[F3-SP] A Time To Hunt - Bagging up those Wintery Flakes, Beginning Again pt. 9 - COMPLETE!

Recommended Posts

A final mob would stand between Brax and his completion of the first journey into the wilds of floor three.  In the far distance, almost beyond his sight, Brax managed to make out four figures of indeterminate size, more than likely a mob of elves again patrolling the area in search of players to hunt down and defeat.  They did not seem overly large, but at such a distance Brax could not be assured of anything having to do with them, not until he got closer and received a better look.

His careful examination of the mob led him to also turn a watchful eye upon his surroundings, so as to approach the groups position undetected.  It was slow goings, of course, given the heavier tread of his armor and weapon, but the caution paid off.  He drew closer and closer, beginning to make out a few more details about the mob, such as that they were warriors, much like the others he had challenged previously, and that they should not prove too much of a challenge with the armaments they bore.  Inching ever closer, his gaze searched every move he made for safety's sake, which led him to search for materials as well.  But here, in the flat fields of floor three, nothing stood out but the mob that lay in front of him.

Finally, he had advanced close enough to see the group in detail, and Brax was not impressed.  They were nothing serious, so he treated them as such, much to his folly.  Brax raised himself up out of the grass, intent clear in his movements: he would strike hard and fast, ending the threat and going back to town, safe and secure enough to contemplate the trip and consider his next outing, possibly floor four if he was feeling adventurous, if he could feel adventurous.

The mob had other ideas.  They had seen Brax from the far distance, allowing the adventurer to get close enough to strike at him themselves, letting the man believe himself to be better than he thought.  As a result, when Brax revealed himself they were already prepared, leaping at him immediately and drawing their weapons much quicker than he anticipated.  The warriors came in two waves, both knocking him back several feet with the ferocity of their blows.  Brax could not even activate his Epitaph as he stood under their assault, they had moved so well together.  Briefly he considered that this could be the end of his journey, the folly of his arrogance.  But this would not be the end, it could not be the end.  Knocked down but not out, Brax rose from his prone position and charged into their recovering ranks, his shoulderguard leading the way.  He connected hard, blowing past the mob in spectacular fashion, and spinning on his heel turned to deliver the final two blows of his Trample Act which had begun to take effect.  Both shots bisected the mob, tearing them apart and leaving nothing but light and mist in their place, along with loot from the kill.

He absentmindedly wiped off his weapon, sheathing the axe as he surveyed the field of battle.  It had been a close call, but Brax had survived.  He would have to keep his wits about him; it would not do well to allow the mistake to happen again.  Shaking his head in agreement, he made his way back to Delilah Village purposefully, ideas for the next journey in mind.
