[BR-F26] Six Feet Under [Labyrinth Boss]

Recommended Posts

The great rat boss seemed to be causing much headache, as it enraged as it struck out at Macradon; rending away at the knight's chest plate, and causing a fair amount of damage.  Through out all of that, the hunter started to ease up on the thought process.  Crozeph was healed quite quickly by Baldur, and they had all pushed Telicomys nearly into the red already.  All they needed was a good burst and the labyrinth would be theirs.  The big issue was that it seemed the enraged rat seemed to more keen of its environment.  Something Hirru found out quite quickly as he went on the offensive once more, to give the creature a proper stunning for once.  The rat had other plans as, instead of blocking the hunter with his tail, Telicomys just bounced out of the hunter's way.

"Leave sickly one last, no?  Yes-yes~ *kikikikiki* All more tasty looking!"

"Get back here!  I am not.."

what.

a berserk mode? for a rat? what did it even have to be angry about; not enough camembert? the unionization of its tinier rat underlings?

the woman watched the fleabag dig its claws deep into macradon's armor, eyes upon its back. with her pace, a rushed shuffle was enough to keep track with its rapid shifting, night following its trail in a wide arc. a flick of its ringed tail concluded his maneuver; to the player, it looked very much like an attack from behind that hit nothing but air.

so she recalled it, watched for the next slam of the wriggly thing as she dashed back into the fray. when it raised two feet into the air, the woman was quick to halt herself, leaping backwards -- there was no telling if it was just as damaging as being fronted by the ratman himself, and night wasn't willing to risk attempting to find out.

for one, she might've ended up face-first in the sewage. and that was something she wasn't going to accept, for her own dignity's sake.

"The rat attack a precious homie" Crozeph wasn't really doing good right now. despite landing a good deal of damage earlier, it seems the rat has it's own way of ensuring survival but with these bunch? the rat should've prepared more. As Night moved back when the enemy jumped, Crozeph dashed past her and tried to land a downward strike... mid-air. He wasn't good at aerial moves, he kept both his feet planted on the the gound with every attack... but that was back then. His weapon spun around as he tries to iflict cuts against the rat, no balance to think about, just try to deal damage.

It was some kind of move only filthy shounen protagonist can pull, he wasn't one, he's just a hungry guy. The katana let out short tendrils trying to reach the rat but it seems the creature was quite good at surviving, or being annoying "someone kill Stuart already" he uttered as he landed on his feet, eyes locked still on their enemy, waiting for a second where a window of opportunity arrives.

The fight was progressing mostly as Baldur had envisioned. The heavy blow to an off target had surprised them, and taken a good chunk out of Crow's HP, but they had been able to recover quickly. It was only fitting that they should be punished in such a way after they galavantly aggressed the labyrinth boss. It was, perhaps, a return to form. Both the difficulty of this rat king, and their attitude. Floor 25, it seemed so far, was just a special kind of event floor boss.

Baldur shot forward, faster than he ever would have been able to trying to move through the muck, as the system took hold of his movements. His sword came down, but the rat managed to parry him this time.

"Get'im, Big Mac!" Baldur called out to his often comrade. The health of the boss was the point where they should be close to finishing it off. This floor would not be long for this world.

The icky squeak and giggle of the vile beast shook Macradon to his core, it was eerie in a different way compared to much else he had been fighting. Mindless beasts, evil end bosses, sentient antagonists, and whatever Cardinal threw at him. This was quite different. The beasts he had slaughtered, the remnants he had to vanquish off the surface of Aincrad, they were nothing like this literal incineration of toilet humour … now they only needed something funny. It did not take too long for the machination to take its form, the lines, the comeback, the setup, everything was there in a flash, in an instant.

“Hey there Ratatouille, stop pulling all these strings and get on with it!” he called out in a jest, only for the rat to have already readied an attack at the knight. This monstrosity of a walking and talking rat was in some kind of anger filled state, perhaps some kind of rage gauge from the percentage of its health ... or just some other random trigger, who knew. The monstrosity struck him with immense force with the sound of an exploding trash can being fired through the streets of Russia. The cloud clanging from the impact threw Macradon a good few meters down to his gluteus maximus, leaving him in a semi prone action now drenched in sewage. “Ew.” he thought to himself while looking around his placement. He looked up at the big rat while rolling over his back to get into a fighting position again.

“Oh sorry, it’s Remy, isn’t it?!” He called out once again and made a swan dive by the side of the rat, executing a devastating combo of blows onto the side of the giant rat in a near instant flurry. “Cutting up these vegetables without a mandolin like a true chef!” he snickered and landed safely on the other side of the rat.

Her eyebrow arching in annoyance, she looked over the shoulder at the rat. "The sickly and women for the last eh..." clearly dissatisfied with the mob's targeting criteria so far.

Needless to say that their target was quite the annoyance, evading a good amount of the weapons aimed at it. Ariel saw everyone else trying to stop it on its tracks and joined the quest, managing to blindside the sewer dweller and use a stunning Sword Art: both in effect and display, as the black flames ignited on her katana consumed the light around her and afterwards extended all over the boss' body. "Maybe you'll take me more seriously now." she mused with a grin as she turned her head towards her team and nodded at the immobile target. "All yours!" she added, a little upset that her strike left it with but a slither of red health. Old habits of chasing the final hit rewards fueling her bad mood.

