  1. And this was life. No quests in sight, and not [censored] else to do. Noticing the incredibly weak damage of the straight, skinny bladed weapon he was using, Obiltus had thought that maybe he was packing the wrong heat for grinding. There were fighting styles like Curved sword, that utilized multi-target "sword arts", which seemed, atleast to the blonde boy, to be far more effective when it came to grinding. Right? Because more damage to multiple targets meant you could slay an array of monsters easier, producing up to 4x the results with ehalf the effort and time. "Perhaps I will switch weapon styles..." He thought with another swing of the aforementioned blade.

  2. With a day off from questing around with random higher levels on random bits of Floors, Obiltus finally decided it was time to try and do something on his own. Rapier in tow and basic dark blue starter gear equipped, Obiltus headed out of the quiet little inn room he normally had stayed in and out and about. Still without a col to his name, it was high time Obiltus had fixed that little issue he had. The started bread and water was getting extremely tiring, and he especially wanted brand new gear, even if it was just a little better than his current. That being said, the only way he could guess, from virtually no experience playing RPG games in his time of gaming, was the only way to get money was to either wait till night time, which the boy couldn't imagine he'd be majorly successful in that prospect of business given his gender, or, go work for it llike a normal person, and that more than likely mean going to killing things. With that thought in mind, he elected that the lowest floor would more than likely have the weakest units, that of which being boars.

Heading out of the Inn to the fields, Obiltus quickly began scanning the area with haste, almost instantly finding one such creature and approaching it, weapon drawn, ready to get this party started.

  3. Her laugh kind of lightened his tenseness, now made clear to him that her attention was not to mug him. Though thinking on that, the thought was a dumb one. Why would anyone, especially someone with the capability to do so, would select a low level with literally nothing of value, who was standing at a low leveled quest quota, doing nothing but that; standing there. It was such a costly target, and would yield no results Obiltus honest to god had no idea why he even had that thought, if only for but a fleeting moment. That being said, her chuckling and giggling being nearly infectous, and causing the man to be unsure of whether or not it was a good or bad sign.

Regardless of either, he was never one to be rude and shook her hand as she offered it. "Well. Good day to you, Lessa. The User, I believe that I have," He had to look at his Health bar to double check that what it said was the same thing as his Username, not quite used to RPG games, especially not this one in particular "Obiltus." The statement that followed the introductions perplexed him even more, and he blinked a few times unsure. The people here were strange, very much so in the fact that none seem to accept any payment for their services.

"If you insist, but I feel guilty say that. And, uh. I guess I am headed to find a Wasp? I guess? As for being odd, aren't we all a little odd, at the very least, a bit strange?"

  4. The boy stood by himself, amongst the white snow and bustling city about him for a few seconds, his scanning gaze eventually went from one of purpose to the Thousand Mile stare, quickly getting lost in random thoughts throughout the day. He saw people dancing about, both in the literal and metaphorical sense, wondering what the hell it was they were doing. Then his attention would dart to the freezing air, Obiltus would quickly catch himself thinking about it, Shiver, and then try once more to redirect his focus to try his best not to think about it. For a while, his eyes would focus and unfocus, being in a constant scatterbrain thought process at this moment, unsure of what exactly it was he was doing at this moment. And he would have stood there for basically ever, if a random player hadn't trudged up, and startled him out of that state of mind.

With a jump Obiltus was almost instantly refocused back on the original task at hand, but thought it would be rude to start with asking that, and decided to introduce first. "Uh, Hi?" The vlonde couldn't exactly find anythnig else to say, his mind drawing a complete blank for a moment. He sat in silence and then remembered that this strange person had asked a question. "Oh, right. Uh, yea, Kind of. Don't suppose you like killing Ice Creatures for little to no reward?"

  5. She seemingly took the joke well, which was an okay sign, Obiltus supposed. He was right in the fact that she would lead them in the right direction toward the quest goal, though questioned if it was purely by memory, Information Broker giving her a map guide, or if they honest to god just lucked out and followed the right path. Regardless of all that, Obiltus was more than happy to exactly what she said. "Hang back and let a girl take care of a monster for me, can do Ma'am. Very Knightly of you." He did just that, not so much as grabbing the hilt of his rapier and standing directly behind her, "After you, show me what you've got."

