  1. Let me clarify I'm sorry. The Guild war thing was one part you see I planned for a guild to rise up and turn dictator and it falls to the players to bring them down. As for other ideas I'll consider them. Responses?

EDIT: OH and before I make a mistake I should correct something I want the first arch to be done by floor 20!

Ah, see, that I can get behind. Kind of like how the Army was in the actual SAO series? They kinda had a communistic vibe to them since they expected everything to be distributed equally, and based off how that general reacted when Klien was telling him to screw himself about the mapping data from Kirito, he got all uppity like he was entitled to it. Basically a "Share what you have, or else!" feeling, y'know?

I digress, that sounds much more interesting. How would they go about exercising their oppressive ways? Camping a floor, or town or something and demanding outrageous Col compensation for usage of public roads, executing players that don't play by their rules, blockading a popular town which has all the basic necessities of the floor to only a particular group of people (ie their own guild, a particular race, or specific gender?) and all that kind of stuff?

  2. Okay, a guild war could be pretty interesting, however I don't see how it would tie into everyone. Just some criticism, but as a guildless player, how would I, or any other guildless player for that matter part take in it? Or rather, why would we risk getting involved in it instead of letting the guilds solve it themselves and potentially knock themselves out in the process? Not a bad idea, but just injecting a bit of my thought process into it.

I'm more than willing to throw out random ideas for shiggles and you can consider them or deny them at your leisure. Firstly, the "Horror of Floor 80" idea which you can shape around to floor 20 perfectly fine. Info brokers get word of rumors of players who beat 19th floor boss not coming back, nobody hears from them. Floor 20 has some kind of unknown secret or catch to it that players have to figure out and heed at ALL times while on that floor which you can make up. Idk, like, you must always at ALL times have a light source on your person on floor 20 or else XYZ which is an immortal environment mob will get you in a couple of hits or something. Merely meant as a fun little obstacle.

A high level player killer (it can be made into an event character that's like the highest reachable level out of the pool of players we actually have at current) has been going around killing people indiscriminately and has been making a serious effort to hide himself. For fear of being targeted next, X amount of players group up to track him down and take him out. A GM could play this character for the sake of the arch.

Environmental Cataclysm arch where a certain floor which is home to a well known, notable landmark which holds a sigil of some kind had said sigil stolen by a newly integrated miniboss. The entire floor has been subject to volatile and dangerous changes like tsunamis, landscape altering earthquakes, volcanoes, rampant mobs in response to the sudden and frequent changes. Arch focused around returning the sigil to the landmark to restore the order of that floor. Floor is important because it holds something, like, a frequented main town which is needed for whatever reason, thus the motive for saving it.

System glitch arch info brokers get new info on a possible way out of SAO! Everyone figures it a hoax and disregards it except X people (cue all the players here). They go to the location where they find a tear in the game, which is likely a fabrication of the glitch. (think of it as a new, random and non-dev made dungeon) Super trippy stuff happens, hallucinations, mobs, etc, etc. In the end turns out it was indeed bullshit (or maybe not...if you're feeling generous, it could be a reward or something that a player actually DOES manage to get out, though idk, it'd kinda be the same as PKing the character since they wouldn't be able to use it again...)

Just some ideas. Some may be crap, some may be good. I dunno, you decide.

  3. Why not fist weapons? You know, brass knuckles, Bagh nakas, Deer Horn Knives, etc. (Here's a list of a bunch of them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_premodern_combat_weapons) Why aren't these an option? I mean, martial arts is, so could fist weapons be used in conjunction with them since its still technically relying on the hands? If not, then could it be a separate weapon skill set? Doesn't hurt to have it as an avenue and it's not on the list from what I've seen. Thoughts?

  4. What would even be an option of a "central plot" if not the pre-established one of SAO which is "escaping the game alive"? Perhaps a bit of clarification or some raw ideas would be a good idea to accompany the poll. Though overall, I think it would be helpful to motivation, but at the same time, how would we get closer with advancing this plot? Would it be GM made event threads or Individuals being able to take it upon themselves for the sake of this one plot?

