[Calyx's turn]

[Left and right bandit's turns]

The attack made solid contact with the bandit that had been behind Calyx on his right, and sent him flying several meters backward into the trees. The left bandit tried to stab at Calyx again, but the had left the sword perfectly positioned to immediately block the attack and send the bandit reeling. Now Calyx had the advantage, and both bandits had been left open and at his mercy.

[Calyx's turn]

Deciding that having fewer enemies to fight was always better, Calyx opted to finish off the man in the trees. He dashed between two small oaks to where the man was laying, and brought his sword down. No muss, no fuss.

[Left bandit's turn]

Calyx's sword drove clean through the man, and then the tree next to him. Calyx followed through with the action to face the man behind him, who had of course decided to attack Calyx from behind while he was off killing the man's friend. But once again, Kaeseras was already perfectly placed to block the remaining bandit's attack by the time he got there, and he bounced off harmlessly once again.

[Calyx's turn]

Thoroughly enjoying the hotstreak he was on, and happy to be doing well enough to finally impress Lockheed, Calyx held his sword out at his side like a baseball bat until it turned blue in his hands, and then let the System guide it toward his final victim.

[Left bandit's turn]

The bandit took the tip of a blue blade across the face, and then blindly slashed out at his attacker. Calyx parried the dagger harmlessly off of his bracer, and the man fell backwards and began crawling away on his hands, clearly regretting his decision to start this fight.

[Calyx's turn]

With victory within reach, Calyx considered letting the man go. He probably didn't want to fight anymore, and he certainly wasn't a threat. Of course, the System probably wouldn't let the fight just end; otherwise players could just run away from a fight instead of losing if it was about to happen. Plus, these guys started it. No, it had to end; and end it would. Calyx brought his sword down on the man, hopefully for the last time.

As the last man shattered, Calyx held his followthrough for dramatic effect. That's what the cool guys in the movies always did. After a moment, Calyx stood and resheathed his sword, and Lockheed promptly flew down from his tree and resumed his former place atop it. "Well?", Calyx thought. "Well what?", the dragon asked. "Not bad for a measly human, huh?" Calyx was rather pleased with himself; it had been a pretty impressive display. "Eh. Needs work.", the dragon replied, unenthused.

Calyx felt himself turning red. The dragon wasn't just trying to taunt him; he actually thought that was a lackluster effort, despite the fact that Calyx knew it had been a really lucky encounter. He had landed crits on half his hits, and only missed once or twice. If he wanted to impress Lockheed, he was going to have to really step up his game. Calyx breathed a sigh of relief that the combat was finally over, and resumed the walk back to Urbus. It was sunset now, and like all sunsets in SAO, it was spectacularly beautiful. This particular sunset seemed to have heavy shadings of orange though; and Calyx wasn't sure if the developers had tied a different sunset to the event of someone befriending Lockheed, or whether he was making it up entirely. Regardless, he had a newfound liking for the color, and appreciated his surroundings all the more.
