  1. Jaxon had made it all the way back in under a few hours, but unfortunately he'd had a late start and as such it was already sunset. He had to hurry and get this job done or else the boy might miss the dinner time special. Dad always said, never spend more money than you have to. He grabbed the glass bottle and placed it on the counter, pooling the materials on the counter next to the bottle. He'd grab a material and grind it up in the mortar and pestle, before pouring water on it and then filtering it through a piece of filter paper. As the water poured through the thin layer, it began to glow and Jaxon took a sudden interest in the whole crafting aspect of this game. What was going on during that glow? It's ridiculous, how could the man make a new animation for the transformation, instead of just letting the water turn red on the filter? "You know old man, your job is quite interesting I'll give you that. It's no horseless carriage, but it's definitely its own science. I can respect any man's craft."

The potion came out quite well, but not perfect. Meanwhile, Zackariah would walk into the back and set a large box on the counter. Jaxon grabbed it and hoisted it up on his shoulder. "I guess I'll take this where it needs to go."

  2. The boy had almost made it back to the gate when he noticed the last material he needed to start the crafting portion of the quest. Soon, he would have a good bread to eat. The boy had worked hard for this, and now he was gonna reap the reward for his labor. His hand slams into a wall as he walks into the town, bringing up that horrible window. "Immortal object" The words planted themselves on the wall in front of him. That's not exactly fair, making the objects around us unable to break or be destroyed, but we die like a fly on a strip of poisonous wax. You're a fucked up guy Kayaba.

He straps on his armor and walks back into the shop. "Hey, Zack. I got all of the materials." He simply states to the old NPC, who replies with a request of making the potion for the second part of the quest. "Did I agree to this?" He asks, looking up at his Quest window and sighs.

    "Guess I did."

  3. Jax wanted to get back in time for dinner, that way maybe he can get a discount on the food at the inn. Thankfully, it was run by NPCs so he wouldn't have to deal with the people who would be running it. He smiled softly at the idea of the bread he would munch on when he finally got back. He saw the gates when he stepped out of the woods and his mouth began to water, almost like he was right next to the bread that was waiting for him. The world didn't allow for drooling, but it did make your mouth taste like saliva. It's incredible really, the fact that he figured out a way to implant sensations like this directly into our brains without so much as any physical stimulation. It's all numbers and words in the correct sequence.

He looks down, scanning the floor for any materials, but failed to find any before he could keep going. The sun was getting low, and he wanted to be home by the night time.

  4. As the young boy walked through the field, he would slowly scan the surrounding field. It was weird if he was being honest, the amount of detail Kayaba put into this. If Jaxon could respect anything about this situation, it's the dedication he put into the world he made. All 10,000 players lived and experienced different lives, all at the same time in this world. That's gotta put ridiculous strain on the software used to run this. It can't have been easy to program the world sync on one floor, let alone one hundred. He put a lot of work into this whole world, and everyone hates him for it. I can understand his dedication to his baby, but he's got to understand that you can't force your dream onto ten thousand people. That's what makes it a nightmare.

The boy was so lost in his thoughts that he forgot to look for the nearest materials, meaning it would take that much longer to get to the next quest.

  5. The boy's footprints made for an excellent waypoint leading right back to the town, so he started to follow them. The grass had yet to pop back up and he had yet to get out of the small clearing he was in, so he'd searched the ground for a moment, noticing yet another material. Cool, it won't be long before I get to go back and learn how to make a potion. Maybe then I can get on with this quest line and buy a new item or something. He stood there examining the material before it broke apart and transferred into his inventory. He looked blankly at the hand it was in, before placing his hands in his pockets and starting back towards the town. He had no clue how long this was going to take, but he was secretly praying it wouldn't be much longer before he was done with this starting quest.

  6. Jaxon sat on the ground and stared out into space, running his fingers through the grass and searching for the next material, but not feeling anything out of the ordinary. He had come so far out looking for another material, maybe he had gone too far. He would stand up and look around, before opening his menu and looking at the map. He took a close look at the distance between where he was and the town, noting how long it took him to get where he is now. Maybe I should try to grab the last materials on the way back. That might make it easier to get to the second part of the quest as soon as I get back.

He was over half way through the first part, but he was pretty far from the town. It would take forever to get back if he kept going deeper. He'd started making his way back towards town in no time.