  6. "As with many things in life. Knowing the Right people, at the right place, at the right time, very powerful." He smiled, as a joke popped into his head. "Don't suppose my connection with you would produce in results though." His voice came out jokingly, now regretting that, hoping she would take the joke the right way. Quickly passing over the joke, Obiltus continued to try and stay on topic with the build. "Right, all damage? So the statuses you have on your weapon there, they are damage over time ailments? That is rather weird. I want to see how that works out, and I suppose I will today against the uh, Minotaur, right?"

  7. He sat in his  own silence for a second, thinking of a million ways he could probably go about this, the most prominent of which being that he should probably take him and his rapier, go back down to the first floor, and start killing the little shitter boars down there. This would allow the man to gain col, and by extension, use that col to get better accessories and weaponry, and by even more extension make him more qualified for this quest. The conflict with that whole plan; time. Though he had no idea how fast the frontlines progressed as a team, he could only imagine a group of Mid-to-High level players with the best gear to date and organization of that to be matched only by a few other groups would be getting along floor after floor fairly quickly. Again, Obiltus had no actual idea of what it was like up there, and for all he knew, that whole spiel was wrong and they're literally just a mismatch of different players who can't tell their arse's from a hole in the ground, sludging along in the progression.

Though both these scenarios also made another idea of his pop up. He thought about, If they are rushing through floor after floor, killing boss after boss, then why did Obiltus have to worry? If they were so fast, why didn't he just say "ah screw it" and head back down to the first floor, cozy back up in a bed in one of the inns and just lay there until it was all over? Then there was the second conflicting thought Lets say I do my fair share, and pull my own weight, what difference will that make? Any at all? Probably not.

He could go on forever debating this in his own mind, but, much to Obiltus's luck, a voice quickly snapped him out of it, the question instantly returning him all the way back to the current issue at hand. He heistated for a second, scanning the woman who had asked and then the surrounding area, looking back to her. "A little is an understatement. I am more 'turned around' then a fish without eyes. I do need help, but to ask someone, randomly, off the streets of the Third floor would be extremely odd of me. Though if you're offering, that would be very nice, except I have no way of repaying you, so the point is moot."

  8. On another day of waking up in his little inn room down on the first floor, of which was free to most players, given a fair bit of low levels didn't often have the means to support themselves. That being said, Obiltus more than had the mind to head forth and fix his situation, not only so that he had something to do, but so he felt better about himself as a person. His basic equipment and weapons would need an upgrade soon, a thought that also went through his mind every morning, but so far had nothing and no method to fix it, and therefore could, do nothing but kind of sulk to himself about his situation. ALl that being said, with his gear on and an idea in mind, Obiltus quickly headed out the door, through the streets of the Town of Beginnings, and up the teleport gate, as was the same for pretty much every morning. Though the majority of his time so far had been spent on the third floor getting carried through quests by other people, his mind would let him wander to the quest board, right here on this very floor, in search of something to do.

Almost immediately after accepting the quest he had in mind, a notice was sent out, one very similar to Hakai's, in that it was asking for people to tag along for a quest. Within moments, Obiltus began scanning the area, approaching a man with matching hair color who seemed to be the one to send out said notice. Upon their scanning eyes seeing each other, Obiltus put on the friendliest smile he could, walking forward to the man and calling out to him "You put out the notice, right? Mind if I come along?"

  9. "I can imagine running two would be fairly difficult, but at the same time, extremely beneficial. And that's the goal here, climb up and do it quickly with massive rewards and top tiered items." He didn't pay one bit of attention to what they were doing or going, caught completely in the conversation at this moment. It was actually enjoyable to talk to someone for a change, rather than be completely caught in self thoughts and promises. "Status effect? So as it stands you're kind of all around? Bit of Mitigation, Bit of Damage, bit of support in your build? That is rather interesting. Don't think I will be seriously copying it though, Not my taste. The Demonic I am sure helps quite a bit, given that the weapon is better than any craftable, if I am not mistaken. Tell me, how did you get your hands on one of those?"

