  1. Aleyna couldn't help the flush of embarrassment when she realized that her level could be seen by the other player, but quickly smoothed it over knowing that being able to train with a much higher levelled player would benefit her in the long run - a bit of short term embarrassment would be worth it. She didn't question him as he began walking first, only picking up her own pace so that she was walking only slightly behind him, to his left.

The field area appeared pretty common, but was surprisingly quiet. Many players that avoided the front lines often hung around the fields of the first couple floors to level themselves up, so it came as a surprise to see that this particular field was pretty much empty of other players. Zelrius must know his way around. "You come here often?"

  2. Oho ~ He was a perceptive one. Clasping her hands together on the table with her fingers entwined, she smiled innocently at him, head tilting ever so slightly as he commented on what he had concluded from her personality. "Hm ~ Is that what it seems like? I just happen to be a social person, and ... I'm hurt." She huffed, letting go of the smile briefly for her mouth to turn down in what appeared to be a mix of a pout and a frown. "Apathetic? You're accusing me of not caring, aren't you? I'm not a cold-hearted person."

It was interesting how he was rather spot on with some of his observations though. She ought to take care in the future not to reveal too much. A lesson learned, but not a situation she would concern herself with. It was impressive, and although she didn't approve of him trying to compare himself to her, she liked that he managed to pick up on all this. Gesturing at the waiter, she added, "Not ordering?"

  3. This was it. She had passed the NPC giving the «Earning a Living» Quest ages ago, the ongoing quest lingering in her list, but had never made a move to complete it. The main hesitation had been what to choose. Sure, the practical professions - like smithing or tailoring - were appealing, giving the user the skill to craft their own items, but there was always the option of Performer that haunted her. But truthfully, Aleyna knew that the profession of a Performer was what suited her best.

    «Earning a Living» Quest

Description: Complete a task appropriate to the profession you desire.

    Accept Quest? Yes // No

  4. Sitting down across from him, Aleyna crossed her legs under the table - a habit that she often had when sitting. "It does, doesn't it? There's quite a few elements in the game that really seem to represent the real world. The comment came casually as she looked directly at him, noting how he seemed to avoid eye contact. That itself wasn't strange - she seemed to have that effect on a large handful of people, as narcissistic as that thought was. What was strange, however, was his apparent ability to casually speak of the real world, whereas other players often tried to avoid the subject. Many players had lives that they didn't want to share, content in displaying a new image of themselves in game; Aleyna was no different.

"It's a difficult adjustment, isn't it, being stuck in the game." She said gently as an NPC asked for their order. She placed in her favourite - a coffee-flavoured cake - and waited for him to order as well.

  5. Aleyna took the offered hand and lightly tugged at it to swing herself up to her feet, though it wasn't really necessary, the act brought a smile to her face. "A brief venture as a party, then? I admit I haven't had a chance to try the party option yet. If you wouldn't mind ~" Swiping at her head up display, she brought out the party option, sending the invite to Zelrius questioningly. He did say that he would go with her, but whether he would accept the party invite - even if it was temporary - was still an open question.

It would definitely ease her mind to be out there with a high levelled player, increasing her chance of survival. Not that Floor 1 would be much of an issue, even with her skills and level as low as they are.

"If it's going to be that much of a bore for you to fight low levelled monsters, at least you might be amused when you see me try." She added, laughing slightly.

  6. Aleyna herself was lost in thought, maintaining a general silence as they walked towards the shop. But at the sound of her companion tripping, she turned to look at him, gaze reflecting concern. "Are you sure you're alright?" He didn't appear to have sustained any external injury; the question was directed towards his mental state instead, seeing as the ground was even and difficult to suddenly trip on.

"Here's the store, let's go in and sit down." She would say, pointing at the coffee shop that they had stopped in front of and pushing the door open. The sound of a bell jingled as the door swung open, revealing a cozy little shop with a handful of small tables.

  7. A solemn nod was given towards his comment about being brave when it happened. After all, it was someone else's pain, she couldn't pretend to be indifferent about it. But at his reaction to her simple touch on his hand, she couldn't help a small smile, turning her head slightly so that it wouldn't be visible. Was he stammering? He was definitely stammering.

"Let's go then! Anywhere in particular? Maybe a coffee shop somewhere? I don't drink coffee, but their sweets are delicious, they're sure to cheer anyone up!" Her excitement seemed to bubble over at the idea of having company, bouncing on the heels of her feet as she began leading the way to her favourite coffee shop.

