Freyd waited patiently at the entrance to the deepest levels of the Black Iron Dungeon. Firm Anima needed new gear. This was the place to find it. All details beyond those facts were peripheral.

We've all had to become accustomed to recent changes in the game. The need to upgrade our gear and available pool of resources is a top priority. I've scoured every available floor. The only viable source of tier 4 items seems to be the deepest accessible level of the Black Iron Dungeon, beneath the Town of Beginnings. Bring your A-game. We're smashing things and taking home as much stuff as we can.

Meet be on floor B4. Don't get dead on the way down, or afterwards.

The Whisper folded his arms, peering into the endless darkness spanning the depths before him. This was what Firm Anima was built for. It was time to see if Raidou's little experiment proved worthy, or if he'd be bringing absent corpses back to the Cathedral in the wake of their efforts. Montjoy stood silently, cast against the adjacent wall.

A ring and a moment of passage, a conversation in regards to what was sought within a mirror made of platinum behind her. The rapier she'd been eyeing in the case for quite some time since the sudden 'change' in how the game worked. She felt stronger in a way she had not ever. A lengthy and exhaguratted sway into the dark dank crevice that was the bastion of iron. That same fellow she'd met all not too long ago. "Freyd, was it?" she beckoned as she slide past him and took a single flared stare down the hall seeing if anything would pop out to her. Vision returned nothing, and coyly she peeks at him out of the corner of her eye. "Viable, valuable. You were not counting at me ignoring such a promising offer." Lifting that silverish blue blade free from an almost needle like scabbard and feeling the gravity in violet in a violent outburst as its power was finally freed. That curious glace of hers is matched with a smile.

"This, is going to be fun."

Katoka had heard about the Black Iron Dungeon, it's depths seemingly endless and it's inhabitants stronger than anything seen on the first floor. As she descended the steps she felt her skin crawl, she rubbed her arms in an attempt to stave off the feeling with no success. She wished Freyd would have at least met her at the entrance to escort her to the meeting area, maybe she wouldn't feel as creeped out. Checking her inventory once last time, something that had become habit when she was anxious, the samurai completely entered the dungeon.

Reaching B4 had taken time, but Kat managed to cut her way fairly easily through most of the enemies, and avoided ones when she needed to in order to make a speedy descent. Entering the safe area she saw the familiar cowl of her friend, as well as a woman she wasn't as familiar with. Straightening her back and placing her hand on her weapon in order to feign confidence, the small blonde approached the two.

"You couldn't have at least met me at the top? I've never been down here in this dank death hole." Katoka said she she crossed her arms and glowered at Freyd. Turning to the other woman she smiled and bowed slightly, "Hello, I'm Katoka. It's nice to meet you."

After a message through guild chat, a few preparations, she heads out to the location that Freyd provides. She was still getting us to the new update the game so happy obliged to the players but she knew that it would be fine. She leaves her fire wolf at home knowing how to trigger the bond now thanks to Shiina. Entering the dark interior of the cave like walls, pulling out her new and improved weapon, the pure heat from the blade glows with the energy. Each step with caution, down the steps that echoes within the silence. A chatter could be heard further in... It seemed that she was the last to the party, but that was fine. It was the way she liked it. She was unsure though about this new dungeon that Freyd fed forth. She would let him lead this time. Rounding the corner, seeing the group, Eruda looks to Freyd with serious intentions. Something like this was no joke. Observing the party as she sees Katoka. One that she has not see in battle yet. This would be an interesting fight, but she was ready to anything...

Freyd watched as each approached, in turn. His nod returned each greeting. Silence was precious down here, and the Whisper rarely minced words. When none were required, none were spoken. The time came when all had gathered. Then came such a moment. Stuffing his face with the last of Simmone's generous offering, he finally found his voice.

"Thank you all for coming. I expect that this will be your first foray into these depths. Don't worry, we'll be fine. I chose each of you for a reason. Just speak up if you find your reserves running low. This place can wear you down quickly, if you let it." Red eyes gazed intently over each of their gear, with a practiced eye. A good appraiser could usually tell by sight alone, the merits of items worn and wielded. "Katoka, take this and put it to good use. We can get you something more suited to your fashion sense at a later date."

Turning to gaze into the endless corridor beyond the threshold, he ushered in another warning.

"This place is full of chests and trap rooms. I believe that we can deal with them easily enough, and the rewards are supposedly well worth the effort, but be cautious. They can also spawn ten mobs in an instant, and the walls have sensitive ears down here. Things will be drawn to the sound of battle. Are there any questions?"

Katoka accepted the coat from Freyd and equipped it, she looked at it and raised a brow before turning back to her friend, "I appreciate it, though now I look like an anime protagonist. Maybe that's a good thing." She laughed and playfully jabbed him in the arm. Turning to the others she placed a hand on her sword, "I'm Katoka, we don't know each other well but I think we've at least seen one another in passing at some point. I hope we can get along well and collect some good gear today!"