Also, would it just be one core event that everyone chips into reaching? I could see this being implemented better if it were separated into archs. By that, I mean that there are more than one central plot. So one arch could be, for example, something called: The Horror of Floor 80. In that arch, it would be focused on some massive rumor of floor 80 which spread due to info brokers shortly after the defeating of the 79th floor boss about front liners going there and never being heard from again. In that arch, players would work on whatever the objective being and once that would be completed, a new arch would be started at some point in the future. Would it be something more like that?

To be honest, I find various archs to be more attractive than one grand, long term plot. I find it more rewarding that way and even an opportunity for some interesting RP. I like this idea, just needs a bit more clarification.

  5. You tell me. Someone explain, and Alciel- "Rule 37 of the internet- There are no girls on the internet."

    Just kidding. I'm a girl.

Only applies to the deep internet. Thankfully, this is not that or this would be a much, much darker place.

*cough* Reddit, 4chan, various other forums which shall not be named *cough*

Within no time at all, the count down for their soon to be match loomed forebodingly overhead, silently counting down for the moment in which the two would clash. She had to admit, she was rather nervous at how this would turn out, but it was far too late in the game to turn back now. Sliding her gaze over to Cinder, she saw him as collected as ever, having not moved an inch other than placing his hand in his pockets which she found rather curious. If he was a hand to hand fighter, wouldn't he be taking a stance of some kind in preparation? Did he think this would be an easy victory? Or for that matter, she was working off the assumption that it was martial arts which he used and if so, then there'd be no need to do so as his weapons would be his hands...right? Unless, of course, his arsenal included fist weapons which was not outside of the realm of possibility, though regardless, the same result would have been true. She couldn't afford to let him get too close or she'd be in a bind.

As the count down reached forty, she spotted an impish smirk split his face whilst staring at her which caused one of her eyebrows to raise in curiosity. What was so funny? She hadn't done anything to receive any such reaction, she didn't think anyway. As the countdown shrank to thirty, he seemed to completely space out as if showing his blatant disinterest in what was going on which she found mildly upsetting. She would just have to make him interested. As the timer reached ten, the numbers seemed to move even slower as anticipation riddled tension seared through her limbs and her expression to grow much more targeted; quietly twirling her spear in her left hand before tossing it over to her dominant right and holding it firmly in toe.

    Duel!

The text appeared in no time and she inched her way in a hemisphere like path around him before taking flight in his direction with her «Sprint» morphing her feet into figurative gusts of wind to close the distance between them. She took the liberty of striking first! Tightening her grip on the spear shaft she lunged forward sharply, though just as she did, a coy gleam crept its way into her eyes before she broke its path in a deliberate feint. Though she may have looked it, a fool was something she was never in the best of times. The feint aimed at getting him to show a bit about himself for her to read, she quietly moved to skirt to his left and jab the tip of her spear towards the mans legs as if to take out his means of movement! However, just as before, she withdrew the attack as it neared its mark in order to get him to show a bit of abilities before quickly attempting to fall back in a hefty leap using her «Acrobatics».

He could tell instantly that surprised exasperation was written all over her opponent once the question had left her lips. It was to be expected after all as generally those who get involved with these kinds of activities -- these, games -- tend to know how they function, though one could say she was the exception that failed to prove the rule. Being as she'd never truthfully played anything outside of the run of the mill stock computer games like snake, solitaire or minesweeper in between real world activities out of mere boredom. Though since her having been trapped in Sword Art Online, she'd found that she had a decent enough affinity for this kind of thing and truthfully, it made her wonder why she'd never gotten more into these kind of activities. Once the man had recovered from his initial incredulity, she could even feel his brazenly frank gaze burning into her like that of a searing white brand to the back of her neck, though his tone seemed collectively candid whilst asking her name. For a moment, she couldn't help but wonder why it mattered until she realized that he needed it to send her the duel request once he had pulled up the User Interface which flared its usual neutral incandescent glow.

"Alo-" she broke off for a moment as she nearly uttered her actual name, still not used to the habit of referring to herself as her virtual identification. "..Err, I mean Alciel!" correcting herself, she watched as the option for the duel popped up before her, lighting her features as she stared down at her challengers name: Cinder. Repeating it in her head made her bite on her lower lip as her envy momentarily got the better of her, muttering under her breath. "Aw man, he even has a cool name to boot...talk about unfair..."

