Ozwald had heard rumors in his guild that on floor eleven there were caverns that were brimming with useful materials and monsters that dropped large amounts of loot. Ozwald sat up from the bed at the inn he stayed in, the air cold, almost unbearably so. Ozwald could see his breath in the air when he exhaled. Getting up Ozwald got ready for his expedition onto the eleventh floor, the farthest Ozwald had ever gone in Aincrad before.

Ozwald finally arrived at the teleport location that found its home in the center of the Town of Beginnings, calling out the name of the eleventh floor's main settlement Ozwald found himself transported there in a bright flash of blue light. Looking around Ozwald could see a beautiful European inspired settlement where the light from the sun shone through colored glass that made the entire town look like it was glowing. Ozwald had never been here before, but he had managed to get directions from a guildmate in order to find the caverns that they had been talking about.

Taking his first actual step into the eleventh floor settlement, Ozwald was excited and scared, he knew the monsters here would be a lot stronger than the ones on the floors he spent most of his time, but he thought he could handle it. Walking down the streets of the shining city in front of him Ozwald passed by all sorts of buildings of all different sizes, all in a European style. Reaching the settlements edge Ozwald could see the forest that stretched out from beyond the city for what seemed like forever.

Ozwald Stepped out into the forest, the sun was starting to fully rise, and the cold had dropped enough that he could no longer see his breath in the air. Ozwald followed the path that had been told to him in order to get to the cave where he would farm for money and unidentified gear. After about a half hour the path that Ozwald was following began winding more, and the forest grew darker and deeper which was a good sign it meant he was close.

Ozwald pushed away the final thick leaves and branches of the forest in front of him bringing a small clearing with a hill in the center. Ozwald knew from the description that he was given that he would found the cave he was looking for on the other side of the hill. Ozwald carefully made his way over to the other side of the hill, making sure to pay attention to his surroundings, being jumped on the eleventh floor unprepared could lead to his death after all.

Walking completely around the perimeter of the hill Ozwald found the opening to the cave that he would soon be going into. Taking a deep breath Ozwald stepped inside of the dark cave, following the winding tunnel as it twisted and turned before finally reaching a wider opening that lead to a large cavern. The larger cavern was full to the brim with Crystals of a brilliant blue color shining brightly, despite the lack of light in the cave.

Ozwald was fascinated by the cavern, it was beautiful, water was dripping slowly of of the crystals that glowed on the ceiling splashing against the floor like exploding drops of light. Looking around Ozwald decided that he should explore the cavern in its entirety to make sure that nothing was there, and that he wouldn't be missing out on anything if he were to leave before exploring.

Making his way around the perimeter of the cavern Ozwald found 3 more pathways leading off of this larger cavern, and he suspected that this cavern was part of a much larger network of caves that were all interconnected. Ozwald didn't find anything of importance, and decided that he should move on from the stunning cavern, and use this as a fall back point if he needed. Stepping into the leftmost of the three paths that led out of the crystal cavern Ozwald followed along until he heard noises coming from around a bend in the corridor.

Ozwald could hear a clicking, chirping sound coming from around a bend in the corridor. Dropping down into a crouch, Ozwald carefully peaked around the corner and say 2 very large ants standing in the corridor seemingly talking to one another if that was even possible. Ozwald approached the ants slowly, and right as the two ants notice him he launched forward with a burst of speed. Hopping into the air Ozwald spun around and his foot glowed with a blue light, He was using the sword art Tornado Kick, And he kicked his foot into both of the ants doing about a third of their health with the one attack. Ozwald landed right in between both ants and immediately knew that he wouldn't be able to dodge. Both ants dived in, Clamping their jaws on Ozwald's torso ripping away doing almost a third of his health in that attack. This was the first time Ozwald had really been scared, if he didn't win this fast the ants would overtake him.

Ozwald was scared, he had never been in a situation that actually put his life on the line before, watching his health drop by such a large amount off of a single attack was the scariest thing he had ever experienced. Ozwald may have been very scared, and worried that he would lose his life, but he wasn't going to give up without a fight, the creatures were also down a third. and if he could land his next two attacks he would be able to win this fight. Ozwald used Tornado Kick again, leaping into the air spinning with his foot outstretched Ozwald kicked both Ants with a large force. Landing Ozwald rolled to avoid what happened last time, but he wasn't fast enough one of the ants still closed its mandibles on his leg dropping his health by a sizable chunk again. Ozwald looked again at his health and the ants, feeling a lot better about trying to win this fight.