Trying not to seem nervous she opened her inventory once more to double check her dear and equipped items. This was Kat's first real dungeon, and it was supposed to be a doozy of one at that. She knew that Freyd had her back since they had been on several adventures together, the other two she wasn't as familiar with. She wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but her anxiety was fairing up regardless.

"Katoka, well now, isn't that interesting." Simmone toyed with the words as she whipped the rapier off to her left side, allowing the power from it to bleed vapor like color off like a wisp. "Sam speaks highly of you dear, I hope you and my apprentice continue to 'get along'." She chuckles with a grin and looks off into the dark crevices of the place and took a couple steps with golden filled iris. "You had me at chests, the traps will be handled. More or less." She looks toward Eruda and gives her a subtle nod. "I am sure we can handle whatever this place can dish out, it's been leagues since we started this climb and..." A flourish of that weapon up to her face in a horizontal bar. "I am eager to see just it is I can do now. Shall we?"

The click of her heels as she began to step with a catwalk style sway that echoes off the walls, a lengthy porcelain doll being consumed by the shadows cast. Howls and outcries bounce back to greet her, as well as the rest of the group. It seems that something was already aware they were coming.

"Good."

Nothing else need be said. Their purpose was clear and he knew and trusted his companions. Anyone watching closely would spot the barest hint of a grin donning the corners of his mouth as he turned and wandered down the corridor. Nothing brought him greater pleasure than focus and precision of purpose. Firm Anima made him proud. They always had, but the reminder was worth savoring.

It didn't take long to find a gaggle of mobs worth engaging. These tunnels were literally crawling with them. This part of the tunnels turned out to be full of kobolds. Freyd seemed to find a lot of those, down here. Whatever. Mobs were mobs.

Slipping sideways into darkness, Freyd reappeared in their midst. One of the kobold panicked and ducked, probably saving his own life. Two of the others were tossed like ragged dolls, crashing against nearby walls. The last just exploded into a burst of fractals.

The game was on.

Katoka didn't know whether she should be embarrassed or intimidated by Simmone's words. Her cheeks flushed as embarrassment seemed to win, causing her to laugh awkwardly and fidget in her new coat. Watching as Freyd smirked ever so slightly, she felt his mood shift as he settled into his battle ready mood. Drawing her sword the samurai followed suit and watched as her friend seemed to meld into the shadows and reappear like stepping into a fog.

Kat charged up her sword art as she charged in after the Kobold that had ducked out of Freyd's way. She slashed upward at him, from waist to shoulder, leaving a glowing red wound on him. She was displeased that she didn't kill him in one hit, but she remembered that the mobs down here were tougher than most things she had previously fought. She grinned as the thrill of the fight ran through her, "Let's tango big guy."

#10 BID Roll: ID#196427 results: Loot:4+5=9 (Nothing happens)

Katoka's face turns a brilliant vermilion, it seems as though Simmone had hit the nail on the head. So it was the same girl, and with that answer the parade of hostiles that scamper into the place abruptly. "I am eager to hear all about it." That lengthy sway as Freyd does what it was he did, made a quick mess of the situation. A jerk and that little flushed stuff cleaves a large portion off of her own target. "Well, lets try this on for size..." Simmone lifts her right hand and snaps her fingers. A glittering dust like sand in gold is followed a sound like chains being dragged across stone. A flash on the girls target sees some status apply. "Let me give it a shot?" A couple of soft steps of her heels upon the stone, and it was as if the distance had folded. A rapier to its hilt in the beasts chest and peeled away off to her left shows the entire group save one take damage together.

She'd tied their lifeforces together, this rapier was only getting better by the second.

The echoing of weapons clashing against multiple targets, screeching from several Kobold's dying on the spot. Eruda intended to add to this, as she knew that they would be attacking soon enough. Dragging her sword against her shield now ignites her sword with a burst of blue flames as sparks fly in every direction. A flick of her weapon to the side before Eruda steps a few paces in front of the group. She would no longer ignore the inevitable, as she slashes out-word toward the creatures that remain and others that walk around the corner, who would feel the wrath of her flames that danced against their skin. They scream out and some just explode. The two that lived, the new additions, which one was on fire, running at Eruda, as her shield smashes against it face sending it away from her. The other runs at her from behind, Eruda turns quickly as her sword clashes against his. Eruda bashes her shield against this one, it crashed against the wall. They both cry out in pain from the impacted heat against their faces. "This is only the beginning, keep it up," she says as her eyes dart between the two remaining, for now...

