Blast this stupid sand!! Alec thought to himself as he planted his foot, or at least tried to and the soft ground gave way causing him to stumble and lose his footing swinging wide and missing the Bandit completely as he fought to maintain his footing. The Bandit sneered at his fumbling and flailing and darted in knife first. As Alec fought to keep his footing he brought his shield up and knocked the the knife blade over his head and harmlessly away from himself. As he replanted his foot he stood up bringing his shield before him and raising his Mithril Battle Axe back up over his shoulder as he took a deep breath to calm himself and ready himself for the next attack. As the Bandit cheated forward Alec swung his Mithril Battle Axe down and sank the axe head into the Bandit's shoulder as he attacked. The axe left a gaping wound that released red pixels into the air as he pulled the axe head free. The Bandit lunged forward as Alec shifted his shield to block the knife blade slid off the surface if the shield before finally sliding into Alec's bicep leaving a cut in it's wake as Alec's shield began to hum before SNAP it arced out sending a stored up charge of static electricity into to Bandit.

The Bandit continued to circle Alec as it sneered at the larger man. Obviously the game designers hadn't bothered to give these creations real emotions or a sense of impending doom Alec thought to himself. This fight belonged to him and if this Bandit were real it would know that too, but since it wasn't it continued to fight not knowing it was a out to die. Alec mearly shrugged as he took another calming breath and brought his shield back up before him to defend himself and raised his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder to finish this fight once and for all. As the Bandit charged in Alec set his feet and swung down with a mighty blow that buried the mirror finished axe head deep into the Bandit as he charged forward. As Alec's Mithril Battle Axe dug deep his shield began a deep humming that ended with a loud CRACK as a large stored up charge of static electricity arced from his shield and surged into the Bandit causing jus muscles to seize and contract Paralyzing him where he stood. Alec raised his shield back up before himself and face his Mithril Battle Axe a twirl in his hand as he raised it up high to deliver the killing stoke and end this Bandit once and for all.

Alec's last swing had struck deeply opening a large gash that had released a spurt of red pixels into the air and causing his shield to react by sending a large Paralyzing arc of static electricity into the Bandit seizing his muscles and freezing him in place. Alec brought his shield back up before him in a defensive stance while he twirled his Mithril Battle Axe as he brought it up over his head to deliver the killing stroke to the Paralyzed Bandit. As the paralysis wore off and the Bandit began to regain control if his muscles albeit in a halting disjointed sort if way Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe down with a growl of "For Gwen and Danny!" as he buried his mirror finished axe head deep into the Bandit causing him to scream as his form began to shift and waver before exploding in a cloud of red pixels that rained down before winking out and disappearing into nothing. As the Bandit disappeared Alec looked to the ground where the Bandit had been standing and saw a good sized pile of Col and a Trinket laying on the ground in place of the Bandit. Reaching down Alec placed the item and coins in his inventory with a small smile.

As Alec placed the coins and trinket in his inventory the back of his neck began to tingle slightly causing Alec to instantly become alert. Something wasn't right but he couldn't pin point it's cause. Alec brought his shield up in a defensive stance as he raised his Mithril Battle Axe up and began to slowly turn searching for the source of his discomfort and unease. Seeing nothing out if the ordinary Alec began to slowly stalk the open sand in search if his unaccounted for trepidation. Alec had heard of combat veterans talking about just this situation but had never experienced it himself till now. He was in danger and couldn't pin point the source. Slowly and cautiously Alec made his way forward knees bent and his movements slow and concise. "Keep your eyes peeled pal." Alec whispered to Humphrey. "Something's not right, but I don't know what it is." Alec whispered in his deep rumble of a voice continuing to slowly and cautiously stalk the open sand of the desert.

As Alec contiued his wary creep through the desert his feeling of anxiety grew stronger and stronger the farther he went. With no point of reference for where this feeling was coming from only made the sensation worse for Alec as he slowly and carefully sought out the cause for this unwelcomed feeling. It felt as though something were stalking him and hunting him but he could see nothing at all moving around, so Alec continued to slowly and carefully make his way forward as he maneuvered his head to continually check his surroundings and behind him. Alec forced himself to take deep slow calming breaths as he inched his way forward scanning his surroundings for the source of his unease and trepidation. When suddenly out of the corner of his eye Alec caught movement as he spun towards it. There he was sure of it it was a shifting of the sands as if movement from below. Something was moving below the sand? That wasn't a pleasant thought Alec mentally told himself as he shifted his position to keep and eye on the shifting sand as it drew closer to him.

