From a young age, Lydia's first love was dance. She was incredibly talented, throwing her whole heart into her craft. Lydia never felt so alive as when she nailed a challenging routine. Her parents, upon seeing her natural gifts, threw every resource they had into molding her into a triple threat. They paid for acting lessons, voice training. Lydia's life was late nights practicing until her voice was raw. School was an afterthought, life skills irrelevant. She wouldn't need to know how to cook if she made it big, after all. So Lydia threw everything she had into it. She had to. Her parents never let her forget how much money they spent on her. How much they sacrificed to give her talents room to blossom.

And she did, eventually.

Lysette was born in the graveyard of Lydia's childhood. 

Auditions, rehearsals. Creeps and manipulators. Those that flocked to her circle only saw what she could do for them. Record labels that sank money into her image, directors that only type-casted her as the bitchy goth because of the tattoos she never wanted. But she so very rarely got to spend time with her true love. Acting, singing paid the bills. Dancers were always starving. Barely scraping by.

And she had to repay everyone for their help.

Right?

And so when the opportunity to advertise Sword Art Online came about, her managers - her parents - didn't hesitate. They bought the copy and the NerveGear and placed it upon Lysette's head. 

Might as well have been a gun, in reality.

But...

Becoming a prisoner of Aincrad was, ironically, the first time in a long while that she felt free.

While all of the Players panicked after Akihiko's announcement, Lysette was strangely calm. She wound her way through the crowd. She wasn't afraid. All she did was find an isolated spot. A place just outside of town, on a hill, under a tree.

And to the tune in her head and without any voices telling her it was a waste of time, Lydia danced for the first time in years.

personality//
Lysette wears a mask constantly. She wears her stage makeup like armor. Bold with a subtle hint of eroticism. Cheerful. The life of the party. The one everyone wants to meet. She plays up her assets, her talents and her pretty face. She's an icon, a pop star. Those acting lessons really help her sell it. You'd have to pay close attention to know that she was just faking it. That those bright smiles have small cracks. That those bright eyes rarely show any deep emotion. That she wants to puke every time she has to flirt with someone to seal a deal.

But Lydia isn't enough.

Lydia's the starving dancer. Lydia's the girl that can't even make a bowl of cereal right. Milk before cereal, by the way. She was the one destined to a run-down apartment in a bad part of town. The one destined for disappointment. Failed auditions and scraping by as a waitress at a diner, or worse.

Lysette has the world in her hand, that same world that would crush Lydia.

virtues//

hard-working// Lydia has always had her eyes on the prize. Even if her parents hadn't forced her, she would have worked as hard as she could to make her dreams come true. It was never a challenge to get her to focus on the goal. It was always right in front of her, just out of reach. And she would prefer it stay that way. Nothing is worse than an artist with nothing to strive for.

insightful// Working in the industry, Lydia had to develop a sixth sense for those who wanted to get over on her. Or get her under them. She's usually able figure out what someone's about with a short conversation. It's a matter of survival. Show business was the lion's den.

Humble// Even while wearing her mask, she doesn't lord herself over people. Maybe it's because Lydia feels so small. Probably that she didn't feel that she earned it. Everyone else paid for everything, she was just playing catch up.

flaws//

Impostor Syndrome// Lydia doesn't feel that she deserves any of the praise or accolades she has. They don't feel earned. They feel like they were torn out of her soul. Her singing voice might well be nails on a chalkboard, her acting hammy and overstated. She simply cannot give herself credit for any of it.

Distrusting// Everyone Lydia had ever known took advantage of her. She let it happen. She owed them, of course. But that means that anyone who tries to enter her circle will find dozens of walls and several small barbed-wire fences barring their path.

Unskilled// How a woman reaches her twenties without knowing how to feed herself is unreal. Her parents wouldn't let her do anything. If she spilled something, they would berate her for being careless. Threaten to take away what little freedom she had between being paraded around from stage to stage and set to set. The girl couldn't even fathom how to boil water.
