(PP-F1) Siblings Reunion

Recommended Posts

It had been around 2 weeks since Yumi had last seen her brother. After the whole thing where Kayaba told everyone they were trapped and everyone had been teleported to one place, Yumi and Yano were seperated in the frenzy of panicked players that took place. All of the pushing and shoving made it difficult for Yumi to even see her brother. She had only caught a glimpse of him before he disappeared into the crowd.

Now, Yumi still walks the streets, hoping to find her brother. But it's been two weeks, and Yumi started to have her doubts if Yano was even alive still. Yumi was still wearing her Squid Girl outfit, in hopes that Yano would be able to see her easily, but it hadn't seemed to work. Yumi walked to the center of town and sat down on one of the benches in front of the fountain. She was tired of walking, and she wanted to take a break.

After getting seperated with Yumi, Yanosuke had fallen into a bit of a panic. He had run across the first floor in it's entirety, scouring every town and wilderness for signs of his sister, but finding none. He had slept when he was tired, and eaten when he was hungry, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find her. He was walking back into the Starting City now, not able to come to terms with the possibility that his sister might be dead. She can't be, he thought. There's no way she died that quickly, she's not that much of an idiot. Right? His starting spear hanging loosely in his hand, Yanoyashi walked through the streets of the Town of Begginings with his head hanging low. This was the only place he hadn't searched, because of it's size and the hunch that Yumi would've left the Town when the news broke as he immediatly had. He kept walking, aimlessly, his head filled with the morbid imagining of how his sister may have been killed.

Yumi had stared at the fountain running for a while as she let her legs get their rest. She had been walking for 4 hours with no sign of her brother. Yumi was continuing to get more and more worried about him. Yano was never the type to go out and get himself killed, he wasn't like the other panicked noobs. Both of them were smarter than the other players who had ran out and got themselves killed. There's no way he could have died right? He has to be out there somewhere.

Yumi stood back up from the bench after a few minutes and walked back out onto the streets of the town. It's sheer size made it nearly impossible to know where everything was, which made it all the more difficult for Yumi to find her brother. Because Yumi could only travel so much, there was always the chance that she was walking in circles around her brother. Yumi tried to shake away the thoughts that Yano might be dead and continued to search the town for him.

Yanoyashi stopped. For no particular reason, he had the urge to look behind him. He caught a glimpse of blue hair, walking around the street corner. "I swear to God," he said, exhasperated. If that's Yumi... Yano spun around and ran, running down the street and making the turn where he had witnessed the shock of hair. He saw the person make another turn, and ran down even faster. He managed to yell out, "Hey!" before coming to a stop at an intersection. He looked around, not able to see where the person had gone, or which way they had turned. Yano, panicking, yelled out again. "Yumi!" Of course, there was nothing that told him that the person he saw was Yumi, as hair dye was indeed a thing in SAO, and it was common for people to dye their hair strange olors. However, Yumi had gone into the game with her hair dyed blue, since she enjoyed cosplaying. "Yumi!" He yelled out again, unable to decide which street he should run down.

Yumi had heard her name being shouted by someone, so she turned around, hoping that it was brother. She couldn't see who it was through the crowd of people in the streets, but the voice sounded a whole lot like Yano's. "Yano!" Yumi called out, running in the direction of the voice.

Yumi looked back and forth between the corners where the voice had come from. I can't lose this chance to find Yano, I just can't. Yumi frantically started to run, waving her arms and calling out for her brother. "Yano! Yano! I'm right here!" Yumi continued to call out, jumping up and down. After the two weeks he had been away from her, Yumi was very desperate to find him. She looked around some more and saw a tall person with white hair. That had to be Yano. Yumi ran up to him and hugged him tightly. "Yano! I missed you so much! I can't believe I found you!" Yumi exclaimed thankfully, releasing him from the hug.

