First day of the game, It was remembered very clearly by Frostmaw. After clearing the first quest needed in the quest line of the First few lessons it was on to the next one. In the quest line, Frostmaw had to figure out who the mayor had loaned some Col to. Her first target was the alchemist named Zachariah, A nice and friendly NPC who was all too happy to help. She learned a bit about crafting and searching for materials during the quest. It didn't take too long for her to find those materials at all, and the crafting went perfectly. Gaining a few new items and some big EXP from the quest made her day. But after clearing the quest, it was discovered that it was not Zackariah who borrowed the money but maybe the blacksmith down the road, Lyle. it seemed to be quite easy to find the workshop of this man and soon Frostmaw was standing in front of it.It was remebered very clearly by Frostmaw. Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #2 Share Posted April 8 Walking and opening the door, the pleasant smell of herbs was not something she was gonna be greeted with this time. Instead, a dimly lit shop smelling of raw iron and burning wood. In the background, she could hear a hammer strike metal and with every cling the sound rattled and bounced between the walls of the shop. Just like last time an older-looking NPC was working at the anvil, but this was not Zackariah of course but it must have been Lyle. Walking closer the man looked up and let out a sigh. His voice sounded annoyed and he was not in the mood as he stared at Frostmaw, "I'm busy!" Did didn't stop Frostmaw from wanting to explain herself "Sir are you Lyle? Im here..." But before she could finish speaking Lyle interrupted her which caught her off guard. "I don't do anything without payment. Go kill a couple of those pesky boarlets for me, and bring back their tusks. They're pretty weak, so even you shouldn't have any trouble. Do that, then I'll hear you out." The man was clear and direct with his wording not even seeming to care at all.
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #3 Share Posted April 8 As quickly as that interaction happened so did the quest that Frostmaw got here. It was clear, Kill three boarlets to collect their tusks. "Sir but... the loan" Frostmaw spoke but Lyle had other thoughts waving her away very quickly. Well, there was no argument to win here as the quest clearly seemed set on what had to happen. With such a move Frostmaw turned around quickly and walked towards the door looking over her shoulder for just a second to see if there was any reaction from Lyle who seemed to have returned to his anvil. As she walked outside back into the open air she was all too happy, some fresh air at last. Even if she was in there for a few seconds it felt like the air in there was to die from. How thick was that air even? No matter it seemed she had to travel out of the city yet again. To Fight these boars and try and finish this quest quickly as she didn't wanna deal with this Lyle much.
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #4 Share Posted April 8 it seemed clear that what she saw last time when she went outside, or at least she thought so. That those people fighting those boars must have been doing this quest too. She hasn't seen them again so maybe they just mist each other as she finished her quest. Once getting to the gate again the guards still stood well guard, which seemed logical. Considering PVP was a thing and a sort of honor system too. So maybe the guards were there to keep those people out especially considering PVP now would be straight-up murder. But she wasn't all too worried at the moment, most people seemed to stay back so for now she would be perfectly fine going outside and letting her guard down. Still, it would be a weird thing and dark, especially for someone willing to go out of their way to murder someone. To her understanding it would be extremely dumb to do so, but how could someone be stopped not doing it, and how would someone even be known for murder?
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #5 Share Posted April 8 it didn't take her long to reach the same hilltop again where she was gathering materials. She looked around again to see the people she had seen before, but this time she had no luck finding anyone. Not too worried honestly. Her job right now was to find those boars and take their tusks. So if she was, taking her eyes towards where she was before she walked off the path and onto the hills. it would take too long for her to find the small area with what seemed mobs spawning, and in between all that there seemed to be the smaller boars, the boarlets. She walked down towards the boars that seemed to mostly ignore her unless she got close. Quite a simple engagement range and all, but it seemed some of the boars had small lines between them if she looked closer it seemed clear if she attacked one the others connected to that line would follow.
