This quest takes place on Floor 5
This quest is not repeatable after completion.

RMC8M6Y.png?1

Quest Background:
At dusk, on the fifth floor in a random Tavern located in Fortazela, you come across a NPC man named Ali, who drinks his sorrow at a bar. If you engage him in conversation he will start telling an unreal/fantastic story about how he found a secret cave full of gold and wondrous items. If you inquire why he is here drinking alone and sad, instead of partying in some extravagant way, he will tell you that the cave belongs to thieves and that they already captured his brother when the two tried to enter the cave.”It all began with a couple of words” he says on a slip of a tongue quickly getting nervous as he realised what he revealed until now. Then he will ask if you can go and save his brother Cassin that to his knowledge, was captured by the thieves and as a reward he says he will give you a nice sum of money if you bring him back. The coordinates for an ordinary thieves hideout are sent to you. A quest confirmation window shortly follows, appearing in his immediate vicinity, will you accept it?

Route options:

  1. (Hero route) - Save Ali’s brother and safely escort him back to the tavern.
  2. (Killer route) - Kill Ali’s brother for his golden ring that he hid from the bandits, but equips after being freed and become an Orange Player, as Cassin puts all his trust in his rescuers.
  • The thread creator chooses the route in his initial post, the rest of the participants agree with his decission by replying to the thread.
  • Regardless of the chosen route, players still need to kill/bypass all thieves.
  • At the end of the thread before locking, a staff member will roll and post the roll ID. This roll will be used in the later parts of this quest series.

Requirements:

  1. Thread must have at least 1 completed page of roleplaying. (21+ posts).

  2. Must roleplay talking to Ali at the Tavern before you accept the quest from him and after you return to the tavern to claim the rewards, in min. 3 posts. (in total, overall)

  3. Fight against the primary group(s) of thieves, rescue or kill Ali’s brother Cassim (depending on route options), then defeat the secondary group(s) of thieves when you return. (more information below)

  4. Any number of players can be take part in this quest. A party constitutes of 4 players max. If there is more than one party, the bandit number multiplies accordingly:
Total number of bandits = 6*(number of parties)
4(per group)*(number of parties) before freeing Cassim + 2(per group)*(number of parties) on the way back to Ali
Note#1: The secondary party can have between 1 and 4 members, a secondary team can be formed only when there are more than 4 players participating on this quest.

  5. In posts which contain multiple rolls for player and mobs, the roll order is as the following: Player roll -> Thief(s) roll.
Note#2: When more than one player team is present, attack turns are as the following: Player team 1 -> Bandit group 1 -> Player team 2 -> Bandit group 2 / etc.

Quest Mob Information:

             jjAS6MPm.jpg

<<Thief>> - A masked NPC in shady clothing of sand-like color wielding a dagger. Receives its(their) own dice roll!
When rolling for a thief or a group of thieves, make sure to use your own username. If you decide to do one roll for a group, the dice apply to every member of the group.
Example: on a successful hit for 'Tri Pierce' each bandit will use that specific sword art on the player with most hate in the party. In case that 2 or more players have the same highest amount of hate, the thieves will split equally in and attack those players.

Note#3: You CANNOT modify the preset stats for the thieves.
If this quest is taken as a Solo Party, the player can fight the bandits one after another using stealth mechanics. In a PP/OP the thieves spawn in groups.

Note#4: In a PP/OP, a player may attempt to skip fighting the thieves if they have invested at least 1 rank in the 'Sneak and Hide' skill; by applying the stealth mechanics. A player will still need to roll X number of times, one for each mob he/she tries to bypass. A player may try to act as bait for the group, if the thief's LD is higher than the player's 'Stealth Rating', the thief will attack the player (using that same roll dices) without alerting the other thief(s), making it possible to kill the mobs one by one. If a player bypasses any number of the required thieves, he/she can still go back and help the rest of the team; or try to bypass all, then leave the thread and finish the quest. Cassim must still be alive if this mechanic is used in the (Hero route).

Note#4A: If a player gets attacked by a thief while the rest of the team(s) fight, the player needs to fight the thieve alone until the rest finish their own fights. If a player has succeeded in getting past all the thieves, he/she will receive the rewards upon completing the quest, even if the rest of the team fails/dies. In this situation if the player is the only one to live he is allowed to double post until completing the quest.

  • The completion of this quest will be a prerequisite for continuing the series.
  • Col and SP awarded to all players partaking in the quest.

