Medieval alchemy is a combination of science, philosophy and mythology. Unlike modern alchemy, or as people would call it, chemistry, alchemists often experiment with the chemicals in an attempt to turn into something such as gold or creating an 'elixir of life', a mythical potion that grants the drinker immortality, as well as curing every disease known to man. The latter was supposedly more important to these people, and countless of them tried many ways to formulate such a liquid. Of course, all had failed for it is impossible to produce something that would artificially prolong life.

And that is what hooked Araki into alchemy, particularly medieval or Renaissance. However, that did not deter him into his interests in making things through chemistry like miniature bombs or simply a liquid that can expose invisible ink. Despite these capabilities, he never really read deeply into the subject, only the interesting facts or articles of it, ingredients and formulas of the chemicals that he wants to create.

When he hears that opening a shop is possible in Aincrad, he knows what to do for tomorrow. He would gather materials that are enough to create his first potions, and though he may not create an 'elixir of life', at least he can create health or buff potions.

After a good meal of mutton stew in the late morning, Araki sets out towards the grasslands, the sword handle in one hand. The first thing that comes to his mind is fighting a boar, and though it isn't a great enemy to fight against, he still cannot wait to taste the feeling of fighting for the first time in Aincrad. However, he has to control himself as he almost draws out his sword at the sight of several boars.

The beasts that are feasting on grasses resembles the modern boars, but larger in size and dons two, glowing eyes. Their tusks are quite sharp in a way that it can potentially kill a low level player in just two hits. To make sure they aren't triggered to go aggro against him, Araki slowly walks past them, hiding the hilt of his sword sub-consciously as if he is signifying the boars that he means no harm. Thankfully, he notices a small patch of flora nearby, and as makes his way there while making sure that nothing ominous is stalking him.

Reaching the floral patch, Araki begins scourging through the leaves and flowers to find any sort of plant that can be potential ingredients for his potions. The initial excitement, however, wears off as he soon finds that the supposed plants are nothing but weeds. Weeds are pretty useless in alchemy, so he stops searching and stands up, only to see one of the boars staring at him menacingly.

Perhaps out of insanity, or an unusual hunger for human flesh, the Frenzy Boar lets out a deep squeal as it rubs its hoof against the grass. Zipping his lips shut, Araki draws out his iron sword and checks his breastplate to make sure it is sitting on the hips, and not on the shoulders. He lets out a small, mischievous grin as he taps the metal surface of his armor, as if he is inviting the creature to attack him. He is ready.

The kickback is quite a b**ch to Araki as he is knocked back by the impact between his sword and one of the tusks he is blocking. The boar sprints past him and as quickly as he can, he stands up to face it. He feels lucky that the blade is strong enough to save himself from damage, otherwise he would be as injured as Hugh Glass if the boar finally gets him.

It turns around and halts itself from charging a second time, and simply glares at Araki as he is nervous that it might possess some form of intelligence. He looks at the other boars and concludes that they are likely sociable among groups. Some of them are dozing off with their heads lying down comfortably onto each other's bodies. Some even seem to assist their friends to look for any more edible, long grasses to eat.

He looks back at the boar as he tries to interpret its thoughts. Perhaps it would swerve at another direction just as his sword would land onto flesh, or maybe it would launch its tusks towards his sword arm, rendering him defenseless. No matter what he thinks of the boar's combat capabilities, he grits his teeth as he keeps onto his toes.

His fears are confirmed as he swings his sword swiftly towards the boar, which abruptly swings its tusks towards his sword arm. Almost instantly, he blocks this attack with his left arm, the sharp points of the bones severing the skin, costing a lot of Araki's health. He backs away and swings his sword wildly in an attempt to slash the creature away from him, but the blade so far only grazes its wild fur.

Now he is worried that he may not be able to continue, as this boar isn't fooling around in this fight. It sounds like a stupid joke to hear that a player is killed by such a lowly creature. Thinking of his dear life, he prepares to turn tail as the boar charges towards him once more. Half of his mind persuades him to stay, as there seems to be a chance to pierce through its brain. Only luck can allow this.

Though luck actually allows him to run his sword through its brain, it comes with a harsh price. No sooner after he plunges the blade, he feels an intense, sharp pain in the stomach. He dares himself to look at the injury, and what he sees has make him feel that Death itself is already writing his name in the list.

As he is brutally disemboweled by the boar's tusks, he falls onto his knees, and then his front body, feeling the darkness overwhelming his mind and soul. There is nothing he can do at this point, and all he can think is that this place is very unforgiving no matter what enemy he might be facing. Thinking of alchemy is useless now...

He closes his eyes quickly in the hopes that he would quickly get sent to the afterlife, and Death had granted this wish. The boar sniffs his corpse for a while before deciding that he is not worth being mangled or eaten, so it leaves him alone to be disintegrated by the game's system.