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #6 Share Posted April 8 (edited) Inspecting around Frostmaw noticed one of the boarlets standing alone and she moved toward it. She took her halberd from her back and took a fighting stand, holding the halberd in two hands she was ready to attack the beast and ready for a fight. To her surprise the little bugger noticed her and it started moving pretty quickly. Readying her weapon as the boar moved towards her, she took her stands and went for an attack. It felt like the weapon was guiding her movement as she took both her hands onto the weapon and with a wide arc moved the halberd head over her head and with a powerful swing went down for the boar. Sadly because this might been her first time using a sword art it felt strange and the weapon did not land on the small boar. In return, the little pest moved towards Frostmaw with a small charge, but she saw it coming took her halberd from the ground, and jumped to the side with ease. "So this is what the combat feels like, I love it! lets try something else now too!" she said to herself. 193 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 20/22 [-2] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221710 | BD: 2 | ST-I vs Boarlet | Misses Boarlet || HP: 5/5 | DMG 3 ID : 221711 | MD: 1 | Boarlet vs Frostmaw | Misses Edited April 8 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #7 Share Posted April 8 (edited) It was gonna be getting used to that her actions felt guided but it was quite nice too. It seemed to her that the second bar she had under her HP was energy as the first time she used a sword art which seemed logical as it would mean that she could not keep using sword arts the whole time and had to either rest or just stab the things in front of you. But Frostmaw got ready again taking her time to look at the boar's movement and with the same sword art she moved the halberd up again and smashed down in a cutting arc towards the boar. The impact landed in the dirt as well as her whole attack. Yet another miss and it was pretty hard to even hit the fast little boar. But just like last time the boar did not wait and as soon as Frostmaw got her weapon free from the ground, so was the boar already charging for her. She quickly jumped to the left as the boar graced past her with quite a bit of speed 185 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 19/22 [+1 -2] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221712 | BD: 4 | ST-I vs Boarlet | Misses Boarlet || HP: 5/5 | DMG 3 ID : 221713 | MD: 4 | Boarlet vs Frostmaw | Misses Edited April 8 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #8 Share Posted April 8 (edited) Frostmaw took her halberd into both hands again and turned to face the small boar she had been fighting for a bit now. It was him or her, and it was clearly going to be him in this case as not only did Frostmaw have armor but also most likely more HP than it. Taking her weapons she used her sword art yet again, the head of the halberd moved to the side and then behind her before she pulled it down towards the boar that seemed to run at her. Perfectly timed this time, as the fast boar was this time slashed right at its back and this red cut appeared on its body. These red pixels seemed to show the damage done to a creature and maybe it also was like that for players but as soon as she lifted her weapon from the corpse, almost for a second it stuck to the axe head of the halberd before dispersing into blue pixels confirming her kill with a small pop up of the loot dropped before her. 179 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 16/22 [+1 -4] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221725 | BD: 4 | ST-I vs Boarlet | HIT | 4*4= 16 DMG Boarlet || HP: 0/5 [-16] | DMG 3 ID : Edited April 8 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #9 Share Posted April 8 (edited) Her first fight and it was... well, "THAT WAS SO COOL!!!" She yelled out to herself, she enjoyed that fight and it was clear she did so too. With the loot gained from the boarlet, she looked and inspected the quest. Yep, it was the right item so that made it a lot easier for her to know who to target and who not to target. And that target seemed to appear right on time, as the Boarlet next to her walked up seeming like it was in shock by its brother being killed by this player. It seemed ready to charge but Frostmaw took her weapons with a swing behind her and right on queue went down into the this boar as well slaying it where it was standing. This was pretty easy so far considering how it worked for a tutorial it would have been pretty simple to begin with. 152 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 13/22 [+1 -4] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221727 | BD: 9 CRIT! | ST-I Vs Boarlet | Minor Crit | 4*5= 20 DMG Boarlet || HP: 0/5 [-20] | DMG 3 ID Edited April 8 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #10 Share Posted April 8 Frostmaw scanned her surroundings to search for any more boarlets to hunt. But it appeared that she had taken down the last target in that area. It was time for her to take a break and rest for a while. She sat down on the hilltop and took a deep breath. her energy seemed to recover slowly but it was at least something. She was always wondering how it would be to do combat in this game and honestly, she enjoyed it way more than she should have. But at least it was fun so that is what counted here. She started to slowly look up at the sky, the blue sky and the calm clouds really made it feel like the real world as well and she could feel the breeze coming across her face so easily. Sure this might have been a death game now but so far it wasn't that bad yet, not like she had met anyone at all so she didn't know anyone in this game her friends list completely empty at least for now 180 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 14/22 [+1 ] || DMG: 4 || MIT:
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 8 Author #11 Share Posted April 8 (edited) As she played the game, she couldn't help but notice the incredible amount of freedom it offered when it came to building her character. It reminded her of an older MMO she used to play called ESO Online, which also allowed players to customize their characters to their heart's content. The game seemed good back then, and with the same level of freedom that she had in this game now, it was just as enjoyable. This got her thinking about her combat style. She typically liked to switch between two-handed weapons like greatswords or battleaxes, and also enjoyed tanking with a shield or spear in hand. However, in this game, she had complete freedom over her armor and weapons. While there weren't many ranged weapons to choose from, she had picked up on the polearm skill, as she enjoyed using longer-reach weapons. Now, her plan was to figure out what to do next. Should she spec into armor and become more defensive, or should she continue being on the attack? The possibilities were endless, and she couldn't wait to explore more of what this game had to offer. 188 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 15/22 [+1 ] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 Edited April 8 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 9 Author #12 Share Posted April 9 As she surveyed the weapon she had used to take down the boars, she couldn't help but think that the polearm was a really effective way to fight. The weapon had allowed her to kill both boars easily and quickly, and she was impressed by how versatile and powerful it was. She wondered if she should stick with polearms, or if she should try something different next time. Turning her attention to her armor, she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed with how basic it was. She knew that she could improve it, maybe even master a specific type of armor. Her eyes were drawn to the heavy armor skill, and she smiled at the thought of dressing up in plated armor and wielding a big spear like they did at Renaissance fairs. It was just a passing thought, but it made her feel excited about the possibilities. As she continued to ponder her options, she noticed that her energy had fully recharged already. It was nice to see that out of combat, energy recharging was faster than in combat. She made a mental note of this, knowing that it would be useful to keep in mind for future battles. 201 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 22/22 || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 [3 out combat post]
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 9 Author #13 Share Posted April 9 (edited) She stood up and walked in a random direction. After a while, she spotted a tiny boat just a few feet away. This one seemed smaller than the other two, but faster. However, she was not going to let that stop her from fighting it. She equipped her weapon again and approached the boar. She took her weapon out and got ready for the fight ahead Taking her halberd, she activated her sword art. For a moment, she felt like she was going to make the same move as before, but this time was different. Charging towards the boar, she prepared to attack. The halberd went low, and with a quick movement, she went for an uppercut towards the boat. However, the boar was ready and jumped to the other side of her weapon. She reacted quickly, and Frostmaw moved to the side, avoiding a near collision. "Wow your a fast bugger, now get ready to become bacon!" She said with a smile and a joking tone. 167 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 40/40 || EN: 20/22 [-2] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221828 | BD 4 | ST-I Vs. Frostmaw 0 Posted April 9 Author #14 Share Posted April 9 (edited) Wrong words wrong time! As she turned to face the boar she saw the little one charge at her with quite a lot of speed. She wanted to get her weapon ready and went for the attack but the boar moved around her attack and with a wide swing the boar came at her. The little boar was only a few feet away now and with that speed, Frostmaw saw the anger within the little one's eyes. She moved quickly and guarded herself with her left arm. She was holding it in front of her as the boar hit the back of her lower arm. With the impact from the boar and the speed it had Frostmaw almost fell down but with a strong counter push, pushed the boar away for her arm. Almost threw it with a wide arc as she guided its attack and technically itself, away from her body. "Okay noted, do not taunt the monsters unless you want them to attack you directly. I'll keep that in mind," Frostmaw said as she looked and took a second mental note on how the way she defended herself and maybe some ideas that could be used later. 199 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 39/40 || EN: 19/22 [+1, -2] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221830 | BD 4 | ST-I Vs. Frostmaw 0 Posted April 9 Author #15 Share Posted April 9 (edited) Frostmaw the tiny boar that seemed to have just recovered from the throw and with a smile Frostmaw got ready to get some real bacon soon as well! Taking her Halberd she charged for the boar again. Her arms being guided by the game, it was clear what was gonna happen and she let the game guide her. The Halberd went spear first for the boar with a strong thrust guiding the weapon a bit with her left arm she went for the boar. Quite a bit of dust got kicked up from her attack and she waited to get the menu pop up from her loot, but nothing happened. When the dust settled she could see her weapon, And the boarlet just standing a few inches away from it. She missed by a few inches and even the boarlet was surprised by this as it didn't move and just stared at the weapon that just cut off s few hairs from its tiny body. 165 