Quest Ending Description/Dialogue:

  1. (Hero route) - "Brother!!!" will be the first thing Ali shouts at the sight of his kindred, right before rushing to hug the one he thought off as probably dead. After the emotional reunion scene ends, Ali comes to you and places a large pouch filled with Col coins next to you "I can't thank you enough for this. I won't forget what you did for me, please accept this as a small token of my gratitude." he adds with a joyful expression. With one more "Thank you!" he goes to his brother and celebrate his return with opulence. If in any moment you ask him where he has all that money, he will become hesitant and try to avoid the subject, ultimately leaving the tavern/inn with his brother. In the same time, the Quest Ending Window pops in front of you, displaying your hard earned rewards. The col reward could act as potential proof that the 'cave of wonders' he talked about in his drunken state, when you first meet, could be real.

  2. (Killer route) - "I..... I see..." comes a faded response from Ali as his facial expression changes to one of grievance at the sight of only you (and your group) entering the tavern. He gulps the remaining of his drink then orders another one as he listens to what you have to say. At the end he says nothing and after taking a quick glance at you, he leaves. In the same time, the Quest Ending Window pops in front of you, displaying your hard earned rewards. The col reward could act as potential proof that the 'cave of wonders' he talked about in his drunken state, when you first meet, could be real.

Alec awoke to the unbearable heat that was a miserable excuse for existence on the Fifth Floor of Aincrad in the town of Fortaleza where nearly everything was made from stupid stupid sandstone. This entire floor was a giant desert filled with sand so why wouldn't the stones be made of it too Alec grumble to himself as he rolled over in too small bed and placed his feet on the already warm floor of the room he rented at the Desert Rose Inn here in the Floor's main town. He disliked every minute he was on this floor and hoped beyond hope to finally be done with this floor never to return if he had his own way about it Alec thought sullenly to himself as he flexed his tree trunk like legs and stood up receiving an alarming CREAK from the wooden bed frame as he rose to stretch his muscles and roll his joints to realign his body and try and recover from the ravages of sleeping on a too small bed.

As Alec opened his inventory and equipped his vanity clothing he began to think of some things he needed to do today. He had just heard from the former Front Liner and Grandmaster Blacksmith Macradon that he had finished his new heavy armor and shield had ordered the other day so as soon as he was dressed Alec thudded across the sandstone floor and exited his room walking through the narrow hallway and through the common room to the door exiting the Desert Rose Inn and into the sweltering heat of the Fifth Floor. Alec made a relaxing day of travelling to the First Floor and the Town of Beginnings to pick up his Heavy Armor and shield casually walking the overcrowded streets before stopping at the teleporter to make a quick jaunt to another floor to visit the Merchant to pick up some Immolation Potions for his new Tier. He couldn't deal a lot of damage with a swing of his axe but with its added bleed effect and his new upgraded Thorns on his new shield plus an Immolation Potion hitting him would net a good bit of damage to boot.

Alec spent the day doing something he hadn't in a very long time. Alec strolled leisurely with no real purpose but to relax and enjoy a day. He stopped in on the Fourth Floor to feel of the fresh crisp clean air as the bite of the chill air bit his lungs and pimpled his skin with goose bumps. He took some time to wander the town and enjoy its simplicity. Yes if he ever decided to stop living in rented Inn rooms this is where he'd make his home and outside the walls of the village to boot. Not that he didn't enjoy the tiny Town but he wanted his privacy and his solitude. Alec made several other stops and visits throughout the day before finally calling it a good day and heading back to the teleporter to take him back to the Fifth Floor and the Sandy city of Fortaleza. As Alec said the word and materialized in the town he looked around and all the joy of the day spent shopping and wandering quickly washed away as his scowl returned and firmly seated itself upon his face as the reality of where he was sank back in. Alec hastily made his way yo the tavern next door to the Desert Rose Inn a seedy establishment that could have easily fit in anywhere in Mos Eisley space port. "A most wrenched hive of scum and villany." Alec intoned in a monotone voice causing his scowl to falter slightly and a deep low chuckle to emerge as he pushed the door open and stepped inside surveying the establishment and its patrons.

Alec thudded his way heavily across the floor of the tavern and eased his massive frame on to one of the wooden bar stools at the bar receiving it's tell tale CREAK as his large frame and heavy bulk settled onto its wooden frame. There were few patrons in the bar as it was early evening but Alec suspected that the establishment would pick up in a few hours. There were only a handful of taverns here in Fortazela after all. As Alec flagged down the bar keeper he ordered a drink and sat back sipping it after the bar keep placed it in front of him. As he scanned the patrons again he took special notice of a man deep into his cups a short ways down the bar as the man let out a loud groan from where his head was laying upon his crossed arms on the counter top. Alec had assumed the man was passed out or asleep but the man lifted his head from his arms and looked around the room with red bleary eyes as he fumbled out for his mug neatly knocking it over in the process of trying to attain it as he latched onto it for dear life.

