  1. With his new jacket and now knowing that he does indeed have armor equipped, Vangran was ecstatic. Sure, he had failed a couple times, but that didn't change the fact that he had all but completed his look, and all he would need to do is make some pants and he'd be golden. As it was his new overcoat was doing wonders for his self-esteem, and he looked forward to seeing how it would fair in battle, not every day one made a rare jacket after all.

  2. Alright, I've done the post, ready for inspection.

With this final attempt, Vangran was hoping for something special, and so, taking a deep breath, brought out the last piece of leather and got to work on it. It didn't take long for the leather to begin to glow, morphing into a new shape that was longer than anything he had ever made before. the blond-haired tailor was ecstatic as he was quite fond of trench coats (even though this technically wasn't one), and was quick to put it on.

Making his way outside the city limits, Vangran walked towards the woods once again, intent on getting that last piece of leather. He didn't know how things would turn out, but he had high hopes for this last piece. He scanned the woods, looking for broken terrain and trying to spot any places that might reveal an animal had passed by.  He shook his head as he found nothing, and continued looking.

Moving forward, he heard a sound to his left that sounded vaguely like a twig being stepped on, and, slowly drawing his sword, advanced on the sound. His eyes were easily able to make out the figure of the buck as it chewed obliviously on some grass, making it easy pickings for the tailor.

He sighed as he accepted the item, and sheathed his blade, wasting no time getting out of the woods and back to the main road to the Town of Beginning. He didn't want to stretch this out any longer than was necessary.

For his last attempt, the somewhat-inspired shopkeeper thought about making some bracers, and so he got to work on the last piece of leather, and watched as it began to take on it's new shape. Vangran was beaming like a fool when it stopped glowing and revealed his chosen gear-piece. He quickly strapped them on, and then thought about how he would spend the rest of the day. Thinking for a moment, he figured he could look for one last deer to make a final piece before he called it quits.

Upon waking up, he went about his morning routine, and then went into the shop proper, where he set out the two pieces of leather he had left to see what he'd make of them. Putting the first piece in front of him, he got to work on it and watched it begin to glow, and as it began to settle into its new form, he sighed in relief. Looking over the details, he was pleased to see it was a good quality item, no need to worry about scrapping his own creations this time.

    Item acquired: Leather Gloves

Picking them up, he looked at the specs on the gear, and while it didn't have an enhancement like the last pair he made, he was still inordinately pleased with it.

    Name: Leather Gloves

    Type: Leather Armor (Gloves)

  8. With the past hours failures and success, Vangran walked out of the shop to look around at the other tailor's wares. He figured that looking at the successes of others would spur him on to make less mistakes. With all that he tried, he wasn't too optimistic about his upcoming attempts, remembering the first attempts with cotton always brought a state of melancholy upon him. Shaking his head in an attempt to vanish the thoughts, he looked down at a finger pair of boots than what he had just made and wondered if he'd be fortunate enough to make something like that sometime soon. He certainly hoped so, his coat was his finest achievement thus far, but he didn't want it to be the only fine thing he made.

His last attempt of the day saw him with a very unnerving result. While not as violent a shattering as one of his earlier attempts, it was no less frustrating to see something that took so long to find just up and shatter on him. He set aside his tools and stretched his arms. It was more habit at this point, and right now he needed some comfort to get over the double-failure. He would try again tomorrow and see if his luck changed any.

His second attempt of the day saw him with a bit more luck, as soon after he set the instrument against the material it began to glow before taking a new shape. It seemed to be that of a pair of boots. He smiled softly, "It seems my luck hasn't left me entirely." He moved them across the counter. He would decide what to do with them later.

Upon waking up, Vangran made his way into the shop proper and got out the newly acquired leather. He had high hopes for this, even though he probably shouldn't considering his first time with cotton. But he was an optimistic fool, so here he was. Putting the first piece down, he got out the tanner and watched as the leather began to glow before shattering, signiling a failure. He shook his head. It seemed he still had much to learn.

  12. It was with strong, purpose-filled strides that brought him to the edge of the woods once again, and back onto the road that leads to the Town of Beginning. The sun was low in the sky, indicating it had taken longer than he had anticipated, but still within an acceptable time frame. He would start crafting tomorrow, as he was still tired after his hunting trip, so he had something to look forward to tomorrow, at any rate. And even though he doubted he would replicate his success with the coat any time soon, he did look forward to the attempts.

After wiping the deer excrement off his shoes, Vangran the oblivious tailor was able to pick up the scent (so-to-speak) of the runaway deer, and happened across it as it was nibbling on some plants, obviously thinking it was safe from harm at the moment, little knowing it's relatively short life as an NPC was about to come to an end. Charging forward he unsheathed his sword and with a quickly applied sword-skill struck it down, acquiring the last item he needed to begin crafting. He just hoped he didn't find any more "gifts" along the way.

Following his failure-most-horrid,  the semi-oblivious blond went to the edge of the forest, trying to see if he could find any traces of his departed prey, only to step in something he hadn't thought could even exist here: animal feces. The squelching sound it made as his foot planted in it only served to make him wince and growl simultaneously. He had found his trace alright, but he could have done without landing in it.