  8. "Uwaaah ~"

A soft cry left her lips as she stretched her arms over her head, wincing as the bright sunlight hit her eyelids. The lower floors were busy as usual, the number of people on Floor 2 only slightly less than the Town of Beginnings, where she had spent most of her time. It had taken her a while to finally be on the move, and mentally, she decided that today would be her last day lingering in the town of Floor 2. One more day of relaxation before heading off and forward into the game.

Now the question was ... what could she do on her final day here? Aleyna looked around thoughtfully as she let her arms drop back to her sides, one arm resting on the rapier that was strapped on her waist. Perhaps some shopping, just so she could get an idea of what she would want upon gaining more money.

  9. "The Blood Buccaneer." Aleyna mused out loud, trying out his title on the tip of her tongue. It was interesting how many of the players had either given themselves or had gained a special title, most of them a reflection of their play style. Hers was something given to her by a few male players at the start of the game, and she had to admit that it was rather amusing. «Sweet Temptation». It made her seem like quite the vixen, tempting others to do whatever she willed. Not that she had reached that stage of manipulation yet - so far, all she had been doing was socializing with players of various levels, to get a sense of what others were like.

A soft giggle escaped her as he asked for her name, despite the fact that she had already provided it. "Aleyna, my player name is Aleyna." Her gaze moved to meet his when he finally tilted his head towards her, blue eyes twinkling cheerfully. "Would it be too much if I asked you to party with me for a short while? Since the monsters out here are such small fry to you, I'd like to get a taste of what's out there."

  10. Humming to herself softly, Aleyna wandered through the Floor 2 town, curiously window shopping as she moved. Her basic rapier was strapped to her side - a common sight since she had finally allowed herself to use it, the weapon now a source of comfort for her. Not that the blade itself was all that impressive. Sooner or later she was going to have to get a better one, the damage that her blade brought to opponents was less than stellar, quite the joke.

Her attention caught by a blacksmith shop with some of its blades presented through the window, she didn't notice as she walked right into another player who was walking into the town, eyes widening in surprise as she stumbled back a few steps. "Ah! I'm sorry, I wasn't looking to see where I was going."

  11. Something about the fact that she had to be reassured of her lower level was rather irritating, but she quickly brushed the thought away, knowing that what Dylan had said was not meant to be insulting. His offer to help was followed by the reason he was pushing so hard to get out of the game, so Aleyna remained silent until he was done speaking, absorbing in the information without interruption.

It was a sad, tragic story, yes, but the apathetic nature that had blossomed within her didn't allow her to really give her heart out to his situation. Her own desires were different. Sure, she also wanted to be at the top floors fighting, gaining power, but the end result was something she wasn't looking forward to. Secretly, she had no desire for the game to end. This world, to her, was perfect, and going back into the real world was a prospect she wasn't looking forward to. Of course, she didn't let any of her thoughts show on her face, instead reaching out with one hand to lay it over Dylan's.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll get out, and will everyone. You'll see your sister again, I'm sure of it." Reassuring words spoken, she stood up, eager to avoid having to share her own story. "Would you mind taking a walk with me?"

  12. The sudden laughter startled her, not expecting to get such a big response. For a moment she simply sat there, curiously watching as the other player went on with hus chuckles, her brows furrowed slightly as she attempted to comprehend what was going on. Was the question truly amusing? Perhaps she had asked the wrong question, made the wrong assumptions. Maybe he was simply a low leveled player, who find the idea of fighting on the higher floors an amusingly unattainable dream. But something in her gut told her that this wasn't the case. And the words that followed the laughter confirmed it.

So he was definitely of a higher level, then. To think that he was able to so easily dismiss the monsters on the floors that have currently been cleared was impressive, even if his attitude was rather superior. Aleyna decided that she quite liked the air of confidence he had, finding it rather amusing that even with the cockiness, he referred to himself as 'just a frontliner'.

"How impressive." She would praise him, eyes glittering in a mix of awe and something else, unreadable. "I want to get stronger too, it's just ... a matter of time and practice, I suppose. I haven't gotten started yet, and the frontliners like you are already way up there, clearing floors. Impressive might be too light of a word. It's envious." The last sentence was said with a soft sigh, though her smile still lingered, not quite torn down even as she compared herself to him. She would throw in a light tease to lighten the mood, ending with, "I didn't get your name - or is that something you high ranked people don't give out easily?"