Freyd watched his companions take to the task, each in their own distinctive manner, his eyes set to evaluate their methods and success.

"Switch to AoE, Katoka, or the rest will overshadow you down here. Single attacks are best reserved for bosses, where you will excel. I look forward to seeing you take on field bosses in the future."

Simmone's unique brand of area attacks garnered interest. "A fascinating approach. Quite effective. I like it."

Turning his attention to Eruda, he still recalled when she had first learned to howl. So much had happened since those days, and the early quests that had led to him joining Firm Anima. "Quite right, Eruda. It's good to see how strong you have become. Raidou will surely be proud."

Facing the remaining kobolds and a group of new arrivals that had reinforced them, Freyd's very form seemed to darken to black. The others watched as his shadow folded upward from the ground and passed through him, then sundered itself into a half dozen copies. Each streaked across the battlefield to engage or distract their foes. Grasping the void-like sliver of nothingness in his hands, Freyd reversed the process and stepped through Montjoy from behind. An instant later, he reappeared from a different shadow, then another, and another. Each time he stepped out, a kobold fell. Half were simply disintegrated, their motes vacuumed into the void unleashed by Samael's Pride, or else flattened by gravitic forces that accompanied the impact of its holy light. When all were silenced, the legion of shadows disappeared and only Freyd remained.

"Good. Let's go find more." Pivoting silently on a booted heel, he strode purposefully down the next available corridor.

Katoka nodded at Freyd's advice. Even though they were the same level now, she still knew he was her senior in terms of combat. Even now he was stronger, wiping out all of the enemies surrounding him in a single move. She a fire ignite inside her, one of the desire to gain power. She wanted to fight and to win. This dungeon would be her means to do so. The drops from these mobs would be exactly what she needed to increase her stats.

As the group rounded the corner into a new corridor Kat spotted four new enemies. With her sword in it's saya she took two bounding steps before she crouched down, blue bolts of electricity arcing from her body as she did so. "Rend." she muttered before she flashed forward, four flashed of light followed each by cacophonous booms sounding off the dank stone sounding them. The kobolds all had been dealt fairly devastating blows, but they still managed to remain on their feet. One held the wound on it's chest as the pixilated glowing blood dripped form it's chest.

"Damn, I still a ways to go." she cursed looking back at the enemies that still stood.

"Not too far, my dear. You're just 'better' for a different situation." Simmone comments softly toward Katoka as her heels clatter past the girl, a new room and chamber filled with all manner of objects that these creatures had hoarded into a corner. Broken pottery, bits of shiny objects that may be of some value but hardly worth the weight. "I wonder if Raidou would." She comments toward Freyd as she reaches a hand back toward where her mark had fallen, and ushers it forward. You can see almost a golden powdered trail leap through the air, and as she waves that extended left arm toward her target you can hear that same sound effect like chains being pulled tight. Raidou would likely dismiss it in his own cryptic way, like usual. The mark lands, and with her weapon flaring at the tip, Simmone takes a simple step and ends up behind her target somehow. Driving that fine metallic point like a needle through its back, she places her foot to it and rips that weapon out with a draw. A myriad of status effects flood its HP bar, it tries to turn, and it heaves and chokes. "I wouldn't do that, it's not wise."

As the kobold she'd stung lifts its weapon, it coughs out some black liquid and starts to fall. The others in this place all seem to do the same, languishing and collapsing with ink pouring out of their gullets. "Look what you've done." Simmone smiles coyly.

The remainder of enemies fall and silence falls within the chamber. All that could be heard now was growling and snarls in the distance, in another room. A smirk given to Freyd saying "Yea, I know," with a small chuckle. She was getting so much stronger than before and the others showed more than they ever had. "Nice moves Simmone, that after effect was really something..." as she watches the creatures finally implode from the black goo dripping from their mouths. She would hate to be hit by whatever caused that. After some careful glancing around her eyes meet Katoka's with a smile. "Sam would be very proud of you hun. So is there a date for the wedding yet?" Eruda walks forward while conversing quietly. Footsteps past Freyd now that she knew she would be able to handle whatever was further in... She would continue to take caution though. The dangers were still there and she took what Raidou has pinned into her head with a grand assault. Shield up and sword to her side as she continues further in.

Turning the corner, another group of figures moves for Eruda. Before they could do anything, Eruda quickly carves her sword through each one and the chambers light with blue flames. Crates ignite as some of the creatures flesh burns. They all scream out in pain and fury as only one tries to attack. Eruda shuts it down quickly as it finds a shield against its face. Stepping back a few steps holding his face. "Over here," as she keeps them at bay till their death eventually comes...

