even jealous attacks upon his person by some of his professional colleagues and he traveled widely while doing his research on various topics that interested him. Due to this and because of the many self-experimentation projects that he had undertaken not only during this period but also before then, his body, which had once been unblemished was now riddled with healed scars, suture lines, and other signs of mutilation and damage over time from various other sources as well.

Also, during this time, he came across the news reports which began to circulate globally, and which narrated the travesty of the deaths and other mishaps enfolding in the newest and most sophisticated of the VRMMORPGs called Sword Art Online due to said game having trapped the initial series of players who had signed up to full-dive into its in-game world. Despite being fully aware of the grave risk of real-world death posed by entering this game and then being trapped inside like all the other players already inside followed by someday having his virtual avatar potentially killed off by some enemy or another in it, whether player or not, Faustein’s interest in it only grew the more he heard of the happenings therein. So, ultimately on his 30^th birthday, he decided to acquire an officially released copy of this much acclaimed but also much vilified VRMMORPG for himself along with the requisite NerveGear headset and other associated hardware needed to play the game in full.

 After that, he proceeded to set up the systems in the gaming area of his mansion by hooking them up to his powerful, fully custom-built (by his own two hands no less), state-of-the-art supercomputer and high-capacity CPU network which also had other attachments to enhance its processing power and speed even further than the baseline. Finally, he had logged in and as was expected, he became trapped inside the VRMMORPG world of SAO from that day forth. From here, Faustein’s story moves ahead into the future, and it remains to be seen what sort of changes to his life and to his knowledge that potential or actual contact with the various players and other entities in the virtual world of SAO will bring over the rest of his life henceforth. One thing is certain though, and that is the fact that it will be an interesting and maybe even amusing ride throughout his life’s sojourn.