  13. "Ehh ~ You must be pretty good then."

Aleyna allowed a ripple of admiration to cross her features, eyes widening ever so slightly. So he wasn't just one of the players who lounged around in Floor 1, hoping for others to complete the game for them. "I'm ..." Her eyes dropped to her lap, suddenly looking very uncomfortable - vulnerable, even. "I still haven't gotten much of a chance to really head out there alone ... it's rather unnerving. So I'm still at Level 1, it's quite embarrassing." She said with a short laugh, patting Dexter absentmindedly. It was true, it was quite embarrassing, and it was definitely time for her to be more productive. She wasn't scared of venturing out - contrary to what she was showing to him - it had just a matter of ensuring that she was ready to head out and face whatever was out there, especially on higher floors.

"Your goals though, they're really noble. I'm sure you'll get there eventually!" She would add, gaze flickering back up to him with a small smile.

  14. One of her talents involved knowing whether someone displayed an interest in her, no matter how subtle. If there was even the slightest of hints, she would pick up on it, as narcissistic as that was. But it was too early in the encounter to make any conclusions yet - though she was certain that she had at least caught his attention. It was difficult to determine the other player's age simply by looking at him, which was what she had been doing the moment he began addressing her. He was dressed rather smartly in a tuxedo, with a bowtie that he spent a few moments fixing. Bowties were adorable; a great accessory to be added to a suit. Of course the first thing she would notice is his sense of fashion.

A smile played on her lips at his rather awkward greeting, which he appeared to smooth over as best he could. "The first greeting was correct, I believe this is our first time meeting." A soft, breathy laugh escaped her before she continued. "I'm Aleyna. I haven't seen you around, you must be one of those hard workers out there." The last portion was said lightly, carefully worded in hopes that she would find out more about this particular player simply by finding out where he was normally located.

  15. Aleyna started in surprise when the feeling of something warm and furry rubbed against her leg, but relaxed upon identifying the source. She never did have pets of her own in real life, and hadn't gotten around to deciding whether she wanted to be a beast tamer in game, but she had to admit that the dog was pretty cute. Though Dexter ... wasn't really a name she would've chosen. Still smiling, she reached for the offered hand and shook it, finding the greeting rather formal, but accepted it nonetheless.

"Aleyna. It's nice to meet you, Dylan. And Dexter as well, of course." Letting go of Dylan's hand, she would reach down to let Dexter sniff her hand, following it with a gentle pat on the dog familiar's head. "Do you normally stay here, in the town? Or just visiting?" She asked curiously, wondering what level the boy was.

  16. Laziness was not something she was accustomed to. But so far, nothing she had done appeared to be the least bit productive, now that she thought about it. Being social and gathering a large network of acquaintances was one thing, but idling for so long in the Town of Beginnings was rather pathetic. Lightly blowing a strand of her light hair out of her face, she quickly switched on a bright smile as she noticed a few familiar faces, giving them a slight wave as she passed. She was in no mood for gossip. Perhaps some alone time would allow her to gather her thoughts and determine what course she wanted to put herself on in the near future.

Her short skirt swished quietly as she walked, not doing much to shield her slender legs from view. She had noticed that quite a large handful of girls liked to wear the same thing, but only as an excuse to squeal in embarrassment every time they accidentally flashed some underwear. Something she secretly sniffed at with disdain, but used it herself as a part of the charm she liked to use to attract attention. Speaking of attention - blue eyes scanned the area, hoping to find somewhere to sit quietly without much of said attention. Gaze resting on a bench currently occupied by a single boy - who appeared to be in thought - she would approach quietly, sitting down on the other side of him. A curious sidelong glance at the boy would be cast, but she remained silent, for not trying not to start the conversation herself.

  17. A soft breath escaped her lips as she descended the stairs of the inn she had stayed at the night before, flashing a bright smile at the innkeeper before slipping out the front down. The weather was pleasant outside, but it always seemed to be inside the Floor 1 town, the Town of Beginnings. Her light hair bounced along her back and shoulders as she walked with no particularly direction, simply out for a morning walk.

Blue eyes scanned her surroundings, always looking to make new acquaintances. If it was something that she had learned during her stay so far in the game, it was that the more people you knew, the higher the advantage you would have. Spotting a boy who appeared to be a handful of years younger than her - not that it would be obvious to most people, with her looking younger than her actual her - she wandered over, confidently sitting down beside him on the bench and smiling down at his dog.

