Located far of the well-beaten path, The Blood-Forged Rose is settled in a valley between the small mountains to the west of Snowfall Town. From the air, the path leading to the shop has the appearance of the stem of a rose, complete with ebony stone spikes as the thorns, and small leaf shaped clearings along its length. At the end of the path, players will find the forge settled at the back of a large spring like clearing protected from the harsh elements by towering metallic obelisks in the shape of rose petals. Next to a crystal clear reflection pool in the center of the clearing, players will see a large white wolf howl to alert her master of any strangers approaching. Stepping out of the forge, the tall, red-haired smith calls to the wolf and welcomes all customers who would go out of their way to visit his shop.

Tyr decided that it was finally time to attempt to craft his first item. Throwing wood into the forge, he stoked the flames into a roaring blaze. Placing a chunk of ore into the fire with a pair of tongs. Pumping the bellows, he waited patiently for the metal to reach just the right heat. A faint scratching at the door shook him from his concentration. Looking to the side he saw that his familiar, Lupa, was whining to be let outside. With a huff, Tyr walked over and let her outside. Walking back to the forge, he was dismayed to find the ore melted into a puddle in the bottom of the oven.

Trying to make a second attempt, Tyr grabbed another chunk of ore from the shelf, and carefully placed it to the fire. Impatience got the better of him, and he removed the ore before it had reached the proper glow. Placing the glowing metal on the anvil, he nearly jarred his arm when his hammer simply bounced of the now barely hot chunk. Throwing the metal into a bucked of sand, he stormed out of the forge in frustration. 'Maybe tomorrow,' he thought to himself.

It was a new day in the forge and Tyr was bound and determined to craft his first item. Not wanting any distractions, Tyr let Lupa out of the building and left the door open so she wouldn't scratch to get back in. Taking a deep breath of the cool air that was now circulating throughout the forge, he grabbed a piece of ore and placed it in the now blazing fire. Losing all sense of time and place, Tyr was focused on shaping the metal before him. The hammer in his hand seemed to take on a life of its own, striking without thought at the perfect time and place. After what must have been hours, Tyr stepped back drenched in sweat to look at one of the most exquisite One-handed Spears he had ever seen. He would have to get it evaluated later, but he couldn't help but beam with pride at what he had created.

Still riding on the excitement of his first craft, Tyr thought he would try to repeat what he had done. Sadly, he just couldn't seem to do anything right this time. He screwed up on the re-heating process, causing the metal to warp, and things just went downhill from there. He even managed to break the wooden haft that he was going to use. Frustrated at himself, he threw what could barely be recognized as a spear away, and stormed out of the forge to let off some steam.

Taking a look at the one remaining chunk of ore in his inventory, Tyr let out an exasperated sigh. 'Looks like I only get one try this time. I really need to go get more materials,' he thought to himself as he prepared the forge. So caught up with the thought of having to do it right the first time, he found himself making mistakes in the stupidest of places. By the time he was done, the material simply burst apart into a hundred pieces. Kicking himself for stressing like that, he set about cleaning up the mess he had made.
