“I’m assuming you heard about the recent profession changes.” She responded by dropping a treasure chest onto the counter. The wood underneath strained with the weight. 3ulogy opened his menu to accept the trade, and his mouth dropped.

“Nope. No way. You’re insane.”

“It’s just col.”

“Just a million col. Right.” 3ulogy counted the money with a shaky finger. “You’d never have to grind again.”

“Well, Cardinal thinks otherwise. The appraisals got more expensive with the recent update. Didn’t you already see that?”

3ulogy’s response came a moment too late. “...Oh, yea. Duh, I definitely saw that. I’ve been running low on funds.”

Acanthus tapped her foot. “3ulogy, what are you doing with all the money I gave you?”

“Nothing!”

“Good.” Acanthus relaxed just a bit. “I supposed it’s my fault for not bringing you more stuff.”

“No, you really don’t have to.” It was a genuine plea. “In fact, you can have multiple professions now! What’s to keep you from doing the appraisals yourself?”

“With what time? You’re maxxed out, it’s more efficient to keep you churning them out.”

I knew I never should have told her I’d do this. I’m stuck forever.
