  1. Jesus this guy is pathetic. Eli thought to himself. The kid had looked at him like he'd seen a ghost and dived backwards away from him, while doing so, he managed to stab himself in the leg with his own sword. However, Eli stood up in a hurry to try and help the kid, however he was beaten to it, as the third member of their little gang had already stepped up and tried to help him. As the kid stood there, he started screaming apologies, What is wrong with him... Eli kept his thoughts to himself, maybe with the current situation, now wasn't the time for his vain remarks.

The more sane member of their band introduced himself as Kaluluwa. Well isn't that a mouthful. "I think I'll call you Kalu if you don't mind." Eli picked the sword up off the grove below him and took it away from the injured kid. "My screen name is Crown, you can just call me that." The sword was most likely safer away from the kid, otherwise he may just try and hurt himself again, Eli knelt down to him, he was in the fetal position, "I'm going to hold onto this for now, just until you're ok" He then turned to Kalu, "It's only one boar, if it comes this way two of us should be able to handle it, the problem comes if there is more of them, we may not be able to handle three or four, at least not just the two of us." Eli glanced down toward the curled up kid, "I don't really think he's in much position to fight."

  2. Eli told himself once before, that he was never going to go back to the starting city. The place was nothing but a haunted memory of the time he spend locked away, trapped in fear. It was a time he'd much rather forget. However, today, he had to go back to restock some of the basic necessities that were only sold by NPCs in the Starting City. As much as he hated being there, the sound of crowds and the sight of actual real people was a welcome change from the constant stream of NPCs he saw mulling around in the outside world.

The streets were filled with NPC shops, selling anything from food to armour to weapons. Despite this he had never actually bought any arms from any blacksmiths. In Eli's mind, blacksmiths shove up their prices to a ridiculous amount because it a basic necessity that everyone needed. Maybe one day he would open up his own store, where he could forge his own weapons and armour, and maybe sell some of the other stuff he didn't need.

Eli had once considered jumping from the edge of the giant castle he was trapped within. That would have been so much easier than lasting in this hell, however, every time he thought about it, he remembered his sister, who was still on the outside, who probably had no idea he was even in here. He had to get out, just so that he could see her, even just one more time, that's all he needed. He didn't even know where she was, they had lost contact a few months before he came in here, they had had a fight about something stupid and it had haunted Eli ever since.

With all his shopping done, he decided to leave the city, however, he was stopped by something out of the corner of his eye. A blonde kid, maybe still in his teens, was sitting down outside the city, clutching his head. To be fair, this wasn't uncommon, many people in the early days were struck by depression and other stress related illnesses, and many did the same as Eli and struggled to leave the starting city, and probably many people wouldn't for the rest of their time here, if they even got out at all.

He approached the kid and sat down next to him, "What's wrong man?" It seemed to casual to Eli, he didn't know how he would take it, or if he would even acknowledge his presence at all.

  3. Eli and the boar both charged at each other simultaneously, Eli reaching the boar with his sword just a slight bit ahead of the boar, striking directly in the centre of the boar's skull, however, the boar was also successful in it's attack, managing to strike Eli with it's tusks before exploding in a blinding light. The boar's pixels separating before cracking apart and falling to the ground likes leaves in autumn.

He sighed and fell flat on his ass, "If that's what combat is like, I don't know how long I'm going to last here." For the first time he caught himself laughing, even if it was only a slight chuckle. While he sat there, waiting for his loot to pop up, he started to become irritable.

Eli stood up, swiping with his left hand down to open the menu. No notifications, nothing, just the regular menu. Then he remembered. His attempts to open the menu and log out, and the log out button was truly gone, and he was trapped in here. So he just sat down again, thinking about the battle that had just happened.

That was just a simple boar, not even strong enough to warrant loot, and he lost a little less than a third of his health, he sighed. Eli had a long way to go before he gained any kind of strength.

  4. "Finally" Eli muttered to himself, this boar would be a piece of cake, compared to some of the. Eli drew his sword and prepared an attack, the boar, while only being spawned quite near to him, had yet to notice him. He drew his sword back into it's preparation position. The blade turned a glowing cobalt blue, before the system assist kicked in, thrusting toward the creature. However, the element of surprise was too much pressure for Eli, and mid charge, his foot caught on a rock and he fell face first into a bush, his sword's glow dissipating faster than his front line dreams. As he got up, he noticed the boar staring back at him, it's glowing red eyes looking angry, and ready to attack.

The Boar reared it's hind legs, scraping its hooves along the ground, causing small indentations in the ground where it stood. Eli, still trapped in the bush, was unable to dodge the attack, but the system must have looked down upon the boar today, because while charging at him, the boar also caught on a rock and sent him tumbling past Eli. Eli got up, dusting off the last of the thorns that were still stuck into his clothes from the bush. He gave the boar a blank look, in Eli's mind, the game wasn't programmed to handle such idiotic situations.

Eli turned to face the boar that was doing the same as him, getting up and dusting off. They looked at each other and their gaze said, "Let's pretend that didn't happen"

He readied his sword, raising his left hand, the hand he carried his sword in, up behind his head, the tip pointing directly toward the centre of the boar's skull, readied for the next attack.

