  1. Hey, figured before I dove into things on here again I'd introduce myself to everyone. My name is Sieg *Bows*. I look forward to role playing with all of you. Now I'm not overly comfortable openly talking about myself so I'm just going to tell you all a few things about me. Please hold all questions until the end.

I'm a very easy going person, but I'm also almost always highly stressed. I work hard and I enjoy a good role play to unwind. I've been reading what you guys have started with and it looks like this is exactly the type of role play I'm interested in. Mostly because it looks like a good deal of fun. I'm a nerd. If you know of a manga or anime I HAVEN'T read or seen, I'll read it and watch it as often as I can because my nerd-ism is only offset by my slight bit of OCD-ish behavior.

My work-load and timing often make it so that I can be on during the course of a day, but I will not always be able to post. Sometimes I wont even be able to get on at all. Though I will make it a point to get on and get to know you all as best that I can. And hopefully you will all take the chance to do the same with me.

  2. Do we have any rules stopping a person from posting as both their main account and their alternate account at the same time? Cause if not I don't see how it would matter if they were level 1 with it or not, that would have been on them to level that character up.

As for how to do it, is it possible to make it so that only your posts in the role play areas raise your level? Like a way to specifically gain "experience" in only designated zones? Or are we talking about grading posts?

  3. Well no matter how you look at it, however we do the levels it would have the possibility of giving any PKer an unfair advantage. In terms of level can't always look at what's "fair" and "not fair", but what would work best for the site. Honestly I've seen this work wonders for the victums of pking, if they lose a battle (not get killed, but say escape) they'll post more, if they use an alternate account with it too, they'll post with that account more too even if their original account dies, to gain their level. Only thing to watch for would be spam like posts.

  4. Username: Sieg

    Real name: Liam

    Age: 33

    Gender: Male

    Height: 6 foot

About: There really isn't much known about Liam's real life. The only fact that he's ever shared with anyone about it is that he is a father. No one knows what he does in real life. He follows the belief that an online game has certain edict that calls for a certain level of disclosure of one's personal life. Though his real life job has given him an understanding of the mind of people to a specific level. Beyond that he's capable of displaying a multitude of emotions, but seldom actually feels them. He seems most alive when fighting whether it be player or monster.

    Virtues:

Insightfull: Through his real life job Sieg has been able to ascertain a specific feel for people's personality types through how they act. That has let him understand what a person will do on the most basic levels.

Patient: Having a rough upbringing has taught Sieg that one must not rush into things. This thought is furthered by the fact that he's a father. A person who must have a high level of patience.

Protective: Will do anything to protect people that are close to him. Which is hard to do.

    Flaws:

Stubborn: Almost never admits when a decision he has made is wrong or could be wrong on any topic or idea.

Closed-hearted: While he is protective of those close to him, he is often seen as cold hearted by those that down know the real him. He can be surrounded people and still seem so isolated because it's hard to be emotionally close to him

Introvert: Keeps all his problems to himself and rarely confides in anyone. Only a true friend see what Sieg really is like on the inside.

  5. As long as the thread gets locked or there's some indication that the RP that it contains is completed I don't see a problem with just letting things fall to the bottom for now, though eventually you may have to look at it that it could start looking over crowded when more and more people join in, I think we shouldn't entirely dismiss the idea of a sub-fora for the completed threads, but just keep it on the back-burner for the time being.

  6. Didn't mean we wouldn't get players who wouldn't want to solo, but even Kirito partied with people every now and again and as you so pointed out he was part of another guild. Solo playing doesn't mean you don't make friends and have connections with other players. What I'm driving at is the players who create a guild then only let their own characters join, thus isolating themselves in a manner, because now they'd have a choice to be with other people be with the characters they created for their own guild. As noted more people in the series spent time with their guilds, become like a family, not much a family if everyone in your guild is you.

And I'm not saying people can't solo, I think you're both entirely missing my point. I thought we were discussing guilds and the possibility of someone using their multiple characters to fill all the gaps in the guild's structure.

  7. The negative is you completely isolate yourself from everyone else. The point to a role play forum aside from the role play is to build community with the other users that are here. Not to built a community based upon yourself. Guilds are an extension of this fact. You further your connection with users through guilds, form bonds with their characters. If all you're doing is talking to yourself, then you might as well not be talking at all.

  8. What requirements are needed to start a group/guild?

I do like the idea of a level limit, but I'm not a fan of letting them be started at level 3, I think that's a bit too soon and it would be a bit better around 5 or 6, I know that's 2-3 levels difference but hopefully by that point people have gotten into the swing of things. Member amounts 4 or 5 sounds decent enough.

How can people be added to said group/guild, and how will group/guild owners be able to remove people from said groups.

Advertise it in a specific IC forum made for groups/guilds where each guild is given their own forum as Sara suggested, it doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Shall users be 100% in control over groups/guilds?

Or should GM's manage the groups/guilds via the forum's groups feature like how we have Administrators, GM's, and Beta Tester groups here on the forum.

As much as I don't like the idea of given users too much control over things, I think allowing a user to govern their own guild will give them a sense of fairness, if it's proven that specific user can't handle it then and only then should a GM step in and assume control over that user group.

Where will players manage guild activity? in the fields, or a separate section, town topics, etc...?

Well we could go the route of creating a specific section for "guild housing" that requires the guild do to some kind of event to unluck being able to use it, but after that they'd be able to create a "guild house" in that specific section. Then maybe allow it to advance in size as the guild grows and meets certain requirements.

  9. I don't see what difference it would make if he was talking about making it yesterday. Point being that even if there is a "Chief Admin" to oversee the whole site, you really think that Chief Admin will be able to keep up with everyone on every team? I think the sooner a team lead for the current teams is elected, the better off the Chief Admin and the rest of us will be.

  10. I think that sounds fair. No known GMs in game, but still have the title for OOC functions. And as far as using NPCs to mess with people, I think we should only allow a set number at first and maybe have them assigned so if they abuse them we know who to look at?

  11. The problem with that is you're assuming we're denying them anything. We're setting a restriction. We're not saying if a person leaves that they can't come back to their character, we're saying if they're in a field and not in a safety area, they'll be subject to the basic rules of the game we've based the role play to which you want to build a community with. SAO isn't a game where you can idle and not face consequences in a dungeon/field, so why should we be any different in that aspect? We are saying that if a person leaves they can leave their character in a safety zone or in a town and be fine and not be subject to 'death'. Doing different is like telling the same artist that their drawing can only be mediocre and they can't improve.

If you don't put a little pressure no one will get any better. This I think, from my experience as a Game Master on other sites, will put that pressure and make people realize we're not just a site, we are a community, but we're also a game which we are. A role playing GAME based off a story about an online GAME.

And I do like Nevina's idea about requiring a person to be subject to writing up what happened and why they left as far as IC, like describing in detail their fishing experience.