"Whoa there pal." Alec began in his deep baritone rumble. "Think you've had enough?" Alec asked the man as he fumbled around and waved his arm at the large man addressing him. "Shou wouldn't believe it." the man slurred out as he tried to take a large gulp from the mug held firmly within his grasp only to find it empty as he turned it over upending it and staring at in befuddled confusion. "My broffer and I found thish hidden cave in the desert. Filled wish all the richish you could ashk for 'hick' golds and gems and amazing items beyond dish-criptions." He continued obviously drunk out of his mind. "Was that mosht amazing shight ever." he continued. "So much it would daysh to carry its all out." the man finished with a sob.

"It that's true." Alec responded slowly. "Why are you here smashed out of your mind alone and in sorrow instead of having a great time in a better place than this?" Alec asked.

"Thish caves belongs to Bandits and Sheaves!" he exclaimed loudly before hushing himself with a spittle ridden Sshhh, ssshhhh, sshhhhh. "My brover Cashin and eyes found it but ash we trieds ta enter it theysh captured himsh and holding himsh prishoner. It shawl began wish a couple ofs words....." he said conspiratorially as he suddenly trails of and clams up looking around wide eyed as if afraid someone may have over heard him and that he's spoken too much. "Cans yoush help me?" he please drunkenly. "Please Shir shave my brover from tha Sheaves. I'll gives sha a nice rewards. Lotsh of Col." he finishes as looks pleasingly at Alec his eyes red rimmed and grassy from a heavy mixture of crying and heavy drinking. "I'll show you where theysh is." he continues as he nods vigorously as he suddenly looks like he might get sick then swallows deeply and shakes his head for a second as a quest screen pops up in Alec's vision near the drunken man.

Alec just shakes his head gently with a barest hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth. "Sure." Alec responds as he reaches out and taps the icon for the <<ACCEPT>> button and is rewarded with a triumphant chime and a blue dot appearing on his map overlay showing the location of the Thieves cave and this man's supposed brother Cassin. "I'll find your brother Cassin and bring him back here, but I'd recommend you get some sleep and freshen up for when I get back here with him." Alec says sternly as he drains the last if his drink and stands up from the bar. He wooden bar stool again lets out a CREAK of protest as his massive frame shifts and releases the tension placed upon the wooden stool as he again heavily thuds his way across the bar room floor headed for the door leading outside.

More Thieves and Bandits eh Alec thought to himself with a grit of his teeth and scowl. Well good, he had a score to settle with Thieves and Bandits on this floor and he meant to repay them ten fold he thought fiercely as he reached out and gripped the door knob in his large fist and turned the knob pulling the door open and stepping out into the quickly cooling evening on the Fifth Floor of Aincrad as he began walking towards the main gate of Fortazela and the open desert beyond. As he neared the main gate and entered the courtyard Alec reached and with a quick downward swipe of his index finger he opened his inventory and began scanning the items contained within. This would be his maiden voyage with his new Heavy Armor and shield and he was very anxious to take them both out on a test drive and see how they performed.

As Alec scrolled through his inventory list instinct almost took over as he found his finger hovering over the Adamantine Pauldron Heavy Armor before he remembered that he had just purchased a brand new set of Heavy from Macradon the other day and reached touching the icon for his Vanquisher Shoulder Armor. The air around his shoulders shimmered as if a heat mirage before his new set of Heavy Armor shoulder guards appeared sitting there. The new armor was a tiny bit heavier due to the added protection of another slot of Mitigation but the polished look of the armor and the Celtic designs brought a smile to his face as he looked them over and rolled his shoulders getting the feel of the new armor and how it sat and felt. He liked them! He would have to go back to Macradon and thank his for the new armor later.

As Alec continued his scrolling he almost did the same thing again as his index finger hovered over his Shield of the Thunderhearts before he remembered again he had just reached Tier 2 and had his new upgraded shield also courtesy of the preeminent Blacksmith in all of Aincrad. Alec pondered to himself as his index finger hovered over the icon for his new shield maybe Macradon would be willing to take him on as an apprentice and train him to become a Blacksmith as well there seemed to be a limited number of them in Alec’s opinion. He could could two Vigilon and Macradon. Maybe he should think about getting a profession? But that would take away from his time he needed to spend leveling if he ever wanted to join the Front Lines and get out of this virtual prison he was shackled to. Wordlessly and without more thought he stabbed the button for his new shield entitled Mirrors Embrace and watched as it materialized strapped to his forearm.