"He's adorable. Is that your familiar?"

    » About:

    An outsider to begin with.

Born in America to a Japanese mother and an American father. Even in this modern era, it seemed as though some things just never changed. And in this case, it was a wealthy, selfish man's desire to show off a beautiful, exotic wife; taking her, who had no knowledge of the foreign country's language and customs, from her homeland. But still Natalie's mother endured, quickly adapting to her new lifestyle and becoming as close as possible to being a perfect wife. Patient, kind, loving. And as clichéd as it was, her husband found himself truly falling for her, taking the time to teach her about America, even learning Japanese himself as time went on. A year later, Natalie Shimizu Taylor was born, a blissful child with fair hair and large blue eyes - a surprising combination that quite defied natural genetics, as Natalie's mother was certain that most of her ancestry had been Japanese. But the delicate appearance that she had inherited from her mother, coupled with the blonde hair and sapphire blue eyes from her father, garnered much praise from others, especially as the child grew up.

    A rapidly, crumbling world.

The first fifteen years of her life passed by without significant adversity. Natalie was popular, both for her looks and her personality, and school was an environment she thrived in. Smart, with a highly analytic mind, her teachers sung praises to her, high expectations through the roof - yet she would always reach them and go beyond, a genius of sorts. Sports, although not a personal preference of hers, was no issue, she particularly excelled at tennis and swim, speed making up for her small stature. But music ... music was something she loved. The piano, the violin, the flute - all instruments that she had mastered, along with her lovely voice that she shared to no one but those closest to her. Socially, she was well known for being out-going yet polite, responsible and helpful. Despite her high social status, she was always willing to include everyone, and provide aid to whoever needed it - this was something not approved by some of the snobbier students in her group of friends, but no one appeared to particularly mind.

That is, until her father's company began its spiralling descent into the ground. Suddenly, friends were no longer friends. And ceaselessly, the bullying began. At first it was just the occasionally snubbing, words said by Natalie that would go unheard to her close friends. Then she became like a ghost to those she had called her best friends, empty gazes staring right through her. And one day, the actual harassment began. Harsh words lashed out at her, physical assaults that weren't serious enough to give her permanent injuries, yet became more and more pronounced as time went on.  Until one day, walking alone at the mall to avoid being questioned by her parents about her sudden lack of friends, a push came from behind as she prepared to go down the stairs, forcing her to crash down to the bottom.

The "accident" - as it was ruled - left her in a month long coma.

    A land called home?

Waking up from the coma unfortunately did not mean a full recovery. Her legs that had been damaged required physiotherapy - care that her immediate family could not afford to pay. And so, after weeks of arguments, her mother decided to take her back to Japan, where therapy would be paid for a provided by Natalie's maternal grandparents.

By her sixteenth birthday, she would be reintegrated into the school system in Japan. However, Natalie was no longer the cheerful girl she used to be. Haunted by her past of betrayal, suffering, and pain, she withdrew from social contact, self-confidence at a newfound, rockbottom low. Words, on the rare occasion that they were uttered by her, were spoken in soft whispers, as though terrified that one little slip up could end her world once more. Actions were done carefully - albeit timidly - and she appeared to no longer enjoy any of her past activities.

    Discovering a new world.

Virtual Reality MMORPG was something introduced to her by her grandparents on her seventeenth birthday, in the form of a gift. In the mass ordering that had ensued for the release of Sword Art Online, she found herself in a new world, one where she could build a life for herself, without the fear of being judged for external matters out of her hands. And so, even with the terrifying announcement of being unable to escape the game, she found herself immersed within the world of Aincrad.

With newfound confidence, and a happiness that she had thought was long gone, her past personality came back - but with a darker twist. Natalie was reborn as Aleyna.

    » Virtues:

.  Innocent Charm ; A virtue to be used to her advantage. The fact that the game forces the player to take on their appearance in real life served as no disadvantage for Natalie - or Aleyna, as she was now known in-game. Utilizing her sweet, innocent image to her disposal, coupled with a honey-coated tongue, she often gives off the image of someone that needs to be protected. This allows her to easily catch people off guard, and friendships are formed faster, helping her along in the early stages of the game.

