Background:

Yuu was born in a small farm town on the western coast of Japan. His grandpa gave him the tools and told him to work until sun down, which the boy would do. It didn't matter what the job was, it would get done so long as he was on it. After sun down though, that was Yuu's time. His favorite activity was easily reading up on fantasy worlds, in which the mightiest swordsman was the ruler. It made him wish to be the strongest man in the world, despite knowing the way people govern themselves doesn't work like that anymore. Even still, he had enough spare time to practice swordsmanship, so he did.

As he grew older, Yuu learned that just because he has interests doesn’t mean others will agree with him. Yeah, there was the occasional person who enjoyed talking about fantasy worlds, but Yuu had felt like no one really cared as much as he did. He would learn that sometimes it’s better to not say anything at all.

One day, while shopping for food he came across advertisements for a game of swords and monsters. As his mind began to race, the man would pick up a nerve gear and wait for the game to be released. This was the ideal world for him, the only issue was without being in the real world he wouldn’t be able to run the farm with his Grandpa. So he had to set apart time specifically for playing. Although, as he would come to find out, those plans were a little less set in stone than he originally thought.

Virtues

1. Driven- Years of working in the fields taught the boy that if you have something needing done you stop at nothing until it’s done. Yuu has one goal, and will stop at nothing to get there. He needs to get back home to his farm so his Grandpa can take it easy.
2. Generous- Caring very little about material possessions, Yuu is completely willing to part with most items or money just because in his mind he doesn’t need it. Living below your means is something his mother always told him to do, and having excess money makes the temptation so much worse. If someone asks for an item, Yuu is absolutely going to share.
3. Soft- Yuu is very kind in the way that he will almost never insult someone and actually mean it. He’s not very confrontational and doesn’t get angry. It’s easier to be quiet and kind than loud and rude.

Flaws

1. Withdrawn- Yuu’s mind is fixed on one thing, and that is getting out of SAO. Because of that, he often seems disinterested in other players, and would rather be fighting than wasting his time talking. His words often cold and calculated.
2. Mischievous- Yuu, while a bit more mature than most people his age, is still a child at heart. He loves playing games on those he does care about, and they’ve been known to go just a hair too far. Although he doesn’t mean any harm by it, the kid’s first priority is to get a laugh out of everyone.
3. Idealist- Despite being trapped in a game where death means the end, Yuu still wants to be the greatest swordsman. He wants to reach the top and is willing to step on others to get there. In fact, his secondary goal is to be the strongest player.