Ozwald was more confident in his odds now. He once again decided to use Tornado Kick in order to kill both of the ants at once. Ozwald once again hopped off of the ground into the air slamming his heel into the ants, the bright blue shards of data proving that the ants had met an undesirable fate. Ozwald sighed in relief that he had managed to do that, if Ozwald had gotten unlucky, then that would have been the end of him. Searching around the corridor Ozwald picked up all of the items and Col that had been dropped by the large insects, and put them into his inventory. Ozwald felt incredibly tired after that fight, he knew that fighting the two at once may have been a bit too much for him. Deciding to regroup at the large glowing cavern that came before this corridor Ozwald turned around.

Ozwald was exhausted after his last fight. He had used up all of the energy that he had left in fighting both of those ants. Walking back into the dazzlingly bright cavern full of crystal, Ozwald thought about his journey thus far. He was already level 15, and it had only been a few days since he had started actually going out into the dangerous and wild parts of Aincrad. Ozwald knew that he still wasn't powerful enough to be able to help in the frontlines, not yet anyways, especially after watching what Chase could do compared to himself. Ozwald sighed as he sat down placing his back up against one of the larger crystals coming out of the ground. Letting his eyes flutter closed Ozwald let himself relax, something that he hadn't really done over the last few days. Ozwald was happy he was doing something, anything really, but it was a very sudden change compared to how he used to hide in the Town of Beginnings.

Ozwald layed down on his back, the cold floor of the cavern piercing through his wool armor just like any knife would have. Ozwald stared at the high up ceiling above him, the crystal stalactites looked like stars to Ozwald. "I'm doing something mom, I'm scared, I try not to show it, but It is so hard." Ozwald said reaching his hand up to the stars in front of him "I know you're up there watching, and I'm helping, at least I am trying." Ozwald lowered his hand dropping it back down to his side, his voice fading out slowly into nothingness. Ozwald couldn't help but think about everything he unwittingly left behind when he logged into this game for the first time. His family and friends, all worried about him in the real world if they were even still around. Ozwald closed his eyes again, hoping that he would find a way home to his friends and family soon.

Even after closing his eyes Ozwald couldn't stop thinking about the past. His mom always said that when someone died their soul would become a star in the night sky, so that they could look down on the world and watch the people they loved. Ozwald found himself staring at the stars every night, wondering which stars his parents might be, and if when he became a star if he would be able to see them again. Whenever Ozwald missed his family he just had to look into the night sky, and they would be right there. Ozwald continued his revelry for many minutes, before eventually his thoughts all faded away into the empty nothingness of sleep.

Ozwald awoke with a start, he hadn't meant to fall asleep, letting his guard down like that was foolish. Ozwald looked around, something had woken him up, and that was a clicking sound of mandibles chattering coming from the middle corridor of the three tunnels leading further into the cave, and it was drawing closer.

Ozwald jumped up from his prone position on the floor. The ant wasn't to the large cavern just yet, but it would be there very soon. Ozwald crouched and moved over to the side of the corridor entrance that the ant was coming from. Ozwald prepared to use his most damaging sword art which was an AOE art called Tornado Kick. As soon as Ozwald saw the ant's head he launched into the air, spinning a full 360 his foot glowing blue aiming at the ant. Ozwald had poorly judged the distance though, he aimed for the ant, but his foot had fallen short slamming into the ground next to the ant, startling it without doing any real damage. Ozwald jumped backwards making sure to get himself out of the way of any retaliation the ant was capable of doing. Bringing his fists up, in a still useless position against creatures that were not humanoid.

Ozwald had leapt out of the ants range of attack, but in doing so it made it almost impossible to reach the ant with any attack he made. Ozwald still tried to attack the ant from where he stood. Jumping into the air, once again using his signature sword art Ozwald tried kicking the ant in order to deal damage to the ant. His first guess was right though and he once again fell short of the ant, his foot slamming into the ground again. Ozwald wasn't upset that he was out of range for his own attack, because if he could not attack the ant, how could the ant ever hope to attack Ozwald back? Ozwald was too far away for the ant to strike, so the two fighters just circled around one another waiting for the opportunity to attack the ant. Ozwald didn't really know how this fight was going to go, two ants were too much, but one would probably be just fine.

Ozwald saw the opportunity appear in front of him, the ant had scuttled forward a bit, in hopes to bite at Ozwald. Ozwald used his sword art at this moment, once again leaping into the sky to bring his foot down on the ant. Landing his foot down on the ant Ozwald heard a crunch, as parts of the shell on the ant cracked. Using the ant's thorax as a spring board Ozwald launched himself further past the ant, flying past it as it tried to bite Ozwald again. Ozwald fell into a roll, standing up again Ozwald once again got into the position that had become the staple of his fighting style, fists up in a guard standing on the balls of his feet in a light and airy stance that would let him dodge at any second. The latest attack that Ozwald had made filled him with a bit of hope, the last ants by this time had already dropped his health by a third, but now it almost seemed too easy.