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 39/40 || EN: 18/22 [+1, -2] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221832 | BD 1 | ST-I Vs. Frostmaw 0 Posted April 9 Author #16 Share Posted April 9 (edited) Frostmaw sighed as her weapon was still in the same position just missing the boar. How did she miss and why did the boar stop moving? But all was quickly answered as she came up with an idea, she dragged her weapon to the left with a swing as the heavy momentum of the weapon guided her movement. The head of the halberd moved behind her and then she moved her arm over her head as the weapon followed quickly. In just a few seconds the weapon made a complete circle around her and as the boar saw this it started to panic a bit. Wanting to run away before being hit was already too late as just a few seconds later the head of the Halbert collided with the boar making it fly only for a few inches before disappearing into a dust of blue pixels. Giving Frostmaw the loot and the quest update was clear that she could return to the blacksmith. 164 Frostmaw || Lv. 2 || HP: 39/40 || EN: 15/22 [+1, -4] || DMG: 4 || MIT: 6 ID: 221834 | BD 6 | ST-I Vs. Frostmaw 0 Posted April 10 Author #17 Share Posted April 10 Frostmaw lifted her gaze to the sky, where the sun was now midway through its descent. The thought of lunch made her stomach rumble as she quickly stashed her loot and began to move. However, her eyes caught sight of a glimmering object on the ground. Though she wasn't too concerned, she decided to pick it up and stash it away for later inspection. Once she was back inside the walls, she carefully examined the item, turning it over in her hands. As she descended the hill towards the city, she observed a few more people braving the wilderness. Perhaps, they had finally realized that sitting still and doing nothing wasn't an option anymore. After all, there was no time for panic, only survival. Her stomach was really clearly debating with her after that fight as soon as she got inside it rumbled again demanding food. "Fine, those boarlets did make me want to eat some bacon, After the quest we will get something sir," She said poking and pointing at her own stomach.
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 10 Author #18 Share Posted April 10 (edited) opening the door to the blacksmith again she was hit with the familiar sounds of the hammer hitting the anvil and the smell of iron. While not as pleasant as Zackariah's shop, Lyle's shop had its charm in some way. "I got what u asked for," Frostmaw said louder so Lyle would at least acknowledge her entrance. Handing over the three tusks she got curious "What do you need those for?" she asked and it seemed that she was finally for his full attention. "I use these on hilts," he explains simply, before setting the items aside. "Now, I'll have you know that I don't take loans from anyone, especially men the likes of Dorian White. You might try old Pete Larkin. He spends all his time fishing for river monsters or some such nonsense." With a scoff, he adds, "Without a real job, the man could probably use the charity." Lyle turns back to his work, but gestures with his head toward a nearby table. "Grab yourself a weapon and armor from those bins on your way out. They're about worthless, but consider it payment for the tusks." She did so and then walked out towards the door leaving as the quest updated. 204 Edited April 10 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 10 Author #19 Share Posted April 10 (edited) Once outside her stomach grumbled again, only to remember that she hadn't even eaten yet and maybe it was about time. Despite it being a game, it was clear that food was important and she moved towards one of the many smaller NPC stalls on the side of the city road. "Greetings! Could I get some of that bread please?" she asked the lady at the stall as she turned her attention towards Frostmaw. "Well of course young lady, anything for a brave adventurer like yourself." She said. Handing over something that looked like bread but was a bit hard on the side. Not every NPC out here was good at selling or baking things but for now, she would be fine, "Anything you wanted to add to the bread my lady?" the woman behind the stall said as she pointed at the different toppings she had ready too. Spotting the bacon Frostmaw could not resist and pointed towards the bacon. As the woman behind the stall opened the bread and added the bacon, Frostmaw looked on in a bit of a amazement at how simple this was. Taking her first bite from the bread was a bit though but at least it had a good taste to it. 209 Edited April 10 by Frostmaw
Frostmaw 0 Posted April 10 Author #20 Share Posted April 10 Frostmaw's day improved slightly after completing a quest, and she decided to take a break and have something to eat. She found a small bench to rest on and pulled out the food she had just bought. The bread was slightly warm, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. As she ate, she savored the flavors and textures of the food. Despite it being a game, the food felt incredibly real, and she couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to prepare an entire feast with all kinds of delicacies. Frostmaw was aware of the cooking profession, but crafting wasn't her forte, so she didn't pursue it. Perhaps if she became bored, she would give it a try. However, for now, she was content with enjoying her meal and preparing for the next quest in line. It had something to do with this fisherman, She was thinking of the saying third time is a charm, and maybe it was also like that with the tutorial quest line here. But that some something for later to worry about, food came first! 181 Thread Summary: Frostmaw: +820 EXP | <<(3451 / 10) * 1 * 1 (+475 Quest)>> +900 Col | 500 Quest + 400 Complete Page 1 + Boarlet's Blood | Rare Potion | DMG II + Tealeaf Armor | T1 Heavy Armor | MIT I Unlock <<The Third Lesson>> Quest.
