    About: History/personality

    Personality

Lancer is very ambitious, stubborn and determined. He refuses to give up in difficult situations and he is also very head strong. He is well known for his undying and furious fighting spirit. He especially enjoys to fight against strong opponents. However rash he gets though, he is extremely loyal to his companions, especially Vivian who he's traveling with. Even though he would rather go all out when fighting a foe with little focus on defense, when someone needs protecting, which is often with Vivian, he is completely willing to use a defensive style and take all of the damage. During battle with a strong foe, although he gets excited, he's surprisingly calm yet intense.

Agnis tends to be a carefree person and likes to speak the truth about everything. He is at times quite rude and insulting, especially if he doesn’t like the person. He is a very outspoken person, frequently saying whatever’s on his mind or voicing his beliefs despite how the other party may react and without any regard to social status.

He is not afraid to take risks and only looks onward, which seems to be his motto. He’s very hearty and loves the taste of a battle, always the first to charge into the fray and the last one to leave, showing a ferocity akin to a Dragon’s the entire time and changing the tide of any battle. On the battlefield, he is also a very adept and fearless leader, the threat of death not even being able to scare him which has encouraged his allies.

He can be a reckless person, but he also looks out for his comrades when in battle. He is shown to be especially protective of his friends and the people he cares about, becoming angry when they get hurt by someone else. Despite this, he is able to keep a cool enough head to analyze the situation and react accordingly as he hates to lose those close to him.

Minato's other side, nicknamed Kuro, is the complete opposite in personality. (And in hair style) Or rather, if Shiro had almost no visible personality, Kuro is full of it. He is loud and energetic sometimes to the point of aggressiveness. Kuro is fierce and enjoys combating a worthy opponent, but at his core he believes in justice and is easy to get along with. He is an agreeable youth with a playful attitude and takes a very carefree approach to life, but is quick to get aggressive towards an enemy. He easily volunteers himself to help with others' problems and will help them to the end. Like his other half, he cares for those around him and will more often than not prioritize them over his own safety. Unlike his other self, he is much easier to get worked up due to his pride and if it weren't for Shiro holding him back, (mentally) he'd be picking a fight with anybody who insulted him. The main difference between these two personalities is their view on life. While Shiro doesn't care, Kuro feels like you should live life as best you can.

    History

Despite being only half Japanese, the other half being Irish, Ryan Takebayashi lived a relatively normal life in Japan though he admittedly didn't have many friends for the first half of his life. This was for two reasons. The first reason being that he had to move a lot, making it harder to form concrete social connections. The other being that whenever he saw a situation that needed to be diffused or when somebody needed help, it usually backfired on him due to the parties in question either being in denial to what he said or that he unintentionally tried to breach a situation he had no place being involved in. It was only when he finally got to stick to one school for his high school years did he "begin to live". After helping a saxaphonist help his friend by conducting his playing, Ryan had been invited to join the school band despite lacking any musical knowledge. While his ability to read sheet music would progress in due time, it was because of his natural ability to lead the musicians through the music (and for some, their personal problems) that had cemented his place in the group.

After graduating high school, he had strived to become a professional conductor/music teacher which eventually led him to study abroad

    Virtues:

Fearless: Both of them, for their own reasons, won't cower away in the corner and will fight at the front lines with ease. Because of this, they won't hesitate and are able to keep going despite the situation. This also allows them to inspire courage into others, though people may just be pissed off in Shiro's case, when they show that the enemy can be defeated.

Leadership: The two personalities also have their own ways of being leaders. Shiro is calculative and is able to lead through tactical support while Kuro is more suited to be the emotional core of a team. Since the two personalities can switch almost at will, they can go from tactical to emotional support though Kuro is usually the dominant personality on the battlefield, making it less likely for tactics to come from Minato.

Adaptive: As they say, two heads are better than one. Well, technically they're still one head but having two different people in terms of personality and style helps when you need to change things up. Depending on the situation, the two of them will switch places almost instantaneously to fit the situation. In general, they show the ability to change their plans at a moment's notice in order to accomplish their goals.

Compassionate: Though the two personalities have varying degrees of showing it, Minato is deep down a kind person who is always willing to help those around him.

    Flaws:

Reckless: Though brave, his lack of self preservation at times gets him into trouble. While he's smart enough to back away or retreat when required. it's a different story when somebody else is in danger. Minato would then put his life on the line to save that person.

Blunt: Even before the accident, Minato tended to say what was on his mind, regardless of the other's feelings. This problem still persists to some extent growing up. You just had a choice between getting it in an indifferent tone and a rowdy tone.

Conflicting: While having two personalities can have it's benefits, it also has it's downsides. Especially when there's mental arguments all the time between the said personalities. They manage to minimize arguing during to prevent getting killed, it does cause trouble when they start arguing during social interactions, making Minato appear odd at time.

    About: History/personality

    Personality

Minato has two different personalities, giving him a Jekyll and Hyde sort of feel except the aggressive one isn't a murderer. While they share memories and emotions, the personalities act like different people and even converse with each other.

Minato's dominant personality, also nicknamed Shiro, is the one typically used in everyday life and conversations and is the one most people associate as "Normal Minato". This side of him is blunt, stoic, reserved, and calm, almost to the point of indifference. He has extremely neutral viewpoints on life and death and is uncaring of either. Because of his unnerving lack of interest and motivation, he often acts only when told to do so and takes on tasks with little, if any sense of self-preservation. Underneath this shell is a hidden kind side which is shown through how he cares for people even though he lacks the same amount of care towards himself. While still appearing indifferent, it's plain to see that he enjoys the companionship of others. This is proven by how his stony attitude instantly starts falling apart when those around him are in danger as it reminds him of what happened in the past.

History

Minato grew up as a normal child in a normal family. They weren't rich but it's not like they were poor. All in all, he lived a content life, spending time with friends, dealing with school, along with other little surprises and challenges that came with childhood. Unfortunately, these happy days ended when he was in middle school. He and his family had decided to go on a road trip and while they were on the road, tragedy had struck. A drunk driver had crashed into their car, Minato's mother barely pushing him out of the car in time. In a matter of minutes, he had lost his family to the flames. By some miracle, he had only suffered minor injuries but the scars in his heart were far more severe. Seeing his parents die right before his eyes had made him close his heart to the world and he began to appear half dead at all times. Even to those in the orphanage he was sent to he had only opened up a little. He couldn't even show a true smile.

One day though when he saw one of the local delinquents kick around one of the kids at the orphanage, something inside him snapped. He began hearing a voice from within him and before he knew it, he had begun charging in with a look of anger. To Minato, it was as if somebody else was controlling the body, somebody who showed much more emotion than he. As time passed, this situation happened again and again, where Minato began acting differently and with emotion at random times. A visit to the psychologist revealed that it was because all of Minato's repressed emotions had in a way become it's own personality. The younger kids in the orphanage had taken to giving the two personalities their own names, further giving each of them a sense of identity.

While the two enjoyed the same food, their tastes in things like music and hobbies had varied. Shiro for example preferred to read while Kuro would rather game. It was Kuro's interest in gaming that got them a nerve gear after they had saved up enough money. (though admittedly Shiro was interested in the device as well) And Kuro was also the reason they got stuck in SAO since he made Minato wait in line for the game and log in as soon as they got home.
