  1. [4724] [Exchequer = 9] [Wolf A = 2]

Remaining focused on his target, Exchequer narrowed his eyes and bounced off the toes of his feet with his rapier still point straight and dashed towards the wolf. Proceeding to impale it in the neck and push it to the side in order to avoid a possible counter-attack before backing away once more.

    [Exchequer inflicts 3 damage on Wolf A] [1 + 1 + 1 (critical success bonus) = 3] [Wolf A misses]

"One more attack ought to do it." Exchequer mumbled as he observed the depleting health bar of <<Wolf A>>.

    <<Exchequer>> 7/7 HP

    <<Wolf A>> 2/7 HP

  2. Seeing the others making progress in killing their targets, Exchequer was keen to try and get a hit on <<Wolf A>> this time. "Here we go!" Exchequer bellowed once again as he charged for the opponent and repeated the same attack he had done before; a basic point-to-point stab.

    [4447] [Exchequer = 6] [Wolf A = 3]

"Bullseye!" Exchequer celebrated briefly as his blade shone a translucent green as it made contact with the body of the wolf, and left behind a glowing red scar on its body. The wolf attempted to counter-attack by baring its teeth and leaping for Exchequer. But luckily, Exchequer ducked out of the way. "I think I might be getting the hang of this." He smirked.

    [Exchequer does 2 damage to Wolf A] [1 + 1 = 2] [Wolf A misses]

    <<Exchequer>> 7/7 HP

    <<Wolf A>> 5/7 HP

  3. "Prepare yourself!" Exchequer roared, in order to psyche himself up and prepare for his opponent <<Wolf A>>. He dashed towards the wolf and went in for a basic stab attack towards its body by pushing his rapier hand forward and extending it so his arm was straight and on point.

    [4394] [Exchequer = 2] [Wolf A = 5]

As Exchequer went in for the strike, the wolf proved quick and dodged it reflexively. And upon doing so, attempted to counter-attack. But luckily, Exchequer was cautious and saw it coming; letting the wolf hit the side of his blade; successfully parrying the attack.

    [Exchequer Missed] [Wolf A Missed]

    <<Exchequer>> 7/7 HP

    <<Wolf A>> 7/7 HP

"Looks I caught a lucky break by parrying that attack." Exchequer sighed.

  4. Exchequer heard a voice from beside him and felt confused but alerted. He stood upright and backed away quickly and reached for his rapier, still keeping it sheathed however. Soon realising that the player appeared to be friendly, Exchequer alleviated his grip on the rapier handle and sighed. "Sorry...I was quite zoned in on the task at hand." He smiled. "I am on a Professions quest; I wish to become an Alchemist, which requires me to search the forest for a Tiger Lily."

  5. Exchequer looked over to where Pyro was pointing towards and acknowledged the two wolves that she spotted. "I am; let's do this."  He answered as he unsheathed his rapier and assumed a stable 'en garde' stance. Which consisted of spreading his legs shoulder-width apart and pointing the rapier straight; his free hand resting behind his back.  "Lead the way." Exchequer said to Pyro with a degree of determination.

  6. Upon standing back upright, Exchequer stretched in various ways; his arms and legs in order to make himself a little more flexible and comfortable, before kneeling back down once again and rummaging through the same vegetation in order to try look for the Tiger Lily.

"Perhaps this time, I will get lucky."

"Oh my." Exchequer sighed. "This is going to be a lot harder than I thought."

  7. After around thirty minutes, Exchequer eventually arrived at the forest to the east as the quest described. He almost forgot the scale of how big the Sword Art Online world was, and it only just donned on him that he was only on floor one out a hundred. "This is going to be the start of a very long journey." Exchequer sighed.

Upon entering the forest, Exchequer soon came across a patch filled with flora of various kinds. "I guess it's time to start looking." Exchequer scratched the side of his head before getting on his hands and knees and rummaging through the vegetation.

"Drats, it looks like no luck this time." Exchequer sighed.

