[F5-SP] Sand in the Wind <<The Traveler>>

Recommended Posts

Vale waltzed into the main settlement of the 5th floor, Fortaleza. She had a quest already picked out that she wanted to do. Something she felt was necessary after the many months she spent in solidarity. The climates and the ailments that came with them had definitely strengthened her resolve and fortitude, but it was time to unlock the survivalist extra skill so it would no longer be a hindrance in the fields. Vale waited at a specific location to get the quest for it. Vale didn't need to wait too long as she had already heard the details of the quest from a number of other players. Once the cloaked lass began approaching her, Vale prepared herself to head out the second the conversation was to conclude.

Vale didn't spend long speaking to the quest giver, she was informed of the oncoming sandstorm that was going to envelop the entirety of the sandy hills the surrounds the town itself. Vale already knew the risks that were involved in this quest and didn't wait a moment longer after the quest prompt appeared before her face to continue forward with her path while simultaneously selecting the accept button. Just as the panther-like woman began her mad dash for the location did she see something glinting in the sand. As she was passing the rock that was glinting in the fading sunlight, she scooped it and placed the material in her inventory. Proceeding to bring her attention back to the direction she was rushing.

Vale kept her attention away from the sandstorm that was beginning to form and take the sunlight out of the sky, "The quicker I get to this cargo, the less I have to deal with this annoying ass storm forming." She spoke to herself, another rock was glinting in the fading sunlight that was placed slightly out of the path that Vale was running, "Can never have too little number of materials. I need to improve my alchemy anyways, ground stones would come in very handy for my concoctions." Vale convinced herself to alter her path slightly to allow her to scoop up the rock without losing any momentum. Just as before, she placed the material in her inventory and refocused on the path she had set.

The storm overhead started to get darker and darker, yet the sandstorm had yet to get violent enough to throw sand into the eyes of the panther woman. Vale couldn't see any protruding rocks in the sand, leaving her the obvious conclusion that there were no rocks for her to collect. Vale noticed in the distance that she would be entering the first obstacle of this quest which was the sand dunes that hid a multitude of quicksand. Having traveled and trained in the area, so she had enough of an inkling of where each pit might reside. But with the area darkening, she knew it was going to become more difficult to isolate each individual quicksand spot in the dunes.

As Vale began to ascend the first hill that lead to the sand dunes, she noticed at the top of the hill there was a large rock formation that had some crystals sticking out of it. She activated her charge skill to launch herself at the rock. Realizing that she put far too much effort into her launch she reached out and managed to grab a crystal breaking it off the rock. While practically flying in the air as she began her descent into the sand dunes, she placed her crystal into her inventory. Once the item disappeared into blue particles, she altered her stance so she would land and slide down the steep hill to prepare herself to take off running once again. All the while she smiled realizing how much fun she was having in such a hazardous zone.

Vale landed on the hill gracefully and slid down the side, this was one of the few areas she was going to need to focus the utmost amount in order to avoid falling into an irritating pit. Her Charge skill would need a short amount of time to recover, it was one of her few safety valves for escaping the pits due to the sheer physical strength of her fists. Just as she had prepared, the second the hill was flat enough for her feet. The Panther woman darted forward running as fast as her legs would allow her to, she could feel the sand start to pick up and hit her body. But there was not yet enough force behind the sand to harm her. So she continued forward at full speed.

Vale noticed through the sand being blown around that there stood a rather tall flower, that specific flower grew upon the edge of quicksand. Thinking about the location she was certain of the diameter of the not so large pit of death. She increased her speed to the limit she could outside of using her charge skill. Just before her hand could reach the flower she launched herself forward at full force, practically dashing over the large quicksand hole. Grabbing the flower in the process. Landing safely on the other side of the pit, she placed the flower in her inventory as she did the rocks and the crystal before it. Then continued forward with a large smile across her mouth. Which quickly came as a regret.

The overhead area became even darker as the winds began to pick up, so too did the sand being thrown around. It made it more difficult for Vale to see the area around her hindering her vision to see if there were any more materials around her. Shaking her head while trying to spit out the sand that entered her mouth. She continued her path, wondering if there were any enemies around that might try to stop her on her path. She thought about the fact that the sandstorm would probably deter creatures trying to come out, so making her way to the cargo would be pretty unimpeded. With that thought, she steeled her resolve and continued forward at the fastest speed she could go without using her charge skill.

For a brief moment, the sand being thrown around let up and in the area around her as she reached the other side of the sand dunes. At the base of the hill sat small rock formation that led up the side of the hill. On the third rock formation up there sat another cluster of crystals that she had gathered from the first rock she had seen just before the sand dunes. With relative ease, she hopped up each rock formation until she reached the crystal cluster. She didn't have enough time to gather the entire set, so she simply nabbed one and continued forth her dashing up the rock formations until she was finally out of the area of the sand dunes.

At the rock formation on the top of the hill where the scenery flattened out. Vale came across yet another crystal cluster waiting to be picked through. Looking into the distance she noticed the Cargo just barely through the sands being flung around viciously. Her training in all the floors made this entire expedition fairly easy to handle. Nodding to herself, she dashed forward grabbing the crystal in a fluid like motion. She activated her charge skill knowing there weren't going to be any quicksand pits in the pathway leading up to the quest location. Vale was practically gliding with her sheer speed along the surface of the sand as sand danced around her in every single way conceivable.