Alec continued to shift and turn keeping the sight of the shifting sand in front if him and his shield between himself and the movement. What could possibly be moving under the sand like this? As Alec continued to adjust his positioning to keep the movement to his front he noticed something about the movement of the sand. It was fast, yes, and fluid too not like a mole or other creature digging through the sand in a straight line. No, this was more fluid as if something were swimming through the sand, and that's when it hit him. This was a Sand Shark the field boss he was looking for. It made sense that his last combat might have summoned the beast to him and that's when Aleve saw the tell tale fin of what could only be a shark coming towards him. The fin was a mottled brown and tan color that would blend in perfectly with the desert sands get not already been tracking it's movements. The creature was fast that was for sure and big too. Alec guessed by the size if it's fine it had to be ten to twelve feet in length. Definitely a good sized shark by real aquatic standards. Alec took a deep breath as the fin closed in watching as it suddenly breached the sands and the behemoth cone hurtling towards him through the air jaws wide and teeth bared.

As Alec tracked the Sand Sharks movements under the sand he finally saw it's dorsal fin breach the surface of the sand and Alec was assured of what he now faced. The watched as the fin moved closer and closer at any incredibly fast pace picking up speed as it came. Alec forced himself to breath slowly and deeply calming his racing pulse and pounding heart rate. He shifted his position keeping the fin in front if him and his shield up to defend till finally the monstrous beast fully breached the surface of the sand and came sailing at him through the air in all of it's enormous deadly beauty and savagery. As the Sand Shark flew at him he reached out for the in game energy to power his weapon with a Sword Art as the Sand Shark hurtled forward. As the Sand Shark flew through the air Alec reached out and harnessed the games energy and enacted the Sword Art Lightning Axe causing his mirror finished axe head to begin glowing and lightning to dance and spark around the head of his axe. When the power reached it's crescendo Alec swung down and unleashed a devistating strike on the Sand Shark open a large rent in it's side that vented red pixels into the air. The Sand Shark roared and sank it's massive mouth around Alec's shoulder leaving a huge ring if bite marks in his flesh as it released and dove back under the sand.

As the gigantic Sand Shark dove back under the surface of the sand Alec hastily pulled his shield back up in front of himself to defend against the Sand Sharks next attack as he pivoted following as best he could the faint churning g if the sand that mattered the Sand Sharks underground passage. The humongous creature was extremely fast and nimble for its monstrous size. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe back up and held ready for the next time the Sand Shark presented itself. As the gigantic Sand Shark again crested and breached the surface of the water Alec reached out to the games energy and found nothing to grasp at frustrating him greatly. As he stood there the Sand Shark took advantage if his momentary failure and dove in sinking its row upon row of razor like teeth into Alec's shoulder before again diving back under the surface of the sand as it began circling him again. Aleve took several calming breaths as he turned and adjusted his positioning to continue facing the underground movements of the subterranean creature.

Alec had failed to make contact with the games energy source leaving him momentarily defenseless and the Sand Shark a had capitalized on the lapse and landed a strike. Luckily Alec's mitigation was high enough that even on a critical strike the Sand Shark did very little damage to him. Ok then. You want to play this way Alec thought to himself. I'll give it one more shot before switching back to slow mode don't want to burn all my energy save some for later he thought as the Sand Shark again breached and hurtled itself at Alec through the air as he reached out to wrestle the in game energy to his will. As the Sand Shark hurtled through the air on a be line towards Alec he reached out and latched onto the in game source of energy and pulled it to him directing it into his Mithril Battle Axe causing it to glow and lightning to crackling and spark from the mirror finished head of his axe. As the Sand Shark neared Alec took a calming breath and swung down slamming his Battle Axe into the Sand Shark unleashing the power if Lightning Axe as he sank the head of his axe into the Sand Shark. As the behemoth continued it's flight it slammed into Alec's shield jarring his shoulder slightly as his shield began to hum till SNAP it arced out with a stored up charge of static electricity that it surged into the Sand Shark as it continued on past Alec to dice back into the sand and continue it's predatory circling.

Alec had delivered a mighty blow to the Sand Shark as it soared through the air towards him enacting his most powerful Sword Art Lightning Axe. The strike had knocked the Sand Shark off it's trajectory and caused it only deal a minimal amount of damage to Alec his shield had reacted to the Sand Shark's contact as well before submerging itself below the surface if the sand again circling its prey. Or so it thought at least. Alec tracked the creatures movements under the sand waiting patiently for it to crest the surface and attack again. Patiently Alec awaited the Sand Shark to resurface. Finally the beast crested and flew free of the sand sailing st Alec maw wide and row after row of razor sharp teeth exposed and bared wide. As the Sand Shark flew in Alec timed his strike and swung down slamming his mirror like axe head into the Sand Shark's side as he stepped to the side and swung. As his Battle Axe sank into the behemoth's side his shield began a deep low hum that ended with a loud CRACK as his shield surged and sent out a large charge of static electricity that caused the Sand Shark's muscles to contract and seize up Paralyzing the large beast. Instead of submerging again this time the beast lay atop The surface of the sand twitching and convulsing as Alec slowly walked towards it shield held before him and axe ready to strike.

