[PP-F1] A Cure For Bloodborne

Recommended Posts

"Y...you gotta help us sir! Please!" Cries out a man in tears, all dressed in rags. He looks up another person whom he thinks would be the savior of this plague-stricken village.

Kioshi just stares down at the helpless villager, his eyes focusing intently on him with his prominent scowl on his physically aging face. His long white hair blown by the breeze as the partially covered sun's ray shine upon his breastplate. He is lightly dressed. Just a long sleeve shirt, pants and shoes. The landsknecht breastplate being his only armor for the time being, covering his front torso and his upper thighs with its tassets. A two handed galloglass sword is belted around his waist.

As far as he heard from the villager, some unknown bloodborne plague struck this place. Victims cough up blood at first, and that was all there was to it at first. But then, it got worse as victims died by hemorrhaging, but not before they turn pale as the cough becomes severe. Local doctors couldn't determine the cause or cure of the disease. Only hope's the Nepent Cure in the forest....if anybody dares to fight the Nepents.

The man had been trying to find a warrior, sorcerer, or just any fighter to find the cure, but no avail. Hope seems to blossom in his mind when Kioshi randomly comes to this village after taking a stroll in the fields and has a modest lunch in the inn.

"I..ill pay you...handsomely..." says the man as he still looks at Kioshi, who is now making the decision to accept this as his first job in Aincrad. A good start in his new life in escapism. Maybe he will enjoy this.

A perfect night. The darkness masked any sort of killings, and this was the atmosphere that Blood craved. With her katana, she can weave in and out in between targets, sneak up on unsuspecting victims, and defeat them with one solid attack to the head. Blood grinned widely. Every time it was dark outside, she always got like this. Her eyes glowed of merciless bloodlust, and her claws ready to be launched at any target that she felt the urge to. She was a killer, but she had yet to kill. She had been looking for the right one, the one that she would release her built-up urge through her first time. Tonight, she would wander the forests of the first floor, or the villages. The first death that she causes must be an easy one… probably an NPC, or just a weak player.

With her katana by her side, Blood walked out of her secret base. The two other players who were part of her team were already asleep, not used to the life of night. Recently, she found that sleep was not appealing to herself, and she would much rather spend her time hidden in the shadows of the night, while the moonlight only shows the path that she would follow. Her black loose clothing trailed her from behind due to its length, but only slightly, and not enough to make it that her movements are impaired. Blood grinned even wider as she finally made her way towards the village that she would spend the night in.

“It seems like the night had beheld itself upon us far earlier today than the other days. It’s not even that dark yet,” Blood noticed. The sun was partially covered, but it was well on its way down and covered by a tree with extraordinary wideness and height. To call it a tree would not do it justice. Soon enough, Blood found her way to the village, and noticed an old, elderly man whose appearance gave him a sort of creepy feeling, especially during the night, not that Blood feared any player.

“Completing this quest, I see. I hope you don’t mind me joining you alone on this quest of yours,” Blood snarled, her mouth wide with menace, her eyes staring straight at the wrinkles that seemed like waves on the ocean of the man’s ghastly face. “You don’t seem like you have any companion with you, not that that’s necessarily a surprise given the state of your face.” Blood exclaimed, giving a hardened stare at the NPC who was the quest giver. “Accept.” She said simply, clicking on the accept button when it appeared.

Just as Kioshi is about to press the green circle on the quest window, he is suddenly greeted by a feminine voice who wants to immediately join him. He turns around to see a female fighter coming towards him and the NPC. Short haired. Red pupils. A loose, black cloth as her clothing. Her weapon is visible too. A katana with an impressive looking scabbard with nice patterns. Judging from her appearance, she seems to be the agile type of fighter.

He is taken off guard when she is affirmative in joining his quest, but not so when she make remarks at his face. He doesn't even change his stoic, scowl expression or move his mouth at the slightest degree. All he does is to just listen and stare.

So be it. As least he might have help in defeating the Nepents, which sounds like a swarm of creatures to him. Hell, he could imagine such a scenario too.

No sooner after the girl accepts the quest herself, he starts walking out of the village, relying on the game's overworld HUD map to find where the forest is. He doesn't walk really fast at this point, as speedwalking is a waste of energy. No need to rush. He has all the time in this new world.

"So, you're just not going to converse with me? Actually, keep it that way, that's just the way that I like it," Blood exclaimed, staring at the man as he failed to respond to her initiation. It was actually quite rare for Blood to willingly talk to people, and she would have certainly avoided the man had she not noticed the strange appearance that he possesses. If one needed a face of intimidation, there's no doubt that this was the face that could do the job. Already, you don't see very many old players around here, and an old man with a creepy face is the most rare out of all the types of players. She licked her lips, imagine waking up in the middle of the night with that face staring at you from the darkness... that is quite the scare to behold. To Blood, this man might prove to be of some worth for her acts of terrorism. If she manages to establish a business relationship, with the elderly man, she can certainly find ways to put him to use in her evil deeds.

Blood stared at the man from behind the whole time that it took them to get to the forest. She found him awfully intriguing in a way that cannot be described. Uniques are treasures... unique players are just as valuable. "Well, well... I hope you have experience in fighting... because we're going to have to fight quite a bit of monsters for the medicine. Actually, do you even think we should get this medicine for them? They are weak... thus they cannot get the medicine for themselves. The weak should be dead, right?" Blood snarled, quietly whispering with a certain menace from behind the man with her hand on the katana. Soon, the two would be alone with no one to look in the deeps of the forest... that is when it shall become interesting.

(OOC: Blood doesn't know that Kioshi has a condition that causes him to look old)

It is no surprise that almost the entire village knows where the forest with the Nepents are. Not only it is nearby, but from a distance a strange arch of moss and odd looking vegetation are visible. Bright green in contrast to the dark color schemes of the forest's depths. Only some of the sun's natural light are able to shine through the thick leaves of the trees. Kioshi thinks that it would be a disadvantage to stand under sunlight if fighting enemies that use darkness at their advantage.

He closes the map and is about to step through the arch when he hears a heavy set of footsteps rushing from the forest itself. He draws out his sword, eyes glaring forward as the figure of a large, bipedal mantis quickly comes into view.

ID: 103355

Kioshi: HP 19/20 -- DMG 5 -- MIT 9

Mantis: HP 20/20 -- DMG 10 -- MIT 0

BD: 2

MD: 7

Before he can even make a move, the mantis is already leaping and wrapping its legs around Kioshi's head at a quick pace. He frantically moves as the mantis only manages to make a slight scratch on his unarmored back. He pushes it off as he slams its back repetitively against the bark of a tree, and steps away quickly while his sword exchanges blows with the mantis's organic weapons.