  8. Exchequer had agreed to meet with an NPC who claimed to be a seasoned Alchemist, who offered to impart Exchequer with knowledge of the basics. Out of all the professions that was available in Sword Art Online, alchemy was the one that stood out to Exchequer the most as it came across as a technical art that would be most difficult to master, but the most rewarding – he could only imagine the things he could create.

Exchequer arrived outside a modest small house and proceeded to enter. Soon greeted by the NPC known as Goldwit who was stood behind an oak wood counter.

“Ah, I see you have stayed true to your word. “ Goldwit said.

“Of course, I would like to learn.â€

“Then please, have a look at this quest.†

A small screen soon expanded in front of Exchequer.

    JOURNEY OF AN ALCHEMIST

LOCATE AND HARVEST A TIGER LILY PLANT

    ACCEPT?

    YES NO

Exchequer, without hesitation, prodded the ‘yes’ option with his fingertip.

“Excellent, gather that from the forest just east of here and I’ll be able to teach you the basics of alchemy. Good luck.†Goldwit said.

    “Of course.†Exchequer nodded.
  9. Exchequer was in the Town of Beginnings. He was growing tired of the repetitious life style of waking up, wandering around, grabbing a bite to eat, talking and then going to an inn to sleep and repeat the following day. Upon having the feeling, Exchequer knew that staying in the town was not his calling, as the idea of fighting in the Front Lines became more and more appetising with each passing day.

But Exchequer also had a pressing thought. He didn’t just want to reach the Front Lines and then just be hopeful that he didn’t die first, but rather, he wanted to equip himself with a particular set of skills. Beginning with a profession.

  10. Exchequer felt a degree of excitement. He knew that one day he was destined to leave the Town of Beginnings and aspire for the Front Lines at some point; which could very well demand he make the ultimate sacrifice. In a death game such as this, what higher aspiration was there available in order to achieve liberation? Exchequer didn't wish to die however, he didn't think anyone did; but he also realised the grim reality that at times, someone will have to in order to push forward.

Bringing his mind to a more positive note, Exchequer was raring to go. "Wolves sound good. I am not terribly experienced at fighting; in fact, I have never fought before. But with you guys having my back, we'll be fine."  He ended his sentence with a brief smile.

  11. Upon the mentioning of cooking, Exchequer could not help but let his imagination run a little wild. "A spit-roasted boar sounds like a mighty fine goal right now." He nodded. "Yeah, let's get to it!" He didn't know what was with the sudden motivation he was feeling; maybe it was due to being in a group, or a sense of camaraderie developing. But either way, it was a better desired situation than what it was before with the tensions that almost cried out for battle, and Player deaths.

    - {out of context} - I'm off for the night as well, will continue posting tomorrow.

  12. Exchequer clenched his right fist and gently placed it against the centre of his chest briefly. "I am Exchequer, The Inquisitive. I am not the strongest of fighters but I'm not bad at creating and suggesting strategies; that would be my forté." Upon introducing himself to the wider group, Exchequer proceeded to get mobile and walk at a slow pace. "Where are we headed?" He said, smiling as he reared his head towards the group.

  13. Exchequer sighed with relief as he relinquished his grip on the handle of his rapier, and proceeded to stand more at ease; eventually conceding a small smile. "I am glad things didn't turn ugly. I thought it was bad enough players are getting killed by monsters. No need to make the game's job easier by killing each other, am I right?"

Exchequer then thought upon Sol's request for a brief moment, thinking about the possible future coordination they would have as a unit and nodded with approval. "Indeed, I will happily tag along."

  14. Exchequer observed that the situation was getting quite tense. He noticed that Sol made every effort to make sure that he was out in front of him and Pyro, which unnerved Exchequer into thinking that he was not quite as cut out to facing confrontations as he would have liked. Nevertheless, Exchequer responded to Sol's request with relative confidence, and eyed Pyro briefly to get an idea of what kind of player he would be protecting. "The name's Exchequer, and you can count on me."

