  1. Great... not only did my friend talk me into trying a video game for the first time.... now I am stuck in it too!?

Salara was lost in thought as the sky faded from red back to normal after the opening announcement in the Town of Beginnings. She was snapped out of her thoughts by the panicked screams of everyone around her, and while she desired to panic alongside them, she just moved out of the way of everybody that was trying to run past or over her. Once she had a clear space to do so, the blonde turned around and began to make her way to one of the shops she saw along the way. She looked around to see if her friend had followed her, but just as soon as everyone had been summoned to the square for an announcement, so also everybody had vanished as they ran every direction to scrounge up what they could to survive in this game. She did not simply want to survive. If anything she wanted to live, but at the same time she wanted nothing more than to disappear from view never to be seen or heard from until the moment was right.

The female believed her friend was alright, or at least she wanted to believe that. She scrolled down her friends list to send her a message and ask where she was, but right as soon as she was about to begin the message, the name of her friend disappeared from her list. W...what just happened? she thought to herself as she sat down in the tavern and ordered a drink.  She spoke aloud as she waited for her drink, "Unlike my friend, I did not do the tutorial yet. Before I set out, I probably should work my way through that..." she glanced back over her shoulder as she heard another patron enter the tavern, but resumed her staring at absolutely nothing on the bar as she remained to herself. She knew she should probably be mourning her friend, but knew enough about her that she would not want that. After drinking and slipping the bartender some extra col for the remarkable job, she stepped out to try to make her mark on Aincrad, but first... the tutorial.  She made her way to the starting point of the quest, taking a step forward to speak to Zakariah to initiate her tutorial.

    About: History/personality
Adopted overseas and raised in the eastern United States by retired military parents, Salara had a childhood filled with traveling from base to base, meeting new people, seeing new places, but was very happy when her adoptive parents finally retired and settled down in the eastern U.S. when she was 18 years old, old enough to go out on her own. Shortly before graduating from high school she had gotten acquainted with a Japanese exchange student who had purchased two nerve gears, one for her and her sister but her sister was no longer interested in entering the virtual world. Salara was invited over shortly after the nerve gears were unboxed and fully charged to try it out, but never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that she would be stuck inside the first video game she had *ever* played. Right as she finally figured out how to open her menu, everybody was teleported to the square in the town of beginnings, in awe about the amount of people that was playing the game simultaneously. Never in her life had she felt more insignificant than she did in that very moment.

She was completely devastated when Kayaba had made the announcement on launch day, but her adoptive Marine father had taught her not to cower in the face of fear. While she may not have been part of the initial waves of the frontline, she did help those she could when she could. Her and her friend had gotten separated when the mass hysteria broke out after the launch day, and was deeply grieved by it to the point she had told herself that her friend was probably dead. Here she was, fully immersed and imprisoned in the first game she ever played, and the person she joined alongside was gone from her view, and had even disappeared from her friends list.
    Virtues:

Loyalty- When she steps out to do something or be part of something greater than herself, she gives it her undying devotion. Such is the way her adoptive father and mother raised her. Whoever she considers a friend, she stands beside no matter what and would even be willing to give her last breath to protect.

Humility- she is confident of herself and her abilities, but does not boast of the things she is capable of doing or what she speculates to do. She finds no profit in blowing unnecessary steam to brag or boast of achievements and accomplishments. Above all else she is content with the hand of cards fate has dealt her.

Perseverance- "I quit" and "I can't" are not in her vocabulary. She does not know the meaning of "surrender" and is unwilling to learn it. She will not give up simply because she is stuck in a video game where her life is in the balance, she will keep pushing forward no matter what.

    Flaws:
    Reference: http://darkworldrpg.com/character-flaws/
Indifferent- She does not lose her cool in situations. She does not react without first thinking it through completely, even calculating every worst case scenario that could occur. She is numb, as though her spirit had been broken and it takes great effort to even get a smile out of her. She has all but lost the ability to feel anything.

Withdrawn- She had always been a loner up until she met her friend that got her into SAO, but she went back to being that. Where she does not socialize at all, she can be seen as unfriendly and even inconsiderate due to the distance she keeps. When she discovered her friend was gone, she locked her social self away, believing that would at least alleviate the pain of loss at least for a moment.

Judgmental- She is guilty of reading people and blowing her readings out of proportion. There has been many a time that she has pushed someone away that was being nice to her because she thought there was always an ulterior motive to their actions. However, such a character flaw has saved her life on a couple of occasions.