As the Sand Shark had sailed through the air Alec had timed his strike perfectly delivering a might blow that had caused his shield to expell a large burst if static electricity that had Paralyzed the Sand Shark and left it lying atop the sand. Alec raised his shield and readied his Mithril Battle Axe as he slowly made his way over to the twitching and convulsing monstrously sized creature. As Alec moved within striking distance of the Sand Shark he stopped setting his feet he brought his Battle Axe up over his head and swung down at the prone Sand Shark. As the Sand Shark lay twitching and convulsing on top of the desert sand Alex slowy and cautiously made his way towards the large prone creature. When he reached the beast he set his feet raised his Mithril Battle Axe up into the air and swung down chopping into the Sand Shark's side and hacking a chunk of it away. The beast thrashed and flailed futilely before diving back under the sand and resuming it's circling pattern around Alec as he brought his shield back up and readied his Battle Axe to strike as he continued to track the creatures movements under the surface of the sand.

As the Sand Shark lay prone and Paralyzed Alec slowly approached the twitching and convulsing beast. Once he reached the creature it was just beginning to shake off the effects of the static electricity charge that had subdued it. Alec planted his feet and raised his axe slamming it into the side of the Sand Shark opening a rent there. The Sand Shark began flailing and spasming before it dove back below the surface of the sand and commenced to circling again as Alec brought his shield before him and raised his axe ready for when the Sand Shark surfaced again. As the Sand Shark once again breached the surface of the sand and launched itself at Alec he stood his ground shield held before him and weapon poised breathing deeply and calmly as the missile if muscle and teeth barreled towards him. As the Sand Shark cane into range Alec expertly side stepped the beast and swung down sinking his axe head into it's side as his shield began it's low deep hum that ended with a loud CRACK as it arced out with a lathe charge of static electricity that shocked the beast seizing and contracting its muscles Paralyzing it again to lay twitching send convulsing on the surface of the deserts sands.

Alec side stepped the hurtling missile of a creature and swung his Mithril Battle Axe down into it's side sinking his mirror finished axe head into it's hide as his shield began to hum a deep low hum until CRACK it arced out a large stored charge of static electricity that caused the Sand Shark's muscles to seize and contract Paralyzing it do that it came crashing l down on top of the desert's sands. As the Sand Shark lay prone and twitching Alec brought his Shield back up before him and raised his Mithril Battle Axe as he stalked forward towards the downed beast. Alec stalked towards the prone heady ready to strike. As he reached the Sand Shark Alec raised his Mithril Battle Axe alup over his shoulder and as he prepared to seeing down the beast thrashed and slammed it's tail fin into Alec shield jarring his arm from the massive beasts movement causing him to miss his swing and the beached creature. As the Sand Shark's tail slammed into Alec's shield it began to hum till SNAP it arced out with a stored up charge if static electricity that shocked the Sand Shark and caused it to dive back  under the surface of the sand and recommence circling again.

As the Sand Shark dove back below the surface of the sand and began circling again Alec raised his shield into a defensive stance and began tracking the creatures movements. Alec shifted his position to keep the subterranean creature positioned in front of him as it circled taking slow deep breaths to keep himself calm and his nerves at ease. Finally the beast breached and flew towards him jaws again held wide to expose its numerous rows of razor sharp teeth. As it flew Alec lifted his shield and brought his Mithril Battle Axe up ready to swing. Alec took a half step to the side and brought his Mithril Battle Axe down as the Sand Shark flew at him hacking into its thick hide and opening a gash that leaked red pixels. As the Sand Shark continued its flight Aleve took another half step and raised his shield blocking the Sand Shark and knocking it over and beyond him harmlessly. The Sand Shark said beyond and five back under the sand to continue its predatory circling looking for a gap in Alec's defenses.

As the Sand Shark once more dove into the sands if the Fifth Floor's open desert Alec brought his shield before him once again in a defensive stance as he readied his Mithril Battle Axe to swing down on the Sand Shark as soon as it surfaced and presented itself again. Alec took slow deep even breaths to steady his nerves and calm himself as he pivoted and shifted tracking the movements of the Sand Shark as it was swam below the surface if the desert circling him till at least it breached again and hurtled itself through the air at Alec as he brought his shield up and raised his Mithril Battle Axe ready to swing. As the Sand Shark hurtled through the site Alec swung his Mithril Battle Axe at the giant creature and dug its mirror finished axe head into the beast opening another chunk of flesh that released red pixels into the air. The Sand Shark continued its flight so Alec raised his Shield to defend ad the Sand Shark smashed into his shield numbing his arm as it began to hum till SNAP it arced out shocking the Sand Shark with a stored up charge of static electricity that jumped out into the Sand Shark as it dove back into the sand and began circling for what Alec thought should be the last time, the Sand Shark's health bar was flashing red and nearly depleted. As raised his shield again and tracked the Sand Shark's underground movements waiting for it to resurface.

