[SP-F1] The Basics Are What We Need <<The First Few Lessons Are Free>>

Recommended Posts

<<Sager>> is accompanied by his sister <<Echoes>> as they make their way through the Town of Beginnings. Earlier they just had a conversation about doing their best to be able to live in this world and hopefully being able to help get out of it someday, but first they would be having to go over the basics. As a result, the two would search around until they found the quest that was just the answer that they were looking for. That was when they stumbled around a workshop. "Hmm a workshop.", Sager said. "Let's take a look inside", said Echoes. They took a look inside just as Echoes suggested. "Hmm. It appears that an elderly man is in the workshop. So that pretty much confirmed that this was a NPC, but is it the NPC that we are looking for?", said Sager. "There is only one way to find out!", his adoptive sister exclaimed.

Sager was not surprised by the way his sister suddenly decided to open the door as that would probably be something that she would do in the real world, but it's not like being rude to NPCs really mattered all that much so he didn't really react to this. If that was really an NPC then there would probably be little to no chance that the door would be locked especially for the early game. Echoes pulls on the door to the workshop and it opens as expected. The two siblings then walk into the workshop. The sudden arrival notified the NPC. Sager needed to know who this NPC was so he started to as a few questions. What is this place? Who are you? Those were just a few of the questions that he asked. With enough inquiring he got the answer that he needed. The NPC introduced himself as Zackariah. He didn't speak in game terms, but playing a few MMORPGs made Sager use context clues by the answers to Zackariah gave to him to form the conclusion that yes this was indeed the NPC that they were looking for. After making that conclusion Sager would stop asking questions and allow the NPC to talk.

Zackariah said that he wishes to help out the new adventures of Aincrad aka the new players of SAO. A quest like this would probably be skipped by some players if this was a normal game. However, this was no ordinary game so trying to learn it on your own was no option here. There is no respawning so you don't get multiple chances to learn. The NPC offers to assist the players by giving them a task. Echoes takes the decision to accept the quest later and attempt to learn on her own for more efficiency. So that meant that Sager would have to do the quest on his own too, but Echoes would accompany him while he does the quest. If there was any confusion after they both completed the quest they would help each other out for a better understanding and if that didn't work then just ask other players.

Zackariah asks Sager to collect 5 Tier One Materials. Sager had ten of those in his inventory, but he didn't know exactly where to get them. Luckily Zackariah notifies him that he can go out to the field and collect them that way. With that in mind he and Echoes leave the workshop in order to get started on Sager's quest. The two made their way to end of the safe zone which was The Town of Beginnings. This would be the first time that they step out of the town, but they were prepared. The stresses that came with being stuck inside the game was something they have gotten used to, besides they still had each other. As long as that was true they could do their best at all times. In addition, this was a gathering quest, combat isn't necessary for it. So they could just keep their distance from monsters.

The two finally took their first step out of the Town of Beginnings and into the fields. Now it was time for Sager to find the Tier One Materials that he needed. He and Echoes searched around for a good spot to find materials. This spot needed to be far away enough from the monsters and other players to avoid interruptions. "Hmm looks like we may need to examine the spawn rates to avoid monsters.", Sager suggested. "We don't have time for that! I'm going to have to complete this quest too you know!", yelled Echoes. "Yeah that is true... but it's better to be safe than sorry.", said Sager. "You know what if you are so worried then I'll find us a spot!", Echoes yelled out in English. She proceeded to drag Sager through the fields by the armor plating on his gear. It really wasn't that Sager was worried, but more that he was trying to think of the best course of action, but now that was thrown out of the window since Echoes decided to find them a spot herself. Although, Sager did not mind all too much. It was just his sister being his sister.