  5. "Enough." Eli thought to himself as he sat in an inn, hidden away somewhere within the town of beginnings. Ever since the start of this death game, he had immediately run in fear, tucking himself away in the smallest corner he could find. He was afraid. Afraid of death. Eli didn't want to venture out of the starting town, because he was constantly under the threat of being attacked by random monsters, and he was not ready to die just yet. Worse yet, Eli was afraid of being attacked by other players. In a situation like this, online, people are hidden behind an anonymous persona, a display name. In such situations people aren't afraid of turning into animals, because the consequences seem non-existent.

While hiding away, he read all the news of the progress group, and all the floors they had cleared. To Eli, that's where he wanted to be, but he was restricted by the fear of death. However, today, something clicked, he was no longer afraid, he was just frustrated with himself, for skulking away, while others risked their lives to save everyone from this hell. Eli opened his inventory and equipped his rapier, a weapon he had come to love from past RPGs that he had played, a weapon that he felt embodied speed and grace, however he understood the drawbacks. Eli also donned his iron armour, tools that were supplied to all players when they began the game. The gear was very basic and Eli made a note to upgrade it as soon as he could, perhaps he could find a blacksmith who would make gear for cheap.

He closed the door softly, and left the inn, wanting never to return to the town of beginnings for anything other than to purchase the essentials for travelling. The place became a personal hell while he wasted away in there, so leaving was the best remedy. The rolling green plains of grass surrounding the ginormous walls seemed infinite, only separated by the forests that were scattered around the circular floor. His destination was the nearby town of Horunka, hopefully a welcome change from the metropolis environment. He also knew of a few quests he could complete and make a start. However, getting there would not be an easy task. Only having spent his time hidden away, he was still level one, and very weak, so any monsters he encountered would be dangerous, and basically what he feared most.

His luck had run dry as after about ten minutes, he saw a flash of light in the shape of a boar, appear in front of him, then form into a lifelike representation of a boar. To Eli, he knew that it was fake, but even if it was just a combination of ones and zeros, it's ability to kill him was all too real.

    "It's pronounced E-lie, not ellie!"
    About: History/personality

Eli's childhood was not easy, his parents divorced when he was young, and he spent a lot of time moving around from city to city. His father was a deadbeat, and moved between jobs a lot. Due to this he learnt to not get attached to people, which included his parents. As he grew older the relationship between his father dwindled, but he always stuck with his older sister, she was the only member of his family that showed any interest, however his sister moved away when she was old enough and they also grew further apart, leaving Eli alone in the world, so he turned his attention towards video games, the only place he could find some sort of pseudo-family.

When he was old enough, Eli followed the path that his sister did, and moved out, working jobs until he could afford his own little apartment, where he could be alone, away from his father, away from everything, a place where he could be independent.

The news that his father had passed neither shocked nor saddened Eli. The man drunk and smoked constantly as if on a schedule, and their relationship was almost non-existent, it was as if he was a stranger to Eli. Attending his funeral was a formality, the greatest part was probably seeing his sister and remembering that he did in fact have some family that cared about him.

When Eli heard about the legendary game Sword Art Online, he was mesmerised by all of the content that the game promised, moreover, he thought that the artificial world inside the game would provide an escape from his miserable existence, despite this, he could not help but feel like something about the whole situation was of. On the day of the games release, he stood in line for what seemed like an endless amount of hours just to purchase the game. As he sat alone in his room, staring up at the ceiling, he placed what was to become his prison over his head and uttered the words

    "Link Start"

    Virtues:

Discipline: Eli is quite a controlled individual, whether it is in battle or just in general. He has attained a level head, being able to calmly think through situations either before or while they are happening, considering the repercussions, as not to do anything stupid. He fights similarly as well, methodically thinking through every move made during a battle, analysing his opponent and devising a strategy as the fight goes on.

Grace: While Eli may not be the most gracious of conversationalists, he is quite a gracious swordsman, preferring to use a rapier as his main weapon. He picked up the weapon in a previous MMO and instantly fell in love with them. Their lightness and speed are stats that really appeal to Eli. The sword is also quite adaptable, being able to be used in multiple ways such as cutting and slashing, as well as their most well known style of thrusting at their opponent.

Cleanliness: Eli is an insane neat-freak, both in real life and in game. If you take a look at his apartment, everything is sorted neatly on shelves or in draws, he can't stand a messy room, so he is constantly cleaning up his room. In game his bags have their own system, each bag having it's own specific purpose and system for sorting. He also quite likes fighting cleanly, not liking to make a mess of his opponent, also fighting fairly, not taking dirty shots or striking an unknowing opponent,

    Flaws:

Blunt: Eli is a very blunt person, he has little care for how people view his opinions, so he usually just says exactly what is on his mind. This isn't exactly ideal for dealing with people, and many are offended by his often upfront nature.

Withdrawn: Being alone is where Eli feels more comfortable. However, he doesn't despise human interaction, he just prefers to work by himself at his own pace, unaffected by the opinions of others. Eli secretly wants to make friends and have a family, but he doesn't really know how to make friends properly, considering he's never really had any, so he likes to avoid embarrassment. Most people view this however as him being antisocial, and not wanting to interact with anyone, so people tend to avoid him.

Solemn: Only around his sister could Eli ever truly be himself, as everyone else pushed him away because of who he was. Now he is numb to emotion, choosing to be cold, mostly because he is afraid of letting people in, as if they were to suddenly turn around and hurt him just because they could.