  15. "What?" Exchequer blurted out when his intense concentration was abruptly broken by the sudden outcry for him to run to where the Player, <<Sol>>, was with what appeared to be other green icon players. Not wasting any extra expense on time by faffing about, Exchequer's adrenaline moderately kicked in and he sprinted as fast as he could away from the yellow icon player and towards Sol. It was the fastest he had run in a long time, and by the time he had reached Sol, Exchequer realised that his cardiovascular fitness was out of whack...in a video game. He was panting quite heavily, but Exchequer soon found the strength to grip onto the handle of his Rapier; ready to unsheathe it if worse came to the worst.

  16. Exchequer was lost. It hadn't been long since he finally realised that he was trapped in a death game, and what made it worse was that he didn't even know how to react to the situation. He had seen many people die already; Players who he initially thought would have been alright, but considering the atmosphere of Aincrad; the suspense, the fear of even leaving the Town of Beginnings, Exchequer eventually guessed that perhaps the situation wasn't so...playful.

While wandering in the abyss that was his thoughts, Exchequer was aimlessly walking through the fields of floor one. He had to leave the haven that was the Town of Beginnings eventually, for he didn't like to be categorised as a Player who was unwilling to fight for liberation; especially when many others made the ultimate sacrifice already.

Exchequer's attention was soon averted, and his untamed thoughts were halted. He spotted a small group of Players in the near distance. He began to observe them; deducing their intentions and deciding whether or not they were friendly.

    » Username: Exchequer
    » Real name: Clarence Hague
    » Age: 22
    » Gender: Male
    » Height: 5'11"

    » About: History/personality

Clarence Hague was raised by a family of English aristocrats in Hastings; where he spent most of his life before moving to Oxford in order to live out his own adult life independently. Clarence was introverted during his boarding schooling years right up to university; preferring the notion of keeping to himself. He has a keen aptitude for programming and computers and sometimes finds better comfort in the company of his own-built machines than actual people - openly stating that he finds 'machines easier to understand'. It should come to no surprise then, that the name 'Sword Art Online' and the work of Akihiko Kayaba piqued his interests. To him, Kayaba's work was a bold step in computer technological advancement, and Clarence was so keen to see how humanity could further benefit from the technology of NerveGear outside entertainment that he imported the device and the necessary components to operate the game from Japan.

    » Virtues:

Observant - Although Clarence likes to keep to himself, as a result of that he naturally developed a meticulous quirk in his personality; enabling him to focus on the small minor details that most would usually oversee.

Calm - Due to his lack of interaction with other people out of choice, Clarence does not get easily rattled by the occasional off-handed remarks but rather, brushes them off and usually rebounds with something sharper.

Strategically Sound - Due to his personality, Clarence finds it easier to form various strategies and tactics to implement in a particular circumstance with relative ease.

    » Flaws:
    Reference: http://www.darkworldrpg.com/lore/flaws.html

Cynical - Clarence has an odd view of the world around him and doesn't believe that good things are done out of good will, but rather, to fulfil a more beneficial ulterior motive under a positive guise.

Skeptical - Clarence has an habitual tendency to doubt, question, or disagree with assertions or generally accepted conclusions.

Mistrusting - Due to his personality, Clarence is not too easily trusting of other people he encounters, instead keeping them at arm's length until he finds out more about them.

    (Oh God, introductions)

    Hello lovely members of SAO-RPG,

I am not terribly good at writing introductions for I find them a bit awkward. However, just to 'break the ice', I suppose I could write a little about myself.

I have participated in a large variety of different RP systems ranging from the very basic to the really advanced stuff over the years. From reading around on here so far I am very pleased that 1) I finally happened upon a RP site dedicated to one of my favourite works, and 2) This site has a very rewarding and in-depth mechanics system  (I am hoping to have a lot of fun on this)! I also write short stories as a hobby, I'm from the United Kingdom, and I am currently at university. I look forward to interacting with you all!

    Regards,

    Exchequer