Pushing these feelings aside with a sigh as she dipped her head, she quickly re-lifted it causing her hair to jerk up sharply as if reluctant to travel in the same direction before pointedly dropping back down. A simple movement which may have seemed pointless, though it was obvious that the fire of determination smoldered in her irises but above all, she would enjoy herself -- even if at someone else's expense...she's just have to properly apologize afterwards, she supposed. She quietly drew her spear as it made a subtle hissing noise until the sharpened ironclad tip was visible and glimmering in the light before she finally pressed at the accept button to initiate the match.

Surprisingly enough, even for her, everything was going smoothly; according to plan, even -- if she had a plan to begin with, of course. One could hardly call chucking feigned hostilities at strangers while slinging to the sliver of hope that they'd duel you out of annoyance a plan, but it was as best she could come up with on such short notice. She felt the Hawaiian insult may have been pushing it, even if it was comparatively tame compared to the array of others at her disposal but to her jubilation, he received it as she had hoped. She did her best to maintain her rather poorly executed brooding as she stared into the mans eyes, though it was growing increasingly challenging as the proud accomplishment which she felt at actually succeeding with her half baked plan stewed within her chest in a broth of hot blooded anticipation and wishful sportsmanship. She had done it and now she was actually going to try this PvP thing out for herself, though she wasn't too sure of the outcome. It wasn't long, however, before what the man had said finally sank in, having called her a "little girl".

While it was true that she had started this confrontation, this did actually irk her, causing her eyes to narrow slightly as she placed her hands on her hips audaciously, "Rude! I'll have you know that I am seventeen!" Swiping her hand down in midair, she summoned forth the familiar translucent interface which came stock with SAO. Now she had to start this duel...erm...somehow. It was only then that it occurred to her that she didn't even know how to initiate a duel to begin with...and for this, she cursed her technological inexperience! Her passion suddenly simmering down, she frowned with a rather dramatically disheartened expression before turning to her would be enemy. "Uhh....hehehehe, sorry to bother you but, uh, how do you start one of these things?" She could already feel the crimson flushing her cheeks from the embarrassment of, once again, successfully making a fool out of herself when things were going well!

Seemingly almost as soon as the fires of determination were rekindled in the pits of her belly, boiling up to the point of her imagining steam blowing out of her ears, she heard a set of matching footsteps followed by a well toned masculine voice which laughed before speaking. Her shoulders twitched upwards slightly as she perked with surprise, craning her neck to face the individual addressing her with mildly widened eyes; a dead give away of her astonishment. As her magenta eyes fell on the man from her admittedly pointed side glance, she briefly sized him up. This man was older than her, that much was obvious, though if she had to guess, it wouldn't have been by much -- possibly in the end of his teens to early twenties, even? His fur lined jacked seemed slightly out of place given the season, and she spotted no sign of him being armed what so ever -- perhaps he was one of those people she heard that focused on hand to hand? Though she figured it kind of defeated the purpose of the game being called Sword Art Online even if she had no room to talk as a spear user. Her own weapon, a scarcely used beginners One-Handed Spear clung to her back, fastened in place by a braided yarn sling. Though she made no effort to make it readily available as they were in what she'd come to learn was a "safe zone".

From the mans speech, she wasn't too sure if he was lecturing her, mocking her, or just making idle conversation. Given the sportively roguish sneer which snaked its way between his cheeks, it could have been a combination of all three. Nevertheless, her mind soon flitted back to her initial reason for coming out here seeking someone else in the first place; PvP! And this was a stellar, nay, a pristine opportunity in which to set her plans in motion! She had no idea how she would pull this off, but she always was the type to wing her endeavors anyhow.

Rounding on the man with half hearted hostility, she furrowed her brow, narrowed her eyes and attempted to look as angry as her petite, mocha complexion would allow her. Truth be told, the forced, insincere expression probably looked more like a ridiculous countenance more than anything which would probably make it difficult for her addressee to take her seriously; and rightfully so.