Alec continued his scrolling till he came to his weapons he had a choice to make here he could go for his tried and true trusty reliable Mithril Battle Axe but wait he was facing Bandits and Thieves and they deserved no mercy in his book so after a fraction of a seconds worth of contemplation Alec reached out and tapped the button for his Axe of Rending and watched as the air above his hand shimmered and wavered before the viciously serrated blade of the battle axe appeared held within his grip with this weapon in hand he’d need a few more items to ensure his effectiveness but that would come in a moment as he hefted and axe and tested its weight and balance it was still balanced perfectly but had a heavier weight than his incredibly agile Mithril Battle Axe but this weapon tore rents its opponents flesh that continued to bleed after the strike was delivered. Alec slipped the axe into he loop at his hip hanging from his belt and continued equipping himself for his quest.

Lastly Alec scrolled the remaining items listed within his inventory and selected two items that he chose and touched their icons causing them to materialize in his hand. First he selected one his few remaining Hummus Dips and ate the item so that he could improve his Accuracy. As the munched on the snack he felt his eyesight sharpen and a clarity of mind set in as he felt his Accuracy focus down to a razors edge. Next he reached out and tapped the icon for a Tier1 Immolation Potion, he had several Tier 2 Immolation Potions but he wanted to save those for when he knew he was going to be fighting really tough opponents. He had fought Thieves and Bandits on this floor before and they were tough but he was upgraded with higher level gear and didn’t foresee them causing him any serious problems right now. As he pulled the cork free and upended the contents of the vial into his mouth the cinnamon flavor left a pleasing after taste as he tossed the vial away causing it to explode harmlessly when it struck the pavement. As the potions contents took hold Alec felt his skin flush and tingle as if he suffered from a fever and knew it was ready to do it job.

As Alec finished with his items selection he noted the distinct absence of any healing potions he had run out of them earlier during his mad dash through the night and desperately need to restock his diminished supply of them. But since he had used them all he would have to go it alone with only Humphrey to back him up. He felt confident that all would go well and he would return with the drunk mans brother Cassin, or something like that. That guy had been hammered Alec thought to himself as he closed his inventory window and walked through the main gate on his way to the blue dot that sat atop his map overlay marking the spot of the Thieves cave and the drunk mans supposed brother. Alec travelled at a brisk walk through the night till he finally arrived at the location indicated upon his map and began to creep forward.

As Alec approached the physical location of the blue dot highlighted on his map overlay he began to spot large rock outcroppings and slunk from rock to rock trying to remain as stealthy as possible and not attract any notice, not that he saw anyone around out here. Then he caught sight of a brightening in the distance. As Alec slunk forward he noticed that the terrain lifted in a small hill. As he crept up the hill the glow ahead gradually grew brighter as he neared till he reached the edge of rise and looked down into a bowl in front him. There inside the bowl in the earth Alec spotted a cave entrance. The cave entrance was completely clear and visible as there was a camp fire light within a ring of rocks and Alec counted four men dressed in tan and brown sand colored clothing. Yes this was defiantly the spot Alec thought to himself as he eased his Axe of Rending free of the leather loop and gently hefted it in his grip acquainting himself with its feel.

As Alec crouched poised behind a large rock at the top of the rise he took a moment to take several dep calming breaths to ready himself as he looked into the Thief encampment and surveyed their numbers. Four had been a tough go last time but he was higher level no and had significantly upgraded gear now so now or never he thought as he looked over to his friend and companion Humphrey and whispered sounding like a large bumble bee “You ready pal?” Humphrey let out low soft growl as he kept his eyes trained on the men in sand colored clothing below. Alec nodded both for himself to reaffirm he was ready and to let Humphrey know he was moving as he dashed down into the bowl and amid the Thieves taking them by surprise as he jumped into their midst and swung his axe at the nearest Thief to him as he raised his shield in defense. As Alec swung down his axe struck the Thief but he was wearing some very thick armor underneath his sand colored robes as Alec's axe did little more than give him a paper cut. Then it was the Thieves turn and they spun and whirled into motion like four dust devils stabbing and slashing at Alec from all directions at once. As the their blades skittered and sparked off his shield and armor they barely grazed the surface of his skin leaving minor cuts as well. As the Thieves struck in Alec shifted his shield around to block the incoming attacks and caught the Thieves with the edges of his saw blade like shield cutting them to ribbons then the magic happened and he felt his skin grow flushed as the Immolation Potion exploded and a ball of fire and super heated gas engulfed the four Thieves singing and burning their exposed flesh.