"Yumi! You're here," he exclaimed, embracing the hug. She was wearing that stupid squidgirl costume he hated, but it didn't matter right now. What mattered was that they had found each other. "Where have you been," he asked, now getting a bit angry. "I've been looking for you forever! This isn't some...situation to play around in," he finished, avoiding using the word game. Oh, the irony of it all. But she's here, you found her, he thought to himself. Finally, after so long, they were reunited. Most of the players passing by didn't pay much attention to the scene. At this point in time, more people were focused on themselves, and many still did not believe they were truly trapped. There were a large number of people who stayed in inns, and even more who just slept in the streets, avoiding danger. What a bunch of idiots, he thought. "Yumi, are you ok? Are you hurt? Did anything happen?" he asked, switching from anger to concern immediatly after. He needed to know what happened, so he could prevent something like this from happening again. It was partially his fault, to be honest, since he checked everywhere except the most obvious place to look, but he wasn't very aware of this at the moment.

Yumi was so grateful to see Yano again. The two weeks had felt a lot longer than they should have been. No one really found it odd what was going on, but that fine. People were so wrapped up in their own matters, and they never stopped to look at anything besides what mattered to them. In the two weeks they were seperated, Yumi had started to see the bad side of some people. Even at inns, people lacked common courtesy.

Yumi gave a small smile and patted Yano on the shoulder. She could tell that he was a bit worked up by his questions. "I'm okay Yano, I'm not hurt either, nothing happened. But it was horrible being alone. People everywhere, even at the inns, they were all so rude! They don't know how to properly treat people at all. Seeing you again just is such a relief." Yumi answered.

"Rude? What do you mean, rude?" He had spent the past two weeks alone, with nobody but himself to keep him company. He hadn't even attempted to talk to anyone, and the only time he speaked at all was to order food from NPC's. Speaking of which... "I'm pretty hungry, do you want to get something to eat? I'm starving, but I don't know any places around here," he said, rubbing his stomach. He ignored the last part of her response, feigning indifference. Can't have her thinking she's special, he thought. But to be truthful, he was extremely relieved that he had found her. If he had ended up finding out she had died, well... He probably would have thrown himself into a impossible situation, in hopes that he could die fighting. Right now, all that mattered to him was his sister, and he swore that nothing would keep them seperated like this again.

Yumi was a bit taken back by Yano asking what she meant by rude, but Yumi was happy to explain. "What I mean is, no one even came close to paying attention to me! When I came to this one restaurant, no one was there who helped me out like at those restaurants back at home. Maybe I'm over reacting, but I didn't like it one bit." Yumi answered, crossing her arms.

Yano had suggested that they grab a bite to eat, and Yumi got in a bit of better mood. "That sounds good, I haven't eaten in a while, so I'd like to get something as well. Unfortunately, I have been saving col so I can buy us some better gear, maybe a house, so we have to go to an NPC restaurant to save on col. I still know a good place to eat, so follow me." Yumi said as she took a few steps ahead of Yano and started to lead him to the restaurant she had in mind.

Yano sighed, a bit surprised by Yumi's news. He had expected a do it yourself kind of thing to take over the game, but even in restuarants? That was just poor service. Unheard of, really, for a restaurant, or even an inn. Nonetheless, Yano followed Yumi, because, as he said earlier, he was very hungry. Running up and down the plains and through the woods would do that to somebody. "Hey, Yumi," he said, still following her. He was curious. "What did you do to pass the time? Why'd you stay in this town, instead of going somewhere else for so long?" For a long while he had dreamed of talking to his sister again, but now that the moment had come, he found that he could think of nothing to say. It really was a strange thing, but really, he was just happy he got to see her again. And a bit angry that she had been in the Town of Begginings all this time. But that was besides the point, of course.

Yumi was just as surprised by the restaurants service as Yano was. There was at least a greeter who would seat you upon arriving at the restaurant. That's what Yumi always thought of as normal for a restaurant. It was always bothersome when she would have to wait five minutes just to flag down a waiter or server.

Yanu then brought up the obvious question of what she had been doing this whole time and why she had stayed in town. "Well, I thought you had stayed in the city, so I was looking for you almost the entire time. Maybe I found a few boys while I was doing that. I stayed in town this whole time just because I didn't want to leave and then you showed up. That would be awful." Yumi answered as they arrived at the restaurant. She held open the door for Yano and then stepped in right after.

