Her blood is pure Chinese, although born and raised in the US. She bought SAO with her own money after it was translated into English, which took about a year or two. It was a lot of trouble for her to get her hands on one, mostly because her parents dissaproved of games but also because it was sold out quickly and she had to stalk ebay in order to try and catch a good deal. Her cousin and sister assisted her so that they could play as well. » Virtues: Honest. It's painful for her to lie unless the lie really won't change anythings or cause problems (example of a harmless lie: "what did you say?" "nothing"). She'll make white lies if needed, although she won't if it causes large complications. She still feels guilty even about white lies. This trait was nurtured by her teachers and parents, who weren't very tolerant when they believed her words untrustworthy (her teachers did falsely accuse her many times). Persistent. If you try to keep information from her, she'll keep trying to pry it out until you give in. This is a useful sort of stubbornness for getting information, although teammates concluded that it was her most annoying trait and sometimes fumes were blew thanks to it. Her family accidentally "trained" her this way, as it was needed many times if she actually wanted to even know something. The main influencial piece was her dad, who never directly answered her questions. Hasty. Although some consider this a flaw, it actually saves a lot of time (which can be crutial). Expect Meliu to interfere with meaningless fights, skip greiving for lost team mates when they are short on time, and break morals to win and escape SAO and return to reality. However, this also falls into the "flaws" area since hastiness is a double-edged sword. She hated being bored, hated slow movies, and hated stretched conversations throughout her life, mostly when a teacher was rambling on explanations. Strangely, she never minded when the conversation was a family-talk. » Flaws: Blunt. Unless you're a young child or you have a really, really good reason, she won't hold back on relaying her thoughts to you on your actions or behavior. She's brutally honest, which can blow fumes or break people down at times. She'll throw meaningful quotes at you to convince you to do what she wants you to do, though those quotes are also blunt. Those quotes are mostly discovered to either be her true philosophies or quotes taken from anime (Don't underestimate their quotes, kids!) that she strongly agrees with, although she never tells you who said it unless you ask. Fearful. As a child she was always scared of the unknown (ahem, darkness) and even now she panics in it with no light nearby, or with no other people within close contact of her. It's more of a trait that she grew into thanks to her parents, who liked playing pranks on her in the dark when she went down the stairs at night-time. She even sometimes saw sillouhettes of quite terrifying figures like a man holding a kitchen knife in a fist-shaped grasp, which made her even more terrified of darkness. Impatient. Taking too long to do something that should not? Somebody's going to be annoyed. And she'll investigate, as well as pesker you to finish. Melody's family was known by close family friends as the procrastinators and the arriving-at-parties-late family although she made many efforts to fix that. She'll tap her foot rapidly out of habit, but that also serves as a warning. This is one of the ways to blow her fuse, and she'll probably glare at you for a while.
