About: History

Wade hails from a small town on the outskirts of Tokyo where he lives with his grandfather Gorou, who worked as mechanic. He was left with his grandfather when he was two years old, and thus doesn’t remember much about his parents. He only knew that his mother was white, and figured that’s where he had gotten the English name ‘Wade’ from. He doesn’t openly begrudge them however, since Gorou was a kind old man and he enjoyed the quiet life he lived here. Wade assists his grandfather in making repairs as an apprentice of sorts. When he was told that he had a curious affinity for pointing out problems with vehicles, and fixing them, Wade decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and get training to become a full-fledged mechanic. Wanting to make Gorou proud, he applied for college straight out of high school and went to the bustling city to pursue this goal.

Unfortunately Wade hit a large bump in the road. His funds wouldn’t allow him to get a full education, and he needed to work jobs that he found were demeaning to be able to afford it. He went from one job after another for two years, from dish washer to store clerk, janitor to garbage truck driver. While he despised these jobs, he rarely complained and did each of them well, getting many recommendations and references from his employers. There were no shortages of jobs for him, and getting enough money for college seemed imminent. Gorou would surely be proud to hear this.

One day while working as a store clerk in a game shop, his co-workers became enamored with a game called Sword Art Online that had just come out. Wade normally wouldn’t take interest in such a thing since he wasn’t much of a gamer to begin with, but during a break he was asked by his boss if he wanted to take a copy home and give it a try. Seeing as he didn’t have anything planned that night, he took the offer and received a NerveGear, and a copy of SAO which he played the minute he got home.

Wade decided to use his grandfather’s name as his username, intending to just give the game a trial run and take it back to the shop after tonight. However, immediately after creating his character, Wade found out that logging into this game was a big mistake. A red cloaked figure appeared before him and several other players announcing that SAO was in fact a death game, and that they were all trapped within it. Making his grandfather proud would have to wait it seems.

Virtues:

Responsible: Wade rarely ever leaves a job undone, and will do each and every one given to him with his utmost ability. Any job that is worth doing would be worth doing right, and Wade always sticks to this mentality. When he fails at accomplishing a task he doesn’t make excuses, and strives to do better when another chance presents itself.

Perceptive: Wade has a keen sense of sight, and tends to find things that others may miss. He’ll find lost items that people have misplaced with ease, and return them. He can also pick up on how a person is feeling by just observing their body language as well. Wade can usually spot a liar this way.

Honest: Wade doesn’t have a single dishonest bone in his body, and is practically incapable of lying. His grandfather always told him that honesty was the best policy, and he is a firm believer of this statement. He dislikes people who are dishonest, and will disassociate himself with those who he has found to be deceitful.

Flaws:

Stubborn: Unfortunately when he’s focused, he focuses on one thing, and one thing only. It’s difficult for him to accept failure and Wade will not be dissuaded when his mind is set on accomplishing a goal. It’s also quite hard to get Wade to change his views or beliefs on certain topics.

Solemn: Wade rarely ever cracks a smile, even in the real world. His sense of humor is practically non-existent and he doesn’t believe that one should waste time fooling around, especially now that they’re all stuck in a death game. He strongly believes that every moment should be used to better oneself, or help with the goal of escaping SAO.

Brusque: Wade doesn’t speak all that much, but when he does he won’t hold back. He’ll state whatever’s on his mind and doesn’t care whether it may appear rude or not. He’s brutally honest, and doesn’t believe in sugar coating words to get a point across.