"What're you trying to say, huh? You looking for a fight, tough guy? Huh?!" she huffed before faltering for a moment due to a gap in consideration of what to do next before deciding to to fill in the gap with something in another language that would seem offensive...probably. "Po'o 'olohaka!"

  10. She could feel everything, every conceivable emotion boiling up to the surface of her skin -- her anger, her frustration, her confusion, her despair, even her pseudo affection for this person all bubbling and condensing into bitter liquid animosity before pouring over on to her cheeks. To her, they seemed to steam up and even slightly sting her tender sorrow reddened cheeks as she watched him walk away as if it all meant nothing. Though in the midst of her woe, what she had said must have struck some form of nerve as Kirito turned about almost in a stagger before dropping to his knees, his exposed fingers digging into the coarse dirt as they gathered in his fists, whispering something to himself.

From their distance, she couldn't really make it out, but the action in of itself was enough to take her by surprise; though not nearly enough to clear her mind nor dry her misty eyes. All she could manage was striding up after him, half blinded by her tears as she stopped just short of looming over him.

"...Why...?" was all that seemed to hover off her lips as she stared down at the kneels ebon individual with a longing for a reason...or some rationale that could make it all fit into place. For as she was, she felt as though she were treading in a grove of thick, shadowed capriciousness that all but muted those which were unfortunate enough to be caught in its eerily honed fronds.

  11. Brisk, aloof and topped off with a hint of rudeness -- all the things that came to mind as she watched him walk off with a look of confusion, her mouth slightly agape due to her loss for words. What had she even done to bring about this reaction. True, maybe her sudden spacing between them and usage of her skill to ensure it may have been a bit uncalled for, even for her given all he had said about "wanting to get everyone out of this game", but to be so cold after they had been so friendly prior to this. It'd have been a lie if she said it didn't bother her in the slightest; in fact, it actually ate at her quite a bit. Though despite all these things that seemed to zip through her head like a gelatinous blob, she could do nothing to vocalize her worries other than clumsily spewing a single sentence, her voice shaking feebly as if it were breaking. She could feel her nose heating up at the tip as her eyes began to glaze over with the unsteady glimmer of liquid.

"So...I, uh...haha...I guess that picnic is out of the question, huh..?" she called as she felt hot tears rolling down her cheeks, though she let out not a single sob or sniffle to accompany them -- simply staring on after him as she let out her emotional vulnerability tear its way to the surface of her being in silence.

  12. The difference in this person whom she had meant was uncanny in a rather unpleasant way and truth be told, it caused a tremor in her heart which bordered the lines of something she hadn't yet known to feel since entering this virtual prison; fear. Staring into his lackluster black eyes as his hand neared her with an unfamiliar expression, every hair on the back of her neck seemed as if it stood on end and sirens spun off like mad inside of her head yowling for her to back up from his grip and her body seemed to moved before she herself even really realized it. Utilizing the passive function of her «Acrobatics» skill, she did her best to hop backwards from his grip and scoot behind the safety of the fencing on which she had been sitting prior, her brow only furrowed further and her tone rather uncharacteristically biting.

"What the hell was that about? You could just ask for it, you know!" she seethed, still taken adrift in her spontaneous emotions before taking the moment to catch herself, closing her eyes and take a brief inhalation of tranquility. Reopening them, her magenta eyes softened slightly as her voice seemed to dot with traces of worry in place of the shock encrusted exasperation of before. "How about you tell me what's wrong? This isn't anything how you were when I last saw you... You seem, I don't know, distant all of a sudden. Like you hate my guts out of nowhere." Tipping her head to one side as if accenting her forthcoming question, she began to slowly remove the coat with stiff, cautious movements. "Did I do something wrong that I don't know about or something? Is it about the coat? If it is, I meant to give it back to you but I couldn't find you after we finished that quest...I didn't plan on keeping it or anything."

Taking the coat off, she pressed it flat against itself before folding it in place neatly as if being freshly purchased before finally standing to face him with an expectant expression, flicking with mixtures of hurt, uncertainty and befuddlement. She honestly had know clue what could have sparked this...change, but she did know that she didn't like it.