  10. His smile waned a little at her comment regarding them questing again. It wasn't so much that he mined her as a person or quest venturing companion, it was that fact that he had no interest in this world or the people in it. In Obiltus' mind, most of the people here were the typical Stigma you attach to gamers, one he wasn't presently fond of. While he himself played plenty of his games, they were never on the serious level, atleast, not the seriousness of some. His gaming, while the sittings would last long amounts of time, was nothing more than preoccupational Casual Gaming. That being said; once again, it wasn't anything to do with those kinds of people, not usually giving into dogma and grouping people by association, it was more or less the fact that this was all largely unwanted by Obiltus, and the last thing he wanted was to get friendly with people from here, only to more likely than not, never see them again.

He completely ignored her first comment in terms of response, having rather leave it at that and let her think what she will, and maybe they would continue on doing quests together, though it was unlikely. Instead, he tried to divert his inner tension to her question, more than willing to answer that. "Now, not super game savvy, but I understand most of the logistics. I am planning on running two different builds. One that increases my Luck and overall Loot Income, focused mostly around accessories with a plenty powerful enough weapon to compensate. And the other being a Battle Focus, mainly Focusing my ability to hit the enemy, evade their attacks, and make sure they feel the punch. My personal opinion on stats however, largely Damage based, because as many of the games I have played have taught me; Go Big or Go home. Being in the middle is worthless." Taking a quick glance at her items, he couldn't tell what did what, and let his curiosity get the better of him. "Tell me about your 'Unique' build. Maybe I will copy it," Saying the last bit jokingly, but secretly wondering to himself it was true.

  11. It was a nice change of pace for the day, Obiltus teleporting up to the main settlement on the Fourth Floor this time, rather than the little village on the Third Floor. The man had spent more than enough time doing quests and following people around on that godforsaken Floor. While the company was generally nice and the people he got along well with, Obiltus was one of those who needed a constant change of scenery, simply for the reason that he got bored rather easily. He found himself wondering if the numbers often reflected relation and closeness in Climate and Terrain, given for the most part, the First Three floors hadn't proven to be terribly different, maybe one have some extra trees, and the other, maybe some rugged hills and mountains, but other than that, general same temperature and comfort. To say the least; that theory was crushed almost instantly upon arriving on the Fourth Floor. The Winter-wonderland theme set in pretty quickly for the largely-inexperienced Obiltus, He had heard of the place but assumed they always meant Floor Forty, which the man had only recently found out; wasn't even close to being unlocked yet. Quickly digging through his inventory, Level 1 Obiltus had no way to shield himself from the snow, cursing to himself coming un-prepared to a floor like this.

Attempting to both distract himself from noticing the cold, and move along quickly in order to ward off the dropped tempatures, Obiltus rushed forward, trudging through the know quickly, kicking huge heaps with ever kick back in order to move forward, he searched quickly for the bounty board, finding one of the easier ones there <<Avalance>>, accepting it with haste and then immediately scanning the area for anyone to pretty much do the quest for him.

  12. The returned smile kind of confused him at this point. He wasn't sure if she was going for cold and expressionless or just trying to be friendly, given both are so wildly different, Obiltus had no idea which to go for, hoping it was the latter, at the very least. That all being said, He idly traced the hilt of his rapier with his finger unsure of whatelse to do. He was along for the ride and while the man would be able to maybe to get a hit or two in, they'd do minimal damage. That thought actually popped an idea into his head, one for both small talk and to get some information, which Hakai didn't seem extremely keen on giving much, but maybe she could help. "I can only imagine I won't be much help for this quest, which I apologize for in advanced. However; I would like to remedy that. After a few quests on my own, I'd like to invite you back out to a quest, perhaps with a few more people involved, where I can actually do something useful. You know, after I obtain some gear and some levels?"

