Kaen

When Kaen hears this his eyes light up with excitement. Finally he might have a shot at being in a party with actual veteran players. He begins to explain his situation of how he’s looking to potentially join a party of experienced players and someone to show him the ropes and the best way to actually survive. He tell how he wants to be more then just another one of the players locked away in a room too afraid to leave and how he wants to contribute rather then be just another useless player who is waiting to be rescued. 

With all his explamation being over he looks at the masked player not knowing if what he said made any impression and kept his interest in the slightest. His nerves start kicking in as he looks at the plague doctor with a serious expression, determined not to back down as he bows his head and asks “Could you please be my teacher and allow me to join your party?”

After losing track of so much time since this death game started, Kaen finally built up enough courage to try to leave the town of begining. He grabbed and equipped all the gear he had just acquired and was about to set out when he realized he’s only level one. Thinking further on the subject he concluded that leaving on his own would essentially be suicide. To remedy this he chose to search through the town of begining for any seasoned players who’d willingly allow him to join their party. 

After days of trying and being rejected Kaen began to give up on hope of any potential party. Head held low, he walked through the main square where he usually found other players getting ready to set out for one last try at finding someone, anyone at this point. While doing his normal scan of the plaza he saw someone, garbed in a plague doctors uniforms, looking at the request board appearing to be waiting for the rest of his team. Without any hesitation Kaen jogged over thinking that this could be his chance to finally be able to become part of a party. 

Finally reaching the request board Kaen wasted no time and began to try to interact with this plague doctor. “Excuse me. My names Kaen. By any chance could I have a couple minutes of your time?”

Kaen has, for as long as he could remember, always been a bit of a gaming otaku. Even with school and his part time job, as a vet technician, he always manages to squeeze a couple hours of gaming into his daily life. No matter what kind of game it may be he always had some sort of knowledge on the game, be it trivial or insightful on the actual plot or gameplay.

Kaen’s gaming habits were actually quite mild in the sense of the money he spent on them for all but one genre, fantasy rpgs. He absolutely adores everything about them, from the medieval settings to the very mobs who lived in the worlds. The moment he heard about SAO he drooled at his chance to actually live in that world that he immediately bought himself a NerveGear in order to be able to control his avatar as best as possible for when the game dropped. When he entered the game to find he couldn’t leave the only thing he could do was think of what he couldn’t get back to in the real world.

For the first weeks of being trapped all he could think of was his family and his job. Kaen was training to be a veterinarian ever since his childhood pet, a grey haired Siberian husky named Gin, passed away due to a rare disease for the breed. Coming from a lower middle class family he found school to be quite expensive so he always had a few part time jobs to not only earn for his school fees but also his games. He thought of the worry of his mom and dad he currently lived with when they found him and the stress they would be in for however long he would be trapped.
 

The next thoughts that came to him were that of his college. He thought of how much time he’d already spent studying and how hard he worked to get to the top of his class. He thought of the friends he made and the times they all spent playing MMOs with one another. His only grace to that is he knew none of them were trapped in this death game with him.

When he finally came to grips with the reality he was now stuck in he knew that he had only one thing to do, he had to survive and get back to the real world. He gathered himself and started moving forward to try and make his way through this world, slowly he prepared himself to finally leave the town of beginnings.

Virtues:

Kind: Kaen is and has always been a kind hearted person especially to animals. He naturally wants to help people and animals to get through their hard moments. His kindness has lead to strong friendships regardless of distances and the fostering and adoption of many stray or abandoned pets.

Honest: Kaen always saw lies to be something of a burden to where whenever he told one he could not hold a poker face or keep the truth hidden for long. This led to some awkward situations for a time but eventually turned out to work for the best. Due to this honesty he ended up being a respected class representative throughout his middle and high school career.

Loyal: Throughout his life Kaen has always been around all sorts of animals most of which he had found wandering the streets. For all the animals he found he’s done nothing but stand by and cared for each and every one of them regardless of the trouble he was in or injury he received to protect and find good homes for them. Though not as much of a people person as he is an animal lover he still does what he can to stand by his friends and to protect and help them in their times of need.

Flaws:

Too Trusting: Due to Kaen”s nature he has a hard time seeing the bad in those around him, which has lead him down many misfortunate relationships. Due to the overabundance of trust he has for those he considers friends he’s had many of whom take advantage of him and manipulated him. Most common things that were to happen where people borrowing his belongings never to return them, being treated poorly on a constant basis never to do anything about it, and finding that those he trusted to look after his pets while he was away to find ether his pet or his house dirty and not well taken care of.

Too Analytical: For being as naive in his sense of people Kaen over analyzes a all other aspects of his life to an unhealthy level. Be it as simple as his appearance to something as major as his place of employment. This has lead to him losing out on great opportunities from promotions to many a chance with past girlfriend.

Greed: For all the good Kaen does his worst setback is his greed, specifically for money and the things that will get him ahead. This greed was lead on by his family being of the lower middle class so he had to help out and work part time to support not only his gaming habits but also his constant desire to help the animals he picked up.