Now the battle had begun in earnest and Alec stood amid a whirling dervish of slashing and stabbing knife blades but Alec held his ground and brought his shield back before him in a defensive posture and raised his Axe of Rending and prepared to swing again at the leading Thief in the group. He would take this slow and ease he wasn’t in a race like some Front Line DPS fighter. He was a Tank and he was made for the long haul, the slow burn he was a Mac truck not a Ferrari and that’s how he fought conservative and careful he would win by attrition and whittling them away to nothing in a slow methodical way. Alec gritted his teeth and scowled at the Thieves as they danced and sprinted around him a fire burning deep within his eyes as he focused on them and raised his axe to swing again. Alec swung his one handed battle axe down at the leading Thief but he nimbly and agilely danced out of the way leaving Alec swing through empty air. As the Thieves dove on their blades darting and diving Alec was himself a whirl of movement as he shifted and swung his shield around blocking every strike that came at him knocking their blades harmlessly away. Alec let out a low guttural growl. "I'm no easy prey Thieves. I will be your reaper tonight." Alec growled at the Thieves as they danced away giving Alec the chance to reset his shield and heft his axe up over his shoulder to prepare for the next bout.

Alec stood like a statue amid the whirl and dance of sand colored clothing and blades. Any lesser person would fear for their life but Alec had faith in his skills and even more so in his equipment from Macradon so he glared down the Thieves and readied himself for when the leading Thief danced back within range of his viscous serrated axe blade. It wasn’t too long before the leading Thief flashed in and Alec swung down and around from his shoulder aiming for the Thief’s body all he had to do was connect and then in turn get hit that was his game plan it would be nice to tear a ragged chunk from these Thieves but he’d settle for them striking him instead. That was the name of his game. “Come on hit me.” Alec growled at the Thieves. As Alec swung at he leading Thief he again danced out of he way this time throwing a foot out as he spun around Alec kicking him in the leg and causing him to miss horribly and fall to a knee as the leg that got kicked gave way. The Thieves were on him like a pack of rabid dogs slashing and stabbing relentlessly at Alec. Luckily his armor took the brunt of the attacks and Alec was left with inly minor cuts and scratches when all was said and done.

As the fight continued the Thieves continued their whirling dances of death as then circled Alec attempting to draw him in and over extended himself to create openings for themselves and their companions but Alec refused to fall to their ploys and stood his ground awaiting them to come to him. He was a mountain when it came to patience. He could wait for them to move til the end of time if need be and finally they did the leading Thief charged in ans Alec swung down and slammed his serrated axe head into the Thief, again the Thief’s armor held true and Alec barely scratched his skin but it had the desired effect as of stirring up a bee hive and the Thieves all swarmed in stabbing and cutting as Alec swung his shield around to block their strikes and turn their blades. The Thieves did little more than scratch Alec as well as his shield cut deeply into them as it saw blade edges tore at their skin and lacerated their flesh before the heat within him built and then bust in another ball of fire and heat. That engulfed the Thieves and sent them prancing back away from him again as he grinned fiercely at them.

The Thieves continued to dance and whirl silent as death’s shadow as the darted and twirled around Alec continuing to try and force him into acting and opening himself up to their blades but Alec refused to be baited by the Thieves and stood his ground shield held before him and serrated headed axe held poised and ready to drop onto the first Thief to come within Alec’s range. After a short time the leading Thief dashed forward again knife blade ready to strike. AS the Thief came within range Alec swung out and chopped into the Thief, this time however the blade left a ragged gaping wound the vented red pixels from it onto the air. As if sharks the Thieves reacted instantly to the blood on the air and swarmed Alec stabbing and slashing at the large man as he twisted and turned his saw bladed shield back and forth deflecting strikes into minor scratches as his shield tore into their ranks causing all four Thieves to begin to shake and waver before exploding into showers of red pixels that rained down and twinkled before disappearing into nothing.

As the four Thieves explode into separate bursts of red pixels Alec smiles to himself and hefts his battle axe onto his shoulder and casually begins walking into the cave in search of the man Cassin who is supposed to be held captive here. The cave isn’t deep and after Alec has taken half a dozen steps he finds a man bound and trussed like a hog ready for the market. Alec slowly and cautiously walks toward the man making peaceful gestures as he approaches as he doesn’t want to terrify the man further and cause him to thrash and hurt himself. “Ease there. My name’s Alec and your brother…..(wait Alec thinks to himself the drunk guy never gave me his name, crap)…….well he sent me here to find you and bring you back to Fortazela to him at the tavern next door tot he Desert Rose Inn. If you stay calm I’ll go ahead and ungag you and cut your bonds but you have to be nice. Ok?” Alec asks in his deep baritone rumble.