Katoka felt her cheeks flush as Simmone's comment. The way she clacked past in her heels made her slightly flustered for some reason, maybe it was because she seemed like a runway model or movie star. The way she fought seemed almost like she was dancing through the battlefield, the enemies moving at her tempo and never he other way around. She dispatched the enemies that the small blonde had set up for her, their shattering fractals glittering around them all. Kat was surprised that one had even choked on what seemed to be some sort of poison.

Meeting Eruda's eyes she once again turned a shade of red at her asking for the wedding date, "I- uh- I'm not sure yet. We're still taking things as they are, especially after the storm." Following the group the samurai watched her fellow party member strike out at the new batch of enemies. Setting a few ablaze with her strike and then holding the rest of their attention as she called out for them to be finished off. Taking the opportunity to get drops of her own, she dashed forward into the middle of the group, drawing her katana in a whirling strike that cut them all clean through at the waist. As their tops separated from their bottoms before exploding into more shards of data, Katoka returned her sword to it's home. She nodded to Eruda, "It must be hard being a tank. You definitely do great work."

Katoka felt something cold creep over her left shoulder, only to see Freyd's shadow resting its hand upon it. Montjoy tilted his head and pointed forward.

Redirecting her gaze to follow, she finds the Whisper already engaged with another group. Sliding low, feet first, his staff drags on the ground beside him and sweeps the legs out from his first foe. It falls, face first, landing hard on the ground with a sickening crunch of bone. Freyd lunges from his slide and thrusts the void shaft forward like a spear, piercing the chest of the next target. The creature's torso folded inward around the butt end of the weapon, shattering as it unleashes its familiar fallen shriek. The kobold crumples and is suctioned entirely into its inky tip.

Pivoting on his left foot and propelling himself off the staff, Freyd's entire body rises horizontally into the air. The weapon whirls and slams with a flare of white light into the next kobold and flattening it like a pancake. Three down.

Snapping Samael's Pride back over his head, like it was made of rubber, he grabs it with his other hand mid-swing to drive it down upon the kobold he'd tripped on his first pass. Everyone heard the shriek return a second time as the holy seals recoiled and unleashed the void within. It ate through the fallen kobold's spine and shattered its fractal mesh, dissolving it in a single blow. The cowl nodded to Simmone, suggesting that she should leapfrog ahead next. More were on their way.

Another few steps that rung out, as Simmone took point. "Looks like that's not the end of these lot." she quips back just out of sight, and shortly after the party would be able to hear the sounds of a weapon finding purchase. She slinks her rapier through a hole in an unsuspecting foes leather, right through the back and out the front like a needle through cloth. A snap of her fingers sees the link take hold on at least one other. "Curious, seems some are resistant." she remarks as she uses her foot to kick it off the edge, leaving it to choke on her lingering toxins. Death and dismemberment just filled these empty halls, as the group split up just a tad. They all had their own pressure to apply, and were slaughtering these goons in droves. Freyd could handle a group all to himself, still that terrifying force. Katoka was proving rather useful and a subtle 'enjoyment' in her third party connection to the girl. Eruda was still the same indomitable tank. Things were going swimmingly, and they'd buried up to their eyeballs in loot after not too long.

A chamber littered with crap filled tables, a meal interrupted by a cat in scanty armor. They'd dine in hell.

Battle Healing +43 Health

A flare in her eyes as each attack made connects with a burst of flames igniting some as they burn alive into nothing definable. Horrifying screeches from the creatures as a few attempt to attack but are rebuked by more out lashed flames. The one that managed to stay alive runs around Eruda trying to pat itself off. Screaming at the top of its lungs, as the flames caught the tables and chairs laying around. The Kobold running around crashed against the table and falls right to its face. The other was holding his face in agony as Eruda's defense mechanism seemed to do way more damage to it then to her. Eruda takes a step forward toward the two as her form pulses deep blue from her sword. Looking carefully into her eyes, one could seen tiny flames pierced within them. She was focused on nothing but them, she was proud of who she has become... Everything in that room was now nothing but ash...

Two crispy critters reeled and ran in his direction, fleeing from the stalwart inferno that was Eruda. The girl had grown.

"Well done," Freyd mentioned, casually, even as he twirled his death stick around and battered the two injured kobolds back in her direction. A flash of light mixed with darkness - Freyd's trademark, or one of them at least. Samael's Pride suctioned the first into the void, passing through it to strike the other with a pulse of holy power. The tap seemed grazing, yet the little lizard-dog thing was suddenly airborne. It crashed against Eruda's shield and earned both ire and flaming wrath, falling into a pile of fractal ash a moment later.

Snaring a chair between the legs, he whipped it at another nearby foe, braining it with the woodwork, but dealing little damage. Another random stray caught the butt end of his staff as he thrust it blindly behind him, sending the mob straight into Katoka's kill zone.

"Let's mop things up in here, then we can take a break. Their numbers seem to be thinning."