  7. Jaxon had walked for quite some time, stopping and smiling. He liked the warmth of the sun on his skin, the wind lightly nipping at his skin. It was almost funny to the boy, how he had to be put into a death game to truly taste life like this, despite him always loving where he was from. His small town was very similar to the outskirts of this floor. There was that one town not too far from the town of beginnings that truly reminded him of home. The community there was so kind, not that Jaxon was there often, but he definitely liked it in the small village.

He'd always wanted a simple life, but never like this. He couldn't see his family if he wanted to and that hurt, but even if he could, he didn't know how well he would get along with them. He had very conflicting emotions on the matter, because the game had given him a new perspective but it also kept his father from being able to make his case. You'd better have a good explanation for me when I get back. He'd deadpan before plucking yet another material from the ground.

  8. Jaxon knelt down, pulling another material from the ground, wiping the dirt on his white shirt, standing up and walking away from that small area he had remained in for some time. "I can't be too focused on one section of this field. I'll pluck it dry." He wasn't sure of the refresh rate of the materials he was finding but he was sure that it wasn't gonna spawn right back where he had plucked it from. That would make it too easy. He was sure it was more likely to be found dispersed through the field because that wouldn't decrease the odds of finding one unless you had just pulled one and not moved for quite a bit.

Jaxon had a tendency to work harder than he needed to, so by the time he was ready to turn and start searching again, he'd completely lost sight of the gate back into town. "I'd reckon this is far enough." The young boy would smile softly. It had been so long since something made him want to smile, so it almost tickled when he did.

  9. Not long after he'd found his first material, and changed his shirt, Jaxon would look to the ground again. This is just like dad's junk yard, working to find that one socket that every part of the engine needed. You'd spend hours out in the hot sun working your butt off because you'd looked right over this one piece a million times and still can't seem to find it. He would turn, walk a few feet and stop, once again scanning the area around him. The only difference is, these plants can be anywhere on this six and a quarter mile plot of land. Dad used to keep the cars in one spot to make it easier to find a piece he dropped, that clumsy old fool.

The boy would glance at the ground once more, "I'll make it home soon Dad. I swear." Even a betrayal like his father's wasn't enough to make him hate that man who made this boy who he is. Sure he saw him in a different light but he was still his old man.

  10. As the young player ran his hand through the grass, he felt one of the blades interact differently with his finger. It was a subtle change, but this blade had a tinge more resistance. He'd found one. His index finger and his thumb gently squeeze the stem of the flower as he plucks the material from the ground, the system sending him a notification of his success and his quest window altering with his progression marked in the player menu. "I guess you have to track it manually." He would briefly remark before closing the window and nodding to himself. "Right, time to finish the job I guess." His hand would navigate through the menu, reaching his inventory as he removes his upper armor piece and replaces it with a white short sleeve shirt. He would keep the red cloak though, as that meant something to him.

It was his show of pride in his upbringing. He wanted to remain connected to the real world somehow, and as such he got something to remind him of home.

  11. Jaxon had wanted to get an early start, so once he'd gotten the gist of the quest the boy was basically out the door and on his way to the field to start searching. Once he'd felt that he was out far enough for the odds to be in his favor, the young boy would start scanning the ground, looking for any plants or Items that stuck out to him, but not knowing what to look for worked against him as he was unable to find any materials this time around. Damn, I was hoping with this being the tutorial quest that they'd practically give you the materials. I guess the big man upstairs would rather a trial by fire. Still though, it helps to have at least some knowledge of what's common in the field, and with a system of hunting and gathering like this I like that the experience you have makes a difference.

The boy would fiddle with the grass on the ground as he stared off into space, his mind wandering and missing the plants he was looking for.

  12. Jaxon watched as the world around him rolled by, wondering what it would be like if he was one of the few that actually pushed the gears that kept this world ticking on forward. Maybe he'd be able to make friends again, maybe he'd be able to trust someone again, but until then he wouldn't know. He wanted to be that guy, the one who could walk into a room and be universally liked, but with his past, people just made him want to turn and run. He would never admit, but he hates people being around him just in general. He got so far trusting someone only for that rug to be swept from under him.

Still though, he had a desire to get to the frontlines, and as such, he would fight tooth and nail to make it happen.