The large insect's shell was already cracking from the first attack that Ozwald had made. Ozwald felt a rush of energy as he felt like this fight was going a thousand times better than the one against both ants that he fought earlier. Ozwald planned to finish the battle within his next two attacks. Resolving himself Ozwald once again used his strongest sword art Tornado Kick. Jumping high up into the air Ozwald spun before bringing his foot down on the cracks that had appeared in the ant's armor making the cracks crawl across the ant's carapace like spider webs. Ozwald landed beside the ant, his light armor really helped when it came to these fights, any move that Ozwald made felt as though it took less energy and effort because of the light and flexible wool armor. Ozwald sidestepped another vicious bite from the creature's large mandibles before he prepared for the last strike that he would make in this combat.

Ozwald was really not having much trouble with this fight. The ant couldn't seem to hit the spry and agile man, whereas Ozwald was consecutively landing fairly powerful attacks on the bug. Ozwald knew that this would be the end of the battle, the insect before him could barely move with its crushed carapace. Ozwald almost felt sorry for the creature, almost, Ozwald used to struggle with killing the creatures that made their home in Aincrad, but this was life or death, and Ozwald had too much to protect now to die. Ozwald leaped into the air bringing his foot down to put the creature out of its misery. The blue shards of data that exploded out of the creature were made even more dazzling by the way the light from them refracted off of the pristine blue crystals in order to make the room look like it was an exploding star before dying down again. Ozwald picked up all of the items the ant had dropped placing them in his inventory.

This cavern was beautiful, this was the most prominent thought going through Ozwald's mind at the moment, especially after the brilliant blue flash thathad come from killing the ant in this very room. Ozwald decided that he would collect some of the crystals that could be found in this room, whether or not they were valuable was not important either way they were a beautiful shining blue. Ozwald wandered around the large cavern, you could probably feet a hundred people in this room just fine without any trouble, kicking small piles of the Crystalline structures, looking for any that were loose and could easily be pulled away from the earth. Finding one such pile of crystal Ozwald pulled the knife at his belt out of his pocket gently coercing the crystal out of the ground before placing it in his inventory. Ozwald hadn't even covered a fifth of the cavern in his search for the crystal's and decided that he would just go until he found all of what he could pick up from the cave.

Ozwald moved along the edge of the cavern first because that was where the vast majorities of the crystal clusters could be found piled where the cavern floor met the cavern wall. This area was by no means the only place that had crystal, but it was the place with the most by far. Ozwald found another very likely crystal chunk, one that he figured he could pry away, sticking out of the wall. Ozwald once again pulled out his silver knife, the blade gleaming with the blue light that seemed to radiate out of these crystals. Ozwald placed the blade against the crystal, using it as a pry bar, and wedged it under where the crystal met the wall pulling towards himself until that one and another blue crystal nearby came off of the wall. Ozwald bent over again picking up the glowing crystals and putting them into his inventory,

Ozwald ventured away from the wall into the middle of the cavern, there were a surprisingly small amount of the crystals here, almost as if whatever made them sprout at the edges of the cavern was less abundant here. Ozwald used his patinated kicking strategy to find another loose crystal  in the floor of the cavern. It didn't take Ozwald very long to find one, honestly a surprisingly short amount of time, this one being particularly loose. Ozwald bent down to take the crystal out of the floor, the crystal seemed to be glowing a lot less than the crystals around the edge of the room. Ozwald lowered his blade using very minimal effort to get the crystal to fall out of the rock.  Ozwald examined the crystal in his hand, and watched as the blue glow coming from within slowly faded away until the crystal in his hand was just a pallid grey color, cloudy and dull. Ozwald quickly checked the stones in his inventory, but they were still glowing. Ozwald put the crystal back down puzzled.

Ozwald was confused, why had this crystal lost all of its color, when the ones he had grabbed earlier were still glowing strongly? Ozwald walked over to another loose cluster of crystals that were found in the center of the large cavern. Ozwald examined this crystal more closely, it much like the crystal that he had just found was very loose in its socket on the ground and its color was was also a vastly more dull blue color without any of the sheen a dazzling glow of the majority of the crystals in the cavern. Ozwald pried this crystal out of the ground as well watching intently as the blue glow and color almost seemed to be drawn out of the crystal and back into the earth below it. Ozwald put the now dull gray crystal aside, he was very curious as to why these specific crystals glow, but he didn't really have the knowledge or expertise to find out, maybe he would come back in order to find out later.

Ozwald found another of these crystal clusters that met his requirements and pried it out of the wall with his blade, much like the ones he had gotten when he had first started searching the cavern. Ozwald held the two crystals that he had managed to pry away with his knife watching intently making sure that the crystals still had their shine and color before putting them away. Coming from farther along in the cavern ozwald heard what sounded like more of the ants coming down the right most corridor and a lot of them. Deciding not to push his luck Ozwald left the cavern with all that he had gathered, following the corridor that lead out of the cave until he came out into the cool night air outside.
