His father left him and his mother at a young age and his mom was left to raise Axel on a low income job. As a result Axel grew to be very distant from family and peers. He rarely talked to anyone and had a very small group of friends who he liked very much. Sadly after his mother was fired from her job Axel and her were forced to move in with his grandparents in a new town away from his friends. This caused Axel to become even more anti-social and this is what initially pushed him into playing video games. The first game system Axel owned was an old pc that was already a few generations behind, but never the less, he loved playing it. he played many old fps games and mmos that didn't require very much of his old computer and helped him escape from his horrible social life. This allowed Axel's reflexes to grow and made him a better gamer, while also allowing him to show his true colors in raid chats and in game chat rooms. When SAO and the NerveGear were first announced a few years before their release Axel immediately began saving his money and doing odd jobs around his town so that he could get them upon release. After two years had past he had finally saved enough money to purchase it when the online purchase was enabled. After learning what a great following the game had and the limited slots for purchase he programmed a fairly complex system to purchase the game milliseconds after release, just to be sure he was one of the first to gain ac. This of course worked in his favor and as a result he was among the first 1000 people to purchase the game. After getting the gear and game a few days later he put the system together frantically and after placing the helmet onto his head yelled out of excitement, "LINK START!" which put him directly into the game world where his adventure would begin. «Virtues» Clear Minded: Axel's ability to put his emotions behind and focus 100% on the situation at hand comes from years of playing hardcore fps and mmo games for hours on end. With this Axel can assess any situation he sees infront of him with the utmost speed and accuracy. . Quick: After many years of playing video games with horrible equipment Axel has learned the importance of quick reaction time. In order to make up for his laggy computer Axel had to react extra fast in order to land a hit in pvp games, which gives him a great advantage now that he has a fluidly working system.. Intelligent: Without any social life to get in his way Axel excelled in school work and often studied for hours on end before playing on his computer. As a result Axel is very creative in his ways of thinking which gives him an edge in SAO combat where he can attack his opponents in creative ways.. Flaws Blunt: Axel is very blunt and direct when he speaks to people, meaning if he has a problem with what they are doing or has a negative perspective of them, he will often be the first to speak his mind about it. This causes many social problems while in situations where leaders are speaking. Axel will often blurt out what he thinks about a particular leader in front of everyone no matter the situation.. Aggressive: He often gets into verbal or physical fights with those he dislikes. This makes him a pretty bad team player when in a group of unlike minded people.. Childish: Because of Axel's young age he hasn't fully matured and as a result acts much like a child in some situations. This can make him hard to work with and often unmotivated to do things he dislikes..