Yano immediatly tensed up at her mention of meeting boys. Yanosuke followed her in through the door of the restuarant, and was immediatly greeted with a tavern that seemed to be straight out of a fantasy movie. People laughed and cheered, and all around them were happy faces, except from those who sat alone, who often wore the opposite expression. This extremely social setting put Yano a bit on edge, but his popularity had made him used to the tense feeling. What set him off more was his sister's casual inclusion of her meeting boys. Taking a few steps, he turned back to face her. Ignoring the parts where she said she waited for him, he immediatly went for, "What do you mean, 'found a few boys'?" It was such a vague comment, and when used in passing like that, it stuck out like a sore thumb. "You're telling me that I ran all over this floor three times over, and you sat in the first town, meeting boys?"

Yumi got a response to her comment about meeting boys and it was the opposite of what she had expected. She thought Yano would laugh it off simply because that was the sort of thing she did. He seemed angry at her for this and Yumi tried to turn the situation around. "N-no! Of course I wasn't just sitting around meeting boys! I was looking for you, and I would just sometimes run into a nice guy and maybe we would chat for a bit. Even if I wanted to find you, you can't really expect someone to do that for a whole two weeks. So I'm sorry I met some boys." Yumi apologized as she walked over to an empty booth and sat down on one end, leaving the other seat for Yano.

Yumi flagged down a server and ordered some drinks, which came to them immediately. "So, I know you couldn't have just been searching for me these past two weeks. Did you do anything interesting? Maybe you met a few girls?" Yumi asked, joking a little bit at that last part.

Yano smiled, waving his hand, as if to dismiss it. "Sorry, It's just been a tough few weeks," he explained, trying to explain his frustration. He sat down on the opposite end of the booth, examining his surroundings. He looked at her, when she asked what he'd been doing. "Well, it wasn't really non-stop searching, I guess." He paused, collecting his thoughts. "I wandered the floor, and went from town to town, asking around for you. Sometimes I traveled with the odd party, but I mostly kept to myself. I've heard some interesting things, especially about this game." He looked at the ceiling, then back down at Yumi. "There's been a surprising amount of suicides, way more than expected. Whether it be jumping off the edge of the floor, or by players throwing themselves into things they knew they couldn't handle." He stopped, looking at his hands, then continued. "This is really it, huh? This is what our life is going to be like from now on." He didn't know if he could handle it. He was so used to everything being right in the world, that this situation threw his whole being off the rails. "Waiter? Can we get some service over here, please?" He asked, trying to flag someone down that looked like they knew what they were doing.

Yumi nodded, completely understanding what Yano meant by it being a tough few weeks. While the conditions of Floor 1 were okay. The simple ignorance towards her was annoying enough. "I get what you mean. We both had it rather rough in this game. I never knew people could be like this. Well, at least you won't have to travel with the odd party anymore, because you have me now!" Yumi said, trying to lighten up the mood a little bit.

Yumi wasn't surprised by the fact that a lot of suicides were happening. She could hardly tolerate this world's inconveniences already. But Yumi wasn't going to kill herself over it. When Yano had said that this was going to be their life from now on, Yumi's heart sank. "Yeah, I guess it is. Who knows how long it will be until the game is beaten. We could be trapped here for so long. We should have gotten mother or father to come in here with us. We could have easily gotten another copy of the game." Yumi said.

Yano nodded, smiling a bit. "We're going to be spending a lot of time together, seeing as we don't know how long this game was going to last." Yano shook his head, still unable to fully process the scale of the change. "Wow," was all he managed to mutter. He stroked his chin, staring at the table in front of him. Not a single waiter had come to check on them, and he was sure there wasn't a single person who had even cast a glance at the two. "Real lack of service here," he said absently, taking another look at the seats and people around him. "Mother and Father? Well," he said, coming back to reality. "You know they wouldn't have wanted to play a game with us, they're always so indifferent when it comes to stuff like this." He smiled, remembering his parents, his home, his school, his own life. "I do wish they could be here now, though. Could really use some of that adult guidance, or whatever," he finished, with a chuckle.