  13. He frowned at her very flat introduction and seeming uninterest in the boy and anything he had to do with. All he could do was stare blankly and somewhat emptily at the to the side of them, unsure of how else to proceed. Follow Hakai out of the city, Obiltus was worried that he already left a bad impression, but quickly shook the thought, remembering he more than likely was never going to see this woman and again, as was the hope. Listening to her statement he nodded a bit too himself, having heard different variations of that same sentence over and over again throughout his life. Though the last bit stuck out to him immensely, holding on to what she said "Words are just as powerful". Sure, he knew that worked in the real world, but never paid any mind to little proverbs like that, or didn't, until he realized that maybe he wasn't exactly on par with everyone else in this world when it came to the use of the sword. However; if there was anything he'd have a shot on equal footing with the masses in this place with, that would be his practice and usage of voice. Keeping that in mind, he slightly thanked the girl, responding to her with his grin that had disappeared during his entire internal spout. "Right, thanks for the advice. Will keep that in mind, but I don't suppose you could tell me about the quest we're on about?"

  14. Obiltus meandered his way through the town, intentionally taking his sweet time, doing so as a sort of ploy to see how quick his new "Quest Buddy" would be to anger. If extremely quick, the young adult would make a quick note to use and abuse that, getting on their nerves as often as possible. If near impossible to anger, than this person would not be worth conversing with, not willing to deal with those who were unwilling to take anything seriously. The goal was to find out of this person was somewhere in between, and perhaps they'd converse again, though in Obiltus' mind, hopefully not. It's not that the man had anything against people overall, it was the fact that he had no intention of forging meaningful friendships in this realm, viewing the great lot of them as nothing more than anti-social nerds and introverts, who wanted nothing more than to be in this game. You know, the kind of people who fantasize about this kind of thing, for whatever reason.

Despite his slow stroll through the streets of the town on this god-forsaken floor that he had already been on twice, Obiltus still managed to show up at a rather punctual time, his calm and cool expression with nothing more than a friendly grin resting upon his face, approaching the girl whom he assumed he would be accompanying, getting straight to the point. "Obiltus, is the user. Means forgotten in Latin, which is about the only skill that I have that transfers into this game. Can't say I follow the whole "train swordfighting" thing, never thought I'd need it..." Those these words were spoken outloud, his tone went from an introduction to sounding more like they were to himself rather than her.

  15. Another trip to the Third Floor for yet another quest, Obiltus got the feeling that he'd be here on this floor quite a bit, and better get to liking it. Not that he seemed to mind, given the floor seemed largely uninhabited with the exception of "Tourists". And by Tourists, Obiltus of course referred to those who came and went according to their quest needs, whether be accepting one, helping with one, or declining one, just the same exact reason he was there for. Which was nice, a like-mindedness of the world meant order, and most of all, a general sense of safety. Obiltus had wanted nothing more than to atleast gain a tiny bit of strength, again, not by any means to be "the best" but simply to be looked at, and atleast semi feared. That's the mind set he went into every game with, to atleast have semi-decent stats so that those on his same level would think he is either a formidable foe, or someone not to be trifled with. One of the many reasons Obiltus didn't aim higher was simply because he believed Overambition was deadly, look at the like of Julius Caesar or Napoleon. He was willing to venture that there had been a few deaths to the likes of overachieving and weak-willed grabs for power, though his history on the subject of Aincrad was shaky at best, and had no idea for sure, only a passing guess.

So, his rapier in tow and the mindset of "get [censored] done" echoing in his mind, Obiltus set out to accept another quest, this one proving to be relatively easy and produce atleast a moderate award, setting him on his path to success, to atleast be recognized by a small group of people, if not a large group. Upon accepting the quest <<Worn Out Welcome>> the young adult turned and began scanning the crowd for an ally in this venture.