The boy stepped into the shop, spotting the shop owner in the back and smiling at the boy. "You're Zackiriah, right?" He would ask, looking around the shop for anything interesting. The old man would confirm the player's suspicions with a simple nod. "Cool, mind giving me the quest?" His words carrying a certain bite the young boy always had when he spoke to people. "I need to start getting stronger if I want to get out of this town for good." He would explain.

    Height: 5'9"

About: Jaxon grew up in a small part of the US no one knew. A population in the 1100s and falling, that mixed with the complete lack of financial stimulus made for a failing community that was just homey enough for his family to tough it out. They didn't have all that much, but they had enough for the young boy to grow up into a functioning teenager. His father was a mechanic, and taught him everything he knew. When Jaxon was a little over 8, him and his dad were building motorcycles from the frame up, and selling them. It was the only way for them to pay the bills, or at least that's how his dad saw it, but Jaxon was having fun. His family computer crashed when he was about 9, and he decided to take a look at it. He actually saw it as pretty simple, while intricate in its own way.

Always being the little problem solver of his town, Jaxon was pretty well known. His friends would all talk about how he could reach the top of the charts if he made a vlogging channel, but Jaxon had another passion no one knew about.

    Combat.

The calculated precision of a strike in each bout made the young boy wonder how exhilarating it would be to fight alongside the legends like Beowulf and King Arthur. He’d practice in his backyard between the junk cars and scrapped computers, whenever he wasn’t holding a wrench or turning a screw, he was swinging a sword.

Jaxon’s father expanded on his business, and by 15 Jaxon was a partner in a business that was slowly reviving the town. More money exchange means more people, and with the business came more workers. Someone Jaxon’s age had befriended the boy, and was receiving pointers from the Rabbit family. This was Jaxon’s best friend, they spent all their time together and even practiced swordplay every now and again. One day, Jaxon walked in on his best friend talking to his father. They were talking about buying some businesses and Jaxon chimed in, telling them that his business is booming so they probably won’t sell.

Before Jaxon knew it he was packing up his stuff, his father had sold the business for a good sum of money and a little bit if stock in the new owner’s business. But even that wasn’t enough for Jaxon. That business was his pride and joy, his baby and now it was gone. His friend came to apologize, bringing a nerve gear system as a gift of peace, and offered to let Jaxon play the beta, but Jaxon refused. Still though, Jaxon got a copy of the game and the nerve gear, but never touched it.

That is, until the release day. He’d finally let enough time pass that it didn’t stink of the kids money. He opened up the game and called out those words, before ending up in the town of beginnings.

That’s where he saw the old friend, the one who had betrayed him.

    Virtues:

Honest- Jaxon has never been one to lie, he’s always seen it as an underhanded tactic to make people like you. He’s more likely to tell you the harsh truth in full than lie even the slightest bit. He’s not perfect, and if he knows it will cause a lot of trouble for everyone, he’ll lie, but he’ll at the very least feel bad afterwards.

Hardworking- One thing Jaxon’s dad taught the boy was that through hard work, honesty, and a strong will, all things are possible. Of course, his father untaught him most of that lesson, it’s what happens when you betray your son, but the hard work never changed. In Jaxon’s mind the hard work that got them there still meant something, and he’s willing to try and get it back.

Strong-willed- When Jaxon sets his mind on something he’s gonna work his butt off until it’s done. Nothing can deter the boy from his goal, not even the threat of injury or death. One day he hopes to have the strength to surpass even the strongest front lines players, but for now he’s stuck watching from the starting town.

    Flaws:

Callous- After everyone he trusted betrayed him, the young boy now has very little sympathy for anyone. The cruel people in this cruel world deserve cruel treatment, and he cares little about their punishment, and even less so who doles it out. People aren’t special, they’re evil, conniving and all around untrustworthy.

Blunt- Because of his honesty and his betrayal, Jaxon cares very little for how someone feels, and will tell them they are nothing without batting an eye. His kind heart has shriveled up and now he’s all about living his own life without others. Especially when it comes to people he’s just meeting, the boy will be brutally honest about every little detail with no filter and generally in a condescending way.

Withdrawn- Jaxon does not want people around him. They tend to draw crowds and crowds are just oceans of people you can’t trust or people with bad intentions. As such, the boy has adopted a mask of hatred towards people to protect his shriveled heart, and let it grow back into the powerful light that it once was. But for that to happen you’ll have to break down the many walls he has put up to keep people from hurting him further.