The fleet footed knight kept leaping across the battlefield like he was in some kind of anime world, how wacky was that. His quick movements were nearly unrivalled, his sheer consistent damage kept the battlefield level as long as he was on the right side. At least that’s what he thought of himself, a brave knight that could shake a battlefield for the betterment of humanity and the inhabitants of Aincrad. This new skill of his made his world so much more fun, his nimble actions that were much more difficult to execute were now somehow ingrained into his body like some kind of pseudo-technical-muscle -memory being offloaded onto him after Cardinal studied his shenanigans.

His battle prowess was growing as time flew by which only excited the knight even more. “Ok, time to finish this dish once and for all!” he called out right after Ariel managed to land a good tech hit on the rat stunning it in its place “I’m in!” he called out and quickly circled around the lady, and with a few quick skips Macradon flew through the rat with a ferocious flurry of blows, leaving big red marks behind right before the rat would shatter into crystalline polygons, leaving nothing but the regular loot behind for the vanguard. The disco party had finished with the climax being the stench eradicated! Well not really, it still stank heavily in this rotten and forsaken place. Macradon would shake his body off from the digital adrenaline and would wipe off the worst of the icky sewage that had stuck to his armour.

He would stretch his body and look around at the rest of his party. “That guy hits hard … like, very hard. Anyone else hurt? Crozeph, how’re you holding up?” the knight inquired.

Everyone at the fight had a niche to fulfill, and nearly all of them managed to pull it off. He would note down who did what and what hits inflicted what.

He remembered that the Jade Hunter was a para kinda guy, but he didn’t get to see any of that this fight, not even a single stun, that rewards would’ve gone to Ariel for being a great team player, not something he would’ve thought of her as, but he had slowly warmed up to the killer of his vice commander, since none other than big Mack were worthy of praise. Baldur did what Baldur did best, katana to the max as always, efficient with his accuracy and stability, samurai to his core. Crozeph and NIGHT were the ones he would consider newcomers, at least unfamiliar. Crozeph seemed to go in the footsteps of Baldur, damage with a katana. NIGHT was probably the most interesting of the bunch, utilizing stealth and DoT, something interesting to see that wasn’t as common as straight damage build.

Baldur whipped his katana around, throwing off non-existant blood from the blade as he slowly returned it to its sheath in the same ritualistic manner he always did. After the katana clicked back into the saya, his steel blue eyes seemed to refocus, becoming more of an oceanic blue. A quick glance, showed him loop up at where everyone's health bars would be. He then gave the party a smile and turned to face them again.

"Ending the fight with everyone in the green is a great feeling."

He walked over and put a hand on Crow's shoulder, glad that his friend was okay while giving Mac a triumphant smile at his last hit.

"Quite the acrobatics, Mac. I always took you for a fighting, steel type pokemon, not an aerial one." He turned his laughing grin back towards the door that they had come all this way looking for.

"Well everyone, shall we see what this floor is all about?"

With a nod of ascent from everyone, Baldur made his way to the door to push it open.

A small bow towards the place that moments ago stood the labyrinth boss alongside a thank you that she didn't let escape her words. Similar to Baldur, she did a small swipe to the side with her weapon before slowly sheathing it, brows furrowed. It was only when the darkened blade was fully contained by its scabbard that the somewhat serious expression she wore, softened, as if a burden fell from her shoulders. "I'm pretty sure y'all didn't need me for this but I'm happy I got invited nonetheless." she said after a quick glance at everyone's status bars. She then quickly followed Baldur and peaked inside the what was supposedly the floor boss room. She let out a low whistle in awe while she took a mental note of it as she looked around. This looked like it was going to be an interesting fight to anticipate.

They were a solid team that worked almost flawlessly to dispatch this mini boss, these were the kind of players she wanted to inspire the current students of the Shiraijishi-ryu to become. Even if they had a long way to go before even stepping close to the labyrinth. But that's a story for another time.

THE END, for this thread.

To be continued, in the F26 boss raid meeting...

The door swung inward, beckoning the victorious adventurers forward. A warm breeze swept through the open passageway like breath through lungs, carrying with it the pungent odor of someone else's waste. A long corridor rolled out like a grime-covered red carpet, seemingly endless as it plunged into the dark. Though it took quite some time to traverse the tunnel, those willing to make the trek were rewarded with a tall, heavily fortified door. Thick wood stood sandwiched between slabs of metal, and an enormous handle dangled from the right-hand side. It connected to a deadbolt, though the thick cylinder remained nestled inside the lock. The heavy door protested with an eerie, echoing groan, but it swung easily backward on its hinges.

Beyond the door lay the true boss room. Ceilings like those in a cathedral soared overhead, but rather than the clean tile of a church, the ground here was rough and uneven. Rocks jutted out at uneven angles and intervals, little traps meant to trip up Players. Though the cavern remained cloaked in darkness, four hulking figures ringed the space's center. It was difficult to be sure in the dim light, but they looked a bit like cannons.

Congratulations!
The Floor 26 Lab Boss has been slain.