Walking around, the blond wondered how his first piece of armor would look, feet crunching twigs and broken branches as he walked leaving them to burst into pixels as he moved away, covering the sound of an animal running the opposite direction. He blinked as the fading hoofs met his ears. Then he scowled as he realized a perfect opportunity had just passed him by, leaving him in a most foul mood. "Why oh why did I have to stop paying attention then?"

Shaking his head in wonderment, the Civil War enthusiast looked out across a small clearing at a sleeping doe. Now, while in the real world he might feel bad about doing this, but in here? The doe isn't actually real, so true pain is beyond it and it also isn't caring for any children, so no tugging on his heartstrings. Shaking his head at the roundabout his thoughts took, Vangran quietly (as he was able) made his way over to the sleeping creature and slit it's throat, a small window popping up that he had found an item, and he accepted it, taking the material into his inventory.

    Item acquired: Leather x1

Smiling to himself, he closed the window, nodding at the string of successes and thinking, Only one left and then the crafting can begin. I only hope I do better this time then when I was starting out, cause those failures were embarrassing.

  17. Moving back towards the edge of the woods, not particularly sure what was waiting for him in the heart of the forest. Vangran took the hat off his head, fanning himself lightly. While exhaustion might not work the same in-game as it did in the real world, that didn't mean that heat didn't either. And he had worked up quite a sweat with all this running around. While he might have had some good fortune thus far, that didn't change the fact that he was still quite unskilled in the way of weapons and the like. He really needed to get a better sword. He suddenly thought about going to a blacksmith after this was done, although that train of thought was derailed the moment he walked into a tree. He automatically rubbed the spot that was hit, inwardly cursing his inability to pay attention at times.

"I really need to be more aware of my surroundings."

With his repeated success, Vangran was actually having fun on this impromptu hunting trip. He wasn't exactly the patient sort when it came to these things, but that didn't mean he couldn't exercise it when the situation called for it. So as he wandered about a bit more,he found a buck killing a boar, strangely enough, but it seemed the boar inflicted some damage to it as soon after the boar shattered it collapsed, making it easy pickings for the up-and-coming tailor.

Grinning triumphantly, he looked at his current stockpile and thought to himself, Huh, only 2 more to go, I'm on a roll! And after closing the window, he began to wander about again, nearly walking into a tree as his head was lost in the pixelated clouds once more.

As the day dragged on, Vangran found himself wondering absently about his shop, and that whenever he opened it would he actually have customers. It was during this walk down lost-in-thought lane that he found himself tripping over a sleeping buck. Looking upward in wonderment he quickly drew his blade and felled it, getting the leather from the action.

He was quite pleased with himself after this, but knew that he wanted at least three more pieces of leather before he would get to crafting armor. While he had been able to make his dream coat, he still wanted to be able to protect himself a bit, and when that was accomplished, he would go about making sure others were protected too.

As he was wandering around the woods, Vangran heard something rustling in the underbrush, and, being the novice hunter that he is, moved towards it. It was fortunate for him in this case as the rustling in question was a deer, and with a mighty swing took it out before it could run. With that, he was quite glad that he had set out today (conveniently forgetting his earlier pessimism).

    Item acquired: Leather x1

After storing the material in his inventory, the blue-eyed blond moved deeper into the forest, easily skirting around the mobs that popped up every now and then. He only hoped he had more success today.

  21. ID: 25019 LD: 6+2

Wandering through the woods, Vangran was happy he didn't need to look for cotton again, although he had the feeling it would have been easier than what he was doing now, as hunting wasn't exactly something you picked up on the sly. And he was by no means a competent hunter. Sure he knew the basics, but that didn't mean a whole lot when performing the actual deed. So far he hadn't seen diddly, and even with his new hat and the points he put in searching he hadn't had any luck. He grumbled under his breath, "Where are those dang deer? It's not like someone else is hunting them right now, right?"

  22. Upon realization that he had run out of materials, and inclined to make some leather armor this time as opposed to clothes. But he knew he needed a quest in order to get a good amount of materials, so he went back to Michael the NPC tailor and got the repeatable quest. It was after he got it that he noticed that it was slightly different from before, and all he had to do was bring the items he made in for inspection as opposed to giving them all up.

So, straightening his newly-made hat and buttoning up his jacket, set out of Starting City with a clear goal in mind. He would need to kill some animals that aren't mobs to get what he's after. Thankfully that should't be too much of a problem, but he knew that they often ran when spotted, so he would have to be quick about it. He didn't want this to take too long, but knew realistically that it would probably take the better part of the day and might even stretch into tomorrow as well. For all his successes in crafting his searching ability was abysmal, at least he had some points in that skill now, and his hat would definitely help too.

  23. Crafting attempt #9: ID: 24326 CD: 10

With his last attempt before he would need to go out and get more materials, Vangran brought out his final piece of  cotton and prayed that it would turn out alright. When it began to shine and take a shape, he was pleased beyond belief that he succeeded three times in a row, nevermind that one was perfect and the other two uncommon, it was a miracle as a beginner to be so fortunate
