[SP-F1] It Takes Getting Used To

Recommended Posts

"Okay... Maybe not how I wanted to start off, but alright."

Kalina huffed and blew some blonde hair out of her eyes, sitting by a river on Floor 1. The Floor accurately matched her level, since she had been slacking pretty harshly since the game's release. What, fight a few Frenzy Boars almost two years ago and then vanish? Real professional, Kalina. She leaned over and looked into the water, peering at her reflection. A few fish were lazily swimming by, acting completely identical to their real world counterparts. Not like in other games where they had set cycles and rarely varied. The player picked up a flat looking rock and looked up, reeling back her arm and chucking it, watching it skid across the water before falling into the water with a satisfying 'Plunk!' Some ripples shuddered across the water's crystal clear surface, and the fish by the water's edge swam off.

"Hah, trust me, running doesn't get you too far."

Kalina said with a half grin, speaking in a comedic and defeated tone. She herself had slacked pretty hard since the games release. Two years. Two whole years! Someone with a little more drive could have completed so much in that time. Gotten so strong, helped so many people. But here she was. Talking to fish. Not doing anything productive.

Kalina rested her head in her hands, pursing her lips in thought. She had to start doing something productive. Collect supplies, kill some monsters, anything. She looked down back at the water, seeing the fish eventually start to return. She grinned, unequipping her boots and standing. Jump into the water, [censored] those fish, head back to town and sell them like no one's business. Then she could buy some supplies, kill some enemies, git gud, profit. She then jumped into the water and plunged her hands in, reaching around wildly for fish. And she got one! Yanking it out of the water it thrashed around violently, difficult to hold because of the slippery body and relentless struggle.

"Gah-! Hey, knock it off, will ya!?"

Kalina grit her teeth and glared at the fish, slowly watching as it began getting success in it's escape attempt. It slipped right out of her hands and lingered in the air for a moment. Kalina's eyes widened at the fish as it fiercely pivoted in the air, it's tail coming right back around and firmly slapping her across the face before falling back into the water and swimming off. Kalina stared in disbelief and placed a hand on her cheek.

"You little punk! Where did you go!? I'll kill you!"

She thrashed around the water for a good while but eventually came to no avail. She huffed and stood up out of the water, sitting the by the edge of the body and running a hand through her hair, twisting the blonde locks to get all the water out of it. Being a low level player was quite a struggle. Practically everything in the game was owning her right now. Even the fish. The fish weren't even enemies and they still got the better of her. Kalina looked around cautiously, hoping nobody was in the area to have seen that. No one to the left. No one to the right. No one behind, aaaaaand no one in front. Coast was clear.

"Good, good. I still got it. Reputation is a-okay."

She laughed a little nervously and kept getting water out of her hair. Kalina if you keep talking to yourself people are going to start thinking you're a crazy person. Stop.