The Sand Shark had submerged again and was circling Alec from under the surface of the sand. Alec shifted his stance and position to keep the Sand Shark in front of him and his shield between them both as he readied his Mithril Battle Axe to swing down at the Sand Shark as soon as it showed itself. Alec was ready to end this fight and be on his way and soon finished with this floor and its unbearable heat and excessive sand. As he tracked the Sand Shark's circling he pulled his Mithril Battle Axe into the air and over his shoulder as it breached again and launched itself through the air headed straight for Alec. As the Sand Shark rocketed through the air aimed directly for Alec he took a single deep calming breath and stepped to the side as the Sand Shark reached him and swung down with a mighty chop that hacked into the Sand Shark causing its firm to begin to waver and vibrate before it burst apart in a shower of brown and tan pixels that rained down before disappearing entirely.

Alec delivered the final chop the Sand Shark and as his Mithril Battle Axe sank into the side of the Sand Shark its body began to waver and contort before exploding into a cloud of tan and brown pixels that flew into the air and rained down before twinkling away and disappearing into nothing. As Alec looked to where the Sand Shark had just been he saw a container lying on the ground. The container appeared to be made of metal and resembled a small  hockey puck or an oversized can of kiwi shoe polish. Alec walked up to it and pucked it up inspecting the container. The item had an identification banner over it that listed the item as Sand Potion Armor. Alec smiled to himself as he reached out and swiped down to open his inventory and placed the item inside. This item could prove very useful in the future Alec thought yo himself as he reached out and closed his inventory and turned towards his friend and travelling companion Humphrey. "Well pal? Ready to get the heck up out this desert and back to the Inn for the night at least. I have a feeling we're almost done on this floor and can get out of here soon and see what else is waiting for us my friend." Alec said in his deep baritone rumble of a voice.

Alec picked his latest quest rewarded send probably the most useful one so far for the build he was chasing. A potion to spread on his armor and boost his Mitigation. Alec smiled to himself and glanced down at Humphrey. "Let's get out of here pal." Alec offered in his deep baritone rumble as he turned back towards the town of Fortaleza and began the trek back to the main gate of the Fifth Floor's main town. As he began heading that way he began to search his surroundings why couldn't a Treasure  Chest or something equally valuable be hidden here in the open desert. It seemed like a good idea to him so Alec began hunting for one. Alec spent the better part of an hour hunting for a Treasure Chest or anything else of value but finally came up empty. Alec gave a shrug and looked to his familiar Humphrey "Oh well pal. It was worth a try." Alec offered jovially to Humphrey as he jerked his head in the direction they were heading. "Let's get out of here and back to town."

Alec and Humphrey trudged through the open desert of the Fifth Floor headed for the main gate of the main town Fortaleza. The sun baked down on them sand slipped below their steps and the entire situation was pretty much miserable but the pair of intrepid travellers persisted. They neared the continued their trek slipping and sliding through the soft hot dry sand as they progressed on their way back to the main gate. As they walked along Alec thought back to an acquaintance he had made a Merchant named Dagger who could conceivably find Materials anywhere as such Alec gave searching another shot and this time focused on finding usable Tier 1 Materials instead of a Treasure Chest. As Alec spent the better part of another hour search for usable Tier 1 Materials he came up with nothing again. It appeared Dagger's luck was solely his own and had not rubbed off on Alec in any way. Oh well thought Alec we can't all be that lucky I guess. As he finally gave up his search and continued to traverse the open desert finally coming into view if the town of Fortaleza's sand stone main gate. Alec couldn't wait to reach it and sur down to relax.

Finally Alec and Humphrey trudged up to the main gate of the Fifth Floor's main town of Fortaleza. Alec walked through the town's main gate swiping open his inventory as he walked through the courtyard not stopping as he usually did. He quickly stabbed out and u equipped his Adamantine Pauldron causing the air around his shoulders to shimmer as they disappeared as if a mirage. Next he poked the button for his Shield of the Thunderhearts and caused his shield to begin to waver and shimmer before it too disappeared as if it had never been. Finally he poked the icon for his Mithril Battle Axe and touched that picture as well causing his Ace to begin shimmering before it also disappeared as the previous items leaving Alec walking through the Town in his vanity clothes making a bee line for the Desert Rose Inn and the rest and relaxation it offered. As Alec reached the Inn he reached out opening the door and stepped inside closing the door behind him in the Fifth Floor's desert be and the entire day.