The pantherlike woman focused her mind on the cargo, she wasn't too worried about any materials that could have been around her. She would have the chance to nab them on her way back to town. Upon reaching the broken down wagon, the dark-skinned martial artist sifted through the items about trying to look for exactly what it was that was needed. It didn't take too long to find the item that was needed for the quest to be concluded. Looking into the air the storm began to rage harder and more ferociously. Vale cracked her neck in both ways flicking her eyes back toward the direction that she took in order to get where she was. Launching herself off the broken down wagon, she made her way back to town.

Making her way back to town, she returned the quest item to her inventory so she wouldn't be lugging it around in her hand, thus she wouldn't have anything hindering her movement in the slightest. Bringing her attention back up she noticed another flower sitting on the edge of the hill just beside yet slightly under the rock formations she used to ascend the hillside. Narrowing her vision for it she angled herself in just a way that she could slide over the edge of the hill and nab the flower in the same fell swoop. Over the edge she quickly changed her body's positioning in the air to allow her to slide down the hillside on her feet, giving her the opportunity to move the materials she had collected reaching the broken down wagon to be placed in her inventory.

As she descended down the side of the sandy hill, in her direct line of sight on the pathway back to the town a swirling mass of sand formed together and hardened in place. A health bar immediately appeared as well as a crystal over the head of the creature being named a Sandstorm Elemental. Smirking, knowing not to open her mouth so the sand wouldn't enter her mouth she launched toward the creature, "So this why the sandstorm was generating overhead. Not a problem, I'll just slam through in a single bound." Vale thought to herself as she slammed her fist into the hardened sand with ferocious strength. The sheer force of the attack caused the Elemental to stagger backwards allowing Vale to effortlessly dodge its hand swiping in the air.

Vale didn't realize just how much force she put behind her attack, which caused the elemental to be shoved so far away that neither of them had the ability to follow up with another attack. Vale immediately darted forward once again the second her feet landed on the ground. She looked over the creature carefully trying to isolate its weak spot. Alas, she was not finding a single spot on its entire body that she could exploit. Once the elemental finally became grounded once again so it could move towards the purranther. The large creature readied it's arm for a strike with its superior range, Vale charged up her legs with her sword art to ready her own attack on the creature.

Vale noticed it just as the mob was close enough for her to launch and strike the creature. Seeing a small crystal sitting inside its forehead yet a small amount of it being seeable to the naked eye, smirking once again she launched as she was preparing to do. Angling herself so her empowered leg would tear through the forehead of the monster. On the impact of her foot, the monster exploded into a mass amount of data particles. A small prompt appeared before her showing her the rewards for defeating the monster, "1600 Col, not a bad yield for the destruction of the monster." She thought to herself while she glided through the air back down towards the ground.

It was a small drop until Vale landed on the ground gracefully, flicking her eyes back upon the path she was to run. She quickly noticed that the intensity of the sandstorm was beginning to die off. It reassured Vale that defeating that monster was exactly what was needed in order to clear up the storm that had begun around her. She hoped that no others got caught out in that storm since the average players that were upon this floor were unable to handle a monster like that. Although during her training regimen to get better had her facing mobs on equivalent levels as that Sandstorm Monster, but none that had the ability to alter the environment around her.

With the air around clearing up, the sand was no longer pelting the purranther in the face. Which ultimately made the rest of the journey a lot easier to deal with. Yet there was still sand whipping about keeping her from smiling like she wanted to. She took off once again to try and make her way back to town as quickly as possible. She wanted to finish this quest up so she could get to the next quest quickly. The dark-skinned martial artist knew she had spent way too much time not doing quest and working on her own physical strength to allow her to get through quests like these with a breeze. She even kicked it up a peg activating her charge to hasten the run to the hillside she strode down to get to the quest cargo.

It didn't take Vale long to scale up the hillside of the sand dunes that lead the way back to the town of Fortaleza. She didn't see any materials making her way up the various rock formations that out jutted from the hillsides making it possible to travel up the steep hills that lead down into the sand dunes. She kept thinking that there was still a lack of conversational aspects or something just keeping her company, "Now I definitely need to get myself a worthy familiar. This solidarity is beginning to drive me mad. I already spent a few months grinding so I can grow my strength, I can't go many more days without having someone to bask my presence in." The purranther thought to herself to keep the sand out of her mouth.

It wouldn't be much longer before Vale was in the town to be able to turn the quest in, the city began to come into vision. She couldn't help but stop smiling by this point as the sandstorm had all but died off and the sun was beginning to reveal itself once again. There was not a single thing she could harvest on the rest of her journey toward the town as there was a number of players roaming about trying to do some collecting of materials, "Those players are probably trying to get some stock created in their stores. I hope one of them is a cook. I'm in need of a consumable immediately." She thought to herself as she returned her focus back onto the town that was rapidly getting closer.

Vale slowed herself down a considerable amount as the town was within a few hundred yards of her. Taking this time to gather her breath back as she had utilized the charge skill a number of times to help hasten herself back to town. She was getting better and better with the ability usage, but she still had more work to do in order to improve her respiration during incredibly high-speed movement. While she was walking the rest of the way to town, she withdrew the quest requirement from her inventory. Immediately she made her way to the quest giver who was not far away from the entrance of the town. Once she turned the quest into the quest giver the purranther made her way to the teleportation gate so she could continue her questing ventures.