. Sharp Mind ; Aleyna possesses a sharp mind, even more refined than it had been in her earlier years at school. Perceptive; she is quick to pick up on things, whether it be social cues or danger signals in battle. Although she likes to act helpless in critical situations, she is often already thinking of her own plan - one that would normally prioritize her own safety over others.

. Sense of Survival ; Aleyna's own sense of survival is an integral part of her in-game character. Determined to make up for the suffering she had gone through in the real world, she has a steely sense of determination to stay alive in the game, to the point where she is tempted to remain in the game forever if it was possible. Her survival instinct adds in the touch of caution that her otherwise innocent image would not contain, making her quite the formidable player.

    » Flaws:

. Disloyal ; It isn't that she is disloyal by nature. Aleyna herself often wishes to make long lasting relationships, to have a close-knit group of friends. But the distrust that had blossomed within her no longer allows that to occur. Along with her sense of survival is the prioritizing of her own well-being, even if it means abandoning friends and comrades. This doesn't occur too often - especially as she rises up in level - but in critical situations where the situation calls either for the potential sacrifice of herself to save her comrades, or for her to run off and save herself, the latter option will be chosen. It is a self-taught lesson that Aleyna has repeatedly forced herself to remember and uphold - proving that it is a shaky flaw that may one day come crumbling down.

. Claustrophobia ; Small, confided spaces isn't the issue. It's the fear of not being able to move. Even being in a short period of paralysis can send Aleyna into a debilitating fear, often resulting in a panic attack and - on rare occasions - passing out. Temporary paralysis sends an adrenaline rush through her, and if she is able to break out of the paralysis, then she is fine, although shaken and likely to not be at full potential.

. Apathy ; Rather surprisingly, Aleyna has developed a sense of apathy towards player deaths - as long as it isn't her own. Given the choice, she would mark herself as a player killer by taking a life if it meant getting something she desperately wanted. Even the realization that death meant both in game and in real life doesn't seem to faze her. Of course, if someone close to her died, she may be emotionally affected by their loss, but death itself is only part of the game to her.

  19. Hey Aly!~

I'm Mayonaka, I would love to rp with you sometime, you seem so cool!

Send me a PM sometime if you would like to roleplay together. Also if you have any questions you can ask me!

Thank you! Ahaha, glad I seem cool? cx I'd love to RP with you sometime as well, hopefully I'll be able to get everything started soon.

    Hello! Llama here.

I'm Echo, or Echo-senpai, and I'm not new to this site. I finished watching the first season of SAO months ago, and I did the same as you. I don't have any experience which makes me a newb, so that makes you a professional to me. You're probably more skilled than I.

Read the rules! They help a lot!

    Thanks for joining us!

Naawh, let's not count previous experience as a thing, I'm a newbie to this site, so that makes you the senior. ^^ I've glanced over the rules already, and will be starting on my Journal, but I'll definitely keep referring back to the rules for the next little while, there's quite a large sum of information to take in. @@

Hey there, welcome to the site. The tutorials will tell you what you need to know, and reading over threads might help you see how it works in practice. Come find me when you get started if you need gear :D

Hey Aleyna, welcome to the site! Some of the rules can be a bit scattered through different forums. Teaming up with someone early on helped a lot for me. :)

    Welcome! :D

Feel free to PM for any RP :)

Thank you, thank you everyone! I'll be sure to keep those tips in mind, and ask around if I need help. Thanks for all the tips and offers to RP, and Seldentar, I'll keep you in mind once I start looking for gear. <3

Welcome Aleyna, by chance what RP series have you played?

Ack, everyone jumping on that 7+ years thing. @@ I'm not thaat experienced, still quite young, so some of RP I've done in my first two years were complete newb experiences. Forum-wise, I've mostly done Naruto and Avatar (the element-bending stuff, not the blue people). On other platforms, I've dabbled in Xmen, assassin group custom theme things, and other fantasy themes. c:

  20. Hello! New user here. c:

I'm Aleyna, or Aly, and new to this site. Finished watching the first season for SAO a couple days ago, and I was on the search for an RP after falling in love with the plot. I have an RP experience of about 7+ years, but I suppose I'm still hesitant in calling myself experienced or skilled at it - I simply love writing, and do my best.

I admit I haven't done much reading of the guidelines yet (will get to that as soon as this post is posted), but I'll be sure to go through them all and hopefully start my RP journey here.

    Thanks for reading <3