  16. Obiltus made his way to the Third Floor, in search for quests, hoping only to not be so god-damned weak anymore. It was a long story, his time here in Aincrad so far, one that we won't go into terrible detail of, but atleast touch the subject. To summarize; It was one of boredom, from his usual busy life in the world outside, and one that he wasn't particularly fond of. The Young adult had no such dreams or wishes to live in the world of a Game, having only played them as a hobby, and mostly focusing on games of the likes of the old MOBAs. RPGs were new to him, especially the concept of VR, but, with his birthday having come near the day of the release, Obiltus couldn't resist the desire to beg and plead for one from his parents. Little did he know, he'd get caught up in this extreme mess, one he wanted nothing to do with. It wasn't fear he felt like many, it was mostly a sort of mundane attitude, one that spelled of "Why this [censored] right now, and why me?" of course being a rhetorical question. Obiltus knew that it wasn't necessarily directed at him, nothing of this sort ever was, as sometimes the more egocentric people like to think. Nonetheless, it had happened, not only to him, but to many. While Obiltus hadn't exactly played Video Games on the Hardcore level and rarely sought an ambitious feat like "Being the Strongest", seeing that as extremely bland and mainstream, he certainly didn't want to get grouped with the little pub shitters that couldn't hold their own.

So, with all that being said, he ventured to the Third Floor of Aincrad, having head immensely about a relatively easy quest that produced fairly high rewards as a first action to take. With his default clothing and rapier equipped, the yellow-haired boy ventured up to that level from his quiet little spot on the first floor, having reached there in literally, no time at all, given the usefulness of the Teleportation Gates. As Obiltus approached the just-now-mentioned Quest Quota, he realized that maybe Fifty Hp might have been a bit out of his price range, and was largely unsure of how he was going to proceed, stopping to quietly think to himself how he would go about this, or if he should give up now.

  17. Profile
    Username: Obiltus
    Real name: Is this Important?
    Age: 19
    Gender: M
    Height: 5"11

    About: History/personality

Obiltus had a generally peaceful and quiet life. He grew up in a relatively normal home, an only child. Like most teenagers and adolescents over the last forty or so years, he developed a moderate interest in Video games, while still maintaining a normal social life. He made plenty of time for normal social activities, such as outings with friends and School Clubs and whatnot, but always made an effort to set aside a few hours deep in the night to fire up his computer and play games, honing his skill. (Will add more, doing minimum for now)

    Virtues:

Joyous - Having little tradegy in his life Obiltus has a slightly upright outlook on life. His generally joyful and upbeat demeanor stems from a lifetime of little sadness and a fair bit of satisfaction and happiness. Obiltus has developed a sort of brighter feel and view on the world and it's ongoings, often times showing this through his attitude and mood. This being said, he has little room for sulking and little experience in doing so.

Quick-Witted - Being regarded as Intelligent and told as such pretty much his whole life, and not by virtue of motivation. Obiltus was often regarded as such because of his sharp tongue, and ability to take in, process and respond to information and situations quickly. He would often use this to insult people and what not, but that's irrelevant to the fact.

Decisive - Having very little extra time in his day, already losing quite a bit of sleep in his busy schedule, Obiltus developed a sort of Decisiveness. Given that being weak-willed and indecisive would often take up time of his day, Obiltus couldn't afford that, and when he makes a decision, sticks to it. This, paired with his quick wit can often times come off as bossy, which is entirely unintentional.

    Flaws:

Grandiose - When it comes to Crowds, big and small, Obiltus makes an effort to be the center of Attention. Sometimes going as far as to make loud noises and pull eyes toward him in order to show something off, whether it be skills he may or may not have.  Often times this composes most of his thoughts, especially in the midsts of large groups of people, and can draw him away from a task at hand simply to get the attention of those around him.

Vindictive - Eye for an Eye, one of Obiltus' inner rules. He is often spiteful in his actions, and so much as a passing comment that he might take minor offense to is enough to spark this trait. He will make sure that "dues are paid" when it comes to those who have done him even a slight bit of wrong. Though, depending on his mood, this can often be taken too far, making Radical actions and thoughts for even the tiniest little insult.

Lack of Empathy - Having never suffered tragedy in his life, Obiltus lacks Empathy, to put it simply. Having known no pain in his life Obiltus has the inability to understand anyone else's struggles, lacking the want or need to "put himself in another's shoes."  He cannot and is unwilling to understand the strife of others, and often times simply ignores or walks away from those who are going through emotional or physical pain, simply to let them be.
