Yokai

Just as she was about to suck it up and just head into the building, Yokai would hear voice and a hand would wave abouts in her face. To which the timid girl would let out a quiet yelp. “Ahh- um, I- I was just… I’m just looking for…” She would stumble over her words so much until mumbling became silence. “I’m bad at talking…” Her menu was left open for him to see, looking at the quest that he himself was currently going for.

”A-Are you looking to do this quest?” She would ask sheepishly. Last time she’d started this quest, several others came around and it was too much for her to handle. With only one more person, maybe she could actually stomach it. “I-I’m too scared to do it alone. I know there isn’t any combat and I shouldn’t be scared but do you want to come along? I want to get stronger so I can stop being scared.” She was wearing her heart on her sleeve in the moment but anything to take this first step at this point.

First Lessons

Once again, Yokai was standing in front of Zachariah’s shop. She already knew that this quest didn’t require any combat, her friends had told her as much, but the thought of leaving the safe zone was too agonizing. If she went outside, she could die for real. There wouldn’t be any coming back from mistakes. However, if she leveled up and became stronger, not only would she be able to keep herself alive easier but she could also level up with her friends who’d gone ahead of her.

And so she stood there conflicted with her menu open over the quest objective. “Just one quest… if I can do that, I could do more. More levels and I can’t die…” The girl mumbled to herself trying to find a way to psych herself up for the coming trial but never making headway. Maybe she should have done this with her friends when they’d pressured her before…

After being pulled over by a random NPC, Ichika looked at the quest window open in front of the potion shop. Getting through conversation with even a computer generated program was difficult for her. Her usual party of players were not with her today since they already had completed the quest ahead of her. They had all decided they wanted to start leveling in the game but she was nervous. Having fallen behind, she realized that if she didn't catch up to them she might one day be left behind... or even worse.

Yet even with that conviction, why could she not muster the strength to go and speak with the NPC, Zackariah? The fear of stepping outside the safety of town? No, it was definitely the talking. Every time she knew she'd have to speak with someone else, her body got cold and shook with just simple thoughts. So there she stood, in quite the pickle. Too afraid to be left behind by her friends, yet too afraid to follow them.

"Why can't I just activate the next part of the quest without having to talk to the NPCs..." The girl muttered looking into the alchemy shop wondering if she could skip his dialogue, or maybe just step inside real quick and that would activate the next part of the quest. Shaking in place, she continued to try and get that courage to continue if it was even possible.

Yokai | Ichika Yukikaze

Background:

Ichika was born in Kyoto, Japan to a somewhat upper-middle class family. She was the only child to her parents so she was rather spoiled. Her mother loved spending time with her only daughter so when it came time for her to be schooled, she began homeschooling. This was fun while she was young but when it came around to her teens, Ichika really wanted to attend an actual school. So finally, at the age of 12, she started going to school.

It was a difficult time adapting to the new environment but she ended up meeting some friends that really got her into gaming and music. Growing up with some people around her age now, Ichika began to open up more. They friends started to make a band together, learning how to play instruments so they can spend more time together. The group also played video games in there free time, hence why they got ahold SAO and are now stuck inside the game. Even still, they stick together and make music to pass the time.

Virtues

Experienced - After switching from homeschooling to public, Ichika met some friends that she now plays in a band with. These three friends happened to be gamers who got her into it as well. Since then it's become a regular hobby for her.

Laid Back - Confrontation is a huge problem that Ichika prefers to avoid. For that reason, she typically tries to make herself a pleasant person to be round for anyone that she might meet. This makes her relatively nice to strangers for fear of upsetting them.

Focused on Improvement - Ichika is trying to work away a lot of her problems and SAO is not really helping that despite being trapped in the game with her friends. Working on improvement is all her focus whether it be with her stats in the game or her personal endeavors. Perseverance and dedication will see her out of this death trap.

Flaws

Socially Awkward - Ichika was raised an only child and homeschooled. This obviously made it difficult to make friends or even really have a relationship with someone around her age. This led to her not necessarily being introverted but having trouble in social groups.

Quiet - Never initiates conversation with a person she's never talked with before. Communication lacks especially in tight situations or stressful environments. Doesn't like talking while she's scared either.

Nervous - Getting easily nerved is a big problem for Ichika. Even as a performer she has a lot of trouble playing in front of people that aren't her friends. It's something she's really been trying to work on and starting to make strides in.
