Cayde-6 0 Posted May 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2017 Cayde wandered around the Town of Beginnings looking for anything to occupy his drifting attention span. He spun his starting dagger in his hand, ogling his surroundings. The place seemed simple enough, which to him, made the place fit the bill of "Town of Beginnings". All in all, it made sense. Probably did to anybody else that looked at this place. This is the first time he'd ever played an RPG, or a video game at all, to be frank, so he had not a clue what he was supposed to do. All he'd ever done in the real world was kill and rob people and do other sorts of jobs. Not the prettiest sort of occupation, being a gang member, but you get used to it. Plus it pays well if you get the right hook up. Eventually, Cayde stumbled upon a moderately sized stone dwelling. By the way the exterior was dressed up, it looked like some kind of shop. Having done nothing for the last half hour but spin his dagger in his hand and probably nothing better to do for the next half hour but that, Cayde decided to have a gander at the interior of the well dressed probably-a-shop. The inside of the maybe-shop filled Cayde with all sorts of feelings of wonder and merriment. He saw many shelves lined with several books, beakers and bottles filled with colorful liquids that spewed steam and colored smoke at random intervals, and all kinds of pickled critters and... other... things... inside of jars... strange really, but still interesting to see. In the center of all the test tubes and color smoke was an old an with an exclamation mark above his head. Cayde assumed the old man was either going to yell at him if he tried talking to him or he had something exciting to say. One way or another Cayde had nothing else to do, aside from meddle with the many jars and beakers inside the shop, but talk to this man. When Cayde approached, the old man turned towards him and smiled. He seemed to be very welcoming of Cayde's presence in his dwelling. "Welcome! By the look of you I surmise you must be a new adventurer looking to learn how to survive in these dangerous lands that could very well take your life at a moments notice without any sort of alert or warning, am I correct?" The old man said in gruff, excited tone. Cayde knew well enough how to defend himself from all the experience he'd had in the real world, but it'd only been with knives and his fists. And some kicking. He always enjoyed kicking people every now and then. But he figured since it was a game he should amuse himself and see everything it had to offer. Who knows? it might even grab his attention long enough in the long run. The old man carried on about how the world was filled with dangerous death beasts that would "surely claim his life sooner or later", and while the thought of the thrill it would give him excited him, Cayde grew bored waiting for the old man to get to the point. "Uh... that sounds fun, but... Could you get to the point please?" Cayde asked, trying not to sound rude. The old man seemed to be surprised by Cayde's interruption, but it didn't seem to be because Cayde had been rude. The old man settled down and gave a gentle nod. "Of course. Forgive me. I tend to get excited when I see potential in newcomers. Please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zakariah. It is a pleasure to meet you." he said bowing his head a little. Cayde tightened his posture and introduced himself to Zakariah. "My name is Cayde. A pleasure." he said, bowing his head. Zakariah looked Cayde over for a second, then spoke up, drumming his fingers together. "So, Cayde." he began, slowing walking around the room. "You need a place to begin. Dually, one that wont get you killed. Most adventurers in your position do. So, I have something very and it just so happens I have a very simple task that wont put you in any sort of danger. All you have to do is go into the wild and gather some materials to help me craft a Healing Potion. How does that sound? Simple enough, right?" Zakariah asked, tilting his head a bit and holding out his hands as if to say "Eh? Eh?" At that moment, a box appeared in front of Cayde, startling him a bit. There was text that said "The First Few Lessons Are Free". Underneath it were the words 'accept' and 'decline'. Remembering how he chose everything he presently owns, Cayde held out his hand and pushed 'accept'. Zakariah's smile widened as he clasped his hands together. "Splendid! Now, to find your way to the wilds, just head outside and make your way to any gate. You should be able to find your way from there." Zakariah waved to Cayde before he left. "Good luck!" Cayde nodded and quickly hurried outside before he noticed the empty jar or the hole in his floor. He then Looked around to figure out which way he should go to find a gate. "Hmm... I guess I should go the way I came from..." he thought. After a bit of looking around and thinking on where to go, he decided to go back in the direction he came from. He'd find it eventually, right? Cayde-6 0 Posted May 11, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) Eventually after a bit of searching and a few stops to keep himself entertained, Cayde found a gate leading outside. It was truly like nothing he'd ever seen before. The lush grass of the plains before him blew in the wind blew like hair caught in the wind. He watched the dancing grass for a while before remembering why he had come here in the first place. Cayde stepped out past the gate and slowly looked over his surroundings. There wasn't much to take in, but it was definitely a great enough sight to tell about his parents and the boys back home. And the few girls that were in the group. The leader of the Pit Vipers was from a different era so he was a stickler about letting girls join, but he came around after a while. After Cayde had gotten a good ways out into the plains, he put his dagger into its sheath and began rummaging through the grass. He didn't find much at first. Or anything that looked like what he needed. It was mostly just rocks and insects under the rocks, which he watch wriggle around for a while. When he managed to pull his attention away from the insects, he spotted a group of mushrooms nearby. He very quickly remembered the mushrooms that were in the jar back at Zakariah's. He didn't want to end up making poison instead of a health potion, so he picked up one of the lengthier rocks and gave one of the mushrooms a poke. He pulled after a few seconds and stared at it. He didn't hear any hissing, and the rock wasn't melting. So that meant it was safe, right? Cayde reached out and picked one of the undamamged mushrooms and put it in his inventory. Afterwards, he continued to search. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ID# 84292 Loot: 19 Edited May 11, 2017 by Cayde-
Cayde-6 0 Posted May 11, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) While looking through the grass, Cayde thought about his life outside of SAO. He wondered how everybody was doing and what they were doing. He wondered what kinds of jobs they were doing without him. The thought of that kind of upset him and made him feel homesick. He quickly stopped thinking about home. He then thought for a moment, that he wasn't really sure what was supposed to go into a health potion. He might not have even needed that mushroom he picked up earlier. Cayde then decided to pick things up that looked like they needed to go into a health potion. After a bit more picking through the grass, he picked up some oddly colored roots. They didn't seem to be colored in a poisonous way, so he put the roots in his inventory. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ID# 84299 Loot 19 Edited May 12, 2017 by Cayde-
Cayde-6 0 Posted May 12, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) Cayde stood up and stretched. He had gotten sore from being on the ground for so long and decided to take a break. He gently laid down in the grass and stared up into the sky. He watched clouds calmly roll along, and listened to the quiet breeze whistle in his ears. He felt like if he stayed there and lost himself in the ambiance, he might fall asleep for the longest time in his life. He could feel himself starting to lose interest in his current task, which was aiding in his drowsiness. Cayde knew that he should make a further attempt at this task and not lose interest so quickly, so he shook off the drowsiness and sat up. He stood up and decided to look in another place. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: 2 Edited May 12, 2017 by Cayde-
